Abstract:We present nonlocal integrable reductions of super AKNS coupled equations. By the use of nonlocal reductions of Ablowitz and Musslimani we find new super integrable equations. In particular we introduce nonlocal super NLS equations and the nonlocal super mKdV equations.

Abstract:The method of nonlinearization of the Lax pair is developed for the Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur (AKNS) equation in the presence of space-inverse reductions. As a result, we obtain a new type of finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems: they are nonlocal in the sense that the inverse of the space variable is involved. For such nonlocal Hamiltonian systems, we show that they preserve the Liouville integrability and they can be linearized on the Jacobi variety. We also show how to construct the algebro-geometric solutions to the AKNS equation with space-inverse reductions by virtue of our nonlocal finite-dimensional Hamiltonian systems. As an application, algebro-geometric solutions to the AKNS equation with the Dirichlet and with the Neumann boundary conditions, and algebro-geometric solutions to the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation are obtained.

Abstract:Abstract Recently, a number of nonlocal integrable equations, such as the ‐symmetric nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation and ‐symmetric Davey–Stewartson equations, were proposed and studied. Here, we show that many of such nonlocal integrable equations can be converted to local integrable equations through simple variable transformations. Examples include these nonlocal NLS and Davey–Stewartson equations, a nonlocal derivative NLS equation, the reverse space‐time complex‐modified Korteweg–de Vries (CMKdV) equation, and many others. These transformations not only establish immediately the integrability of these nonlocal equations, but also allow us to construct their Lax pairs and analytical solutions from those of the local equations. These transformations can also be used to derive new nonlocal integrable equations. As applications of these transformations, we use them to derive rogue wave solutions for the partially ‐symmetric Davey–Stewartson equations and the nonlocal derivative NLS equation. In addition, we use them to derive multisoliton and quasi‐periodic solutions in the reverse space‐time CMKdV equation. Furthermore, we use them to construct many new nonlocal integrable equations such as nonlocal short pulse equations, nonlocal nonlinear diffusion equations, and nonlocal Sasa–Satsuma equations.

Abstract:Integrable standard and nonlocal derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations are investigated. The direct and inverse scattering are constructed for these equations; included are both the Riemann–Hilbert and Gel’fand–Levitan–Marchenko approaches and soliton solutions. As a typical application, it is shown how these derivative NLS equations can be obtained as asymptotic limits from a nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation.

Abstract:We obtain novel periodic as well as hyperbolic solutions of an Ablowitz-Musslimani variant of the coupled nonlocal, nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLS) as well as a coupled nonlocal modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation which can be re-expressed as a linear superposition of the sum or the difference of two hyperbolic or two periodic kink or pulse solutions. Besides, we also discuss some of the other solutions admitted by these coupled equations. These results demonstrate that the notion of the superposed solutions extends to the coupled nonlocal nonlinear equations as well.

Abstract:To obtain new integrable nonlinear differential equations there are some well-known methods such as Lax equations with different Lax representations. There are also some other methods which are based on integrable scalar nonlinear partial differential equations. We show that some systems of integrable equations published recently are the -extension of integrable such scalar equations. For illustration we give Korteweg-de Vries, Kaup-Kupershmidt, and Sawada-Kotera equations as examples. By the use of such an extension of integrable scalar equations we obtain some new integrable systems with recursion operators. We give also the soliton solutions of the systems and integrable standard nonlocal and shifted nonlocal reductions of these systems.

Abstract:We provide several novel solutions of the coupled Ablowitz–Musslimani (AM) version of the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation and the coupled nonlocal modified Korteweg–de Vries (mKdV) equation. In each case we compare and contrast the corresponding solutions of the relevant coupled local equations. Further, we provide new solutions of the coupled local NLS and coupled local mKdV equations which are not the solutions of the corresponding nonlocal equations. We also show that the nonlocal coupled (as well as uncoupled) mKdV equations have hidden Galilean invariance and admit novel solutions.

Novel Superposed Kinklike and Pulselike Solutions for Several Nonlocal Nonlinear Equations

Abstract:We show that a number of nonlocal nonlinear equations including the Ablowitz-Musslimani and the Yang variant of the nonlocal nonlinear Schröd-inger (NLS) equation, nonlocal modified Korteweg de Vries (mKdV) equation as well as the nonlocal Hirota equation admit novel kinklike and pulselike superposed periodic solutions. Further, we show that the nonlocal mKdV equation, in addition also admits the superposed (hyperbolic) kink-antikink solution. Besides, we show that while the nonlocal Ablowitz-Musslimani variant of the NLS admits complex (parity-time reversal or) PT-invariant kink and pulse solutions, neither the local NLS nor the Yang variant of the nonlocal NLS admits such solutions. Finally, except for the Yang variant of the nonlocal NLS, we show that the other three nonlocal equations admit both the kink and pulse solutions in the same model.

Abstract:Writing the Hirota-Satsuma (HS) system of equations in a symmetrical form we find its local and new nonlocal reductions. It turns out that all reductions of the HS system are Korteweg-de Vries (KdV), complex KdV, and new nonlocal KdV equations. We obtain one-soliton solutions of these KdV equations by using the method of Hirota bilinearization.

Abstract:We propose a hierarchy of the nonlocal mKdV (NmKdV) equation. Based on a constraint, we obtain nonlocal finite-dimensional integrable systems in a Lie–Poisson structure. By a coordinate transformation, the nonlocal Lie–Poisson Hamiltonian systems are reduced to nonlocal canonical Hamiltonian systems in the standard symplectic structure. Moreover, using the nonlocal finite-dimensional integrable systems, we give parametric solutions of the NmKdV equation and the generalized nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NNLS) equation. According to the Hamilton–Jacobi theory, we obtain the action–angle-type coordinates and the inversion problems related to Lie–Poisson Hamiltonian systems.

Abstract:In this paper, we take advantage of the bilinearization reduction method to consider the local and nonlocal reduction of a discrete Ablowitz‐Kaup‐Newell‐Segur equation. Exact solutions in double Casoratian form to the reduced nonlocal discrete modified Korteweg‐de Vries equations are constructed. The dynamics of soliton solutions are analyzed and illustrated by asymptotic analysis. Moreover, both semi‐continuous limit and full continuous limit are applied to obtain the local and nonlocal semi‐discrete modified Korteweg‐de Vries equations, as well as the local and nonlocal continuous modified Korteweg‐de Vries equations.

Abstract:In the paper, we apply a new scheme to generate nonisospectral integrable hierarchies of evolution equations. First of all, we work out the positive-order and the negative-order nonisospectral AKNS hierarchies. Next we introduce a kind of loop algebra from which an expanding nonisospectral integrable model is derived. Specially, the expanding integrable model reduces to the well-known bond pricing equation and the interest rate modeling. By using the Lie group theory we investigate the Lie representations and characteristic solutions of a generalized bond pricing equation from the positive-order nonisospectral integrable equation, and with the help of the characteristic solutions and the Laplace transformation, we again obtain the fundamental solutions of the generalized bond pricing equation. Besides, we apply the Lie group analysis to deduce the invariant solutions and the nonlinear self-adjointness as well as conservation laws, non-invariant solutions of the generalized bond pricing equation. Some reductions of the negative-order nonisospectral integrable hierarchy are also produced. Two of them are the Sine-Gordan equation and the Sinh-Gordan equation. Finally, we investigate the coverings and the nonlocal symmetries of the generalized bond pricing equation and a generalized KdV equation, respectively, although the bond equation is linear which has many applications in the aspect of finance field, by applying the classical Frobenius theorem and the coordinates of a infinitely-dimensional manifold in the form of Cartesian product.

Abstract:A new integrable discrete system is constructed and studied, based on the algebraization of the difference operator. The model is named the discrete generalized nonlinear Schrodinger (GNLS) equation for which can be reduced to classical discrete nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation. To show the complete integrability of the discrete GNLS equation, the recursion operator, symmetries and conservation quantities are obtained. Furthermore, all of reductions for the discrete GNLS equation are given and the discrete NLS equation is obtained by one of the reductions. At the same time, the recursion operator and symmetries of continuous GNLS equation are successfully recovered by its corresponding discrete ones.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this paper, we propose the discrete and two semi-discrete versions of negative order AKNS equation through the discretization of associated Lax pair of continuous negative order AKNS equation. Discrete and semi-discrete multi-soliton solutions are computed by using Darboux transformation and are presented in the form of quasideterminants. The dynamics of one soliton and interaction of two soliton solutions for negative order AKNS equation are presented in the end.

Abstract:Through the modified deformation algorithm related to conservation laws, the (1+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) equations are extended to a (4+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) system. When one, two, or three of the independent variables are removed, the (4+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) system degenerates to some novel (3+1)-dimensional, (2+1)-dimensional, and (1+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) systems, respectively. Under a simple dependent transformation, the (1+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) equations turn into the classical sine-Gordon equation. Then using the same deformation procedure, the (1+1)-dimensional sine-Gordon equation is generalized to a (3+1)-dimensional version. By introducing the deformation operators to the Lax pairs of the original (1+1)-dimensional models, the Lax integrability of both the (4+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) system and the (3+1)-dimensional sine-Gordon equation is proven. Finally, the traveling wave solutions of the (4+1)-dimensional AKNS(-1) system and the (3+1)-dimensional sine-Gordon equation are implicitly given and expressed by tanh function and incomplete elliptic integral, respectively. These results may enhance our understanding of the complex physical phenomena described by the nonlinear system discussed in this paper.

Abstract:As local and nonlocal reductions of a discrete second-order Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equation, two discrete nonlinear Schrödinger type equations are considered. Through the bilinearization reduction method, we construct double Casoratian solutions of the reduced discrete nonlinear Schrödinger type equations, including soliton solutions and Jordan-block solutions.Dynamics of the obtained one-soliton and two-soliton solutions are analyzed and illustrated. Moreover,both semi-continuous limit and full continuous limit, are applied to obtain solutions of the local and nonlocal semi-discrete nonlinear Schrödinger type equations, as well as the local and nonlocal continuous nonlinear Schrödinger type equations.

Abstract:Cauchy matrix approach for the discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations is reconsidered, where two `proper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations and two `unproper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations are derived. The `proper' equations admit local reduction, while the `unproper' equations admit nonlocal reduction. By imposing the local and nonlocal complex reductions on the obtained discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations, two local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are constructed. For the obtained local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations, soliton solutions and Jordan-block solutions are presented by solving the determining equation set. The dynamical behaviors of 1-soliton solution are analyzed and illustrated. Continuum limits of the resulting local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, the nonlocal symmetry of dissipative (2+1)-dimensional AKNS equation is constructed by auxiliary equation method. In order to better study new group invariant solutions of AKNS equation with the help of nonlocal symmetry, we introduce an new auxiliary dependent variable, the (2+1) dimensional AKNS equation is extended to a new closed prolonged system. Therefore, the nonlocal symmetry of the original equation is the Lie point symmetry of the new prolonged system. Then, by solving the initial-value problems, the finite symmetry transformation for the prolonged system is derived. Furthermore, by using symmetry reduction method to the prolonged system, the interaction solution between cnoidal waves and solitary waves is given.
