Abstract:Recently an image encryption scheme based on a chaotic Tent map has been proposed by Li et al. This comment shows that this scheme is broken and no secure application can be found for it.

Abstract:Image encryption has been an attractive research field in recent years. The chaos-based cryptographic algorithms have suggested some new and efficient ways to develop secure image encryption techniques. This paper proposes a novel image encryption scheme, which is based on the chaotic tent map. Image encryption systems based on such map show some better performances. Firstly, the chaotic tent map is modified to generate chaotic key stream that is more suitable for image encryption. Secondly, the chaos-based key stream is generated by a 1-D chaotic tent map, which has a better performance in terms of randomness properties and security level. The performance and security analysis of the proposed image encryption scheme is performed using well-known ways. The results of the fail-safe analysis are inspiring, and it can be concluded that the proposed scheme is efficient and secure.

Abstract:In view of the shortcomings of traditional image encryption schemes, image encryption methods based on chaos theory has come into being. This paper presents a grayscale image encryption method using the combination of Tent and Lorenz chaotic maps. It leverages the Lorenz sequence to alter the Tent sequence in order to improve the randomness of secret keys. It also couples generated keys with plaintext and cipher-text during encryption to effectively defend against the plaintext attack. We have implemented the proposed method in Matlab, and evaluated it in several experiments. According to the NIST statistical tests, avalanche effect, and parameter analysis, secret keys produced by this method have good randomness and the key space is larger than 256 bits. Histograms and correlation tests of images encrypted by this method reveal the encryption achieves good confidentiality.

Abstract:In order to improve the security of image encryption,a new image encryption method combined with the chaotic map and the triangular chaotic map is proposed.Firstly,the triangular chaotic sequence generated by the triangular chaotic map is quantified into discrete binary sequence.Secondly,the random properties of binary sequence are analyzed.In the end,the triangular chaotic map is applied to the improved encryption algorithm based on quasi-feistel structure.The encrypted image is analyzed with gray level co-occurrence matrix(GLCM).The results show that the neighborhood pixels of encrypted image have good performance of space random uniform distribution.

Abstract:Tent chaotic mapping structure is simple,but has good chaotic sequence random performance,which can be de-tected by NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology). When chaos is applied to the digital image encryption,the ini-tial value and the control parameters of the chaotic systems are always given. The improved chaotic sequence is used in this pa-per to connect the generation of the initial value with the plaintext image. The random sequences generated by Tent mapping are employed in scrambling the image and changing the pixels of the image. The simulation results show that the algorithm is valid and has perfect safety performance for the encryption and decryption.

Abstract:In recent years, chaos-based image encryption algorithms have aroused extensive research interest. However, some image encryption algorithms still have several security defects, and the research on cryptanalysis is relatively inadequate. This paper performs the cryptanalysis of a newly proposed color image encryption scheme using RT-enhanced chaotic tent map. By using chosen-plaintext attacks, the equivalent keys of the cryptosystem are successfully broken, so that the target ciphertext image can be decoded. Based on the cryptanalysis, we then proposed an improved encryption algorithm. A new logistic-tent map is proposed and applied to the improved encryption algorithm, and a parameter related to the SHA-3 hash value of the plaintext image is introduced as a secret key parameter so that the improved algorithm can resist chosen-plaintext attacks. The security analysis and experimental tests for the improved algorithm are given in detail, which show that the improved algorithm can significantly increase the security of encryption images while still possessing all the merits of the original algorithm.
Image Encryption Algorithm Based On Tent Delay-Sine Cascade With Logistic Map

Abstract:We propose a new chaotic map combined with delay and cascade, called tent delay-sine cascade with logistic map (TDSCL). Compared with the original one-dimensional simple map, the proposed map has increased initial value sensitivity and internal randomness and a larger chaotic parameter interval. The chaotic sequence generated by TDSCL has pseudo-randomness and is suitable for image encryption. Based on this chaotic map, we propose an image encryption algorithm with a symmetric structure, which can achieve confusion and diffusion at the same time. Simulation results show that after encryption using the proposed algorithm, the entropy of the cipher is extremely close to the ideal value of eight, and the correlation coefficients between the pixels are lower than 0.01, thus the algorithm can resist statistical attacks. Moreover, the number of pixel change rate (NPCR) and the unified average changing intensity (UACI) of the proposed algorithm are very close to the ideal value, which indicates that it can efficiently resist chosen-plain text attack.

Abstract:This paper suggests a unique image encryption scheme based on key-based block ciphering followed by shuffling of ciphered bytes with variable-sized blocks, which makes this scheme substantially robust compared to other contemporary schemes available. Another distinguishing feature of this scheme is the usage of variable-sized key streams for consecutive blocks. Based on the elementary cellular automata with chaotic tent map, distinct key streams are used to cipher individual blocks. In the subsequent step, the bytes of the ciphered block so obtained are further shuffled to make the scheme more diffused. The block size varies with the varying key stream, which is again dependent on the preceding key stream as well as the plain image. It needs to be mentioned that the size of the first block and the key stream are generated from a 64-byte secret key and the plain image. Values of correlation and the number of pixel change rate between the original and the encrypted images are 0.000479 and 99.620901, respectively. Both of the above results along with other relevant experimental results strongly establish the robustness of the proposed scheme.

Abstract:In order to enhance the complexity and chaotic behaviors of chaotic map structure,and improve the security of image en-cryption algorithm,this paper proposes a Sine-Tent map-based hyper chaotic image encryption algorithm. First of all,we add nonlinear terms with Sine and Tent chaotic maps,and use one of the variables as a disturbance source to perturb the iterative process of the cha-otic map,then,built a two-dimension hyper chaotic compound map,and then we verify the hyper behavior with Lyapunov index and bifurcation diagram,etc. Furthermore,we provide a bit-level permutation combing with the and pixel-level diffusion strategy,in the or-der of rows and columns and scramble the plain image 2 times,the scrambled image is then diffused twice and get the ciphertext. Fi-nally,we evaluate the algorithm by various types of security analyses such as key space size,difference attack analysis,correlation a-nalysis,local information entropy analysis and algorithm robustness. Then we use Tent mapping to encrypt scrambled image. The result shows that the algorithm is easy to realize, providing high security.

Abstract:Recently, an image block encryption algorithm was proposed based on some well-known chaotic maps. The authors claim that the encryption algorithm achieves enough security level and high encryption speed at the same time. In this paper, we give a thorough security analysis on the algorithm from the perspective of modern cryptology and report some critical security defects on the algorithm. Given five chosen plain-images and the corresponding cipher-images, the attacker can obtain an equivalent secret key to successfully decrypt the other cipher-images encrypted with the same secret key. In addition, each security metric adopted in the security evaluation on the algorithm is questioned. The drawn lessons are generally applicable to many other image encryption algorithms.

Abstract:Chaotic behavior arises from very simple non-linear dynamical equation of logistic map which makes it was used often in designing chaotic image encryption schemes. However, some properties of chaotic maps can also facilitate cryptanalysis especially when they are implemented in digital domain. Utilizing stable distribution of the chaotic states generated by iterating the logistic map, this paper presents a typical example to show insecurity of an image encryption scheme using chaotic logistic map. This work will push encryption and chaos be combined in a more effective way.

Abstract:This paper proposes a chaos-based image encryption scheme where one 3D skew tent map with three control parameters is utilized to generate chaotic orbits applied to scramble the pixel positions while one coupled map lattice is employed to yield random gray value sequences to change the gray values so as to enhance the security. Experimental results have been carried out with detailed analysis to demonstrate that the proposed image encryption scheme possesses large key space to resist brute- force attack and possesses good statistical properties to frustrate statistical analysis attacks. Experiments are also performed to illustrate the robustness against malicious attacks like cropping, noising, JPEG compression. Abstract:This paper proposes an image encryption scheme based on a new 3D polynomial differential system which is derived from the Lorenz system. The binary sequences generated from the chaotic system are used to construct the desired cipher stream so as to encrypt the original image. The proposed scheme is described in detail, along with experimental example and security analyses including key space analysis, analysis of correlation of adjacent pixels, differential attack analysis and information entropy analysis. The results show that the suggested scheme has some excellent properties and can be used to construct cryptosystem with high practical security to meet the requirements of Internet on security.

Abstract:In recent years, many scholars have been committed to improving the security and practicability of chaotic image encryption. In addition, their proposed schemes mainly focus on two aspects, new or improved chaotic systems and new or improved encryption processes. However, according to cryptanalysis works of scholars, encryption processes of chaotic image encryption schemes deserve more attentions. In this paper, a recently reported chaotic image encryption scheme named the 2D logistic-adjusted-sine-map-based image encryption scheme is comprehensively investigated, and some security, practicability, and rationality problems are found. Therefore, we first point out these problems existing in the reported encryption scheme and make some improvements in practicability and rationality. Next, under the conditions of chosen plaintext attack, we cryptanalyze it and propose a corresponding attack algorithm. For our attack algorithm, simulation test results show that it can completely recover plain images without knowing any secret key related information. Finally, we also present some possible improvements for the security problems of chaotic image encryption scheme under study.

Abstract:This paper proposed a new image encryption scheme based on OCML and TD-ERCS map.In the proposed scheme,as a basic model of spatiotemporal chaotic system which exhibited chaotic properties both in time and in space,one-way coupled map lattice was adopted in permutation and the diffusion of gray value.The initial values and coupling coefficients were produced by a TD-ERCS map which had good random properties.The simple designed encryption scheme could work on digital image at any size,while its high security is proved by statistical experiments.

Abstract:Recently, an image encryption scheme based on a compound chaotic sequence was proposed. In this paper, the security of the scheme is studied and the following problems are found: (1) a differential chosen-plaintext attack can break the scheme with only three chosen plain-images; (2) there is a number of weak keys and some equivalent keys for encryption; (3) the scheme is not sensitive to the changes of plain-images; and (4) the compound chaotic sequence does not work as a good random number resource.

Abstract:Recently, a novel bit-level color image encryption scheme based on improved one-dimension (1D) chaotic map has been proposed. It was claimed that the proposed scheme is secure due to the improved 1D chaotic map with better chaotic performance. Some security analyses and simulation experiments were presented to show that it could resist various attacks. However, we found that there are some security loopholes in the original scheme, and then proposed an effective attack strategy utilizing chosen-plaintext attack (CPA) in this paper. The proposed strategy mainly includes two attacks. The first is to obtain the equivalent secret key of the diffusion right shift phase, and the second is to obtain the permutation right shift rule. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed method are verified by both theoretical analyses and experimental results. Some proposals are also given for improving the security of the original encryption scheme.

Abstract:With the development and application of network technology, digital images, as a form of information transmission, are at high risk of being stolen or decrypted. Our scheme utilizes the nature of low dimensional chaos to generate a high dimensional chaotic system with more variables and higher complexity by mixing two different low dimensional chaotic systems to protect digital images and confirms that it outperforms the original system through simulation experiments. In this paper, a new image scrambling encryption algorithm for multi chaotic system is designed by combining improved tent mapping and high-dimensional chaotic system, and compared with the existing encryption scheme in terms of simulation experiments and security performance parameters, which proves that the scheme has better comprehensive ability.

Abstract:A novel image encryption algorithm based on logistic map is proposed recently. In this paper, a chosen plaintext attack on this algorithm is presented and some other flaws of the algorithm are pointed out. Theoretical analysis and experimental simulation indicate that the plain image can be recovered exactly from the cipher image without secret key. Therefore, this algorithm is not secure enough for practical applications. An improvement is proposed to enhance the security of the original algorithm. Simulation results and theoretical analysis show that the improved scheme has expected cryptographic properties and is more secure than the original algorithm.
