Abstract:A unified chiral mean field approach is presented for QCD thermodynamics in a wide range of temperatures and densities. The model simultaneously gives a satisfactory description of lattice QCD thermodynamics and fulfills nuclear matter and astrophysical constraints. The resulting equation of state can be incorporated in relativistic fluid-dynamical simulations of heavy-ion collisions and neutron stars mergers. Access to different regions of the QCD phase diagram can be obtained in simulations of heavy-ion data and observations of neutron star mergers.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper aims to solve the equation - of - state problem of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) under high - density conditions. Specifically, the researchers attempt to construct a unified model that can describe the statistical and thermodynamic properties of QCD matter over a wide range of temperatures and densities. This model needs to simultaneously satisfy the lattice QCD thermodynamic data and the constraints of nuclear matter and astrophysics. Through this model, the researchers hope to better understand and predict the physical processes in phenomena such as heavy - ion collisions and neutron - star mergers in relativistic hydrodynamic simulations. The key point of the paper is the development of a unified Chiral Mean Field (CMF) method. This method can not only describe lattice QCD thermodynamics well but also meet the limitations of nuclear matter and astrophysics. The equation - of - state obtained by this method can be applied to the simulations of heavy - ion collisions and neutron - star mergers, thereby exploring different regions of the QCD phase diagram. In addition, this model also pays special attention to the relationship between the restoration of chiral symmetry and deconfinement, as well as the question of whether there is a first - order phase transition at a finite baryon number density.
