Abstract:We give a sufficient criterion for the existence of the twisted convolution product of two tempered distributions as a tempered distribution, and we list examples of algebras with respect to this and related products contained in $\mathscr S^\prime$.

Abstract:We study graded twisted tensor products and graded twists of twisted generalized Weyl algebras (TGWAs). We show that the class of TGWAs is closed under these operations assuming mild hypotheses. We generalize a result on cocycle equivalence amongst multiparameter quantized Weyl algebras to the setting of TGWAs. As another application we prove that certain TGWAs of type $A_2$ are noetherian.

Abstract:Let W be a real symplectic space and (G, G′) an irreducible dual pair in Sp(W), in the sense of Howe, with G compact. Let be the preimage of G in the metaplectic group . Given an irreducible unitary representation Π of that occurs in the restriction of the Weil representation to , let Θ Π denote its character. We prove that, for a suitable embedding T of in the space of tempered distributions on W, the distribution T (Θ̌ Π ) admits an asymptotic limit, and the limit is a nilpotent orbital integral. As an application, we compute the wave front set of Π′, the representation of dual to Π, by elementary means.

About the convolution of distributions on groupoids

Abstract:We review the properties of transversality of distributions with respect to submersions. This allows us to construct a convolution product for a large class of distributions on Lie groupoids. We get a unital involutive algebra $\cE\_{r,s}'(G,\Omega^{1/2})$ enlarging the convolution algebra $C^\infty\_c(G,\Omega^{1/2})$ associated with any Lie groupoid $G$. We prove that $G$-operators are convolution operators by transversal distributions. We also investigate the microlocal aspects of the convolution product. We give conditions on wave front sets sufficient to compute the convolution product and we show that the wave front set of the convolution product of two distributions is essentially the product of their wave front sets in the symplectic groupoid $T^*G$ of Coste-Dazord-Weinstein. This also leads to a subalgebra $\cE\_{a}'(G,\Omega^{1/2})$ of $\cE\_{r,s}'(G,\Omega^{1/2})$ which contains for instance the algebra of pseudodifferential $G$-operators and a class of Fourier integral $G$-operators which will be the central theme of a forthcoming paper.

Wavelet characterizations of the Sobolev wavefront set: bandlimited wavelets and compactly supported wavelets

Abstract:We consider the problem of characterizing the Sobolev wavefront set of a tempered distribution $u\in\mathcal{S}'(\mathbb{R}^{d})$ in terms of its continuous wavelet transform, with the latter being defined with respect to a suitably chosen dilation group $H\subset{\rm GL}(\mathbb{R}^{d})$. We derive necessary and sufficient criteria for elements of the Sobolev wavefront set, formulated in terms of the decay behaviour of a given generalized continuous wavelet transform. It turns out that the characterization of directed smoothness of finite order can be performed in the two important cases: (1) bandlimited wavelets, and (2) wavelets with finitely many vanishing moments (e.g.~compactly supported wavelets).

Abstract:We introduce a theory of twisted simplicial distributions on simplicial principal bundles, which allow us to capture Bell's non-locality, and the more general notion of quantum contextuality. We leverage the classical theory of simplicial principal bundles, as well as structures on categories of such bundles, to provide powerful computational tools for analyzing twisted distributions in terms of both direct constructions in simplicial sets and techniques from homological algebra. We use these techniques to analyze our key examples: quantum distributions and operator-theoretic polytopes used in the classical simulation of quantum computation.

Abstract:We endow twisted tensor products with a natural notion of counit and comultiplication, and we provide sufficient and necessary conditions making the twisted tensor product a counital coassociative coalgebra. We then characterize when the twisted tensor product of bialgebras is a bialgebra, and when the twisted tensor product of Frobenius algebras is a Frobenius algebra. Our methods are purely diagrammatic, so these results hold for (braided) monoidal categories. As an application, we recover that some quantum complete intersections are Frobenius algebras, and we construct families of noncommutative symmetric Frobenius algebras. Along the way, we also characterize when twisted tensor products of separable algebras are separable, and we prove that twisted tensor products of special Frobenius algebras are special Frobenius.

Abstract:In this note we show that the twisted convolution algebra $L^1_{\alpha,\omega}({\sf G},\mathfrak A)$ associated to a twisted action of a locally compact group ${\sf G}$ on a $C^*$-algebra $\mathfrak A$ has the following property: Every quotient by a closed two-sided ideal of finite codimension produces a semisimple algebra. We use this property, together with results of H. Dales and G. Willis, to build up on previous results of the author and produce large classes of examples of algebras with properties of automatic continuity.

Twisted fusion products and quantum twisted Q-systems

Abstract:We obtain a complete characterization of the space of matrix elements dual to the graded multiplicity space arising from fusion products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over special twisted current algebras defined by Kus and Venkatesh, which generalizes the result of Ardonne and Kedem to the special twisted current algebras. We also prove the conjectural identity of $q$-graded fermionic sums by Hatayama \emph{et al.} for the special twisted current algebras, from which we deduce that the graded tensor product multiplicities of the fusion products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules over special twisted current algebras are both given by the $q$-graded fermionic sums, and constant term evaluations of products of solutions of the quantum twisted $Q$-systems obtained by Di Francesco and Kedem.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a connected reductive $p$-adic group. As verified for unipotent representations, it is expected that there is a close relation between the (Harish-Chandra-Howe) wavefronts sets of irreducible smooth representations and their Langlands parameters in the local Langlands correspondence via the Lusztig-Spaltenstein duality and the Aubert-Zelevinsky duality. In this paper, we define the $\Gamma$-asymptotic wavefront sets generalizing the notion of wavefront sets via the $\Gamma$-asymptotic expansions (in the sense of Kim-Murnaghan), and then study the their relation with the Langlands parameters. When $G=GL_n$, it turns out that this reduces to the corresponding relation of unipotent representations of the appropriate twisted Levi subgroups via Hecke algebra isomorphisms. For unipotent representations of $GL_n$, we also describe the Harish-Chandra-Howe (HCH) local character expansions of irreducible smooth representations using Kazhdan-Lusztig theory, and give another computation of the coefficients in the HCH expansion and the wavefront sets.

A nonabelian Fourier transform for tempered unipotent representations

Abstract:We define an involution on the space of compact tempered unipotent representations of inner twists of a split simple $p$-adic group $G$ and investigate its behaviour with respect to restrictions to reductive quotients of maximal compact open subgroups. In particular, we formulate a precise conjecture about the relation with a version of Lusztig's nonabelian Fourier transform on the space of unipotent representations of the (possibly disconnected) reductive quotients of maximal compact subgroups. We give evidence of the conjecture, including proofs for $\mathsf{SL}_n$ and $\mathsf{PGL}_n$.

Temperedness of locally symmetric spaces: The product case

Abstract:Let $X=X_1\times X_2$ be a product of two rank one symmetric spaces of non-compact type and $\Gamma$ a torsion-free discrete subgroup in $G_1\times G_2$. We show that the spectrum of $\Gamma \backslash X$ is related to the asymptotic growth of $\Gamma$ in the two direction defined by the two factors. We obtain that $L^2(\Gamma \backslash G)$ is tempered for large class of $\Gamma$.

Abstract:In this paper we define Schwartz families in tempered distribution spaces and prove many their properties. Schwartz families are the analogous of infinite dimensional matrices of separable Hilbert spaces, but for the Schwartz test function spaces, having elements (functions) realizable as vectors indexed by real Euclidean spaces (ordered families of scalars indexed by real Euclidean spaces). In the paper, indeed, one of the consequences of the principal result (the characterization of summability for Schwartz families) is that the space of linear continuous operators among Schwartz test function spaces is linearly isomorphic with the space of Schwartz families. It should be noticed that this theorem is possible because of the very good properties of Schwartz test function spaces and because of the particular structures of the Schwartz families viewed as generalized matrices; in fact, any family of tempered distribution, regarded as generalized matrix, has one index belonging to a Euclidean space and one belonging to a test function space, so that any Schwartz family is a matrix in the sense of distributions. Another motivation for the introduction and study of these families is that these are the families which are summable with respect to every tempered system of coefficients, in the sense of superpositions. The Schwartz families we present in this paper are one possible rigorous and simply manageable mathematical model for the infinite matrices used frequently in Quantum Mechanics.

Abstract:For every element w in the Weyl group of a simple Lie algebra g, De Concini, Kac, and Procesi defined a subalgebra U_q^w of the quantized universal enveloping algebra U_q(g). The algebra U_q^w is a deformation of the universal enveloping algebra U(n_+\cap w.n_-). We construct smash products of certain finite-type De Concini-Kac-Procesi algebras to obtain ones of affine type; we have analogous constructions in types A_n and D_n. We show that the multiplication in the affine type De Concini-Kac-Procesi algebras arising from this smash product construction can be twisted by a cocycle to produce certain subalgebras related to the corresponding Faddeev-Reshetikhin-Takhtajan bialgebras.

Twisted convolution algebras with coefficients on a differential subalgebra

Abstract:Let $(\alpha, \omega)$ be a measurable twisted action of the locally compact group ${\sf G}$ on a Banach $^*$-algebra $\mathfrak B$ and $\mathfrak A$ a differential $^*$-subalgebra of $\mathfrak B$, invariant under $(\alpha, \omega)$. We observe that $L^1_{\alpha,\omega}({\sf G},\mathfrak A)$ is a differential subalgebra of $L^1_{\alpha,\omega}({\sf G},\mathfrak B)$. We use this fact to provide new examples of groups with symmetric Banach $^*$-algebras. In particular, we prove that discrete rigidly symmetric extensions of compact groups are symmetric or that semidirect products ${\sf K}\rtimes{\sf H}$, with ${\sf H}$ symmetric and ${\sf K}$ compact, are symmetric.

Tensor products of Drinfeld modules and convolutions of Goss $L$-series

Abstract:Following the same framework of the special value results of convolutions of Goss and Pellarin $L$-series attached to Drinfeld modules that take values in Tate algebras by Papanikolas and the author, we establish special value results of convolutions of two Goss $L$-series attached to Drinfeld modules that take values in ${\mathbb{F}_q}(\!(\frac{1}{\theta})\!).$ Applying the class module formula of Fang to tensor products of two Drinfeld modules, we provide special value formulas for their $L$-functions. By way of the theory of Schur polynomials these identities take the form of specializations of convolutions of Rankin-Selberg type. Finally, we show an explicit computation of the regulators appearing in Fang's class module formula for tensor products as well as symmetric and alternating squares of Drinfeld modules.

Abstract:Given a group G and a partial factor set of G , we introduce the twisted partial group algebra which governs the partial projective -representations of G into algebras over a field Using the relation between partial projective representations and twisted partial actions we endow with the structure of a crossed product by a twisted partial action of G on a commutative subalgebra of Then, we use twisted partial group algebras to obtain a first quadrant Grothendieck spectral sequence converging to the Hochschild homology of the crossed product involving the Hochschild homology of A and the partial homology of G , where is a unital twisted partial action of G on a -algebra A with a -based twist. An analogous third quadrant cohomological spectral sequence is also obtained.

Abstract:We show that every Fricke invariant meromorphic modular form for $\Gamma_0(N)$ whose divisor on $X_0(N)$ is defined over $\mathbb{Q}$ and supported on Heegner divisors and the cusps is a generalized Borcherds product associated to a harmonic Maass form of weight $1/2$. Further, we derive a criterion for the finiteness of the multiplier systems of generalized Borcherds products in terms of the vanishing of the central derivatives of $L$-function of certain weight $2$ newforms. We also prove similar results for twisted Borcherds products.

The stable wave front set of theta representations

Abstract:We compute the stable wave front set of theta representations for certain tame Brylinski-Deligne covers of a connected reductive $p$-adic group. The computation involves two main inputs. First we use a theorem of Okada, adapted to covering groups, to reduce the computation of the wave front set to computing the Kawanaka wave front set of certain representations of finite groups of Lie type. Second, to compute the Kawanaka wave front sets we use Lusztig's formula. This requires a careful analysis of the action of the pro-$p$ Iwahori-Hecke algebra on the theta representation, using the structural results about Hecke algebras developed by Gao-Gurevich-Karasiewicz and Wang.

Abstract:We unify and generalize several approaches to constructing braid group representations from finite groups, using iterated twisted tensor products. We provide some general characterizations and classification of these representations, focusing on the size of their images, which are typically finite groups. The well-studied Gaussian representations associated with metaplectic modular categories can be understood in this framework, and we give some new examples to illustrate their ubiquity. Our results suggest a relationship between the braiding on the G-gaugings of a pointed modular category $${\mathcal {C}}(A,Q)$$ and that of $${\mathcal {C}}(A,Q)$$ itself.
