Abstract:The present paper is a continuation of [t~0] and []~Z] which are devoted to the existence of global isometric embeddings in R 3 of nonnegatively curved surfaces. In particular, [GL] and [HZ] independently prove that any C 4 nonnegative curvature metric defined over S 2 always has a C 1'1 isometric embedding in _R s. For the noncompact case, for example given a complete metric with positive curvature defined on R 2, based on the Aleksandrov's theory on the convex surfaces Olovjanisnlkov gave the weak solution to the isometric embedding problem in R a of this noncompact positively curved surface and Pogorelov showed that if the metric is smooth, so is this isometric embedding.
