Abstract:In 2007, Á. Baricz put forward a conjecture concerning Turán-type inequalities for Gaussian hypergeometric functions (see Conjecture \ref{ConjA} in Section \ref{Sec1}). In this paper, the authors disprove this conjecture with several methods, and present Turán-type double inequalities for Gaussian hypergeometric functions, and sharp bounds for complete and generalized elliptic integrals of the first kind.

Turán type oscillation inequalities in $L^q$ norm on the boundary of convex polygonal domains

Abstract:In 1939 Pál Turán and János Erőd initiated the study of lower estimations of maximum norms of derivatives of polynomials, in terms of the maximum norms of the polynomials themselves, on convex domains of the complex plane. As a matter of normalization they considered the family $\mathcal{P}_n(K)$ of degree $n$ polynomials with all zeros lying in the given convex, compact subset $K\Subset {\mathbb C}$. While Turán obtained the first results for the interval $I:=[-1,1]$ and the disk $D:=\{ z\in {\mathbb C}~:~ |z|\le 1\}$, Erőd extended investigations to other compact convex domains, too. The order of the optimal constant was found to be $\sqrt{n}$ for $I$ and $n$ for $D$. It took until 2006 to clarify that all compact convex \emph{domains} (with nonempty interior), follow the pattern of the disk, and admit an order $n$ inequality. For $L^q(\partial K)$ norms with any $1\le q <\infty$ we obtained order $n$ results for various classes of domains. Further, in the generality of all convex, compact domains we could show a $c n/\log n$ lower bound together with an $O(n)$ upper bound for the optimal constant. Also, we conjectured that all compact convex domains admit an order $n$ Turán type inequality. Here we prove this for all \emph{polygonal} convex domains and any $0< q <\infty$.

On the Heine Binomial Operators

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the Heine binomial operators H$_{n}(bD_{q})$ based on $q$-differential operator $D_{q}$. The motivation for introducing the operators H$_{n}(bD_{q})$ is that their limit turns out to be the $q$-exponential operator T$(bD_{q})$ given by Chen. The Hahn polynomials $\Phi_{m}^{(q^n)}(b,x|q)$ can easily be represented by using the operators H$_{n}(bD_{q})$. Here, we derive $q$-exponential and ordinary generating function, Mehler's formula, Rogers formula, and other identities for the polynomials $\Phi_{m}^{(q^n)}(b,x|q)$.

Higher Order Turan Inequalities for the Distinct Partition Function

Abstract:We prove that the number $q(n)$ of partitions into distinct parts is log-concave for $n \geq 33$ and satisfies the higher order Turán inequalities for $n\geq 121$ conjectured by Craig and Pun. In doing so, we establish explicit error terms for $q(n)$ and for $q(n-1)q(n+1)/q(n)^2$ based on Chern's asymptotic formulas for $\eta$-quotients.

Abstract:Abstract Our aim is to study and investigate the family of $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended ( incomplete and complete ) elliptic-type integrals for which the usual properties and representations of various known results of the ( classical ) elliptic integrals are extended in a simple manner. This family of elliptic-type integrals involves a number of special cases and has a connection with $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended Gauss’ hypergeometric function and $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended Appell’s double hypergeometric function $F_{1}$ F 1 . Turán-type inequalities including log-convexity properties are proved for these $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended complete elliptic-type integrals. Further, we establish various Mellin transform formulas and obtain certain infinite series representations containing Laguerre polynomials. We also obtain some relationship between these $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended elliptic-type integrals and Meijer G -function of two variables. Moreover, we obtain several connections with $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extended beta function as special values and deduce numerous differential and integral formulas. In conclusion, we introduce $(p, q)$ ( p , q ) -extension of the Epstein–Hubbell (E-H) elliptic-type integral.

Abstract:By using Mařík's theorem and the theory of multiplier sequences, we give some sufficient conditions for proving the higher order Turán inequalities for nonnegative sequences. As an immediate consequence, we present a simple proof of the higher order Turán inequalities for the Boros–Moll sequence, which were recently established by Jeremy Guo and then reproved by James Zhao.

Abstract:Let p,q≥1 be two real numbers such that 1p+1q=1, and let a,b∈R be two parameters defined on the domain of a function, for example, f. Based on the well known Hölder inequality, we propose a generic inequality of the form |f(ap+bq)|≤|f(a)|1p|f(b)|1q, and show that many basic special functions, such as the gamma and polygamma functions, Riemann zeta function, beta function and Gauss and confluent hypergeometric functions, satisfy this type of inequality. In this sense, we also present some particular inequalities for the Gauss and confluent hypergeometric functions to confirm the main obtained inequalities.

$q$-Hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials with $q=-1$

Abstract:We obtain some properties of a class of $q$-hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials with $q=-1$, described by a uniform parametrization of the recurrence coefficients. We show that our class contains the Bannai-Ito polynomials and other known -1 polynomials. We introduce some new examples of -1 polynomials and also obtain matrix realizations of the Bannai-Ito algebra.

Abstract:Let $\lambda =\left( \lambda_{1},\lambda_{2},...,\lambda_{r}\right) $ be an integer partition, and $\left[p_{\lambda }\right] $ the $q$-analog of the symmetric power function $%p_{\lambda }$. This $q$-analogue has been defined as a special case, in the author's previous article: "A $q$-analog of certain symmetric functions and one of its specializations". Here, we prove that a large part of the classical relations between $p_{\lambda }$, on one hand, and the elementary and complete symmetric functions $e_{n}$ and $h_{n}$, on the other hand, have $q$-analogues with $\left[ p_{\lambda }\right] $. In particular, the generating functions $E\left( t\right) =\sum\nolimits_{n\geq 0}e_{n}t^{n}$ and $H\left( t\right) =\sum\nolimits_{n\geq 0}h_{n}t^{n}$ are expressed in terms of $\left[ p_{n}\right] $, using Gessel's $q$-exponential formula and a variant of it. A factorization of these generating functions into infinite $q$-products, which has no classical counterpart, is established. By specializing these results, we show that the $q$-binomial theorem is a special case of these infinite $q$-products. We also obtain new formulas for the tree inversions enumerators and for certain $q$-orthogonal polynomials, detailing the case of dicrete $q$-Hermite polynomials.

Abstract:Our aim is to extend some trigonometric inequalities to Bessel functions. Moreover, we extend the hyperbolic analogue of these trigonometric inequalities. As an application of these results we present a generalization of Cusa-type inequality to modified Bessel function. Our main motivation to write this paper is a recent publication of Chen and Sándor, which we wish to complement.

Abstract:Let 0 < p ≤ 1 < q < ∞, and ω1, ω2 ∈ A1 (Muckenhoupt-class). We study an oscillating multiplier operator Tγ,β and obtain that it is bounded on the homogeneous weighted Herz-type Hardy spaces when . Also, for the unweighted case, we obtain the boundedness of Tγ,β under certain conditions on γ. These results are substantial improvements and extensions of the main results in the papers by Li and Lu and by Cao and Sun. As an application, we prove the boundedness of the spherical average S uniformly on t > 0.

Frobenius intertwiners for q-difference equations

Abstract:In this note we consider a class of $q$-hypergeometric equations describing the quantum difference equation for the cotangent bundle over projective space $X=T^{*}\mathbb{P}^n$ . We show that over $\mathbb{Q}_p$ these equations are equipped with the Frobenius action $z\to z^p$. We obtain an explicit formula for the constant term of the Frobenius intertwiner in therms of $p$-adic $q$-gamma function of Koblitz. In the limit $q\to 1$ our formula degenerates to the Frobenius intertwiners for the hypergeometric differential equations discovered by B.Dwork.

We proceed to obtain the hypergeometric representation of $\mathbb{H}_{n}(x;q)$ and explicit expressions for the corresponding ladder operators. From the latter, we obtain a novel kind of three-term recurrence formula with rational coefficients associated with these polynomial family. Moreover, for certain real values of $\alpha $, we present some results concerning the location of the zeros of $\mathbb{H}_n(x;q)$ and we perform a comprehensive analysis of their asymptotic behavior as the parameter $\lambda$ varies from zero to infinity.

Abstract:Since Gottlieb introduced and investigated the so-called Gottlieb polynomials in 1938, which are discrete orthogonal polynomials, many researchers have investigated these polynomials from diverse angles. In this paper, we aimed to investigate the q-extensions of these polynomials to provide certain q-generating functions for three sequences associated with a finite power series whose coefficients are products of the known q-extended multivariable and multiparameter Gottlieb polynomials and another non-vanishing multivariable function. Furthermore, numerous possible particular cases of our main identities are considered. Finally, we return to Khan and Asif’s q-Gottlieb polynomials to highlight certain connections with several other known q-polynomials, and provide its q-integral representation. Furthermore, we conclude this paper by disclosing our future investigation plan.

Abstract:In this paper, we present four characterizations of q-Dunkl-classical orthogonal polynomials. The first one is a Tθ,q -distributional equation of Pearson type fulfilled by its associated form, where Tθ,q is the q-Dunkl operator. The second is a second order linear Tθ,q -difference equation. The third is a first order linear Tθ,q -difference equation with polynomial coefficients satisfied by the corresponding Stieltjes function. The fourth is the so-called structure relation fulfilled by q-Dunkl-classical polynomials. Moreover, we provide an example of a non-symmetric sequence of Tθ,q -classical orthogonal polynomials.
