Abstract:We define the polar curves and the polar family associated to a projective web and obtain some results about the geometry of the generic element of this family. We also deal with the particular case of foliations and prove the constancy of the topological embedded type of the generic polar.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of Galois holomorphic foliation on the complex projective space as that of foliations whose Gauss map is a Galois covering when restricted to an appropriate Zariski open subset. First, we establish general criteria assuring that a rational map between projective manifolds of the same dimension defines a Galois covering. Then, these criteria are used to give a geometric characterization of Galois foliations in terms of their inflection divisor and their singularities. We also characterize Galois foliations on $\mathbb P^2$ admitting continuous symmetries, obtaining a complete classification of Galois homogeneous foliations.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we study polar foliations on simply connected symmetric spaces with non-negative curvature. We will prove that all such foliations are isoparametric as defined in [E. Heintze, X. Liu and C. Olmos, Isoparametric submanifolds and a Chevalley-type restriction theorem, Integrable systems, geometry, and topology, American Mathematical Society, Providence 2006, 151–190]. We will also prove a splitting theorem which, when leaves are compact, reduces the study of such foliations to polar foliations in compact simply connected symmetric spaces. Moreover, we will show that solutions to mean curvature flow of regular leaves in such foliations are always ancient solutions. This generalizes part of the results in [X. Liu and C.-L. Terng, Ancient solutions to mean curvature flow for isoparametric submanifolds, Math. Ann. 378 2020, 1–2, 289–315] for mean curvature flows of isoparametric submanifolds in spheres.

Abstract:In this survey paper, we take the viewpoint of polar invariants to the local and global study of non-dicritical holomorphic foliations in dimension two and their invariant curves. It appears a characterization of second type foliations and generalized curve foliations as well as a description of the GSV-index in terms of polar curves. We also interpret the proofs concerning the Poincaré problem with polar invariants.

Abstract:This paper investigates flat webs on the projective plane. We present two methods for constructing such webs: the first involves taking the product of two convex reduced foliations and invariant lines, while the second consists of taking the product of finitely many convex homogeneous foliations and invariant lines. In both cases, we demonstrate that the dual web is flat.

Abstract:We show that the isolated invariant branches globalize to algebraic curves, when we consider weak toric type complex hyperbolic foliations on projective toric ambient surfaces. To do it, we pass through a characterization of weak toric type foliations in terms of "non-degeneracy" conditions, associated to Newton polygons. We also give a description of the relationship between invariant algebraic curves and isolated invariant branches, valid for the case of toric type, by means of the following dichotomy. Either there is a rational first integral and there are no isolated invariant branches or we have only finitely many global invariant curves, all of them extending isolated invariant branches.

Abstract:We classify homogeneous polar foliations of codimension two on irreducible symmetric spaces of noncompact type up to orbit equivalence. Any such foliation is either hyperpolar or the canonical extension of a polar homogeneous foliation on a rank one symmetric space.

Abstract:Polarized and $G$-polarized CR manifolds are smooth manifolds endowed with a double structure: a real foliation $\Cal F$ (given by the action of a Lie group $G$ in the $G$-polarized case) and a transverse CR distribution $(E,J)$. Polarized means that $(E,J)$ is roughly speaking invariant by $\Cal F$. Both structures are therefore linked up. The interplay between them gives to polarized CR-manifolds a very rich geometry. In this paper, we study the properties of polarized and $G$-polarized manifolds, putting special emphasis on their deformations.

Abstract:Let $d\geq3$ be an integer. For a holomorphic $d$-web $\mathcal{W}$ on a complex surface $M$, smooth along an irreducible component $D$ of its discriminant $\Delta(\mathcal{W}),$ we establish an effective criterion for the holomorphy of the curvature of $\mathcal{W}$ along $D,$ generalizing results on decomposable webs due to Mar\'ın, Pereira and Pirio. As an application, we deduce a complete characterization for the holomorphy of the curvature of the Legendre transform (dual web) $\mathrm{Leg}\mathcal{H}$ of a homogeneous foliation $\mathcal{H}$ of degree $d$ on $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}},$ generalizing some of our previous results. This then allows us to study the flatness of the $d$-web $\mathrm{Leg}\mathcal{H}$ in the particular case where the foliation $\mathcal{H}$ is Galois. When the Galois group of $\mathcal{H}$ is cyclic, we show that $\mathrm{Leg}\mathcal{H}$ is flat if and only if $\mathcal{H}$ is given, up to linear conjugation, by one of the two 1-forms $\omega_1^{\hspace{0.2mm}d}=y^d\mathrm{d}x-x^d\mathrm{d}y$, $\omega_2^{\hspace{0.2mm}d}=x^d\mathrm{d}x-y^d\mathrm{d}y.$ When the Galois group of $\mathcal{H}$ is non-cyclic, we obtain that $\mathrm{Leg}\mathcal{H}$ is always flat.

Abstract:Let d≥3 be an integer. For a holomorphic d ‐web W on a complex surface M , smooth along an irreducible component D of its discriminant Δ(W) , we establish an effective criterion for the holomorphy of the curvature of W along D , generalizing results on decomposable webs due to Marín, Pereira, and Pirio. As an application, we deduce a complete characterization for the holomorphy of the curvature of the Legendre transform (dual web) LegH of a homogeneous foliation H of degree d on PC2 , generalizing some of our previous results. Abstract:In this article, we study the geometric properties of codimension one foliations on Riemannian manifolds equipped with vector fields that are closed and conformal. Apart from its singularities, these vector fields define codimension one foliations with nice geometric features, which we call Montiel Foliations. We investigate conditions for which a foliation transverse to this structure has totally geodesic leaves, as well as how the ambient space and the geometry of the leaves forces a given foliation into a Montiel Foliation. Our main results concern minimal leaves and constant mean curvature foliations, having compact or complete noncompact leaves. Finally, we characterize totally geodesic foliations by means of its relation to a prior Montiel Foliation.

Abstract:In this paper we aim at the description of foliations having tangent sheaf $T\mathcal F$ with $c_1(T\mathcal F)=c_2(T\mathcal F)=0$ on non-uniruled projective manifolds. We prove that the universal covering of the ambient manifold splits as a product, and that the Zariski closure of a general leaf of $\mathcal F$ is an Abelian variety. It turns out that the analytic type of the Zariski closures of leaves may vary from leaf to leaf. We discuss how this variation is related to arithmetic properties of the tangent sheaf of the foliation.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometry of projective varieties polarised by ample and more generally nef and big Weil divisors. First we study birational boundedness of linear systems. We show that if $X$ is a projective variety of dimension $d$ with $\epsilon $ -lc singularities for $\epsilon >0$ , and if $N$ is a nef and big Weil divisor on $X$ such that $N-K_{X}$ is pseudo-effective, then the linear system $|mN|$ defines a birational map for some natural number $m$ depending only on $d,\epsilon $ . This is key to proving various other results. For example, it implies that if $N$ is a big Weil divisor (not necessarily nef) on a klt Calabi-Yau variety of dimension $d$ , then the linear system $|mN|$ defines a birational map for some natural number $m$ depending only on $d$ . It also gives new proofs of some known results, for example, if $X$ is an $\epsilon $ -lc Fano variety of dimension $d$ then taking $N=-K_{X}$ we recover birationality of $|-mK_{X}|$ for bounded $m$ . We prove similar birational boundedness results for nef and big Weil divisors $N$ on projective klt varieties $X$ when both $K_{X}$ and $N-K_{X}$ are pseudo-effective (here $X$ is not assumed $\epsilon $ -lc). Using the above, we show boundedness of polarised varieties under some natural conditions. We extend these to boundedness of semi-log canonical Calabi-Yau pairs polarised by effective ample Weil divisors not containing lc centres. We will briefly discuss applications to existence of projective coarse moduli spaces of such polarised Calabi-Yau pairs.
Veering triangulations and transverse foliations

Abstract:We present a combinatorial approach to the existence of foliations and contact structures transverse to a given pseudo-Anosov flow. Let $\varphi$ be a transitive pseudo-Anosov flow on a closed oriented 3-manifold. Our main technical result is that every codimension 1 foliation transverse to $\varphi$ is carried by a single branched surface coming from a veering triangulation. Combined with recent breakthrough work of Massoni, this reduces the existence problem for transverse foliations to something like the feasibility of a system of inequalities (rather than equations!) over $Homeo_+([0,1])$. As a proof of concept, we show that for the hyperbolic, fibered, non-L-space knot $10_{145}$, the natural pseudo-Anosov flow on the slope $s$ Dehn surgery admits a transverse foliation for $s\in (-\infty, 3)$, but does not admit such a foliation for $s\in [5,\infty)$. The negative result is part of a more general Milnor--Wood type phenomenon which puts limitations on some well known methods for constructing taut foliations on Dehn surgeries.

In this paper, we investigate the topological nature of the polar mapping A → A ° on , where d AW denotes the Attouch–Wets metric. We prove that is homeomorphic to the Hilbert cube and the polar mapping is topologically conjugate with the standard based-free involution σ : Q → Q , defined by σ ( x ) = − x for all x ∈ Q . We also prove that among the inclusion-reversing involutions on (also called dualities), those and only those with a unique fixed point are topologically conjugate with the polar mapping, and they can be characterized as all the maps of the form f ( A ) = T ( A °), with T a positive-definite linear isomorphism of R n .

Numerically flat foliations and holomorphic Poisson geometry

Abstract:We investigate the structure of smooth holomorphic foliations with numerically flat tangent bundles on compact Kähler manifolds. Extending earlier results on non-uniruled projective manifolds by the second and fourth authors, we show that such foliations induce a decomposition of the tangent bundle of the ambient manifold, have leaves uniformized by Euclidean spaces, and have torsion canonical bundle. Additionally, we prove that smooth two-dimensional foliations with numerically trivial canonical bundle on projective manifolds are either isotrivial fibrations or have numerically flat tangent bundles. This in turn implies a global Weinstein splitting theorem for rank-two Poisson structures on projective manifolds. We also derive new Hodge-theoretic conditions for the existence of zeros of Poisson structures on compact Kähler manifolds.

Abstract:We conclude the classification of isoparametric (or equivalently, polar) foliations of complex and quaternionic projective spaces. This is done by investigating the projections of certain inhomogeneous isoparametric foliations of the 31-sphere under the respective Hopf fibrations, thereby solving the last remaining open cases.

Abstract:Brunella's classification implies that every smooth foliation on a compact complex surface admits a singular transversely projective structure. However, Biswas and Sorin's recent work shows that certain foliations on compact complex surfaces, despite possessing a singular transversely projective structure, do not admit a regular transversely projective structure. Here, we describe the smooth foliations on compact complex surfaces which fail to possess a regular transversely projective structure.

Abstract:The generic fiber of a Lagrangian fibration on an irreducible holomorphic symplectic manifold is an abelian variety. Associate a polarization type to such Lagrangian fibrations coming from polarizations on a generic fiber. We prove that this polarization type is constant in families of Lagrangian fibrations. Further, we determine the polarization type of K3^[n]-type fibrations and conjecture that the polarization type should only depend on the deformation type of the total space.
