Abstract:In this paper we focus on r-geometric polynomials, r-exponential polynomials and their harmonic versions. It is shown that harmonic versions of these polynomials and their generalizations are useful to obtain closed forms of some series related to harmonic numbers.

On the series expansion of the secondary zeta function

Abstract:In article, we explore the secondary zeta function $Z(s)$, which is defined as a generalized zeta type of series over imaginary parts of non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function $\zeta(s)$. This function has been analytically continued as a meromorphic function in $\mathbb{C}$ with one double pole and an infinity of simple poles. The secondary zeta function is of interest because it can naturally represent an analytical formula for non-trivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function that we will explore, and we show that the non-trivial zeros can be generated directly from primes by introducing a new form of an explicit formula written in terms of the prime zeta function. Additionally, we will also give several new series expansions for $Z(s)$ and numerically compute these coefficients to high precision, and also develop several new methods to analytically extend $Z(s)$ to larger domains and develop algorithms to compute them.

Abstract:We have established novel integral representations of the Riemann zeta-function and Dirichlet eta-function based on powers of trigonometric functions and digamma function, and then use these representations to find close forms of Laurent series expansions of these same powers of trigonometric functions and digamma function. The so obtained series can be used to find numerous summation rules for certain values of the Riemann zeta and related functions and numbers, such as e.g. Bernoulli and Euler numbers.

Abstract:Numerous interesting solutions of the problem of evaluating the Riemann ζ(2) (:=∑k=1∞k−2), which was of vital importance to Euler and the Bernoulli brothers (James and John Bernoulli), have appeared in the mathematical literature ever since Euler first solved this problem in 1736. The main object of this note is to present yet another evaluation of ζ(2) and related sums by applying the theory of hypergeometric series. Some other approaches to this problem are also indicated.

Abstract:We prove a general result on representing the Riemann zeta function as a convergent infinite series in a complex vertical strip containing the critical line. We use this result to re-derive known expansions as well as to discover new series representations of the Riemann zeta function in terms of the incomplete gamma functions, generalized hypergeometric functions and Meijer $G$-functions.

Abstract:The Newton power-sum formulas relate to sums of powers of roots of a polynomial with the coefficients of the polynomial. In this paper we obtain formulas that relate to sums of reciprocal powers of zeros and poles of entire and meromorphic functions with the coefficients of their Taylor series expansions. We then derive the recurrence formulas for the Riemann zeta function at integer arguments and compute the sums extended over the nontrivial zeros of the Riemann zeta function.

Abstract:The theory of multiple Gamma functions, which was recently revived in the study of the determinants of the Laplacians, was applied in several earlier works in order to evaluate some families of series involving the Riemann Zeta function as well as to compute the determinants of the Laplacians. Here, in the present paper, the authors address the converse problem and apply various (known or new) formulas for series associated with the Zeta and related functions with a view to developing the corresponding theory of multiple Gamma functions and then using these series to compute the determinants of the Laplacians on the n-dimensional unit sphere Sn (n=5,6,7) explicitly.

The corrected forms are then shown to be connected with the problem of closed-form evaluation of series involving the Zeta functions, which happens to be an extensively-investigated subject since the time of Euler as (for example) in the classical three-century old-Goldbach theorem.

Abstract:We develop series representations for the Hurwitz and Riemann zeta functions in terms of generalized Bernoulli numbers (Nörlund polynomials), that give the analytic continuation of these functions to the entire complex plane. Special cases yield series representations of a wide variety of special functions and numbers, including log Gamma, the digamma, and polygamma functions. A further byproduct is that $\zeta(n)$ values emerge as nonlinear Euler sums in terms of generalized harmonic numbers. We additionally obtain series and integral representations of the first Stieltjes constant $\gamma_1(a)$. The presentation unifies some earlier results.

On a problem of Mező and its generalizations to three classes of rational zeta series

Abstract:We evaluate in closed form three special classes of alternating zeta series with one and two additional parameters. Two classes are expressed as linear combinations of polylogarithms while for the third class we prove an expression involving the incomplete gamma function and the exponential integral. We also present some related series that can be deduced from the main results as well as some series with Fibonacci and Lucas numbers as coefficients. Particular cases of the series presented here will be rediscoveries of identities established by Zhang and Williams, Choi and Srivastava, and Orr, among others. We will also rediscover a series identity published by Mező in 2015 as a problem proposal in the American Mathematical Monthly.

Some Families of Rapidly Convergent Series Representations for the Zeta Functions

Abstract:Many interesting families of rapidly convergent series representations for the Riemann Zeta function zeta (2n + 1) (n is an element of N) were considered recently by various authors. In this survey-cum-expository paper, the author presents a systematic (and historical) investigation of these series representations. Relevant connections of the results presented here with several other known series representations for zeta (2n + 1) (n is an element of N) are also pointed out. In one of many computationally useful special cases presented here, it is observed that zeta (3) can be represented by means of a series which converges much faster than that in Euler's celebrated formula as well as the series used recently by Apery in his proof of the irrationality of zeta (3). Symbolic and numerical computations using Mathematica (Version 4.0) for Linux show, among other things, that only 50 terms of this series are capable of producing an accuracy of seven decimal places.

Abstract:Let $n$ be an integer and $W_n$ be the Lambert $W$ function. Let $\log$ denote the natural logarithm so that $\delta=-W_n(-\log2)/\log2$. Given that $a$ and $r$ are respectively the first term and the constant ratio of an infinite geometric series, it is proved that the limit of convergence of the geometric series is $\displaystyle\lim_{n\to\pm\infty}{a\big[r^\delta-1\big]\big[r-1\big]^{-1}}$ where $r\neq1$. By applying the geometric series formula above, it is further proved that the harmonic series $\zeta(1)$ is given by $\zeta(1)=-2\big[\log2+W_n(-\log2)\big]$ and as $n\rightarrow\pm\infty$, the value of $\zeta(1)$ grows very slowly toward $\tilde\infty$, confirming the divergence of the harmonic series.

Abstract:Relying on the Hurwitz formula, we find closed-form formulas for the series over sine and cosine functions through the Hurwitz zeta functions, and using them and another summation formula for trigonometric series, we obtain a finite sum for some series over the Riemann zeta functions. We apply these results to the series over Bessel functions, expressing them first as series over the Riemann zeta functions.

Abstract:The history of problems of evaluation of series associated with the Riemann Zeta function can be traced back to Christian Goldbach (1690–1764) and Leonhard Euler (1707–1783). Many different techniques to evaluate various series involving the Zeta and related functions have since then been developed. The authors show how elegantly certain families of series involving the Hurwitz–Lerch Zeta function can be evaluated by starting with a single known identity for the Hurwitz–Lerch Zeta function. Some of the special cases of these series identities are also shown to lead to certain known families of summation formulas involving the Hurwitz Zeta function.

Abstract:We begin with modular form periods, a focal point of several Yuri Manin's works. The similarity is discussed between the corresponding zeta-polynomials and superpolynomials of algebraic links, closely related to Khovanov-Rozansky polynomials. We focus on DAHA superpolynomials and motivic ones, defined via compactified Jacobians of plane curve singularities and their counterparts in arbitrary ranks; the non-unibranch construction is new. They conjecturally coincide with the corresponding generalizations of L-functions and satisfy the Riemann Hypothesis in some sectors of the parameters. Presumably, the motivic ones an be interpreted as certain partition functions of Landau-Ginzburg models associated with plane curve singularities; RH for them is remarkably similar to the Lee-Yang circle theorem for Ising models. A q,t-deformation of the Witten index is obtained as an application. General perspectives of the motivic theory of isolated curve and surface singularities are discussed, including possible implications in number theory. Also, we introduce super-analogs of $\rho_{ab}$-invariants and discuss super-deformations of the Riemann's zeta. Among other topics: Verlinde algebras, and the topological vertex.

Abstract:This is an expanded version. We study relations among special values of zeta functions, invariants of toric varieties, and generalized Dedekind sums. In particular, we use invariants arising in the Todd class of a toric variety to give a new explicit formula for the values of the zeta function of a real quadratic field at nonpositive integers. We also express these invariants in terms of the generalized Dedekind sums studied previously by several authors. The paper includes conceptual proofs of the above mentioned relations and explicit computations of the various zeta values and Dedekind sums involved.

Abstract:Almost twelve decades ago, Mathieu investigated an interesting series S(r) in the study of elasticity of solid bodies. Since then many authors have studied various problems arising from the Mathieu series S(r) in various diverse ways. In this paper, we present a relationship between the Mathieu series S(r) and certain series involving the Zeta functions. By means of this relationship, we then express the Mathieu series S(r) in terms of the Trigamma function ψ′(z) or (equivalently) the Hurwitz (or generalized) Zeta function ζ(s,a). Accordingly, various interesting properties of S(r) can be obtained from those of ψ′(z) and ζ(s,a). Among other results, certain integral representations of S(r) are deduced here by using the aforementioned relationships among S(r), ψ′(z) and ζ(s,a).
