Abstract:Many authors discussed the interpolation mechanism of fuzzy logic system applied in control. The input and output of fuzzy control system are always restrained in (fuzzy) numbers-associated with fuzzification and defuzzification procedure. In artificial intelligence area we need use common fuzzy sets to represent vague and fuzzy concept. In this paper, we propose a "local relation mapping" theory, which is a corresponding result of interpolation mechanism of fuzzy logical system without fuzzification and defuzzification. This local relation mapping property holds in Mamdani algorithm (Max-Min fuzzy reasoning model). We find that each CRI fuzzy reasoning method based on the multi-valued logic implication operator has an approximate Mamdani algorithm. The fuzzy relation matrix of CRI fuzzy inference method based on the multivalued logic implication operator has an enveloping surface of Mamdani algorithm. So most CRI fuzzy reasoning methods have local relation mapping property approximately

Abstract:The fuzzy reasoning system contains more information than its form-generalized modus ponens (GMP), So it's hard to use GMP as a formal deduction rule directly. In this paper we represent these vague and fuzzy information as relations on concepts, we view rules of fuzzy reasoning system as a mapping from the set of antecedents to the set of consequents, and this mapping holds some relations on antecedents and consequents. Given a premise, we use a extension of the mapping as deduction rule, and this extension holds the relations on the set of antecedents and the set of consequents locally. This reasoning method can be employed to many case that fuzzy reasoning is applied. We propose a vague knowledge representation framework called pattern classes, and have discussed some useful concept about vague knowledge representation and reasoning. To some extent, representing fuzzy information as relations on concepts is an orthogonal representation method comparing with fuzzy sets. In many cases this reasoning method can deal with fuzziness without using fuzzy sets theory. It indicates a probability to employ GMP to a formal logic system.

The functioning-fuzzy- subset and homologous reasoning method have been put forward for the process of fuzzy control on-time, and the reasoning results and the simulating control effects of the various fuzzy logic reasoning methods have been compared and analyzed.

Abstract:This paper analyzes that the main difficulty in reasoning with general terminological axioms is that the membership degrees of fuzzy interpretations are not discrete, but continous in [0,1]. To remove this obstacle difficulty, this paper proposes a discretization method of fuzzy interpretation to translate membership degrees into discrete values in a finite set. Based on this discretization, it gives a discrete Tableau reasoning technique for FALCN reasoning problems with general terminological axioms, which consists of the definition of discrete Tableaus, a construction algorithm for discrete Tableaus and the proof of soundness, completeness and complexity of this algorithm.

Abstract:By the development of Semantic Web, increasing de- mands for vague information representation have triggered a mass of theoretical and applied researches of fuzzy ontologies, whose main logical infrastructures are fuzzy description logics. However, cur- rent tableau algorithms can not supply complete reasoning support within fuzzy ontology: reasoning with general TBox is still a dif- ficult problem in fuzzy description logics. The main trouble is that fuzzy description logics adopt fuzzy models with continuous but not discrete membership degrees. In this paper, we propose a novel se- mantical discretization to discretize membership degrees in fuzzy description logic FSHIN . Based on this discretization, we design discrete tableau algorithms to achieve reasoning with general TBox.

Abstract:Reasoning, the most important human brain operation, is charactrized by a degree fuzziness. In the present paper we construct a fuzzy model for the reasoning process giving through the calculation of the possibilities of all possible individuals' profiles a quantitative/qualitative view of their behaviour during the above process and we use the centroid defuzzification technique for measuring the reasoning skills. We also present a number of classroom experiments illustrating our results in practice.

Abstract:Using the theory of fuzzy sets, this paper develops a fuzzy logic reasoning system as an augmentation to a rule-based expert system to deal with fuzzy information. First, fuzzy set theorems and fuzzy logic principles are briefly reviewed and organized to form a basis for the proposed fuzzy logic system. These theorems and principles are then extended for reasoning based on knowledge base with fuzzy production rules. When an expert system is augmented with the fuzzy logic system, the inference capability of the expert system is greatly expanded; and the establishment of a rule-based knowledge base becomes much easier and more economical. Interpretations of the system’s power and possible future research directions conclude the paper.

Abstract:This paper presents the formal definition of fuzzy rule and fuzzy fact, introduces the process of uncertainty reasoning and passing based on the fuzzy rule. In the design of reasoning machine based on the fuzzy rule, an approach using object-oriented method is proposed. Fuzzy product rule and fact are regarded as objects in this paper. They are operated by methods defined in the reasoning machine. Fuzzy matrix is introduced to represent fuzzy product rule. An uncertainty reasoning algorithm based on the fuzzy rule is presented and implemented in the design of reasoning machine.

Abstract:This paper presents an original method of fuzzy approximate reasoning that can open a new direction of research in the uncertainty inference of Artificial Intelligence(AI) and Computational Intelligence(CI). Fuzzy modus ponens (FMP) and fuzzy modus tollens(FMT) are two fundamental and basic models of general fuzzy approximate reasoning in various fuzzy systems. And the reductive property is one of the essential and important properties in the approximate reasoning theory and it is a lot of applications. This paper suggests a kind of extended distance measure (EDM) based approximate reasoning method in the single input single output(SISO) fuzzy system with discrete fuzzy set vectors of different dimensions. The EDM based fuzzy approximate reasoning method is consists of two part, i.e., FMP-EDM and FMT-EDM. The distance measure based fuzzy reasoning method that the dimension of the antecedent discrete fuzzy set is equal to one of the consequent discrete fuzzy set has already solved in other paper. In this paper discrete fuzzy set vectors of different dimensions mean that the dimension of the antecedent discrete fuzzy set differs from one of the consequent discrete fuzzy set in the SISO fuzzy system. That is, this paper is based on EDM. The experimental results highlight that the proposed approximate reasoning method is comparatively clear and effective with respect to the reductive property, and in accordance with human thinking than existing fuzzy reasoning methods.

Abstract:This article introduces fuzzy analogical reasoning by presenting it as an essential component of a global fuzzy reasoning process to be developed. The conceptual framework for urban dialogue systems enables such systems to emulate human analogical reasoning by using cognitive computing, particularly soft computing. This framework is already in the second iteration of its development. Two experiments were conducted to confirm the stability of the theoretical foundation of the framework, and eight experts evaluated it. Based on the experimental findings, the authors have extended the framework with a complementary component focused on knowledge management. Therefore, this article also introduces network-like memory that can be used to retrieve the information needed for the fuzzy analogical reasoning process. The proposed approach for knowledge management is based on the use of fuzzy cognitive maps that can be stored in graph databases.

Abstract:Fuzzy logic, according to Lotfi Zadeh, can be broadly considered as the union of fuzzified crisp logics. Its primary aim is to provide a formal, computationally oriented system of concepts and techniques for dealing with modes of reasoning that are approximate rather than exact. Charles Elkan’s claims are derived mainly from entangled interpretations of fuzzy logic stemming from his mathematical approach to the formal system and intuitionistic approach to the practical system. Here we examine the mathematical structures of classical and fuzzy logic, and then point out that Elkan’s view of the standard version of fuzzy logic is not valid. We then attempt to envisage fuzzy logic, in its practical aspect, as a dynamic system that will enhance control and expert systems.

Abstract:Classical description logics are limited to dealing with crisp concepts and crisp roles. However, Web applications based on description logics should allow the treatment of the inherent imprecision. Therefore, it is necessary to add fuzzy features to description logics. A family of extended fuzzy description logics, which is a fuzzy extension of description logics by introducing cut set to describe fuzzy feature, is proposed to enable representation and reasoning for complex fuzzy information. This paper discusses the reasoning technique for reasoning tasks of a given extended fuzzy description logic extended fuzzy $\cal {ALCQ}$ by adopting classical description logic $\cal{ALCQ}$ to discretely simulate extended fuzzy $\cal{ALCQ}$ in polynomial time and reusing the existing result to prove the complexity of extended fuzzy $\cal{ALCQ}$ reasoning tasks.

Abstract:In this paper, we apply a class of fuzzy modifiers based on fuzzy relations in description logics (DLs) to represent complex imprecise and incomplete knowledge. We investigate how to introduce the fuzzy modifiers into a fuzzy description logic ALC. The fuzzy description logic ALC with the fuzzy modifiers, called FALCM in the paper, has a more expressive capacity to represent imprecise and incomplete knowledge. At last, we give the reasoning algorithms for the satisfiability of FALCM concepts.

Abstract:It is widely recognized that management of data types is an indispensable component in intelligent knowledge-based applications. Recent research has shown that OWL (Web Ontology Language) has a serious limitation on data types and does not support customized data types and predicates. Some work has been carried out to address this issue in crisp situations. In order to deal with fuzzy information in the Semantic Web, this paper proposes a new kind of fuzzy description logic F-SHIQ(G), which can support not only the representation and reasoning of fuzzy concept knowledge, but also fuzzy data information with customized fuzzy data types and customized fuzzy data type predicates. The syntax, semantics and reasoning algorithm of the F-SHIQ(G) are investigated in the paper, and its decidability, soundness, completeness and complexity of the reasoning algorithm are discussed in the paper also. For the reasoning for F-SHIQ(G), the paper adopts a traditional reasoning architecture for fuzzy data type reasoning and as a result, new fuzzy data type reasoners can be added without changing the fuzzy concept reasoner.

Abstract:It is widely recognized today that the management of imprecision and vagueness will yield more intelligent and realistic knowledge-based applications. Description Logics (DLs) are a family of knowledge representation languages that have gained considerable attention the last decade, mainly due to their decidability and the existence of empirically high performance of reasoning algorithms. In this paper, we extend the well known fuzzy ALC DL to the fuzzy SHIN DL, which extends the fuzzy ALC DL with transitive role axioms (S), inverse roles (I), role hierarchies (H) and number restrictions (N). We illustrate why transitive role axioms are difficult to handle in the presence of fuzzy interpretations and how to handle them properly. Then we extend these results by adding role hierarchies and finally number restrictions. The main contributions of the paper are the decidability proof of the fuzzy DL languages fuzzy-SI and fuzzy-SHIN, as well as decision procedures for the knowledge base satisfiability problem of the fuzzy-SI and fuzzy-SHIN.

Abstract:Based on Galois connection,four kinds of fuzzy concept lattices have been introduced.(Studied) is the cases where the truth values come from a complete lattice with a commutative residuated pair and from a complete involutive residuated lattice.The four kinds of fuzzy concept lattices have the same properties as their crisp counterparts,and a perfect duality could be achieved to the case where the structure is a complete involutive residuated lattice.Finally,based on the fuzzy concept lattice,a completely reductive fuzzy inference method has been proposed.

Abstract:The treatment of complex systems often requires the manipulation of vague, imprecise and uncertain information. Indeed, the human being is competent in handling of such systems in a natural way. Instead of thinking in mathematical terms, humans describes the behavior of the system by language proposals. In order to represent this type of information, Zadeh proposed to model the mechanism of human thought by approximate reasoning based on linguistic variables. He introduced the theory of fuzzy sets in 1965, which provides an interface between language and digital worlds. In this paper, we propose a Boolean modeling of the fuzzy reasoning that we baptized Fuzzy-BML and uses the characteristics of induction graph classification. Fuzzy-BML is the process by which the retrieval phase of a CBR is modelled not in the conventional form of mathematical equations, but in the form of a database with membership functions of fuzzy rules.

Abstract:Fuzzy logic, especially fuzzy reasoning, has been widely used in many real-world applications for its tremendous practical value. This paper mainly focuses on a new theoretical principle of fuzzy logic, fuzzy reasoning, and its applications. It starts with enunciating a novel foundation: the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning. We then propose a practical framework, which enables the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning to be applied to various applications. This framework is divided into discrete case and continuous case. In the discrete case, we first solve the sorites paradox. We then proceed to a pattern recognition problem. So far, these are all passive approach in that the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning is used as is to measure if the reasoning is valid. In the continuous case, we proceed to actively designing the reasoning so that the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning is always guaranteed through Lyapunov stability approaches. This is formulated as a control-theoretic task. The problem of reasoning is converted to a control design one. This is then applied to a vehicle following problem. Through theoretical analysis and practical demonstrations, we show how the Fundamental Axiom of Reasoning can be conceptualized, articulated, and formalized in fuzzy reasoning.

Abstract:The paper describes the research the application of artificial intelligence technology in analyzing engineering quality and proposed a method which bases on the faulty tree analysis of the fuzzy logical system. In practice, the indeterminacy exists in the occurrence probability of basic event. Based on the previous research, this paper adopts the way of expressing the occurrence probability of basic event as fuzzy numeral. Meanwhile, focused on the uncertainty which exists in the causality between reason-event and result-event in faulty tree analysis, the author applies the fuzzy reasoning system in faulty tree analysis. Depends on the different reasoning relations between reason-event and result-event, author issues the different calculation and ensures the regularity of the reasoning calculation. The case study illustrates the feasibility of the analysis way issued in the paper which explores a new idea to risk analysis in engineering quality and in promote the reliability of the production.
