Abstract:The leading QCD part of the four-loop contribution to the effective potential for the Standard Model Higgs field is found. As a byproduct, I also find the corresponding contribution to the four-loop beta function of the Higgs self-interaction coupling.

A new coefficient is found in the beta function of the quartic coupling and a class of gauge invariants is found to be absent in the beta functions of hadronic Yukawa couplings. Abstract:The Higgs self-interactions play a crucial role in exploring the underlying mechanisms of electroweak symmetry breaking and the nature of the phase transition involved. In this article, we propose to probe the quartic Higgs self-interaction at lepton and hadron colliders, via the di-Higgs productions. We analyze the contributions of the quartic Higgs coupling, including the renormalization of the cubic Higgs coupling and the modification of the VVhh form factor, to the vector boson-fusion and the vector boson-associated di- Higgs productions at one-loop level. Such an effect is independent of the choice of gauge fixing, if the quartic Higgs coupling is decoupled from other couplings in the contexts considered. Notably, a combination of these two di-Higgs productions is important for optimizing the collider sensitivities to probe the quartic Higgs coupling. With this guideline, we explore the International Linear Collider and Compact Linear Collider sensitivities, and find that the International Linear Collider has the potential to measure the quartic Higgs coupling, normalized by its standard model value, with a precision of similar to +/- 25 (500 GeV, 4 ab(-1 )+ 1 TeV, 2.5 ab(-1)) and similar to +/- 20 (500 GeV, 4 ab(-1 )+ 1 TeV, 8 ab(-1)), at 1 sigma C.L., after marginalizing the cubic Higgs coupling in the chi(2) analysis. The dependence on the renormalization scheme of the cubic Higgs coupling is discussed.

Abstract:Higgs bosons can be produced copiously at the LHC via gluon fusion induced by top and bottom quark loops, and can be enhanced strongly if extra heavy quarks exist. We present results for Higgs + zero-, one- and two-jet production at the LHC operating at 7 and 14 TeV collision energy, in both the standard model and the 4th generation model, by evaluating the corresponding heavy quark triangle, box, and pentagon Feynman diagrams. We compare the results by using the effective Higgs-gluon interactions in the limit of heavy quarks with the cross sections including the full mass dependences. NLO effects on Higgs + zero-jet production rate with full mass dependence are presented for the first time consistently in the 4th generation model. Our results improve the theoretical basis for fourth generation effects on the Higgs boson search at the LHC.

Abstract:We present the calculation of the next-to-leading-order corrections for Higgs boson+jet production at the Large Hadron Collider, that arise from the Higgs trilinear self-coupling ( λHHH ). We use the method of large top-quark mass expansion to tackle the challenging two-loop virtual amplitude and apply the Padé approximation to extend the region of convergence of this expansion. We find that the λHHH -related corrections amount to 0.66% for the total cross section. For the invariant mass distribution and Higgs boson transverse momentum distribution, the corrections are mostly in the range 0.5%–0.7%. Stability of Subsequent-to-Leading-Logarithm Corrections to the Effective Potential for Radiative Electroweak Symmetry Breaking

Abstract:We demonstrate the stability under subsequent-to-leading logarithm corrections of the quartic scalar-field coupling constant $\lambda$ and the running Higgs boson mass obtained from the (initially massless) effective potential for radiatively broken electroweak symmetry in the single-Higgs-Doublet Standard Model. Such subsequent-to-leading logarithm contributions are systematically extracted from the renormalization group equation considered beyond one-loop order. We show $\lambda$ to be the dominant coupling constant of the effective potential for the radiatively broken case of electroweak symmetry. We demonstrate the stability of $\lambda$ and the running Higgs boson mass through five orders of successively subleading logarithmic corrections to the scalar-field-theory projection of the effective potential for which all coupling constants except the dominant coupling constant $\lambda$ are disregarded. We present a full next-to-leading logarithm potential in the three dominant Standard Model coupling constants ($t$-quark-Yukawa, $\alpha_s$, and $\lambda$) from these coupling constants' contribution to two loop $\beta$- and $\gamma$-functions. Finally, we demonstrate the manifest order-by-order stability of the physical Higgs boson mass in the 220-231 GeV range. In particular, we obtain a 231 GeV physical Higgs boson mass inclusive of the $t$-quark-Yukawa and $\alpha_s$ coupling constants to next-to-leading logarithm order, and inclusive of the smaller $SU(2)\times U(1)$ gauge coupling constants to leading logarithm order.

Abstract:The effective potential has been previously calculated through three-loop order, in Landau gauge, for a general renormalizable theory using dimensional regularization. However, dimensional regularization is not appropriate for softly broken supersymmetric gauge theories, because it explicitly violates supersymmetry. In this paper, I obtain the three-loop effective potential using a supersymmetric regulator based on dimensional reduction. Checks follow from the vanishing of the effective potential in examples with supersymmetric vacua, and from renormalization-scale invariance in examples for which supersymmetry is broken, either spontaneously or explicitly by soft terms. Abstract:We present the results for three-loop beta-function for the Higgs self-coupling calculated within the unbroken phase of the Standard Model. We also provide the results for three-loop beta-function for Higgs mass parameter, which was easily extracted from our calculation. Our results coincide with that of recent paper of K. Chetyrkin and M. Zoller (2013) [1]. In addition, the expression for the Higgs field anomalous dimension is given.

Abstract:I obtain the effective Kähler potential at three-loop order for a general renormalizable supersymmetric theory containing only chiral supermultiplets. The three-loop contribution is remarkably simple, consisting of only four terms involving three distinct renormalized master integrals. In the case of the Wess-Zumino model with a single chiral superfield, I also obtain the effective auxiliary field potential at three-loop order, extending previous results at one-loop order. The method used is inferential, relying on existing knowledge of the ordinary scalar effective potential.

Abstract:After the extraordinary discovery of the Higgs boson at the LHC, the next goal is to pin down its underlying dynamics by measuring the Higgs self-couplings, along with its couplings to gauge and matter particles. As a prototype model of new physics in the scalar sector, we consider the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) with CP-conservation, and evaluate the prospects for measuring the trilinear scalar couplings among the CP-even Higgs bosons $h$ and $H$ ($\lambda^{hhh}$, $\lambda^{hhH}$, $\lambda^{hHH}$) at LHC14. The continuum and resonant production of CP-even Higgs boson pairs, $hh$ and $hH$, offer complementary probes of the scalar potential away from the light-Higgs decoupling limit. We identify the viable search channels at LHC14 and estimate their expected discovery sensitivities.

Abstract:We apply the covariant derivative expansion of the Coleman-Weinberg potential to the sfermion sector in the minimal supersymmetric standard model, matching it to the relevant dimension-6 operators in the standard model effective field theory at one-loop level. Emphasis is paid to nondegenerate large soft supersymmetry breaking mass squares, and the most general analytical Wilson coefficients are obtained for all pure bosonic dimension-6 operators. In addition to the non-logarithmic contributions, they generally have another logarithmic contributions. Various numerical results are shown, in particular the constraints in the large $X_t$ branch reproducing the $125$~GeV Higgs mass can be pushed to high values to almost completely probe the low stop mass region at the future FCC-ee experiment, even given the Higgs mass calculation uncertainty.

Abstract:In supersymmetric theories the Higgs boson masses are derived quantities where higher-order corrections have to be included in order to match the measured Higgs mass value at the precision of current experiments. Closely related through the Higgs potential are the Higgs self-interactions. In addition, the measurement of the trilinear Higgs self-coupling provides the first step towards the reconstruction of the Higgs potential and the experimental verification of the Higgs mechanism sui generis. In this paper, we advance our prediction of the trilinear Higgs self-couplings in the CP-violating Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the SM (NMSSM). We provide the ${\cal O}(\alpha_t^2)$ corrections in the gaugeless limit at vanishing external momenta. The higher-order corrections turn out to be larger than the corresponding mass corrections but show the expected perturbative convergence. The inclusion of the loop-corrected effective trilinear Higgs self-coupling in gluon fusion into Higgs pairs and the estimate of the theoretical uncertainty due to missing higher-order corrections indicate that the missing electroweak higher-order corrections may be significant.

Two-loop running effects in Higgs physics in Standard Model Effective Field Theory

Abstract:We consider the renormalization group equations within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory and compute two-loop contributions proportional to the top quark Yukawa coupling for the operator generating an effective Higgs-gluon coupling, focusing on the Yukawa-like operator. These two-loop running effects are relevant for processes where the effective Higgs-gluon coupling contributes at a lower loop order compared to the Standard Model contribution and where a dynamical scale choice is adopted. Such a situation arises, for instance, in the Higgs transverse momentum distribution and Higgs pair production. We investigate the phenomenological impact of our computations on these two processes and find that the two-loop contributions are significant and can lead to deviations of up to 20\% in the scenarios we consider.

Abstract:We calculate the four-top-quark operator contributions to Higgs production via gluon fusion in the Standard Model effective field theory. The four-top operators enter for the first time via two-loop diagrams. Owing to their chiral structure they contain γ5 , so special care needs to be taken when using dimensional regularization for the loop integrals. We use two different schemes for the continuation of γ5 to D space-time dimensions in our calculations and present a mapping for the parameters in the two schemes. This generically leads to an interplay of different operators, such as four-top operators, chromomagnetic operators, or Yukawa-type operators at the loop level. Abstract:The determination of the Higgs self-coupling is one of the key ingredients for understanding the mechanism behind the electroweak symmetry breaking. An indirect method for constraining the Higgs trilinear self-coupling via single Higgs production at next-to-leading order (NLO) has been proposed in order to avoid the drawbacks of studies with double Higgs production. In this paper we study the Higgs self-interaction through the vector boson fusion (VBF) process e(-)p -> v(e)hj at the future LHeC. At NLO level, we compute analytically the scattering amplitudes for relevant processes, in particular those induced by the Higgs self-interaction. A Monte Carlo simulation and a statistical analysis utilizing the analytic results are then carried out for Higgs production through VBF and decay to b (b) over bar, which yield for the trilinear Higgs self-coupling restating parameter kappa(lambda) the limit [-0.57, 2.98] with 2 ab(-1) integrated luminosity. If we assume about 10% of the signal survives the event selection cuts, and include all the background, the constraint will be broadened to [-2.11, 4.63].

Abstract: We compute the complete two-loop electroweak corrections to the Higgsstralung process $e^+e^-\rightarrow HZ$ at the future Higgs factory. The Feynman integrals involved in the computation are decomposed into linear combinations of a minimal set of master integrals taking advantage of the recent developments of integral reduction techniques. The master integrals are then evaluated by differential equations with boundary conditions provided by the auxiliary mass flow method. Our final result for given $\sqrt{s}$ is expressed as a piecewise function defined by several deeply expanded power series, which has high precision and can be further manipulated efficiently. Our calculation presents the first complete two-loop electroweak corrections for processes with four external particles.
