위화(余華)의 『허삼관매혈기(許三觀賣血記)』와 영화 『허삼관』 비교 연구

Abstract:This paper compares the full-length novel Xu sanguan maixueji, which was written by Yu Hua, with the Korean movie Chronicle of a Blood Merchant. The movie Chronicle of a Blood Merchant, which was directed by Korean director Ha Jungwoo, was released in Jan 2015, and the original work of this film is the Chinese novel Xu sanguan maixueji. In this paper, we examined the interrelationship between the novel and the movie, and analyzed similarities and dissimilarities in the aspect of narrative theme, narrative strategy and narrative technique. The narrative theme of the novel Xu sanguan maixueji is equality; it symbolizes the tragic life of Chinese people in 1950-60. The movie, however, expresses poverty, sorrow, happiness and family affection of Korean society appeared between Korean War and 1964. The novel and the movie share the same basic story of selling blood, but they are significantly different in the aspect of the narrative strategy. The novel mostly composed of humor and satire toward the power and the violence, but the movie is mainly about laugh and sadness around family love. For narrative technique, the main method used in the novel is black humor, satire and humor. However, the movie shows the irony of happiness and sadness with the story of marriage, the story of Il-rak, the story of parenting, and the story of the blood merchant. In conclusion, the comparative analyses of both works help us to understand the Avant-garde in Chinese contemporary novel and understand intertextuality of the film based on the original novel. Also, by comparing and analyzing the typical novel and the movie in two countries, we can understand cultural exchanges between China and Korea.
