Abstract:It is well known that the symmetric group has an important role (via Young tableaux formalism) both in labelling of the representations of the unitary group and in construction of the corresponding basis vectors (in the tensor product of the defining representations). We show that orthogonal group has a very similar role in the context of positive energy representations of osp(1|2n,R). In the language of parabose algebra, we essentially solve the long standing problem of reducibility of Green's ansatz representations.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct finite dimensional irreducible representations for two different versions of \Z2 graded $osp(1|2)$ algebra based on eight- and ten-generators. We find that there are two different second-order Casimir operators for the ten generators version of the algebra one corresponding to the $(0,0)$ sector and another in the $(1,1)$ sector. Consequently, it is shown that the eight-generator version of the algebra has only one Casimir invariant in the $(0,0)$ sector. We present the differential operator realizations of these algebras. Starting with the highest weight, we construct the states of the irreducible finite-dimensional representations for both versions of the algebras. The matrix realizations of the generators on the representation space corresponding to these states are written down explicitly.

Abstract:The Hilbert space of an RSOS-model, introduced by Andrews, Baxter, and Forrester, can be viewed as a space of sequences (paths) {a_0,a_1,...,a_L}, with a_j-integers restricted by 1<=a_j<=\nu, |a_j-a_{j+1}|=1, a_0=s, a_L=r. In this paper we introduce different basis which, as shown here, has the same dimension as that of an RSOS-model. Following McCoy et al, we call this basis -- fermionic (FB). Our first theorem Dim(FB)=Dim(RSOS-basis) can be succinctly expressed in terms of some identities for binomial coefficients. Remarkably, these binomial identities can be q-deformed. Here, we give a simple proof of these q-binomial identities in the spirit of Schur's proof of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities. Notably, the proof involves only the elementary recurrences for the q-binomial coefficients and a few creative observations. Finally, taking the limit L --> \infty in these q-identities, we derive an expression for the character formulas of the unitary minimal series M(\nu,\nu+1) "Bosonic Sum = Fermionic Sum". Here, Bosonic Sum denotes Rocha-Caridi representation (\chi_{r,s=1}^{\nu,\nu+1}(q)) and Fermionic Sum stands for the companion representation recently conjectured by the Stony Brook group.
Unipotent representations of real classical groups

Abstract:Let $mathbf G$ be a complex orthogonal or complex symplectic group, and let $G$ be a real form of $mathbf G$, namely $G$ is a real orthogonal group, a real symplectic group, a quaternionic orthogonal group, or a quaternionic symplectic group. For a fixed parity $mathbb pin mathbb Z/2mathbb Z$, we define a set $mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$ of nilpotent $mathbf G$-orbits $mathfrak g$ (the Lie algebra of $mathbf G$). When $mathbb p$ is the parity of the dimension of the standard module of $mathbf G$, this is the set of the stably trivial special nilpotent orbits, which includes all rigid special nilpotent orbits. For each $mathcal O in mathrm{Nil}^{mathbb p}_{mathbf G}(mathfrak g)$, we construct all unipotent representations of $G$ (or its metaplectic cover when $G$ is a real symplectic group and $mathbb p$ is odd) attached to $mathcal O$ via the method of theta lifting and show particular that they are unitary.

Abstract: Let $G$ be a real reductive group in Harish-Chandra's class. We derive some consequences of theory of coherent continuation representations to the counting of irreducible representations of $G$ with a given infinitesimal character and a given bound of the complex associated variety. When $G$ is a real classical group (including the real metaplectic group), we investigate the set of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$, in the sense of Arthur and Barbasch-Vogan. Here $\check{\mathcal O}$ is a nilpotent adjoint orbit in the Langlands dual of $G$ (or the metaplectic dual of $G$ when $G$ is a real metaplectic group). We give a precise count for the number of special unipotent representations of $G$ attached to $\check{ \mathcal O}$. We also reduce the problem of constructing special unipotent representations attached to $\check{\mathcal O}$ to the case when $\check{\mathcal O}$ is analytically even (equivalently for a real classical group, has good parity in the sense of M{\oe}glin). The paper is the first in a series of two papers on the classification of special unipotent representations of real classical groups.

Abstract:The scalar normal modes of higher dimensional gravitating kink solutions are derived. By perturbing to second order the gravity and matter parts of the action in the background of a five-dimensional kink, the effective Lagrangian of the scalar fluctuations is derived and diagonalized in terms of a single degree of freedom which invariant under infinitesimal diffeomorphisms. The spectrum of the normal modes is discussed and applied to the analysis of short distance corrections to Newton law.

Abstract:In this paper we study unitary Ramond twisted representations of minimal $W$-algebras. We classify all such irreducible highest weight representations with a non-Ramond extremal highest weight (unitarity in the Ramond extremal case, as well as in the untwisted extremal case, remains open). We compute the characters of these representations and deduce from them the denominator identities for all superconformal algebras in the Neveu-Schwarz and Ramond sector. Some of the results rely on conjectures about the properties of the quantum Hamiltonian reduction functor in the Ramond sector.

Abstract:The minimal irreducible representations of $U_q[gl(m|n)]$, i.e. those irreducible representations that are also irreducible under $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ are investigated and shown to be affinizable to give irreducible representations of the twisted quantum affine superalgebra $U_q[gl(m|n)^{(2)}]$. The $U_q[osp(m|n)]$ invariant R-matrices corresponding to the tensor product of any two minimal representations are constructed, thus extending our twisted tensor product graph method to the supersymmetric case. These give new solutions to the spectral-dependent graded Yang-Baxter equation arising from $U_q[gl(m|n)^{(2)}]$, which exhibit novel features not previously seen in the untwisted or non-super cases.

Representation Theory of General Linear Supergroups in Characteristic 2

Abstract:We develop representation theory of general linear groups in the category $\text{Ver}_4^+$, the simplest tensor category which is not Frobenius exact. Since $\text{Ver}_4^+$ is a reduction of the category of supervector spaces to characteristic $2$ (by a result of Venkatesh, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1507.05142" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1507.05142">arXiv:1507.05142</a>), these groups may be viewed as general linear supergroups in characteristic $2$. More precisely, every object in $\text{Ver}_4^+$ has the form $m\mathbf{1}+nP$ where $P$ is the indecomposable projective, and $\text{GL}(m\mathbf{1}+nP)$ is the reduction to characteristic $2$ of $\text{GL}(m+n|n)$. We explicitly describe the irreducible representations of $\text{GL}(P)$ and then use this description to classify the irreducible representations of $\text{GL}(m\mathbf{1}+nP)$ for general $m,n$. We also define some subgroups of $\text{GL}(m\mathbf{1}+nP)$ and classify their irreducible representations. Finally, we conjecture a Steinberg tensor product theorem for $\text{Ver}_4^+$ involving the square of the Frobenius map.

Abstract:This paper obtains the matrix elements and characters of the discrete series unitary irreducible representations (UIRs) of the Sp$(4,\mathbb{R})$ group. With an isomorphic relationship to the two-fold covering of SO$_0(2,3)$ (Sp$(4,\mathbb{R}) \sim$ SO$_0(2,3)\times \mathbb{Z}_2$), this group holds particular importance as the kinematical/relativity group within the framework of ($1+3$-dimensional) anti-de Sitter spacetime.

Abstract:Let v be the right regular representation of a compact quantum group G. Then (<a class="link-external link-http" href="http://S.L.Woronowicz" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a>, "Compact quantum groups") v contains all irreducible representations of G and each irreducible representation enters v with the multiplicity equal to its dimension. The result is certainly known for classical compact groups. We give a short survey on the subject and provide a different proof of Woronowicz's result above. The proof is an adaptation of the corresponding result for classical compact groups and provides a concrete decomposition of the right regular representation in irreducible components.

Irreducibility of Virasoro representations in Liouville CFT

Abstract:In the context of Liouville conformal field theory, we construct the highest-weight representations of the Virasoro algebra at the degenerate values of the conformal weight (Kac table). We show that these modules are irreducible, giving a complete characterization of the algebraic structure of Liouville CFT. It also implies that all singular vectors vanish, which is one of the main assumptions usually made in theoretical physics. Our proof uses inputs from both probability theory and algebra, and gives new probabilistic content to the Kac table. Combining the information that singular vectors vanish with the main geometric properties of conformal blocks, we deduce that conformal blocks involving degenerate primary fields satisfy null-vector equations. These equations take the form of PDEs on the Teichmüller space of the underlying surface and generalize previous works in several directions.

Abstract:Orthosymplectic Lie superalgebras are fundamental symmetries in modern physics, such as massive supergravity. However, their representations are far from being thoroughly understood. In the present paper, we completely determine the structure of their various supersymmetric polynomial representations obtained by swapping bosonic multiplication operators and differential operators in the canonical supersymmetric polynomial representations. In particular, we obtain certain new infinite-dimensional irreducible representations and new composition series of indecomposable representations for these algebras.

Abstract:In our previous paper, we gave a complete classification of the unitary highest weight modules for the universal covers of the Lie groups $Sp(2n, \mathbb{R}), SO^{*}(2n)$ and $SU(p, q)$, using the Dirac inequality and the so called PRV product. In this paper, we complete the classification of the unitary highest weight modules for the remaining cases; i.e., universal covers of the Lie groups $SO_{e}(2, n)$, $E_{6(-14)}$ and $E_{7(-25)}$. We also describe unitary highest weight modules with given infinitesimal characters.

Unitary Representations of the Isometry Groups of Urysohn Spaces

Abstract:We obtain a complete classification of the continuous unitary representations of the isometry group of the rational Urysohn space $\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U}$. As a consequence, we show that Isom$(\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U})$ has property (T). We also derive several ergodic theoretic consequences from this classification: $(i)$ every probability measure-preserving action of Isom$(\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U})$ is either essentially free or essentially transitive, $(ii)$ every ergodic Isom$(\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U})$-invariant probability measure on $[0,1]^{\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U}}$ is a product measure. We obtain the same results for isometry groups of variations of $\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U}$, such as the rational Urysohn sphere $\mathbb{Q}\mathbb{U}_1$, the integral Urysohn space $\mathbb{Z}\mathbb{U}$, etc.
