Abstract:In this note, we use some combinatorial modulus on the boundary of a right-angled hyperbolic building to control its conformal dimension. The lower bound obtained is optimal in the case of Fuchsian buildings.

Abstract:In this paper, we solve a class of Neumann problems on a manifold with totally geodesic smooth boundary. As a consequence, we also solve the prescribing k-curvature problem of the modified Schouten tensor on such manifolds; that is, if the initial k-curvature of the modified Schouten tensor is positive for tau > n - 1 or negative for tau < 1, then there exists a conformal metric such that its k-curvature defined by the modified Schouten tensor equals some prescribed function and the boundary remains totally geodesic.

Abstract:For a non-compact finite thickness building whose Davis apartment is an orientable pseudomanifold, we compute the supremum of the set of such that its top dimensional reduced -cohomology is nonzero. We adapt the non-vanishing assertion of this result to any finite thickness building using the Bestvina realization. Using similar techniques, we generalize bounds obtained by Clais on the conformal dimension of some Gromov-hyperbolic buildings to any such building.

Conformal measures of (anti)holomorphic correspondences

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence and properties of conformal measures on limit sets of (anti)holomorphic correspondences. We show that if the critical exponent satisfies $1\leq \delta_{\operatorname{crit}}(x) <+\infty,$ the correspondence $F$ is (relatively) hyperbolic on the limit set $\Lambda_+(x)$, and $\Lambda_+(x)$ is minimal, then $\Lambda_+(x)$ admits a non-atomic conformal measure for $F$ and the Hausdorff dimension of $\Lambda_+(x)$ is strictly less than 2. As a special case, this shows that for a parameter $a$ in the interior of a hyperbolic component of the modular Mandelbrot set, the limit set of the Bullett--Penrose correspondence $F_a$ has a non-atomic conformal measure and its Hausdorff dimension is strictly less than 2. The same results hold for the LLMM correspondences, under some extra assumptions on its defining function $f$.

Conformal Assouad dimension as the critical exponent for combinatorial modulus

Abstract:The conformal Assouad dimension is the infimum of all possible values of Assouad dimension after a quasisymmetric change of metric. We show that the conformal Assouad dimension equals a critical exponent associated to the combinatorial modulus for any compact doubling metric space. This generalizes a similar result obtained by Carrasco Piaggio for the Ahlfors regular conformal dimension to a larger family of spaces. We also show that the value of conformal Assouad dimension is unaffected if we replace quasisymmetry with power quasisymmetry in its definition.

Surface Quotients of Right-Angled Hyperbolic Buildings

Abstract:Hyperbolic buildings are central objects in both hyperbolic geometry and geometric group theory, exhibiting a wide range of intriguing characteristics, especially with respect to group actions. In this paper, we develop the theory of surface quotients of Fuchsian buildings. For a large family of Fuchsian buildings, we prove the existence of a discrete subgroup $\Gamma$ of the automorphism group of the Fuchsian building whose quotient is a compact surface without boundary. We also provide some necessary conditions for the existence of such lattices, in terms of the symmetries of the building. The proof is based on another result of ours that generators of the fundamental group of a tessellated surface can be chose by closed geodesics in the 1-skeleton of the tessellation, which is of independent interest.

Abstract:For a conformal theory it is natural to seek the conformal moduli space, M_c to which it belongs, generated by the exactly marginal deformations. By now we should have the tools to determine M_c in the presence of enough supersymmetry. Here it is shown that its dimension is determined in terms of a certain index. Moreover, the D-term of the global group is an obstruction for deformation, in presence of a certain amount of preserved supersymmetry. As an example we find that the deformations of the membrane (3d) field theory, under certain conditions, are in 35/SL(4,C). Other properties including the local geometry of M_c are discussed.

Abstract:Conformal dimension of a metric space $X$, denoted by $\dim_C X$, is the infimum of the Hausdorff dimension among all its quasisymmetric images. If conformal dimension of $X$ is equal to its Hausdorff dimension, $X$ is said to be minimal for conformal dimension. In this paper we show that the graph of the one dimensional Brownian motion is almost surely minimal for conformal dimension. We also give many other examples of minimal sets for conformal dimension, which we call Bedford-McMullen type sets. In particular we show that Bedford-McMullen self-affine sets with uniform fibers are minimal for conformal dimension. The main technique in the proofs is the construction of ``rich families of minimal sets of conformal dimension one''. The latter concept is quantified using Fuglede's modulus of measures.

Abstract:We interpret the Hilbert entropy of a convex projective structure on a closed higher-genus surface as the Hausdorff dimension of the non-differentiability points of the limit set in the full flag space $\mathcal F(\mathbb R^3)$. Generalizations for regularity properties of boundary maps between locally conformal representations are also discussed. An ingredient for the proofs is the concept of hyperplane conicality that we introduce for a $\theta$-Anosov representation into a reductive real-algebraic Lie group $G$. In contrast with directional conicality, hyperplane-conical points always have full mass for the corresponding Patterson-Sullivan measure.

Abstract:The Hausdorff dimension of a conformal repeller or conformal hyperbolic set is well understood. For non-conformal maps, the Hausdorff dimension is only known in some special cases. Ban, Cao and Hu defined the concept of an average conformal repeller which generalises conformal, quasi-conformal and weakly conformal repellers, and they found an equation for the Hausdorff dimension for an average conformal repeller. In this paper we generalise this concept to average conformal hyperbolic sets, and obtain a similar equation for the Hausdorff dimension.
A flat perspective on moduli spaces of hyperbolic surfaces

Abstract:Volumes of moduli spaces of hyperbolic cone surfaces were previously defined and computed when the angles of the cone singularities are at most 2pi. We propose a general definition of these volumes without restriction on the angles. This construction is based on flat geometry as our proposed volume is a limit of Masur-Veech volumes of moduli spaces of multi-differentials. This idea generalizes the observation in quantum gravity that the Jackiw-Teitelboim partition function is a limit of minimal string partition functions from Liouville gravity. Finally, we use the properties of these volumes to recover Mirzakhani's recursion formula for Weil-Petersson polynomials. This provides a new proof of Witten-Kontsevich's theorem.

Abstract:On a compact three-dimensional Riemannian manifold with boundary, we prove the compactness of the full set of conformal metrics with positive constant scalar curvature and constant mean curvature on the boundary. This involves a blow-up analysis of a Yamabe equation with critical Sobolev exponents both in the interior and on the boundary.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the capacity dimension of the boundary of $CAT(0)$ spaces. We first compare the two metrics on the boundary of a hyperbolic $CAT(0)$ space, i.e., the visual metric and the conical metric, and prove that they give the same capacity dimension of the boundary. Then we study the capacity dimension of the boundary of buildings, which is an important class of $CAT(0)$ spaces. Finally, we give a possible method to prove the finiteness of the asymptotic dimension of $CAT(0)$ spaces.

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2207.08617" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2207.08617">arXiv:2207.08617</a> [math.DG] Brendle-Hirsch-Johne proved that $T^m\times S^{n-m}$ does not admit metrics with positive $m$-intermediate curvature when $n\leq 7$. Chu-Kwong-Lee showed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2208.12240" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2208.12240">arXiv:2208.12240</a> [math.DG] a corresponding rigidity statement when $n\leq 5$. In this paper, we show the sharpness of the dimension constraints by giving concrete counterexamples in $n\geq 7$ and extending the rigidity result to $n=6$. Concerning uniformly positive intermediate curvature, we show that simply-connected manifolds with dimension $\leq 5$ and bi-Ricci curvature $\geq 1$ have finite Urysohn 1-width. Counterexamples are constructed in dimension $\geq 6$.

Abstract:We develop a versatile framework which allows us to rigorously estimate the Hausdorff dimension of maximal conformal graph directed Markov systems in $\mathbb{R}^n$ for $n \geq 2$. Our method is based on piecewise linear approximations of the eigenfunctions of the Perron-Frobenius operator via a finite element framework for discretization and iterative mesh schemes. One key element in our approach is obtaining bounds for the derivatives of these eigenfunctions, which, besides being essential for the implementation of our method, are of independent interest.

Conformal dynamics at infinity for groups with contracting elements

Abstract:This paper develops a theory of conformal density at infinity for groups with contracting elements. We start by introducing a class of convergence boundary encompassing many known hyperbolic-like boundaries, on which a detailed study of conical points and Myrberg points is carried out. The basic theory of conformal density is then established, including the Sullivan shadow lemma and Hopf-Tsuji-Sullivan theorem. This gives a unification of the theory of conformal density on the Gromov and Floyd boundary for (relatively) hyperbolic groups, the visual boundary for rank-1 CAT(0) groups, and Thurston boundary for mapping class groups. Besides that, the conformal density on the horofunction boundary provides a new important example of our general theory. At last, we present applications towards the co-growth problem of divergent groups, measure theoretical results for CAT(0) groups and mapping class groups.

Abstract:The conformal nature of smooth curves in $\mathbb{R}^3$ is characterised by conformal length, curvature and torsion. We present a derivation of these conformal parameters via a limiting process using inscribed polygons with circular edges . The procedure is based on elementary geometry in $\mathbb{R}^3$ only and similar to the rectification of curves in the metrical case. It seems to be not available in the literature so far.

Abstract:In this paper we study the dimension of planar elliptic measures via the application of quasiconformal mappings. In fact, in our case studies, we find a quasiconformal mapping that relates the elliptic measure in a domain to the harmonic measure in its image domain, and we deduce bounds for the Hausdorff dimension of the elliptic measure by the known results on the harmonic side.

Abstract:In this paper, we describe the intersection between geodesic and conformal currents on closed hyperbolic three-manifolds. We use this to prove some sharp bounds which involve the Liouville entropy of a negatively curved metric, the minimal surface entropy, and the area ratio. Using these ideas we also give a new proof of the Mostow Rigidity Theorem in the three-dimensional case.

Abstract:Every finite collection of oriented closed geodesics in the modular surface has a canonically associated link in its unit tangent bundle coming from the periodic orbits of the geodesic flow. We study the volume of the associated link complement with respect to its unique complete hyperbolic metric. We provide the first lower volume bound that is linear in terms of the number of distinct exponents in the code words corresponding to the collection of closed geodesics.
