Abstract:This is a study of weakly integral braided fusion categories with elementary fusion rules to determine which possess nondegenerately braided extensions of theoretically minimal dimension, or equivalently in this case, which satisfy the minimal modular extension conjecture. We classify near-group braided fusion categories satisfying the minimal modular extension conjecture; the remaining Tambara-Yamagami braided fusion categories provide arbitrarily large families of braided fusion categories with identical fusion rules violating the minimal modular extension conjecture. These examples generalize to braided fusion categories with the fusion rules of the representation categories of extraspecial $p$-groups for any prime $p$, which possess a minimal modular extension only if they arise as the adjoint subcategory of a twisted double of an extraspecial $p$-group.

Classification of certain weakly integral fusion categories

Abstract:We prove that braided fusion categories of Frobenius-Perron $p^mq^nd$ or $p^2q^2r^2$ are weakly group-theoretical, where $p,q,r$ are distinct prime numbers, $d$ is a square-free natural number such that $(pq,d)=1$. As an application, we obtain that weakly integral braided fusion categories of Frobenius-Perron dimension less than $1800$ are weakly group-theoretical, and weakly integral braided fusion categories of odd dimension less than $33075$ are solvable. For the general case, we prove that fusion categories (not necessarily braided) of Frobenius-Perron dimension $84$ and $90$ either solvable or group-theoretical. Together with the results in the literature, this shows that every weakly integral fusion category of Frobenius-Perron dimension less than $120$ is either solvable or group-theoretical. Thus we complete the classification of all these fusion categories in terms of Morita equivalence.

Abstract:We give a rigorous development of the construction of new braided fusion categories from a given category known as zesting. This method has been used in the past to provide categorifications of new fusion rule algebras, modular data, and minimal modular extensions of super-modular categories. Here we provide a complete obstruction theory and parameterization approach to the construction and illustrate its utility with several examples.

Abstract:Abstract This work is a development of braids, tensor categories and Yang–Baxter operators. According to Li [Li, F. (1998). Weak Hopf algebras and some new solution of quantum Yang-Baxter equation. J. Algebra 208:72–100; Li, F. (2000). Solutions of Yang-Baxter equation in endomorphism semigroup and quasi-(co)braided almost bialgebras. Comm. Algebra 28(5):2253–2270], it can be seen as a continuation of studying (not necessarily invertible) solutions of the (quantum) Yang–Baxter equation. We firstly introduce the right braid monoids and discuss their properties. Then, we define pre-tensor categories, pre-tensor functors and quasi-braided pre-tensor categories, and investiage their characterizations. Three examples are given from respectively a weak Hopf algebra, a crossed S-set of a Clifford monoid and the (strict) right braid category. Two universalities of the (strict) right braid category are gotten in order to characterize a category of general Yang–Baxter operators and a quasi-braided pre-tensor category. In a pre-tensor category we build a general centre of a pre-tensor category as a generalization of a centre and show that it is a quasi-braided pre-tensor category. At the end, a categorical interpretation of the quantum quasi-double of a weak Hapf algebra is obtained under a certain condition.
Classification of finite type fusion quivers

Abstract:In recent work, the second author introduced the concept of Coxeter quivers, generalizing several previous notions of a quiver representation. Finite type Coxeter quivers were classified, and their indecomposable objects were shown to be in bijection with positive roots, generalizing a classical theorem of Gabriel. In this paper we define fusion quivers, a natural generalization of Coxeter quivers. We classify the finite type fusion quivers, and prove the analogue of Gabriel's theorem. As a special case, this proves a generalised quantum McKay correspondence for fusion categories, an analogue of Auslander--Reiten's result for finite groups in the fusion categorical setting.

Infinitesimal braidings and pre-Cartier bialgebras

Abstract:We propose an infinitesimal counterpart to the notion of braided category. The corresponding infinitesimal braidings are natural transformations which are compatible with an underlying braided monoidal structure in the sense that they constitute a first-order deformation of the braiding. This extends previously considered infinitesimal symmetric or Cartier categories, where involutivity of the braiding and an additional commutativity of the infinitesimal braiding with the symmetry are required. The generalized pre-Cartier framework is then elaborated in detail for the categories of (co)quasitriangular bialgebra (co)modules and we characterize the resulting infinitesimal $\mathcal{R}$-matrices (resp. $\mathcal{R}$-forms) on the bialgebra. It is proven that the latter are Hochschild $2$-cocycles and that they satisfy an infinitesimal quantum Yang-Baxter equation, while they are Hochschild $2$-coboundaries under the Cartier (co)triangular assumption in the presence of an antipode. We provide explicit examples of infinitesimal braidings, particularly on quantum $2\times 2$-matrices, $\mathrm{GL}_q(2)$, Sweedler's Hopf algebra and via Drinfel'd twist deformation. As conceptual tools to produce examples of infinitesimal braidings we prove an infinitesimal version of the FRT construction and we provide a Tannaka-Krein reconstruction theorem for pre-Cartier coquasitriangular bialgebras. We comment on the deformation of infinitesimal braidings and construct a quasitriangular structure on formal power series of Sweedler's Hopf algebra.

Abstract:Zesting of braided fusion categories is a procedure that can be used to obtain new modular categories from a modular category with non-trivial invertible objects. In this paper, we classify and construct all possible braided zesting data for modular categories associated with quantum groups at roots of unity. We produce closed formulas, based on the root system of the associated Lie algebra, for the modular data of these new modular categories.

Abstract:We introduce the notion of deformed quantum vertex algebra module associated with a braiding map. We construct two families of braiding maps over the Etingof-Kazhdan quantum vertex algebras associated with the rational $R$-matrices of classical types. We investigate their properties and demonstrate the applications of the corresponding deformed modules to the (generalized) Yangians and reflection algebras.

Abstract:This paper is motivated by the quest of a non-group irreducible finite index depth 2 maximal subfactor. We compute the generic fusion rules of the Grothendieck ring of Rep(PSL(2,q)), q prime-power, by applying a Verlinde-like formula on the generic character table. We then prove that this family of fusion rings R_q interpolates to all integers q>=2, providing (when q is not prime-power) the first example of infinite family of non group-like simple integral fusion rings. Furthermore, they pass all the known criteria of (unitary) categorification. This provides infinitely many serious candidates for solving the famous open problem of whether there exists an integral fusion category which is not weakly group-theoretical. We prove that a complex categorification (if any) of an interpolated fusion ring R_q (with q non prime-power) cannot be braided, and so its Drinfeld center must be simple. In general, this paper proves that a non-pointed simple fusion category is non-braided if and only if its Drinfeld center is simple; and also that every simple integral fusion category is weakly group-theoretical if and only if every simple integral modular fusion category is pointed.

Abstract:Following the dimensional ladder, we develop a systematic categorification of the theory of quantum groups/bialgebras in the $A_\infty$ setting, and study their higher-representation theory. By following closely the generalized quantum double construction of Majid, we construct in particular the 2-quantum double $D(\mathcal{G})$ associated to a 2-bialgebra $\mathcal{G}$, and prove its duality and factorization properties. We also characterize a notion of (quasitriangular) 2-R-matrix $\mathcal{R}$ and identify the associated 2-Yang-Baxter equations, which can be seen as a categorification of the usual notion of $R$-matrix in an ordinary quantum group. The main result we prove in this paper is that the weak 2-representation 2-category $\operatorname{2Rep}^{\mathcal{T}}(\mathcal{G})$ of a quasitriangular 2-bialgebra $(\mathcal{G},\mathcal{T},\mathcal{R})$ -- when monoidally weakened by a Hochschild 3-cocycle $\mathcal{T}$ -- forms a braided monoidal 2-category.

Abstract:The Hecke algebras for all symmetric groups taken together form a braided monoidal category that controls all quantum link invariants of type A and, by extension, the standard canon of topological quantum field theories in dimension 3 and 4. Here we provide the first categorification of this Hecke braided monoidal category, which takes the form of an $\mathbb{E}_2$-monoidal $(\infty,2)$-category whose hom-$(\infty,1)$-categories are $k$-linear, stable, idempotent-complete, and equipped with $\mathbb{Z}$-actions. This categorification is designed to control homotopy-coherent link homology theories and to-be-constructed topological quantum field theories in dimension 4 and 5.

Abstract:We give two proofs of a level-rank duality for braided fusion categories obtained from quantum groups of type $C$ at roots of unity. The first proof uses conformal embeddings, while the second uses a classification of braided fusion categories associated with quantum groups of type $C$ at roots of unity. In addition we give a similar result for non-unitary braided fusion categories quantum groups of types $B$ and $C$ at odd roots of unity.

Abstract:In pointed braided fusion categories knowing the self-symmetry braiding of simples is theoretically enough to reconstruct the associator and braiding on the entire category (up to twisting by a braided monoidal auto-equivalence). We address the problem to provide explicit associator formulas given only such input. This problem was solved by Quinn in the case of finitely many simples. We reprove and generalize this in various ways. In particular, we show that extra symmetries of Quinn's associator can still be arranged to hold in situations where one has infinitely many isoclasses of simples.

Abstract:We classify connected étale algebras $A$'s in multiplicity-free modular fusion categories $\mathcal B$'s with $\text{rank}(\mathcal B)\le9$. We also identify categories $\mathcal B_A$'s of right $A$-modules. The results have physical applications in constraining renormalization group flows. As demonstration, we study massive renormalization group flows from non-unitary minimal models to predict ground state degeneracies and prove spontaneous $\mathcal B$-symmetry breaking.

Abstract:A braided fusion category is said to have Property $\textbf{F}$ if the associated braid group representations factor over a finite group. We verify integral metaplectic modular categories have property $\textbf{F}$ by showing these categories are group theoretical. For the special case of integral categories $\mathcal{C}$ with the fusion rules of $SO(8)_2$ we determine the finite group $G$ for which $Rep(D^{\omega}G)$ is braided equivalent to $\mathcal{Z}(\mathcal{C})$. In addition, we determine the associated classical link invariant, an evaluation of the 2-variable Kauffman polynomial at a point.

Abstract:We study finite quasi-quantum groups in their quiver setting developed recently by the first author. We obtain a classification of finite-dimensional pointed Majid algebras of finite corepresentation type, or equivalently a classification of elementary quasi-Hopf algebras of finite representation type, over the field of complex numbers. By the Tannaka-Krein duality principle, this provides a classification of the finite tensor categories in which every simple object has Frobenius-Perron dimension 1 and there are finitely many indecomposable objects up to isomorphism. Some interesting information of these finite tensor categories is given by making use of the quiver representation theory.
