Abstract:In this paper we introduce a new property for normed algebras. This property which we call it stability, plays a key role in the studying of the theory of almost multiplier maps. In this note we study some of the basic properties of this notion and characterize stable algebras among similar algebras.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce and study the concept of hyper-instability as a strong version of multiplicative instability. This concept provides a powerful tool to study the multiplicative instability of Banach algebras. It replaces the condition of the iterated limits in the definition of multiplicative instability with conditions that are easier to examine. In particular, special conditions are suggested for Banach algebras that admit bounded approximate identities. Moreover, these conditions are preserved under isomorphisms. This enlarges the class of studied Banach algebras. We prove that many interesting Banach algebras are hyper-unstable, such as $ C^* $-algebras, Fourier algebras, and the algebra of compact operators on Banach spaces, each under certain conditions.

Invariants under Stable Equivalences of Morita Type

Abstract:The aim of this article is to study some invariants of associative algebras under stable equivalences of Morita type. First of all, we show that, if two finite-dimensional self-injective k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, then their orbit algebras are isomorphic. Secondly, it is verified that the quasitilted property of an algebra is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type. As an application of this result, it is obtained that if an algebra is of finite representation type, then its tilted property is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type; the other application to partial tilting modules is given in Section 4. Finally, we prove that when two finite-dimensional k-algebras are stably equivalent of Morita type, their repetitive algebras are also stably equivalent of Morita type under certain conditions.

Abstract:Let be a -algebra with the multiplier algebra . In this paper, we expand upon the concepts of "strongly type- -multi-norm" introduced by Dales and "2-power-norm" introduced by Blasco, adapting them to the context of a left Hilbert -module . We refer to these adapted notions as and , respectively. Our objective is to establish key properties of these extended concepts. We establish that a sequence of norms belongs to if and only if, for every operator in the matrix space , the norm of as a mapping from to equals the norm of the corresponding mapping from to . This characterization is a novel contribution that enriches the broader theory of power-norms. In addition, we prove the inclusion . Furthermore, we demonstrate that for the case of itself, we have . This extension of Ramsden's result shows that the only type- -multi-norm based on C is . To provide concrete insights into our findings, we present several examples in the paper.

Abstract:We investigate the deformation of involution and multiplication in a unital $C^*$-algebra when its norm is fixed. Our main result is to present all multiplications and involutions on a given $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$ under which $\mathcal{A}$ is still a $C^*$-algebra whereas we keep the norm unchanged. For each invertible element $a\in\mathcal{A}$ we also introduce an involution and a multiplication making $\mathcal{A}$ into a $C^*$-algebra in which $a$ becomes a positive element. Further, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for that the center of a unital $C^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$ is trivial.

Abstract:In earlier work we developed the theory of signatures of hermitian forms over algebras with involution with respect to orderings on the base field of the algebra and obtained in particular that the total signature of a hermitian form is a continuous function from the space of orderings of that field to $\mathbb{Z}$. In this note we give another presentation of signatures and also introduce and study the stability index of algebras with involution.

Abstract:Invariant norms, also called Barabanov norms, are defined in $R^d$ for any compact family $\mathcal A$ of $d \times d$ matrices. They correspond to the linear switching system, which is a differential equation $\dot x(t) = A(t)x(t)$, where $A(t) \in \mathcal A$ for each $t$. The invariant norm identifies the trajectories $x(t)$ of the fastest asymptotic growth as $t\to +\infty$. It also solves the stability problem. This norm is difficult to construct even for a pair of matrices. We show that in case $d=2$ the invariant norm can be found explicitly for every compact matrix family $\mathcal A$. If $\mathcal A$ does not contain a dominant matrix with a real spectrum, then this norm is always unique (up to a multiplier) and is $C^1$, otherwise, there may be infinitely many norms. All of them can be found and classified.

Abstract:In the given article the notion of infinite norm decomposition of a C$^*$-algebra is investigated. The norm decomposition is some generalization of Peirce decomposition. It is proved that the infinite norm decomposition of any C$^*$-algebra is a C$^*$-algebra. C$^*$-factors with an infinite and a nonzero finite projection and simple purely infinite C$^*$-algebras are constructed.

Abstract:The frequency-dependent attenuation typically obeys an empirical power law with an exponent ranging from 0 to 2. The standard time-domain partial differential equation models can describe merely two extreme cases of frequency independent and frequency-squared dependent attenuations. The otherwise non-zeor and non-square frequency dependency occuring in many cases of practical interest is thus often called the anomalous attenuation. In this study, we developed a linear integro-differential equation wave model for the anomalous attenuation by using the space fractional Laplacian operation, and the strategy is then extended to the nonlinear Burgers, KZK, and Westervelt equations. A new definition of the fractional Laplacian is also introduced which naturally includes the boundary conditions and has inherent regularization to ease the hyper-singularity in the conventional fractional Laplacian. Under the Szabo's smallness approximation where attenuation is assumed to be much smaller than the wave number, our linear model is found consistent with arbitrary frequency dependencies. According to the fact that the physical attenuation can be understood a statistic process, the empirical range [0,2] of the power law exponent is explained via the Levy stable distribution theory. It is noted that the power law attentuation underlies fractal microstructures of anomalously attenuative media.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a unital Banach function algebra with character space $\Phi_A$. For $x\in \Phi_A$, let $M_x$ and $J_x$ be the ideals of functions vanishing at $x$, and in a neighbourhood of $x$, respectively. It is shown that the hull of $J_x$ is connected, and that if $x$ does not belong to the Shilov boundary of $A$ then the set $\{y\in\Phi_A: M_x\supseteq J_y\}$ has an infinite, connected subset. Abstract:We examine the question of whether the Calkin algebra of a Banach space must have a unique complete algebra norm. We present a survey of known results, and make the observation that a recent Banach space construction of Argyros and Motakis (preprint, 2015) provides the first negative answer. The parallel question for the weak Calkin algebra also has a negative answer; we demonstrate this using a Banach space of Read (J. London Math. Soc. 1989).

Abstract:The analysis of stability in functional equations (FEs) within neutrosophic normed spaces is a significant challenge due to the inherent uncertainties and complexities involved. This paper proposes a novel approach to address this challenge, offering a comprehensive framework for investigating stability properties in such contexts. Neutrosophic normed spaces are a generalization of traditional normed spaces that incorporate neutrosophic logic. By providing a systematic methodology for addressing stability concerns in neutrosophic normed spaces, our approach facilitates enhanced understanding and control of complex systems characterized by indeterminacy and uncertainty. The primary focus of this research is to propose a novel class of Euler-Lagrange additive FE and investigate its Ulam-Hyers stability in neutrosophic normed spaces. Direct and fixed point techniques are utilized to achieve the required results.

Abstract:We develop criteria to guarantee uniqueness of the C$^*$-norm on a *-algebra $\mathcal{B}$. Nontrivial examples are provided by the noncommutative algebras of $\mathcal{C}$-valued functions $\mathcal{S}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ defined by M.A. Rieffel via a deformation quantization procedure, where $\mathcal{C}$ is a C$^*$-algebra and $J$ is a skew-symmetric linear transformation on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with respect to which the usual pointwise product is deformed. In the process, we prove that the Fréchet *-algebra topology of $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ can be generated by a sequence of submultiplicative *-norms and that, if $\mathcal{C}$ is unital, this algebra is closed under the C$^\infty$-functional calculus of its C$^*$-completion. We also show that the algebras $\mathcal{S}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ are spectrally invariant in their respective C$^*$-completions, when $\mathcal{C}$ is unital. As a corollary of our results, we obtain simple proofs of certain estimates in $\mathcal{B}_J^\mathcal{C}(\mathbb{R}^n)$.

An analytic version of stable arithmetic regularity

Abstract:We prove a structure theorem for stable functions on amenable groups, which extends the arithmetic regularity lemma for stable subsets of finite groups. Given a group $G$, a function $f\colon G\to [-1,1]$ is called stable if the binary function $f(x\cdot y)$ is stable in the sense of continuous logic. Roughly speaking, our main result says that if $G$ is amenable, then any stable function on $G$ is almost constant on all translates of a unitary Bohr neighborhood in $G$ of bounded complexity. The proof uses ingredients from topological dynamics and continuous model theory. We also prove several applications which generalize results in arithmetic combinatorics to nonabelian groups.
