Abstract:In the frame of a systematic study of the activation cross-sections of the deuteron induced nuclear reactions, excitation functions of the natYb(d,xn)177,173,172mg,171mg,170,169Lu, natYb(d,x)175,169Yb and natYb(d,x)173,172,168,167,165Tm reactions are studied up to 40 MeV, a few of them for the first time. Cross-sections were measured with the activation method using a stacked foil irradiation technique and high resolution gamma-ray spectrometry. The experimental data are analyzed and compared to the results of the theoretical model codes ALICE-IPPE, EMPIRE-II and TALYS. From the measured cross-section data integral production yields were calculated. Applications of the new cross-sections are discussed.

Abstract:Experimental cross-sections are presented for the first time for the 159Tb(d,xn)155,157,159Dy, 155,156,160Tb and 153Gd nuclear reactions up to 50 MeV. The experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions of the ALICE, EMPIRE and TALYS nuclear reaction codes. Integral thick-target yields are also derived for the reaction products that have practical applications.

Abstract:In the frame of a systematical study of light ion induced nuclear reactions on platinum, activation cross sections for deuteron induced reactions were investigated. Excitation functions were measured in the 20.8 - 49.2 MeV energy range for the natPt(d,xn)191,192,193,194,195,196m2,196g,198g,199Au, natPt(d,x)188,189,191,195m,197m,197gPt and natPt(d,x)189,190,192,194m2Ir reactions by using the stacked foil irradiation technique. The experimental results are compared with previous results from the literature and with the theoretical predictions in the TENDL-2014 and TENDL-2015 libraries. The applicability of the produced radio-tracers for wear measurements has been presented.

Abstract:Experimental cross sections are presented for the 159Tb(p,xn)153,155,157,159Dy, 152,153,155,156m2,m1,g,158Tb and 153,151Gd nuclear reactions up to 65 MeV. The experimental results are compared with the recently reported experimental data and with the results of the nuclear reaction codes ALICE-IPPE, EMPIRE and TALYS as reported in the TENDL-2015 on-line library. Abstract:Abstract In a systematic study of light charged particle induced nuclear reactions we investigated the excitation functions of deuteron induced nuclear reactions on natural lutetium targets. Experimental excitation functions up to 50 MeV on high purity nat Lu were determined using the standard stacked foil activation technique. High resolution off-line gamma-ray spectrometry was applied to assess the activity of each foil. From the measured activity direct and/or cumulative elemental cross-section data for production of 171,172,173,175 Hf, 171,172,173,174g,176m,177m,177g Lu and 169 Yb radioisotopes were determined. The experimental data were compared to results of the TALYS theoretical code taken from the TENDL databases and results of our calculations using the ALICE-IPPE-D and the EMPIRE-D codes. No earlier experimental data were found in the literature. Thick target yields for the investigated radionuclides were calculated from the measured excitation functions.

Excitation functions were measured in the 38–65 MeV energy range for the natHf(p,xn)180g,177,176,175,173Ta, natHf(p,x)180m,179m,175,173,172,171Hf, 177g,173,172,171,170,169Lu and natHf(p,x)169Yb reactions by using the activation method, combining stacked foil irradiation and off line gamma ray spectroscopy. The experimental results are compared with earlier results in the overlapping energy range, and with the theoretical predictions of the ALICE IPPE and EMPIRE theoretical codes and of the TALYS code reported in the TENDL-2015 and TENDL-2017 libraries. The production routes of 172Lu (and its parent 172Hf) and of 169Yb are reviewed.

Abstract:Excitation functions for the formation of the radionuclides 51 Cr, 52 Mn and 54 Mn via deuteron-induced activation of natural iron were measured up to deuteron energies of 35 MeV. The available experimental databases of the reaction products 51 Cr, 52 Mn and 54 Mn were extended and compared with the nuclear model calculations using the TALYS code. The model calculations reproduce our measured data after a careful choice of the input model parameters. Some information obtained on competition between the emission of multinucleons and a bound α-particle.

Abstract:Activation cross sections of the natLa(p,x)139,137m,137g,135,134,133mCe, natLa(p,x)135,134,133La and 133m,133g,131Ba nuclear reactions have been measured experimentally, for the first time (except 139Ce). Cross-sections in the 34-64 MeV energy range were obtained through an activation method combining the stacked foil irradiation technique and gamma-ray spectrometry. Abstract:A stack of thin Nb foils was irradiated with the 100 MeV proton beam at Los Alamos National Laboratory's Isotope Production Facility, to investigate the $^{93}$Nb(p,4n)$^{90}$Mo nuclear reaction as a monitor for intermediate energy proton experiments and to benchmark state-of-the-art reaction model codes. A set of 38 measured cross sections for $^{\text{nat}}$Nb(p,x) and $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x) reactions between 40-90 MeV, as well as 5 independent measurements of isomer branching ratios, are reported. These are useful in medical and basic science radionuclide productions at intermediate energies. The $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x)$^{56}$Co, $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x)$^{62}$Zn, and $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x)$^{65}$Zn reactions were used to determine proton fluence, and all activities were quantified using HPGe spectrometry. Variance minimization techniques were employed to reduce systematic uncertainties in proton energy and fluence, improving the reliability of these measurements. The measured cross sections are shown to be in excellent agreement with literature values, and have been measured with improved precision compared with previous measurements. This work also reports the first measurement of the $^{\text{nat}}$Nb(p,x)$^{82\text{m}}$Rb reaction, and of the independent cross sections for $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x)$^{52\text{g}}$Mn and $^{\text{nat}}$Nb(p,x)$^{85\text{g}}$Y in the 40-90 MeV region. The effects of $^{\text{nat}}$Si(p,x)$^{22,24}$Na contamination, arising from silicone adhesive in the Kapton tape used to encapsulate the aluminum monitor foils, is also discussed as a cautionary note to future stacked-target cross section measurements. \emph{A priori} predictions of the reaction modeling codes CoH, EMPIRE, and TALYS are compared with experimentally measured values and used to explore the differences between codes for the $^{\text{nat}}$Nb(p,x) and $^{\text{nat}}$Cu(p,x) reactions.

Abstract:In this work, the excitation functions of 10B(d,n)11C, 11B(d,n)12C, 11B(d,2n)11C, 11B(d,p)12B, 12C(d,n)13N, 12C(d,t)11C and 12C(d,α$$\mathrm{\alpha }$$)10B reactions were considered by theoretical models available in EMPIRE 3.2.3, TALYS 1.95 and ALICE/ASH codes from threshold up to 30 MeV energy. Nuclear model calculations were performed using different input parameters for the equilibrium and pre-equilibrium reaction processes. Various nuclear models were used to analyze the contribution of the PCROSS mean free path value, initial exciton number and level density models on excitation functions. The present data were compared with the available literature experimental data to examine the validity of the nuclear models.

Abstract:Activation cross sections of proton induced nuclear reactions on palladium were measured up to 80 MeV by using the stacked foil irradiation technique and gamma ray spectrometry. The beam intensity, the incident energy and the energy degradation were controlled by a method based on flux constancy via normalization to the excitation functions of monitor reactions measured in parallel. Excitation functions for direct and cumulative cross-sections were measured for the production of ${}^{104m,104g,105}$${}^{g,106m,110m}$Ag, ${}^{100,101}$Pd, ${}^{99m,99g,100,}$${}^{101m}$${}^{,101g,102m,102g,105}$Rh and ${}^{103,}$${}^{97}$Ru radioisotopes. The cross section data were compared with the theoretical predictions of TENDL-2014 and -2015 libraries. For practical applications thick target yields were derived from the measured excitation functions. Application in the field of medical radionuclide production is shortly discussed.

Abstract:Experimental excitation functions for long-lived products in proton induced reactions were measured with the activation method in the 37-65 MeV energy range on natural holmium. Stacked foil irradiation technique and high resolution gamma spectrometry were used in order to measure cross-section data for the production of $^{161}$Er, $^{160}$Er and $^{159,157}$Dy. For comparison of the production routes of medically related $^{161}$Er and $^{160}$Er radioisotopes new experimental cross section data were deduced for the $^{162}$Er(p,x)$^{161,160}$Er and $^{162}$Er(d,x)$^{161,160}$Er reactions by re-evaluating gamma-ray spectra from earlier measurements. No earlier data were found in the literature for these reactions. The experimental data are compared with results of TALYS theoretical code reported in TENDL-2015.

Abstract:Activation cross sections of alpha-particle-induced reactions on natural rhenium were measured. The stacked-foil activation technique and high-resolution gamma-ray spectrometry were used to derive the cross sections. The production cross sections of 190g, 189g, 188g, 187g, 186g, 185, 184Ir, 185Os, and 184g, 183gRe were determined up to 50 MeV. The cross sections of 185,184Ir were measured for the first time. The experimental results were compared with previous experimental data and theoretical calculations in the TENDL-2021 library.

Abstract:The effect of low-energy neutrons on activation cross-section measurements was analyzed carefully and proved by the measured neutron spectra of T(d, n)He-4 and D(d, n)He-3 reactions. The Ni-58(n, p)Co58m+g and Zn-64(n,p)Cu-64 reactions were used to confirm this analysis, and their cross sections were measured accurately. In addition, their evaluated excitation functions are given.

Abstract:Abstract New cross sections of the 183W(n,α)180mHf, 186W(n,d*)185Ta, 182W(n,p)182Ta, 184W(n,p)184Ta, 182W(n,2n)181W, 184W(n,α)181Hf and 186W(n,α)183Hf reactions were measured in the neutron energy range of 13.5-14.8 MeV via the activation technique with the aim to improve data base and resolve discrepancies. Monoenergetic neutrons in this energy range were produced via the T(d,n)4He reaction on a solid Ti-T target. The activities of the irradiated monitor foils and samples were measured by a well-calibrated high-resolution HPGe detector. Theoretical calculations of excitation functions of the seven nuclear reactions mentioned above in the neutron energies from the threshold to 20 MeV were performed using the nuclear theoretical model program system TALYS-1.9 with the aim to be expected to help with new evaluations of cross sections on tungsten isotopes. The experimental data obtained were analyzed and compared with previous experiments conducted by other researchers, the evaluated data available in the five major evaluated nuclear data libraries of IAEA (namely ENDF/B-VIII.0 or ENDF/B-VII.0, JEFF-3.3, JENDL-4.0u+, CENDL-3.2, BROND-3.1 or ROSFOND-2010), and the theoretical values acquired through TALYS-1.9 nuclear-reaction modeling tools. New cross section measurements agree with those of some recent experiments and theoretical excitation curves at the corresponding energies. The consistency of the theoretical excitation curves based on TALYS-1.9 with these experimental data is better than the evaluated curves available in the five major evaluated nuclear data libraries of IAEA.

Abstract:The continuum-discretized coupled-channels method (CDCC) for exclusive reactions and the eikonal reaction theory (ERT) as an extension of CDCC to inclusive reactions are applied to deuteron induced reactions. The CDCC result reproduces experimental data on the reaction cross section for $d+^{58}$Ni scattering at 200 MeV/nucleon and ERT does data on the neutron-stripping cross section for inclusive $^7$Li$(d,n)$ reaction at 40 MeV. For deuteron induced reactions at 200 MeV/nucleon, target-dependence of the reaction, elastic-breakup, nucleon-stripping, nucleon-removal, complete- and incomplete-fusion cross sections is clearly explained by simple formulae. Accuracy of the Glauber model is also investigated.

Abstract:The cross sections of the nuclear reactions induced by neutrons at $E_n$= 14.6 MeV on the isotopes of Dy, Er, Yb with emission of neutrons, proton and alpha-particle are studied by the use of new experimental data and different theoretical approaches. New and improved experimental data are measured by the neutron-activation technique. The experimental and evaluated data from EXFOR, TENDL, ENDF libraries are compared with different systematics and calculations by codes of EMPIRE~3.0 and TALYS~1.2. Contribution of pre-equilibrium decay is discussed. Different systematics for estimations of the cross-sections of considered nuclear reactions are tested.
