Abstract:Objective To study the chemical constituents in the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre Retz. Schult. From Guangxi Province. Methods Silica gel,low pressure,ODS-medium pressure column chromatography are used to isolate pure compounds;and their structures are identified by spectral methods together with physiochemical analyses combined with scientific documents. Results Nine compouds are isolated from the n-butanol extraction,four saponins among them have been reported in another paper.The other five compouds are identified as three saponins and two prosapogenins new chemical compounds. By physical-chemical constants and spectral analyses.Their structures are 12-isobutylene-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-D- glucopyranosyl ester(1),12-isobutylene-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1 → 6)-β-D-glucopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-Dglucopyranosylester(2),12-isobutylene-3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1→6)-β-D- glucopyranosyl(1 → 6)-β-D-xylopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-D- glucopyranosyl ester(3),oleanolic acid(4), And longispinogenin(5). Conclusion Compounds 1,2,3,4,5 are first obtained from the plant of Gymnema sylvestre Retz. Schult.
