Abstract:Integration at a point is a new kind of integration derived from integration over an interval in infinitesimal and infinity domains which are spaces larger than the reals. Consider a continuous monotonic divergent function that is continually increasing. Apply the fundamental theorem of calculus. The integral is a difference of the function integrated at the end points. If one of these point integrals is much-greater-than the other in magnitude delete it by non-reversible arithmetic. We call this type of integration "convergence sums" because our primary application is a theory for the determination of convergence and divergence of sums and integrals. The theory is far-reaching. It reforms known convergence tests and arrangement theorems, and it connects integration and series switching between the different forms. By separating the finite and infinite domains, the mathematics is more naturally considered, and is a problem reduction. In this endeavour we rediscover and reform the "boundary test" which we believe to be the boundary between convergence and divergence: the boundary is represented as an infinite class of generalized p-series functions. All this is derived from extending du Bois-Reymond's theory with gossamer numbers and function comparison algebra.

Uniform convergence for convexification of dominated pointwise convergent continuous functions

Abstract:The Lebesgue dominated convergence theorem of the measure theory implies that the Riemann integral of a bounded sequence of continuous functions over the interval [ 0,1] pointwise converging to zero, also converges to zero. The validity of this result is independent of measure theory, on the other hand, this result together with only elementary functional analysis, can generate measure theory itself. The mentioned result was also known before the appearance of measure theory, but the original proof was very complicated. For this reason this result, when presented in teaching, is generally obtained based on measure theory. Later, Eberlein gave an elementary, but still relatively complicated proof, and there were other simpler proofs but burdened with complicated concepts, like measure theory. In this paper we give a short and elementary proof even for the following strenghened form of the mentioned result: a bounded sequence of continuous functions defined on a compact topological space K pointwise converging to zero, has a suitable convexification converging also uniformly to zero on $K,$ thus, e.g., the original sequence converges weakly to zero in C(K). This fact can also be used in the proof of the Krein-Smulian theorem. The usual proof beyond the simple tools of the functional analysis, uses heavy embedding theorems and the Riesz' representation theorem with the whole apparatus of measure theory. Our main result, however, reduces the cited proof to a form in which we need abstract tools only, namely the Hahn-Banach separation theorem and Alaoglu's theorem, without Riesz' representation or any statement of measure theory.

Abstract:As shape analysis of the form presented in Srivastava and Klassen's textbook 'Functional and Shape Data Analysis' is intricately related to Lebesgue integration and absolute continuity, it is advantageous to have a good grasp of the latter two notions. Accordingly, in these notes we review basic concepts and results about Lebesgue integration and absolute continuity. In particular, we review fundamental results connecting them to each other and to the kind of shape analysis, or more generally, functional data analysis presented in the aforementioned textbook, in the process shedding light on important aspects of all three notions. Many well-known results, especially most results about Lebesgue integration and some results about absolute continuity, are presented without proofs. However, a good number of results about absolute continuity and most results about functional data and shape analysis are presented with proofs. Actually, most missing proofs can be found in Royden's 'Real Analysis' and Rudin's 'Principles of Mathematical Analysis' as it is on these classic textbooks and Srivastava and Klassen's textbook that a good portion of these notes are based. However, if the proof of a result does not appear in the aforementioned textbooks, nor in some other known publication, or if all by itself it could be of value to the reader, an effort has been made to present it accordingly.

Abstract:The convergence of the King-Werner method for finding zeros of nonlinear operators is analyzed. Under the hypothesis that the derivative of f satisfies the radius Lipschitz condition with L-average, the convergence criterion and the Convergence ball for the King-Werner method are given. Applying the results to some particular functions L(u), we get the convergence theorems in [7] and [1] as well as some new results.

Abstract:Consider the following variational inclusion problem: where f is differentiable in a neighbourhood of a solution and g is differentiable at , and F is a set-valued mapping, and the method introduced in Jean-Alexis and Pietrus [C. Jean-Alexis and A. Pietrus, On the convergence of some methods for variational inclusions, Rev. R. Acad. Cien. serie A. Mat. 102(2) (2008), pp. 355–361] for solving this problem: where ∇f(x) denotes the Fréchet derivative of f at x and [x, y; g] the first-order divided difference of g on the points x and y. Local converge analysis are provided for the method under the weaker conditions than Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008). Moreover, if ∇f and the first-order divided difference of g are p-Hölder continuous at a solution, then we show that this method converges superlinearly. In particular, our results extend the corresponding ones Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008), and fix a gap in the proof in (Jean-Alexis and Pietrus (2008), Theorem 1).

Abstract:In this study, we discuss the convergence and divergence of generalized integrals,\int_{0}^{+\infty}\frac{sin^{b}x}{x^{a}}dx(a\epsilon R^{+},b\epsilon N^{+}), and use the transformation method, the partial integration method, the mathematical induction method and the complex variable residual method to derive the calculation formulas of the two types of integrals. The calculation formulas of the two types of integrals are unified. Finally, the convergence criterion and the unified calculation formula of generalized integrals of\int_{0}^{+\infty}\frac{sin^{b}x}{x^{a}}dxare obtained.
On Convergence Lemma and Convergence Stability for Piecewise Analytic Functions

Abstract: In this work, a convergence lemma for function $f$ being finite compositions of analytic mappings and the maximum operator is proved. The lemma shows that the set of $\delta$-stationary points near an isolated local minimum point $x^*$ is shrinking to $x^*$ as $\delta\to 0$. It is a natural extension of the version for strongly convex $C^1$ functions. However, the correctness of the lemma is subtle. Analytic mappings are necessary for the lemma in the sense that replacing it with differentiable or $C^\infty$ mappings makes the lemma false. The proof is based on stratification theorems of semi-analytic sets by {\L}ojasiewicz. An extension of this proof presents a geometric characterization of the set of stationary points of $f$. Finally, a notion of stability on stationary points, called convergence stability, is proposed. It asks, under small numerical errors, whether a reasonable convergent optimization method started near a stationary point should eventually converge to the same stationary point. The concept of convergence stability becomes nontrivial qualitatively only when the objective function is both nonsmooth and nonconvex. Via the convergence lemma, an intuitive equivalent condition for convergence stability of $f$ is proved. These results together provide a new geometric perspective to study the problem of "where-to-converge" in nonsmooth nonconvex optimization.
Convergence analysis of equilibrium methods for inverse problems

Abstract:Recently, the use of deep equilibrium methods has emerged as a new approach for solving imaging and other ill-posed inverse problems. While learned components may be a key factor in the good performance of these methods in practice, a theoretical justification from a regularization point of view is still lacking. In this paper, we address this issue by providing stability and convergence results for the class of equilibrium methods. In addition, we derive convergence rates and stability estimates in the symmetric Bregman distance. We strengthen our results for regularization operators with contractive residuals. Furthermore, we use the presented analysis to gain insight into the practical behavior of these methods, including a lower bound on the performance of the regularized solutions. In addition, we show that the convergence analysis leads to the design of a new type of loss function which has several advantages over previous ones. Numerical simulations are used to support our findings.

A Comprehensive Overview of the Lebesgue Differentiation Theorem in Coq

Abstract:Formalization of real analysis offers a chance to rebuild traditional proofs of important theorems as unambiguous theories that can be interactively explored. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the Lebesgue Differentiation Theorem formalized in the Coq proof assistant, from which the first Fundamental Theorem of Calculus (FTC) for the Lebesgue integral is obtained as a corollary. Proving the first FTC in this way has the advantage of decomposing into loosely-coupled theories of moderate size and of independent interest that lend themselves well to incremental and collaborative development. We explain how we formalize all the topological constructs and all the standard lemmas needed to eventually relate the definitions of derivability and of Lebesgue integration of MathComp-Analysis, a formalization of analysis developed on top of the Mathematical Components library. In the course of this experiment, we substantially enrich MathComp-Analysis and even devise a new proof for Urysohn's lemma.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the investigation on convergence of solutions and asymptotic integration of some functional differential equations (FDEs). In the first part of the paper, some convergence criteria are obtained, and an invariance principle is established for the convergence of solutions of linear FDEs under perturbations and disturbances withL1-integrable coefficients. These theorems are applicable to some nonlinear or nonhomogeneous equations. In the second part, the convergence theorems are applied to investigate the asymptotic integration of some linear FDEs. This research is made mainly to discuss a situation that was avoided by some previous literature. Some examples are given to illustrate the theorems.

Abstract:Convex body domination is an important elaboration of the technique of sparse domination that has seen significant development and applications over the past ten years. In this paper, we present an abstract framework for convex body domination, which also applies to Banach space -valued functions, and yields matrix-weighted norm inequalities in this setting. We explore applications to "generalised commutators", obtaining new examples of bounded operators among linear combinations of compositions of pointwise multipliers and a singular integral operator.

Abstract:In this article, we aim to emphasize the critical role of extended convergence analysis in advancing research and understanding in the interdisciplinary fields of Applied and Computational Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, and Chemistry. By gaining a comprehensive understanding of the convergence behavior of numerical methods, one can make informed decisions regarding algorithm selection, optimization, and convergence domains, leading to more accurate and reliable scientific results in diverse applications. The conventional approach to assessing the convergence order of higher order methods for solving systems of non-linear equations relied on the Taylor series expansion, necessitating the computation of higher order derivatives that were typically absent in the method. This limitation not only constrained the method's applicability but also increased the computational cost of solving the problem. In contrast, our study introduces a unique and innovative approach, where we demonstrate the improvised convergence of the method using only first order derivatives. Our new method offers several advantages over the traditional approach, providing valuable information regarding the radii of the convergence region and precise estimates of error boundaries. Furthermore, we establish the notion of semi-local convergence, which proves to be particularly significant as it allows for the identification of the specific domain in which the iterates converge. We have validated the convergence requirements through carefully selected numerical examples.

On a version of a multivariate integration by parts formula for Lebesgue integrals

Abstract:Multidimensional integration by parts formulas apply under the standard assumption that one of the functions is continuous and the other has bounded Hardy-Krause variation. Motivated by recently developed results in the probabilistic context of price and risk bounds, this paper provides a version of an integration by parts formula for the Lebesgue integral of measure-inducing functions which may both be discontinuous and may have infinite Hardy-Krause variation. To this end, we give a general definition of measure-inducing functions and establish various of their properties, such as a characterization in terms of Delta-monotone functions. As a consequence of the integration by parts formula, several convergence results are provided, allowing an extension of the Lebesgue integral of a measure-inducing function to the case where one integrates with respect to a continuous semi-copula. The latter class of aggregation functions includes quasi-copulas which serve as bounds for the dependence structure in many applications.

These results are inspired by well-known works of Titchmarsh in classical Fourier harmonic analysis. Some results on the integrability of Mellin transforms of the Mellin convolutions are also given.

Abstract:In this paper we establish a new convex integration approach for the barotropic compressible Euler equations in two space dimensions. In contrast to existing literature, our new method generates not only the momentum for given density, but also the energy and the energy flux. This allows for a simple way to construct admissible solutions, i.e. solutions which satisfy the energy inequality. Moreover using the convex integration method developed in this paper, we show that the local maximal dissipation criterion fails in the following sense: There exist wild solutions which beat the self-similar solution of the one-dimensional Riemann problem extended to two dimensions. Hence the local maximal dissipation criterion rules out the self-similar solution. The convex integration machinery itself is carried out in a very general way. Hence this paper provides a universal framework for convex integration which not even specifies the form of the partial differential equations under consideration. Therefore this general framework is applicable in many different situations.
