Abstract:In this paper we consider Schröodinger operators with potentials of order zero on asymptotically conic manifolds. We prove the existence and the completeness of the wave operators with a naturally defined free Hamiltonian.

Abstract:Recent work by Hintz--Vasy provides a partial asymptotic analysis of the low-energy limit of scattering for Schrodinger operators with a short-range potential. Using a slight refinement of Hintz's algorithm, we complete the asymptotic analysis by providing full asymptotic expansions in every possible asymptotic regime. Moreover, the analysis is done in any dimension $d\geq 3$, for any asymptotically conic manifold, and we keep track of partial multipole expansions.

This paper addresses the meromorphic continuation of the outgoing resolvent associated with Schrödinger-type operators in three dimensions. The first part focuses on the classical Schrödinger-type operator involving unbounded potentials. The absence of nonzero real poles for the outgoing resolvent is investigated. The second part examines the fractional Schrödinger operator, including both bounded and unbounded potentials. The analysis relies on a resolvent identity that establishes a connection between the resolvents of the fractional Schrödinger operator and its classical counterpart.

Abstract:Consider a Schrödinger operator on an asymptotically Euclidean manifold $X$ of dimension at least two, and suppose that the potential is of attractive Coulomb-like type. Using Vasy's second 2nd-microlocal approach, "the Lagrangian approach," we analyze -- uniformly, all the way down to $E=0$ -- the output of the limiting resolvent $R(E\pm i 0) = \lim_{\epsilon \to 0^+} R(E\pm i \epsilon)$. The Coulomb potential causes the output of the low-energy resolvent to possess oscillatory asymptotics which differ substantially from the sorts of asymptotics observed in the short-range case by Guillarmou, Hassell, Sikora, and (more recently) Hintz and Vasy. Specifically, the compound asymptotics at low energy and large spatial scales are more delicate, and the resolvent output is smooth all the way down to $E=0$. In fact, we will construct a compactification of $(0,1]_E\times X$ on which the resolvent output is given by a specified (and relatively complicated) function that oscillates as $r\to\infty$ times something polyhomogeneous. As a corollary, we get complete and compatible asymptotic expansions for solutions to the scattering problem as functions of both position and energy, with a transitional regime.

Abstract:Using the recent analysis of the output of the low-energy resolvent of Schrödinger operators on asymptotically conic manifolds (including Euclidean space) when the potential is short-range, we produce detailed asymptotic expansions for the solutions of the initial-value problem for the Schrödinger equation (assuming Schwartz initial data). Asymptotics are calculated in all joint large-radii large-time regimes, these corresponding to the boundary hypersurfaces of a particular compactification of spacetime.

Abstract:We develop a complete stationary scattering theory for Schrödinger operators on $\mathbb R^d$, $d\ge 2$, with $C^2$ long-range potentials. This extends former results in the literature, in particular [Is1, Is2, II, GY], which all require a higher degree of smoothness. In this sense the spirit of our paper is similar to [Hö2, Chapter XXX], which also develops a scattering theory under the $C^2$ condition, however being very different from ours. While the Agmon-Hörmander theory is based on the Fourier transform, our theory is not and may be seen as more related to our previous approach to scattering theory on manifolds [IS1,IS2,IS3]. The $C^2$ regularity is natural in the Agmon-Hörmander theory as well as in our theory, in fact probably being `optimal' in the Euclidean setting. We prove equivalence of the stationary and time-dependent theories by giving stationary representations of associated time-dependent wave operators. Furthermore we develop a related stationary scattering theory at fixed energy in terms of asymptotics of generalized eigenfunctions of minimal growth. A basic ingredient of our approach is a solution to the eikonal equation constructed from the geometric variational scheme of [CS]. Another key ingredient is strong radiation condition bounds for the limiting resolvents originating in [HS]. They improve formerly known ones [Is1, Sa] and considerably simplify the stationary approach. We obtain the bounds by a new commutator scheme whose elementary form allows a small degree of smoothness.

Abstract:This article investigates the wave equation for the Schrödinger operator on $\mathbb{R}^{n}$, denoted as $\mathcal{H}_0:=-\Delta+V$, where $\Delta$ is the standard Laplacian and $V$ is a complex-valued multiplication operator. We prove that the operator $\mathcal{H}_0$, with $\operatorname{Re}(V)\geq 0$ and $\operatorname{Re}(V)(x)\to\infty$ as $|x|\to\infty$, has a purely discrete spectrum under certain conditions. In the spirit of Colombini, De Giorgi, and Spagnolo, we also prove that the Cauchy problem with regular coefficients is well-posed in the associated Sobolev spaces, and when the propagation speed is Hölder continuous (or more regular), it is well-posed in Gevrey spaces. Furthermore, we prove that it is very weakly well-posed when the coefficients possess a distributional singularity.

Abstract:In this article, we investigate the semiclassical version of the wave equation for the discrete Schrödinger operator, $\mathcal{H}_{\hbar,V}:=-\hbar^{-2}\mathcal{L}_{\hbar}+V$ on the lattice $\hbar\mathbb{Z}^{n},$ where $\mathcal{L}_{\hbar}$ is the discrete Laplacian, and $V$ is a non-negative multiplication operator. We prove that $\mathcal{H}_{\hbar,V}$ has a purely discrete spectrum when the potential $V$ satisfies the condition $|V(k)|\to \infty$ as $|k|\to\infty$. We also show that the Cauchy problem with regular coefficients is well-posed in the associated Sobolev type spaces and very weakly well-posed for distributional coefficients. Finally, we recover the classical solution as well as the very weak solution in certain Sobolev type spaces as the limit of the semiclassical parameter $\hbar\to 0$.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with nonlinear Schrödinger equations with a time-decaying harmonic potential. The nonlinearity is gauge-invariant of the long-range critical order. In [24] and [22], it is proved that the equation admits a nontrivial solution that behaves like a free solution with a logarithmic phase correction in the frameworks of both the final state problem and the initial value problem. Furthermore, a modified scattering operator has been established in the case without the potential in [15]. In this paper, we construct a modified scattering operator for our equation by utilizing a generator of the Galilean transformation. Moreover, we remove a restriction for the coefficient of the potential which is required in [22].

Abstract:We study the asymptotic distribution of resonances for scattering by compactly supported potentials in hyperbolic space. We first establish an upper bound for the resonance counting function that depends only on the dimension and the support of the potential. We then establish the sharpness of this estimate by proving the a Weyl law for the resonance counting function holds in the case of radial potentials vanishing to some finite order at the edge of the support. As an application of the existence of potentials that saturate the upper bound, we derive additional resonance asymptotics that hold in a suitable generic sense. These generic results include asymptotics for the resonance count in sectors.

Abstract:We consider the wave and Klein-Gordon equations on the real hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^{n}$ ($n \geq2$) in a framework based on weak-$L^{p}$ spaces. First, we establish dispersive estimates on Lorentz spaces in the context of $\mathbb{H}^{n}$. Then, employing those estimates, we prove global well-posedness of solutions and an exponential asymptotic stability property. Moreover, we develop a scattering theory and construct wave operators in such singular framework.

Abstract:The current paper is devoted to the scattering theory of a class of continuum Schrödinger operators with deterministic sparse potentials. We first establish the limiting absorption principle for both modified free resolvents and modified perturbed resolvents. This actually is a weak form of the classical limiting absorption principle. We then prove the existence and completeness of local wave operators, which, in particular, imply the existence of wave operators. Under additional assumptions on the sparse potential, we prove the completeness of wave operators. In the context of continuum Schrödinger operators with sparse potentials, this paper gives the first proof of the completeness of wave operators.

The new ingredients are the interaction Morawetz-type inequalities and Sobolev norm property associated with the Lapalacian with inverse square potential. We use such properties to obtain the scattering theory for the defocusing energy-subcritical nonlinear Schroedinger equation with inverse square potential in energy space.

Abstract:We study the following higher order Schrödinger equation on hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}^n$: $P_m u +a(x) u = |u|^{q - 2}u,$ where $P_m$ is the $2m$ order GJMS operator, $q=\frac{2n}{n-2m}$, $a(x) \in L^{\frac{n}{2m}}(\mathbb{H}^n)$ is a nonnegative potential function. We obtain a new concentration compactness principal for higher order problems on hyperbolic spaces. Under certain integrability assumptions on $a(x)$, we obtain the existence of solutions of the Schrödinger equations.

Asymptotics for the cubic 1D NLS with a slowly decaying potential

Abstract:We consider the asymptotics of the one-dimensional cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with an external potential $V$ that does not admit bound states. Assuming that $\jBra{x}^{2+}V(x) \in L^1$ and that $u$ is orthogonal to any zero-energy resonances, we show that solutions exhibit modified scattering behavior. Our decay assumptions are weaker than those appearing in previous work and are likely nearly optimal for exceptional potentials, since the Møller wave operators are not known to be bounded on $L^p$ spaces unless $\jBra{x}^2V \in L^1$. Our method combines two techniques: First, we prove a new class of linear estimates, which allow us to relate vector fields associated with the equation with potential to vector fields associated with the flat equation, up to localized error terms. By using the improved local decay coming from the zero-energy assumption, we can treat these errors perturbatively, allowing us to treat the weighted estimates using the same vector field arguments as in the flat case. Second, we derive the asymptotic profile using the wave packet testing method introduced by Ifrim and Tataru. Again, by taking advantage of improved local decay near the origin, we are able to treat the potential as a lower-order perturbation, allowing us to use tools developed to study the flat problem.

For the counting function we assume the potential is locally integrable and that the negative part of the potential minus a constant is one time differentiable and the derivative is Hölder continues with parameter $\mu\geq1/2$. Moreover we also consider sharp Riesz means of order $\gamma$ with $\gamma\in(0,1]$. Abstract:In this paper, we start from the periodic geodesic of generalized Hermite operators, and analyze their geometric characteristics and analytical properties. For the quantitative study of periodic solutions to the Schrödinger operators with non-polynomial potentials, we systematically discuss the corresponding Hamilton system, and use the harmonic balance method (HBM) and the modified harmonic balance method (mHBM) to approximate and estimate the periodic solution in high accuracy.

Abstract:We study the large-time behavior of global energy class solutions of the one dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a general localized potential term and a defocusing nonlinear term. By using a new type of interaction Morawetz estimate localized to an exterior region, we prove that these solutions decompose into a free wave and a weakly localized part which is asymptotically orthogonal to any fixed free wave. We further show that the $L^2$ norm of this weakly localized part is concentrated in the region $|x| \leq t^{1/2+}$, and that the energy ($\dot{H}^1$) norm is concentrated in $|x| \leq t^{1/3+}$.

Singularities and asymptotic distribution of resonances for Schrödinger operators in one dimension

Abstract:We obtain new results about the high-energy distribution of resonances for the one-dimensional Schrödinger operator. Our primary result is an upper bound on the density of resonances above any logarithmic curve in terms of the singular support of the potential. We also prove results about the distribution of resonances in sectors away from the real axis, and construct a class of potentials producing multiple sequences of resonances along distinct logarithmic curves, explicitly calculating the asymptotic location of these resonances. The results are unified by the use of an integral representation of the reflection coefficients.
