Abstract:In this paper, we investigate subnormal subgroups of the multiplicative group of an almost locally simple artinian algebra with involution. In particular, we show that if either the set of traces or the set of norms of such a subgroup with respect to this involution is central, then the algebra must be either a quaternion division algebra or the matrix ring of degree $2$ over a field.

Abstract:Let G be a finite group and $${\mathfrak {F}}$$ a class of groups. A subgroup A of G is said to be $${\mathfrak {F}}$$ -normal in G if either $$A\trianglelefteq G$$ or $$A_{G}\ne A^{G}$$ and every chief factor H/K of G between $$A_{G}$$ and $$A^{G}$$ is $${\mathfrak {F}}$$ -central in G, that is, $$(H/K)\rtimes (G/C_{G}(H/K)) \in {\mathfrak {F}}$$ . We say that a subgroup H of G is $${\mathfrak {F}}\wedge sn$$ -embedded if for some $${\mathfrak {F}}$$ -normal subgroup A and subnormal subgroup B of G we have $$H=A\cap B$$ . In this paper, we analyze the influence of $${\mathfrak {F}}\wedge sn$$ -embedded subgroups on the structure of a group. In particular, we prove the following generalization of Schenkman’s Theorem on the nilpotent residual of subnormal subgroups: If $${\mathfrak {F}}$$ is a hereditary saturated formation containing all nilpotent groups and S is an $${\mathfrak {F}}\wedge sn$$ -embedded subgroup of G, such that $$Z_{\mathfrak {F}}(E)=1$$ for every subgroup E of G containing S, then $$C_{G}(S^{{\mathfrak {F}}})\le S^{\mathfrak {F}}$$ .

Abstract:Let G be an almost linear Nash group, namely, a Nash group that admits a Nash homomorphism with finite kernel to some GLk(R). A homology theory (the Schwartz homology) is established for the category of smooth Fréchet representations of G of moderate growth. Frobenius reciprocity and Shapiro's lemma are proved in this category. As an application, we give a criterion for automatic extensions of Schwartz homologies of Schwartz sections of a tempered G-vector bundle.

Abstract:In the current paper we study the groups, whose subnormal abelian subgroups are normal. We obtained a quite detailed description of such hyperabelian groups with a periodic Baer radical. The description of hyperabelian Lie algebras, whose abelian subideals are ideals, is also obtained.

For an irreducible smooth complex representation of , inspired by work of R. Howe when , we establish the existence and uniqueness of integers , for partitions of , such that for any small enough compact open subgroup of , the restriction of to is the same as that of the virtual representation , where the sum is over partitions of and is a parabolic subgroup of in the associate class determined by . When is minimal such that , we prove that is positive, equal to the dimension of a generalized Whittaker model of . We elucidate the behavior of under the Jacquet–Langlands correspondence of Badulescu from to . We extend the above result on near identity to a representation of over a field with characteristic not . Abstract:Let H be a subgroup of a group G . We say that H is c -subnormal in G if there exists a subnormal subgroup T of G such that H ⁢ T = G and H ∩ T ⩽ H G , where H G is the maximal normal subgroup of G which is contained in H . In this paper, we investigate the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that all maximal subgroups are c -subnormal subgroups and present some new conditions for supersolvability.

On non self-normalizing subgroups

Abstract:Let $n$ be a non negative integer, and define $D_n$ to be the family of all finite groups having precisely $n$ conjugacy classes of nontrivial subgroups that are not self-normalizing. We are interested in studying the behavior of $D_n$ and its interplay with solvability and nilpotency. We first show that if $G$ belongs to $D_n$ with $n \le 3$, then $G$ is solvable of derived length at most 2. We also show that $A_5$ is the unique nonsolvable group in $D_4$, and that $SL_2(3)$ is the unique solvable group in $D_4$ whose derived length is larger than 2. For a group $G$, we define $D(G)$ to be the number of conjugacy classes of nontrivial subgroups that are not self-normalizing. We determine the relationship between $D(H \times K)$ and $D(H)$ and $D(K)$. We show that if $G$ is nilpotent and lies in $D_n$, then $G$ has nilpotency class at most $n/2$ and its derived length is at most $\log_2 (n/2) + 1$. We consider $D_n$ for several classes of Frobenius groups, and we use this classification to classify the groups in $D_0$, $D_1$, $D_2$, and $D_3$. Finally, we show that if $G$ is solvable and lies in $D_n$ with $n \ge 3$, then $G$ has derived length at most the minimum of $n-1$ and $3 \log_2 (n+1) + 9$.

Abstract:Let $$\sigma =\{\sigma _i:i\in I\}$$ be a partition of the set $$ {\mathbb {P}}$$ of all prime numbers, G a finite group, $$\pi (G)$$ the set of all primes dividing |G|, and $$\sigma (G)=\{\sigma _i : \sigma _i\cap \pi (G)\ne \emptyset \}$$ . The group G is called a $$\sigma $$ -group if G has a set of subgroups $${\mathcal {H}}$$ such that every non-trivial subgroup contained in $${\mathcal {H}}$$ is a Hall $$\sigma _i$$ -subgroup of G and $${\mathcal {H}}$$ contains exactly one Hall $$\sigma _i$$ -subgroup of G for every $$\sigma _i\in \sigma (G).$$ In this paper, we investigate the structure of the $$\sigma $$ -groups G by using the $$\sigma $$ -normality, $$\sigma $$ -permutability, and $$\sigma $$ -subnormality of maximal subgroups of elements in $${\mathcal {H}}$$ . Some criteria of supersolubility and $$\sigma $$ -solubility of G are obtained, which generalize some classical results of Srinivasan.

Abstract:We establish two characterizations of an algebraic group scheme $\bigwedge^m GL_n$ over $\mathbb{Z}$. Geometrically, the scheme $\bigwedge^m GL_n$ is a stabilizer of an explicitly given invariant form or, generally, an invariant ideal of forms. Algebraically, $\bigwedge^m GL_n$ is isomorphic (as a scheme over $\mathbb{Z}$) to a normalizer of the elementary subgroup functor $\bigwedge^m E_n$ and a normalizer of the subscheme $\bigwedge^m SL_n$. Our immediate goal is to apply both descriptions in the "sandwich classification" of overgroups of the elementary subgroup. Additionally, the results can be seen as a solution of the linear preserver problem for algebraic group schemes over $\mathbb{Z}$, providing a more functorial description that goes beyond geometry of the classical case over fields.

Abstract:For a central division algebra $D$ of dimension $d^2$ over a finite extension $F$ of $\mathbb Q_p$ or of $\mathbb F_p((t))$, a field $R$ of characteristic prime to $p$, and an irreducible smooth $R$-representation $\pi$ of $G=GL_n(D)$, we show that for small enough compact open pro-$p$ subgroup $K$ of $G$, the restriction of $\pi$ to $K$ is the same as that of a virtual representation $\sum c_\pi(\lambda) Ind_{P_\lambda}^G 1$, where the sum is over partitions $\lambda$ of $n$ and $P_\lambda$ a parabolic subgroup of $G$ associated to $\lambda$. When $K$ is a Moy-Prasad subgroup of $G$ we determine from the $c_\pi(\lambda)$ a polynomial $P_{\pi,K}$ of degree $d(\pi)$ independent of the choice of $K$, such that for large enough integers $j$ the dimension of the points of $\pi$ fixed under the congruence subgroup $K_j$ of $K$ is $P_{\pi,K}(q^j)$ where $q$ is the cardinality of the residue field of $D$.

Abstract:In this note, we investigate a kind of double centralizer property for general linear supergroups. For the super space $V=\mathbb{K}^{m\mid n}$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{K}$ whose characteristic is not equal to $2$, we consider its $\mathbb{Z}_2$-homogeneous one-dimensional extension $\underline V=V\oplus\mathbb{K}v$, and the natural action of the supergroup $\tilde G:=\text{GL}(V)\times \textbf{G}_m$ on $\underline V$. Then we have the tensor product supermodule ($\underline{V}^{\otimes r}$, $\rho_r$) of $\tilde G$. We present a kind of generalized Schur-Sergeev duality which is said that the Schur superalgebras $S'(m|n,r)$ of $\tilde G$ and a so-called weak degenerate double Hecke algebra $\underline{\mathcal{H}}_r$ are double centralizers. The weak degenerate double Hecke algebra is an infinite dimensional algebra, which has a natural representation on the tensor product space. This notion comes from \cite{B-Y-Y2020}, with a little modification.

Abstract:Let $$\sigma =\{\sigma _i |i\in I\}$$ be some partition of all primes $${\mathbb {P}}$$ and G a finite group. A subgroup H of G is said to be $$\sigma $$ -subnormal in G if there exists a subgroup chain $$H=H_0\le H_1\le \cdots \le H_n=G$$ such that either $$H_{i-1}$$ is normal in $$H_i$$ or $$H_i/(H_{i-1})_{H_i}$$ is a finite $$\sigma _j$$ -group for some $$j \in I$$ for $$i = 1, \ldots , n$$ . We call a finite group G a $$T_{\sigma }$$ -group if every $$\sigma $$ -subnormal subgroup is normal in G. In this paper, we analyse the structure of the $$T_{\sigma }$$ -groups and give some characterisations of the $$T_{\sigma }$$ -groups.

A subgroup A of a group G is said to be sigma-subnormal in G if there is a subgroup chain A = A(0) <= A(1) <= . . . <= A(n) = G such that either A(i-1) >= A(i) or A(i)/(A(i-1))A(i) is a sigma(j)-group for some j = j(i) for all i = 1, . . ., n. In this review, we discuss some known results of the theory of sigma-subnormal subgroups and also some open questions in this line research.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with absolutely irreducible quasisimple subgroups $G$ of a finite general linear group $GL_d(\mathbb{F}_q)$ for which some element $g\in G$ of prime order $r$, in its action on the natural module $V=(\mathbb{F}_q)^d$, is irreducible on a subspace of the form $V(1-g)$ of dimension $d/2$. We classify $G,d,r$, the characteristic $p$ of the field $\mathbb{F}_q$, and we identify those examples where the element $g$ has a fixed point subspace of dimension $d/2$. Our proof relies on representation theory, in particular, the multiplicities of eigenvalues of $g$, and builds on earlier results of DiMuro.
