Abstract:Zhou and Zhu have shown that if is an ( n + 2)-angulated category and is a cluster tilting subcategory of , then the quotient category is an n -abelian category. We show that if has Auslander-Reiten ( n + 2)-angles, then has Auslander-Reiten n -exact sequences.

Abstract:Let $(\mathscr{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an $n$-exangulated category with enough projectives and enough injectives, and $\mathscr{X}$ be a cluster-tilting subcategory of $\mathscr{C}$. Liu and Zhou have shown that the quotient category $\mathscr{C}/\mathscr{X}$ is an $n$-abelian category. In this paper, we prove that if $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles, then $\mathscr{C}/\mathscr{X}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exact sequences. Moreover, we also show that if a Frobenius $n$-exangulated category $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles, then the stable category $\overline{\mathscr{C}}$ of $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $(n+2)$-angles.

Abstract:We show that a noetherian ring graded by an abelian group of finite rank satisfies the Auslander condition if and only if it satisfies the graded Auslander condition. In addition, we also study the injective dimension, the global dimension and the Cohen–Macaulay property from the same perspective as that for the Auslander condition. A key step of our approach is to establish homological relations between a graded ring [Formula: see text], its quotient ring modulo the ideal [Formula: see text] and its localization ring with respect to the Ore set [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is a homogeneous regular normal non-invertible element of [Formula: see text].

Abstract:Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an $n$-exangulated category. In this note, we show that if $\mathscr{C}$ is locally finite, then $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles. This unifies and extends results of Xiao-Zhu, Zhu-Zhuang, Zhou and Xie-Lu-Wang for triangulated, extriangulated, $(n+2)$-angulated and $n$-abelian categories, respectively.

Abstract:We generalise a theorem of Tachikawa about reflexive Auslander-Reiten sequences. We apply this to give a new characterisation of the dominant dimension of gendo-symmetric algebras. We also generalise a formula due to Reiten about the dominant dimension of an algebra $A$ and grades of torsion $A$-modules.

Auslander--Reiten theory in extriangulated categories

Abstract:The notion of an extriangulated category gives a unification of existing theories in exact or abelian categories and in triangulated categories. In this article, we develop Auslander--Reiten theory for extriangulated categories. This unifies Auslander--Reiten theories developed in exact categories and triangulated categories independently. We give two different sets of sufficient conditions on the extriangulated category so that existence of almost split extensions becomes equivalent to that of an Auslander--Reiten--Serre duality. We also show that existence of almost split extensions is preserved under taking relative extriangulated categories, ideal quotients, and extension-closed subcategories. Moreover, we prove that the stable category $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$ of an extriangulated category $\mathscr{C}$ is a $\tau$-category if $\mathscr{C}$ has enough projectives, almost split extensions and source morphisms. This gives various consequences on $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$, including Igusa--Todorov's Radical Layers Theorem, Auslander--Reiten Combinatorics on dimensions of Hom-spaces, and Reconstruction Theorem of the associated completely graded category of $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$ via the complete mesh category of the Auslander--Reiten species of $\underline{\mathscr{C}}$. Finally we prove that any locally finite symmetrizable $\tau$-quiver (=valued translation quiver) is an Auslander--Reiten quiver of some extriangulated category with sink morphisms and source morphisms.

Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories

Abstract:We study Auslander-Reiten theory in proper abelian subcategories of triangulated categories with a Serre functor. To initiate this, we use approximations of a Serre functor to construct Nakayama functors, which in turn allow for the construction of Auslander-Reiten translates and the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in suitable proper abelian subcategories. As an application, we recover the existence of Auslander-Reiten sequences in the category of finite dimensional modules over a finite dimensional algebra.

Abstract:Let $(\mathscr{C},\mathbb{E},\mathfrak{s})$ be an Ext-finite, Krull-Schmidt and $k$-linear $n$-exangulated category with $k$ a commutative artinian ring. In this note, we prove that $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality if and only if $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten $n$-exangles. Moreover, we also give an equivalent condition for the existence of Serre duality (which is a special type of Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality). Finally, assume further that $\mathscr{C}$ has Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality. We exploit a bijection triangle, which involves the restricted Auslander bijection and the Auslander-Reiten-Serre duality.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a higher dimensional version of Auslander-Iyama-Solberg correspondence. Iyama and Solberg have shown a bijection between $n$-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras and $n$-precluster tilting modules. If $A$ is an $n$-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebra, then the pair $(A,P)$ is a relative $(n+1)$-Auslander-Gorenstein pair in the sense of the authors, where $P$ is the minimal faithful projective-injective left $A$-module.

Relative Higher Homology and Representation Theory

Abstract:Higher homological algebra, basically done in the framework of an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory $\mathcal{M}$ of an abelian category $\mathcal{A}$, has been the topic of several recent researches. In this paper, we study a relative version, in the sense of Auslander-Solberg, of the higher homological algebra. To this end, we consider an additive sub-bifunctor $F$ of $\mathrm{Ext}^n_{\mathcal{M}}( -,-)$ as the basis of our relative theory. This, in turn, specifies a collection of $n$-exact sequences in $\mathcal{M}$, which allows us to delve into the relative higher homological algebra. Our results include a proof of the relative $n$-Auslander-Reiten duality formula, as well as an exploration of relative Grothendieck groups, among other results. As an application, we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for $\mathcal{M}$ to be of finite type.

Abstract:This paper surveys recent contructions in higher Auslander--Reiten theory. We focus on those which, due to their combinatorial properties, can be regarded as higher dimensional analogues of path algebras of linearly oriented type $\mathbb{A}$ quivers. These include higher dimensional analogues of Nakayama algebras, of the mesh category of type $\mathbb{Z}\mathbb{A}_\infty$ and the tubes, and of the triangulated category generated by an $m$-spherical object. For $m=2$, the latter category can be regarded as the higher cluster category of type $\mathbb{A}_\infty$ whose cluster-tilting combinatorics are controlled by the triangulations of the cylic apeirotope.

Characterizing higher Auslander(-Gorenstein) Algebras

Abstract:It is well known that for Auslander algebras, the category of all (finitely generated) projective modules is an abelian category and this property of abelianness characterizes Auslander algebras by Tachikawa theorem in 1974. Let $n$ be a positive integer. In this paper, by using torsion theoretic methods, we show that $ n $-Auslander algebras can be characterized by the abelianness of the category of modules with projective dimension less than $ n $ and a certain additional property, extending the classical Auslander-Tachikawa theorem. By Auslander-Iyama correspondence a categorical characterization of the class of Artin algebras having $ n $-cluster tilting modules is obtained. Since higher Auslander algebras are a special case of higher Auslander-Gorenstein algebras, the results are given in the general setting as extending previous results of Kong. Moreover, as an application of some results, we give categorical descriptions for the semisimplicity and selfinjectivity of an Artin algebra. Higher Auslander-Gorenstein Algebras are also studied from the viewpoint of cotorsion pairs and, as application, we show that they satisfy in two nice equivalences.

Abstract:Auslander-Reiten duality for module categories is generalized to some sufficiently nice subcategories. In particular, our consideration works for $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}(\Lambda)$, the subcategory consisting of finitely generated modules with finite projective dimension over an artin algebra $\Lambda$, and also, the subcategory of Gorenstein projectove modules of $\rm{mod}\mbox{-}\Lambda$, denoted by $\rm{Gprj}\mbox{-}\Lambda$. In this paper, we give a method to compute the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\mathcal{P}^{<\infty}(\Lambda)$ whenever $\Lambda$ is a $1$-Gorenstein algebra. In addition, we characterize when the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\rm{Gprj}\mbox{-}\Lambda$ is the first syzygy and provide many algebras having such property.

Abstract:Given a field k and a subgroup H of a finite group G , we define a duality for quotients of homomorphisms of kG -modules modulo kG -homomorphisms that factors through a relatively H -projective kG -module. This generalizes the classical Auslander–Reiten duality for group algebras. As an application, we use the generalized Auslander–Reiten duality to give a new way for constructing almost split sequences.

Abstract:In this paper, the authors introduce a new definition of ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories with infinite projective dimensions (resp. injective dimensions) in an extriangulated category. They give a Bazzoni characterization of ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories. Also, they obtain a partial Auslander-Reiten correspondence between ∞-tilting (resp. cotilting) subcategories and coresolving (resp. resolving) subcategories with an -projective generator (resp. -injective cogenerator) in an extriangulated category.

Abstract:Peter Jorgensen introduced the Auslander-Reiten quiver of a simply connected Poincare duality space. He showed that its components are of the form ZA_infty and that the Auslander-Reiten quiver of a d-dimensional sphere consists of d-1 such components. In this thesis we show that this is the only case where finitely many components appear. More precisely, we construct families of modules, where for each family, each module lies in a different component. Depending on the cohomology dimensions of the differential graded algebras which appear, this is either a discrete family or an n-parameter family for all n.

Abstract:Let $\Lambda$ be a finite dimensional algebra. Let $\mathcal C$ be a functorially finite exact subcategory of $\Lambda$-mod with enough projective and injective objects and $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$ be its monomorphism category. It turns out that the category $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$ has almost split sequences. We show an explicit formula for the Auslander-Reiten translation in $\mathcal S (\mathcal C)$. Furthermore, if $\mathcal C$ is a stably $d$-Calabi-Yau Frobenius category, we calculate objects under powers of Auslander-Reiten translation in the triangulated category $\overline{\mathcal S(\mathcal C)}$.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{M}$ be a small $n$-abelian category. We show that the category of finitely presented functors $mod$-$\mathcal{M}$ modulo the subcategory of effaceable functors $mod_0$-$\mathcal{M}$ has an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory which is equivalent to $\mathcal{M}$. This gives a higher-dimensional version of Auslander's formula.

Abstract:We introduce the concept of an n -minimal Auslander–Gorenstein category and n -precluster tilting subcategory. With this, we create an analog of the higher Auslander–Solberg correspondence (Iyama–Solberg 2018) for exact categories. Our approach is based on the recent generalization of the (higher) Auslander correspondence to exact categories (Henrard–Kvamme–Roosmalen 2020, Ebrahimi–Nasr-Isfahani 2021).

Abstract:Let C be an (n+2)-angulated category with an n-suspension functor Σn and X be a cluster-tilting subcategory of C. Then we show that the quotient category C/X is an n-abelian category, and C/X is equivalent to an n-cluster tilting subcategory of an abelian category mod(Σ−nX). In addition, if C has a Serre functor, we also prove that mod(Σ−nX) is Gorenstein of Gorenstein dimension at most n. As an application, we generalize recent results of Jacobsen-Jørgensen and Koenig-Zhu.
