Abstract:In this paper, we study some new fixed point results for self maps defined on partial metric type spaces. In particular, we give common fixed point theorems in the same setting. Some examples are given which illustrate the results.

Fixed Point Theory and Applications

Abstract:In 1994, Matthews obtained an extension of the celebrated Banach fixed point theorem to the partial metric framework (Ann. N.Y. Acad. Sci. 728:183-197, 1994). Motivated by the Matthews extension of the Banach theorem, we present a Nemytskii-Edelstein type fixed point theorem for self-mappings in partial metric spaces in such a way that the classical one can be retrieved as a particular case of our new result. We give examples which show that the assumed hypothesis in our new result cannot be weakened. Moreover, we show that our new fixed point theorem allows one to find fixed points of mappings in some cases in which the Matthews result and the classical Nemytskii-Edelstein one cannot be applied. Furthermore, we provide a negative answer to the question about whether our new result can be retrieved as a particular case of the classical Nemytskii-Edelstein one whenever the metrization technique, developed by Hitzler and Seda (Mathematical Aspects of Logic Programming Semantics, 2011), is applied to partial metric spaces.

Abstract:In this short note, we obtain partial quasi-metric versions of Kannan's fixed point theorem for self-mappings. Moreover, we use these fixed points results to characterize a certain type of completeness in partial quasi-metric spaces. We have reported an example to support our result.

Abstract:In this article, we prove some fixed point theorems in metric type spaces. This article is just a generalization some results previously proved in \cite{niyi-gaba}. In particular, we give some coupled common fixed points theorems under weak contractions. These results extend well known similar results existing in the literature.

Abstract:A general fixed point theorem for isometries in terms of metric functionals is proved under the assumption of the existence of a conical bicombing. It is new for isometries of convex sets of Banach spaces as well as for non-locally compact CAT(0)-spaces and injective spaces. Examples of actions on non-proper CAT(0)-spaces come from the study of diffeomorphism groups, birational transformations, and compact Kähler manifolds. A special case of the fixed point theorem provides a novel mean ergodic theorem that in the Hilbert space case implies von Neumann's theorem. The theorem accommodates classically fixed-point-free isometric maps such as those of Kakutani, Edelstein, Alspach and Prus. Moreover, from the main theorem together with some geometric arguments of independent interest, one can deduce that every bounded invertible operator of a Hilbert space admits a nontrivial invariant metric functional on the space of positive operators. This is a result in the direction of the invariant subspace problem although its full meaning is dependent on a future determination of such metric functionals.

Abstract:Geometric properties of the fixed point set $Fix(f)$ of a self-mapping $f$ on a metric or a generalized metric space is an attractive issue. The set $Fix(f)$ can contain a geometric figure (a circle, an ellipse, etc.) or it can be a geometric figure. In this paper, we consider the set of simulation functions for geometric applications in the fixed point theory both on metric and some generalized metric spaces ($S$-metric spaces and $b$-metric spaces). The main motivation of this paper is to investigate the geometric properties of non unique fixed points of self-mappings via simulation functions.

Abstract:In this article, we use $\lambda$-sequences to derive common fixed points for a family of self-mappings defined on a complete $G$-metric space. We imitate some existing techniques in our proofs and show that the tools emlyed can be used at a larger scale. These results generalise well known results in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we give and prove two Chatterjea type fixed point theorems on partial $b$-metric space. We propose an extension to the Banach contraction principle on partial $b$-metric space which was already presented by Shukla and also study some related results on the completion of a partial metric type space. In particular, we prove a joint Chatterjea-Kannan fixed point theorem. We verify the $T$-stability of Picard's iteration and conjecture the $P$ property for such maps. We also give examples to illustrate our results.

Abstract:Motivated by Gopal and Vetro [Iranian Journal of Fuzzy Systems, 11(3), 95-107], we introduce a symmetric pair of $\beta$-admissible mappings and obtain common fixed point theorems for such a pair in complete and weak $G$-complete fuzzy metric spaces. In particular, we rectified, generalize and improve the common fixed point theorem obtained by Turkoglu and Sangurlu [Journal of Intelligent & Fuzzy Systems, 26(1), 137-142] for two fuzzy $\psi$-contractive mappings. We include non-trivial examples to exhibit the generality and demonstrate our results.

In this paper, we obtain new fixed point theorems assuming that T satisfies a contractive-type condition of the following form: $$\begin{aligned} \psi (d(Tx,Ty)) \le \varphi (d(x,y)) \end{aligned}$$or T satisfies a generalized contractive-type condition of the form $$\begin{aligned} \psi (d(Tx,Ty)) \le \varphi (m(x,y)), \end{aligned}$$where ${\psi ,\varphi :(0,\infty ) \rightarrow {\mathbb {R}}}$ and m(x, y) is defined by $$\begin{aligned} m(x,y) = \max \left\{ d(x,y), d(x,Tx), d(y,Ty), [d(x,Ty)+d(y,Tx)] / 2 \right\} . \end{aligned}$$In both cases, the results extend and unify many earlier results. Among the other results, we prove that recent fixed point theorems of Wardowski (2012) and Jleli and Samet (2014) are equivalent to a special case of the well-known fixed point theorem of Skof (1977).

Topological Methods in Nonlinear Analysis

Abstract:Let be a bounded, closed and convex subset of a reflexive metric space with a digraph such that -intervals along walks are closed and convex. In the main theorem we show that if is a monotone -nonexpansive mapping and there exists such that , then has a fixed point provided for each , has the fixed point property for nonexpansive mappings. In particular, it gives an essential generalization of the Dehaish-Khamsi theorem concerning partial orders in complete uniformly convex hyperbolic metric spaces. Some counterparts of this result for modular spaces, and for commutative families of mappings are given too.
