Optimising medical elastomer performance

Abstract:The ability of DSC to detect and quantify the degree of cure is a major tool for optimising the property and processing of elastomer components. The rapid and information-rich OIT measurements can be applied in numerous ways to monitor and develop antioxidant packages. In addition, through some less applied tests, subtle differences between ionising radiation sources for sterilisation can be quantified and put to use in an advantageous way, for example, with reduction in surface tack and maintenance of mechanical strength in a surgical glove.
