Abstract:In the paper two important theorems about complete affine spheres are generalized to the case of statistical structures on abstract manifolds. The assumption about constant sectional curvature is replaced by the assumption that the curvature satisfies some inequalities.

Abstract:The authors consider the problem of conformally deforming a metric such that the k-curvature defined by an elementary symmetric function of the eigenvalues of the Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor on a compact manifold with boundary to a prescribed function. A consequence of our main result is that there exists a complete metric such that the Monge-Ampère type equation with respect to its Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor is solvable, provided that the initial Bakry-Emery Ricci tensor belongs to a negative convex cone.

Abstract:We study the problem of finding complete conformal metrics determined by some symmetric function of the modified Schouten tensor on compact manifolds with boundary; which reduces to a Dirichlet problem. We prove the existence of the solution under some suitable conditions. In particular, we prove that every smooth compact n-dimensional manifold with boundary, with n >= 3, admits a complete Riemannian metric g whose Ricci curvature Ric(g) and scalar curvature R-g satisfydet(Ric(g) - R(g)g) = const.This result generalizes Aviles and McOwen's in the scalar curvature case.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the limit structure of a sequence of Riemannian manifolds with Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature bounded below in the Gromov-Hausdorff topology. By extending the techniques established by Cheeger-Cloding for Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded below, we prove that each tangent space at a point of the limit space is a metric cone. We also analyze the singular structure of the limit space analogous to a work of Cheeger-Colding-Tian. Our results will be applied to study the limit space of a sequence of Kähler metrics arising from solutions of certain complex Monge-Ampère equations for the existence of Kähler-Ricci solitons on a Fano manifold via the continuity method.

Abstract:In this article we first show that any finite cover of the moduli space of closed Riemann surfaces of genus $g$ with $g\geq 2$ does not admit any Riemannian metric $ds^2$ of nonnegative scalar curvature such that $ds^2 \succ ds_{T}^2$ where $ds_{T}^2$ is the Teichm\"uller metric. Our second result is the proof that any cover $M$ of the moduli space $\mathbb{M}_{g}$ of a closed Riemann surface $S_{g}$ does not admit any complete Riemannian metric of uniformly positive scalar curvature in the quasi-isometry class of the Teichm\"uller metric, which implies a conjecture of Farb-Weinberger.

Abstract:We study the curvature of metric spaces and branched covers of Riemannian manifolds, with applications in topology and algebraic geometry. Here curvature bounds are expressed in terms of the CAT(k) inequality. We prove a general CAT(k) extension theorem, giving sufficient conditions on and near the boundary of a locally CAT(k) metric space for the completion to be CAT(k). We use this to prove that a branched cover of a complete Riemannian manifold is locally CAT(k) if and only if all tangent spaces are CAT(0) and the base has sectional curvature bounded above by k. We also show that the branched cover is a geodesic space. Using our curvature bound and a local asphericity assumption we give a sufficient condition for the branched cover to be globally CAT(k) and the complement of the branch locus to be contractible. We conjecture that the universal branched cover of complex Euclidean n-space over the mirrors of a finite Coxeter group is CAT(0). Conditionally on this conjecture, we use our machinery to prove the Arnol'd-Pham-Thom conjecture on K(pi,1) spaces for Artin groups. Also conditionally, we prove the asphericity of moduli spaces of amply lattice-polarized K3 surfaces and of the discriminant complements of all the unimodal hypersurface singularities in Arnol'd's hierarchy.

Abstract:In this note, we study the relation between the existence of a negatively curved complete hermitian metric on a complex manifold M and the product structure of (or contained in) M. We introduce the concept of geometric ranks and give a curvature characterization of the rank one manifolds, which generalizes the previous results of P. Yang and N. Mok (see below). In the proof, we used the old techniques of Yau's Schwartz lemma and Cheng-Yau's result on the existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics.

Abstract:It is proved that the equality $\Delta\ln|\kappa-\lambda|=6\kappa$, where $\kappa$ is the Gaussian curvature of a metric tensor g on a 2-dimensional manifold is a sufficient and necessary condition for local realizability of the metric as the Blaschke metric of some affine sphere.

Abstract:In this article, we study a class of Kahler manifolds defined on tube domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, and in particular those which have $O(n) \times \mathbb{R}^n$ symmetry. For these, we prove a uniqueness result showing that any such manifold which is complete and has bisectional curvature ($n \geq 3$) or bisectional curvature ($n \geq 2$) is biholomorphically isometric to $\mathbb{C}^n$. We also consider another curvature tensor called the orthogonal curvature and find necessary and sufficient conditions for a complete $O(n)$-symmetric tube domain to have non-negative anti-bisectional curvature. We provide several examples of complete metrics which satisfy this condition. These examples are also of interest to optimal transport, as they can be used to generate new examples of cost functions which only depend on the Euclidean distance between points and satisfy the weak MTW condition. Finally, we discuss how the interplay between optimal transport and complex geometry can be used to define a synthetic version of curvature bounds for Kahler manifolds whose associated potential is merely $C^3$.

Abstract: In this article, we study a class of K\"ahler manifolds defined on tube domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, and in particular those which have $O(n) \times \mathbb{R}^n$ symmetry. For these, we prove a uniqueness result showing that any such manifold which is complete and has non-negative orthogonal bisectional curvature ($n \geq 3$) or non-negative bisectional curvature ($n \geq 2$) is biholomorphically isometric to $\mathbb{C}^n$. We also consider another curvature tensor called the \emph{orthogonal anti-bisectional curvature}. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for a complete $O(n)$-symmetric tube domain to have non-negative orthogonal anti-bisectional curvature and provide several examples of complete metrics which satisfy this condition. Finally, we discuss some applications of these spaces within optimal transport. In particular, we study "synthetic" curvature bounds for non-smooth geometries and how they can be applied to the rough geometry induced by the Monge cost $c(x,y)=\|x-y\|$.
How curved is a random complex curve?

Abstract:In this paper, we study the curvature properties of random complex plane curves. We bound from below the probability that a uniform proportion of the area of a random complex degree $d$ plane curve has a curvature smaller than $-d/8$. Our lower bound is uniform, in the sense that it does not depend on $d$. We also provide uniform upper bounds for similar probabilities. These results extend to random complex curves of projective surfaces equipped with an ample line bundle. This paper can be viewed as a sequel of [1], where other metric statistics were given. On a larger time scale, it joins the general program initiated in [11] of understanding random complex hypersurfaces of projective manifolds.

Abstract:We prove that closed manifolds admitting a generic metric whose sectional curvature is locally quasi-constant are graphs of space forms. In the more general setting of QC spaces where sets of isotropic points are arbitrary, under suitable positivity assumption and for torsion-free fundamental groups they are still diffeomorphic to connected sums of spherical space forms and spherical bundles over the circle.

On the curvatures of random complex submanifolds

Abstract:For any integers $n\geq 2$ and $1\leq r\leq n-1$ satisfying $3r\geq 2n-1$, we show that the expected volume fraction of a random degree $d$ complex submanifold of $\C\mathbb{P}^n$ of codimension $r$ where the bisectional holomorphic curvature (for the induced ambient metric) is negative tends to one when $d$ goes to infinity. Here, the probability measure is the natural one associated with the Fubini--Study metric. We provide similar estimates for the holomorphic sectional curvature, the Ricci curvature, and the scalar curvature. Our results hold more generally for random submanifolds within any complex projective manifold.

On a Torsion/Curvature Analogue of Dual Connections and Statistical Manifolds

Abstract:In analogy to the concept of a non-metric dual connection, which is essential in defining statistical manifolds, we develop that of a torsion dual connection. Consequently, we illustrate the geometrical meaning of such a torsion dual connection and show how the use of both connections preserves the cracking of parallelograms in spaces equipped with a connection and its torsion dual. The coefficients of such a torsion dual connection are essentially computed by demanding a vanishing mutual torsion among the two connections. For this manifold we then prove two basic Theorems. In particular, if both connections are metric-compatible we show that there exists a specific $3$-form measuring how the connection and its torsion dual deviate away from the Levi-Civita one. Furthermore, we prove that for these torsion dual manifolds flatness of one connection does not necessary impose flatness on the other but rather that the curvature tensor of the latter is given by a specific divergence. Finally, we give a self-consistent definition of the mutual curvature tensor of two connections and subsequently define the notion of a curvature dual connection.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the non-existence of non-trivial statistical structures of constant holomorphic sectional curvature based on complex space forms with dimension greater than 2. For 2-dimensional complex space forms we show an example to illustrate there do exist non-trivial statistical structures of constant holomorphic sectional curvature, and we also obtain a rigidity theorem in this case. Finally, in contrast to complex space forms, we construct some new examples of non-trivial statistical structures of constant sectional curvature based on real space forms.

Symmetry Integrability and Geometry Methods and Applications

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following curvature equation where , , , and are positive non-integers for , while are integers for . Geometrically, a solution gives rise to a conical metric of curvature on the sphere, with conical singularities at , , , and , , with angles , , , and at , , , and , respectively. The metric or the solution is called co-axial, which was introduced by Mondello and Panov, if there is a developing map of such that the projective monodromy group is contained in the unit circle. The sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of angles for the existence of such metrics were obtained by Mondello-Panov (2016) and Eremenko (2020). In this paper, we fix the angles and study the locations of the singularities . Let be the set of those 's such that a co-axial metric exists, among other things we prove that (i) If , i.e., there is only one integer among , then is a finite set. Moreover, for the case , we obtain a sharp bound of the cardinality of the set . We apply a result due to Eremenko, Gabrielov, and Tarasov (2016) and the monodromy of hypergeometric equations to obtain such a bound. (ii) If , then is an algebraic set of dimension .

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the classifications of -Kenmotsu statistical structures of constant -sectional curvature on -Kenmotsu space forms. Our results show that such -Kenmotsu statistical structures on a -Kenmotsu space form with dimension greater than 3 must be almost-trivial; on a 3-dimensional -Kenmotsu space form, in addition to the almost-trivial -Kenmotsu statistical structure, there exist other -Kenmotsu statistical structures which satisfy the constant -sectional curvature condition. These results generalize and improve the corresponding results for Kenmotsu statistical manifolds Jiang et al. (Hacet J Math Stat 51(3):800–816, 2022) as well as cosymplectic statistical manifolds Yan et al. (J Geom Phys 196:105076, 2024). Before obtaining these main results on -Kenmotsu statistical structures, we also obtain the expression for the curvature tensor of the -Kenmotsu space form in terms of Riemannian geometry, and many examples are given by using warped products.
