Abstract:We prove existence and uniqueness of global-in-time solutions in the $W^{-1,p}_D$-$W^{1,p}_D$-setting for abstract quasilinear parabolic PDEs with nonsmooth data and mixed boundary conditions, including a nonlinear source term with at most linear growth. Subsequently, we use a bootstrapping argument to achieve improved regularity of these global-in-time solutions within the functional-analytic setting of the interpolation scale of Bessel-potential dual spaces $H^{\theta-1,p}_D = [W^{-1,p}_D,L^p]_\theta$ with $\theta \in [0,1]$ for the abstract equation under suitable additional assumptions. This is done by means of new nonautonomous maximal parabolic regularity results for nonautonomous differential operators operators with Hölder-continuous coefficients on Bessel-potential spaces. The upper limit for $\theta$ is derived from the maximum degree of Hölder continuity for solutions to an elliptic mixed boundary value problem in $L^p$.

Abstract:For a kind of quasilinear hyperbolic systems in several space variables whose coefficient matrices commute each other, by means of normalized coordinates, formulas of wave decomposition and pointwise decay estimates, the global existence of classical solution to the Cauchy problem for small and decaying initial data is obtained, under hypotheses of weak linear degeneracy and weakly strict hyperbolicity.

Abstract:Consider a quasi-linear system of two Klein–Gordon equations with masses m1, m2. We prove that when m1≠2m2 and m2≠2m1, such a system has global solutions for small, smooth, compactly supported Cauchy data. This extends a result proved by Sunagawa (J. Differential Equations 192 (2) (2003) 308) in the semi-linear case. Moreover, we show that global existence holds true also when m1=2m2 and a convenient null condition is satisfied by the nonlinearities.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the mixed initial-boundary value problem for quasilinear hyperbolic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions in a half-unbounded domain {(t, x)\ t greater than or equal to 0, x greater than or equal to 0}. Under the assumption that, the positive eigenvalues are weakly linearly degenerate, we obtain the global existence and uniqueness of C-1 solution with small and decaying initial data. Some applications are given for the system of the planar motion of an elastic string.

Abstract:We present a comprehensive theory of critical spaces for the broad class of quasilinear parabolic evolution equations. The approach is based on maximal $L_p$-regularity in time-weighted function spaces. It is shown that our notion of critical spaces coincides with the concept of scaling invariant spaces in case that the underlying partial differential equation enjoys a scaling invariance. Applications to the vorticity equations for the Navier-Stokes problem, convection-diffusion equations,the Nernst-Planck-Poisson equations in electro-chemistry, chemotaxis equations, the MHD equations, and some other well-known parabolic equations are given.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the existence of generalized solutions to coupling evolution p-Laplacian systems with the first initial boundary value conditions.The authors applied the method of parabolic regularization to prove the existence of generalized solution to the problem.By making a sequence of estimates to the solutions,the authors proved the weak convergence of the approximation solution sequence and hence testified the existence of generalized solutions.Finally,the authors found some conditions under which the solutions exists globally.

Abstract:It is shown that semilinear parabolic evolution equations $u'=A+f(t,u)$ featuring Hölder continuous nonlinearities $ f=f(t,u)$ with at most linear growth possess global strong solutions for a general class of initial data. The abstract results are applied to a recent model describing front propagation in bushfires and in the context of a reaction-diffusion system.

Under some weaker hypotheses on the interactions between two parts of equations, it is proved that for any given initial data with small W-1,W-1 and C-1 norms, the corresponding Cauchy problem admits a unique C-1 global classical solution. Abstract:Well-posedness in time-weighted spaces for quasilinear (and semilinear) parabolic evolution equations $u'=A(u)u+f(u)$ is established in a certain critical case of strict inclusion $\mathrm{dom}(f)\subsetneq \mathrm{dom}(A)$ for the domains of the (superlinear) function $u\mapsto f(u)$ and the quasilinear part $u\mapsto A(u)$. Based upon regularizing effects of parabolic equations, it is proven that the solution map generates a semiflow in a critical intermediate space. The applicability of the abstract results is demonstrated by several examples including a model for atmospheric flows and semilinear and quasilinear evolution equations with scaling invariance for which well-posedness in the critical scaling invariant intermediate spaces is shown.

Abstract:We consider a quasilinear parabolic–parabolic Keller–Segel system with a logistic type source ut=∇⋅(ϕ(u)∇u)−∇⋅(ψ(u)∇v)+g(u), vt=Δv−v+u in a smooth bounded domain Ω⊂Rn, n≥1, subject to nonnegative initial data and homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, where ϕ,ψ and g are smooth positive functions satisfying c1sp≤ϕ(s) and c1sq≤ψ(s)≤c2sq for p,q∈R and s≥s0>1, g(s)≤as−μsk for s>0, with constants a≥0, μ,c1,c2>0, and the extended logistic exponent k>1 instead of the ordinary k=2. It is proved that if qμ0 for some μ0>0, then there exists a classical solution which is global in time and bounded. This shows the exact way of the logistic exponent k>1 effecting the behavior of solutions.
