Abstract:Let $G=W(C_{n})$ be a whiskered cycle graph with edge ideal $I=I(G)$. We prove that for every $s\geq 1$, the equality ${\rm reg}(I^{s})=2s+\lceil \frac{n-1}{2}\rceil-1$ holds.

Abstract:Assume that $G$ is a graph with edge ideal $I(G)$ and let $I(G)^{(s)}$ denote the $s$-th symbolic power of $I(G)$. It is proved that for every integer $s\geq 1$, $${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s+1)})\leq \max\bigg\{{\rm reg}(I(G))+2s, {\rm reg}\big(I(G)^{(s+1)}+I(G)^s\big)\bigg\}.$$As a consequence, we conclude that ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(2)})\leq {\rm reg}(I(G))+2$, and ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(3)})\leq {\rm reg}(I(G))+4$. Moreover, it is shown that if for some integer $k\geq 1$, the graph $G$ has no odd cycle of length at most $2k-1$, then ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s)})\leq 2s+{\rm reg}(I(G))-2$, for every integer $s\leq k+1$. Finally, it is proven that ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{(s)})=2s$, for $s\in \{2, 3, 4\}$, provided that the complementary graph $\overline{G}$ is chordal.

Abstract:Assume that $G$ is a graph with edge ideal $I(G)$. For every integer $s\geq 1$, we denote the squarefree part of the $s$-th symbolic power of $I(G)$ by $I(G)^{\{s\}}$. We determine an upper bound for the regularity of $I(G)^{\{s\}}$ when $G$ is a chordal graph. If $G$ is a Cameron-Walker graphs, we compute ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{\{s\}}$ in terms of the induced matching number of $G$. Moreover, for any graph $G$, we provide sharp upper bounds for ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{\{2\}})$ and ${\rm reg}(I(G)^{\{3\}})$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a graph and $I=I(G)$ be its edge ideal. When $G$ is the clique sum of two different length odd cycles joined at single vertex then we give an explicit description of the symbolic powers of $I$ and compute the Waldschmidt constant. When $G$ is complete graph then we describe the generators of the symbolic powers of $I$ and compute the Waldschmidt constant and the resurgence of $I$. Moreover for complete graph we prove that the Castelnuvo-Mumford regularity of the symbolic powers and ordinary powers of the edge ideal coincide.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide exact formulas for the regularity of powers of an almost complete intersection ideal I which is generated by a homogeneous d -sequence. As applications, when I is an almost complete intersection, taking the form of a (parity) binomial edge ideal of a connected graph, we can describe explicitly reg(I^t) for t≥ 2 . The only exception is when I is the parity binomial edge ideal of a graph which is obtained by adding an edge between two disjoint odd cycles.

Abstract:Some recent investigations indicate that for the classification of Cohen-Macaulay binomial edge ideals, it suffices to consider biconnected graphs with some whiskers attached (in short, `block with whiskers'). This paper provides explicit combinatorial formulae for the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of two specific classes of Cohen-Macaulay binomial edge ideals: (i) chain of cycles with whiskers and (ii) $r$-regular $r$-connected block with whiskers. For the first type, we introduce a new invariant of graphs in terms of the number of blocks in certain induced block graphs, and this invariant may help determine the regularity of other classes of binomial edge ideals. For the second type, we present the formula as a linear function of $r$.

Abstract:Let $I(G)^{[k]}$ denote the $k^{th}$ square-free power of the edge ideal $I(G)$ of a graph $G$. In this article, we provide a precise formula for the depth of $I(G)^{[k]}$ when $G$ is a Cohen-Macaulay forest. Using this, we show that for a Cohen-Macaulay forest $G$, the $k^{th}$ square-free power of $I(G)$ is always Cohen-Macaulay, which is quite surprising since all ordinary powers of $I(G)$ can never be Cohen-Macaulay unless $G$ is a disjoint union of edges. Next, we give an exact formula for the regularity and tight bounds on the depth of square-free powers of edge ideals of cycles. In the case of whiskered cycles, we obtain tight bounds on the regularity and depth of square-free powers, which aids in identifying when such ideals have linear resolutions. Additionally, we compute depth of $I(G)^{[2]}$ when $G$ is a cycle or whiskered cycle, and regularity of $I(G)^{[2]}$ when $G$ is a whiskered cycle.

Abstract:Let $G_{n,r}$ denote the graph with $n$ vertices $\{x_1,\ldots,x_n\}$ in cyclic order and for each vertex $x_i$ consider the set $A_i=\{x_{i-r},\ldots,x_{i-1},x_{i+1},x_{i+2},\ldots, x_{i+r}\},$ where $x_{i-j}$ is the vertex $x_{n+i-j}$, whenever $i<j$ and $0\leq r\leq \Bigl\lfloor\dfrac{n}{2}\Bigr\rfloor -1$. In $G_{n,r}$, every vertex $x_i$ is adjacent to all the vertices of $V(G_{n,r})\backslash A_i$. Let $I=I(G_{n,r})$ be the edge ideal of $G_{n,r}$. We show that Minh's conjecture is true for $I,$ i.e. regularity of ordinary powers and symbolic powers of $I$ are equal. We compute the Waldschmidt constant and resurgence for the whole class.

Abstract:We prove that the powers of an edge ideal with linear quotients must also have linear quotients by employing a novel, easily implementable ordering of the minimal generators. As a consequence, we give explicit formulas for the projective dimension and Betti numbers of the edge ideals of whisker graphs. We also prove that second and higher powers of the edge ideals of anticycles admit linear quotient orderings, thus resolving an open question of Hoefel and Whieldon in the affirmative.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the concept of clique disjoint edge sets in graphs. Then, for a graph $G$, we define the invariant $\eta(G)$ as the maximum size of a clique disjoint edge set in $G$. We show that the regularity of the binomial edge ideal of $G$ is bounded above by $\eta(G)$. This, in particular, settles a conjecture on the regularity of binomial edge ideals in full generality.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the conjectured upper bound for Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of binomial edge ideals posed in [23], in the case of chordal graphs. Indeed, we show that the regularity of any chordal graph G is bounded above by the number of maximal cliques of G, denoted by c(G). Moreover, we classify all chordal graphs G for which L(G) = c(G), where L(G) is the sum of the lengths of longest induced paths of connected components of G. We call such graphs strongly interval graphs. Moreover, we show that the regularity of a strongly interval graph G coincides with L(G) as well as c(G).

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate whether the symbolic and ordinary powers of a binomial edge ideal $J_{G}$ are equal. We show that the equality $J_{G}^{t}=J_{G}^{(t)}$ holds for every $t \geq 1$ when $|Ass(J_{G})|=2$. Moreover, if $G$ is a caterpillar tree, then one has the same equality. Finally, we characterize the generalized caterpillar graphs which the equality of symbolic and ordinary powers of $J_{G}$ occurs.

Abstract:In this paper, we compare the regularities of symbolic and ordinary powers of edge ideals of weighted oriented graphs. For a weighted oriented graph $D$, we give a lower bound for $\reg(I(D)^{(k)})$, if $V^+$ are sinks. If $D$ has an induced directed path $(x_i,x_j),(x_j,x_r) \in E(D)$ of length $2$ with $w(x_j)\geq 2$, then we show that $\reg(I(D)^{(k)})\leq \reg(I(D)^k)$ for all $k\geq 2$. In particular, if $D$ is bipartite, then the above inequality holds for all $k\geq 2$. For any weighted oriented graph $D$, if $V^+$ are sink vertices, then we show that $\reg(I(D)^{(k)}) \leq \reg(I(D)^k)$ with $k=2,3$. We further study when these regularities are equal. As a consequence, we give sharp linear upper bounds for regularity of symbolic powers of certain classes of weighted oriented graphs. Furthermore, we compare the regularity of symbolic powers of weighted oriented graphs $D$ and $D'$, where $D'$ is obtained from $D$ by adding a pendent. We show linear upper bounds for regularity of symbolic and ordinary powers of complete graph $K_n$ and $K_n'$.
