Abstract:To generalize the concept of Padé approximation for functions to more than one variable, several definitions have been introduced. All definitions have advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of these approaches has been discussed in many articles. One of the main disadvantages of these methods are low convergence rate and the loss of information in computing with low degrees. In this work we present a new definition of the multivariate Padé approximation, treated the more than one variable to the coefficients. Our definition is designed to avoid such disadvantages with retaining the advantages of simple and easily computation. The main result obtained as consequence of this definition is some properties and convergence results of the Montessus De Ballore theorem.

Abstract:We prove simultaneous universal Padé approximation for several universal Padé approximants of several types. Our results are generic in the space of holomorphic functions, in the space of formal power series as well as in a subspace of $A^{\infty}$. These results are valid for one center of expansion or for several centers as well.

Abstract:In this study, we intend to bring together Padovan and Perrin number sequences, which are one of the most popular third-order recurrence sequences, and hyperbolic spinors, which are used in several disciplines from physics to mathematics, with the help of the split quaternions. This paper especially improves the relationship between hyperbolic spinors both a physical and mathematical concept, and number theory. For this aim, we combine the hyperbolic spinors and Padovan and Perrin numbers concerning the split Padovan and Perrin quaternions, and we determine two new special recurrence sequences named Padovan and Perrin hyperbolic spinors. Then, we give Binet formulas, generating functions, exponential generating functions, Poisson generating functions, and summation formulas. Additionally, we present some matrix and determinant equations with respect to them. Then, we construct some numerical algorithms for these special number systems, as well. Further, we give an introduction for $(s,t)$-Padovan and $(s,t)$-Perrin hyperbolic spinors.

Abstract:It is well known that rational approximation theory involves degenerate hypergeometric functions and, in particular, the Padé approximation of the exponential function is closely related to Kummer hypergeometric functions. Recently, in the context of the study of the exponential stability of the trivial solution of delay-differential equations, a new link between the degenerate hypergeometric function and the zeros distribution of the characteristic function associated with linear delay-differential equations was emphasized. Such a link allowed the characterization of a property of time-delay systems known as multiplicity-induced-dominancy (MID), which opened a new direction in designing low-complexity controllers for time-delay systems by using a partial pole placement idea. Thanks to their relations to hypergeometric functions, we explore in this paper links between the spectrum of delay-differential equations and Padé approximations of the exponential function. Abstract:The Padua points are a family of points on the square [−1, 1]2 given by explicit formulas that admits unique Lagrange interpolation by bivariate polynomials. Interpolation polynomials and cubature formulas based on the Padua points are studied from an ideal theoretic point of view, which leads to the discovery of a compact formula for the interpolation polynomials. The Lp convergence of the interpolation polynomials is also studied.

Abstract:The Knop-Sahi interpolation Macdonald polynomials are inhomogeneous and nonsymmetric generalisations of the well-known Macdonald polynomials. In this paper we apply the interpolation Macdonald polynomials to study a new type of basic hypergeometric series of type g_n. Our main results include a new q-binomial theorem, new q-Gauss sum, and several transformation formulae for g_n series.

Abstract:In the present article we obtain generic approximations, under sharp conditions, of holomorphic functions on arbitrary open sets by sequences of their Padé approximants. Similar results hold for functions smooth on the boundary of their domain of definition. In addition, the approximation is valid simultaneously with respect to all centers of expansion.

Abstract:The combination of the global Padé approximation of the Mittag-Leffler function with its addition formula for the case $\alpha<1$ yields significantly higher accuracy results for a given arbitrary order $n$. We present a solution in terms of a Mathematica notebook to determine the general structure of the system of linear equations to be solved, followed by an implementation as a {\tt{C++}} program using the {\tt{Eigen}} template library for linear algebra. For a comparison with contour integral solutions we present an implementation as a {\tt{C++}} program using the {\tt{boost}} library's quadrature package employing the Gauss-Kronrod-method.

Abstract:Hypergeometric numbers can be recognized as one of the most natural extensions of the classical Cauchy numbers in terms of determinants, though many kinds of generalizations of the Cauchy numbers have been considered by many authors. In addition, there are some relations between the hypergeometric Cauchy numbers and the classical Cauchy numbers. In this paper, we give the determinant expressions of hypergeometric Cauchy numbers and their generalizations, and show some interesting expressions of hypergeometric Cauchy numbers.

Abstract:We define a hypergeometric series in $m$ variables with $p+(p-1)m$ parameters, which reduces to the generalized hypergeometric series $_pF_{p-1}$ when $m=1$, and to Lauricella's hypergeometric series $F_C$ in $m$ variables when $p=2$. We give a system of hypergeometric differential equations annihilating the series. Under some non-integral conditions on parameters, we give an Euler type integral representation of the series, and linearly independent $p^m$ solutions to this system around a point near to the origin. We show that this system is of rank $p^m$, and determine its singular locus.

Abstract:We review recent results on the connection between Hermite-Padé approximation problem, multiple orthogonal polynomials, and multidimensional Toda equations in continuous and discrete time. In order to motivate interest in the subject we first present a pedagogical introduction to the classical, by now, relation between the Padé approximation problem, orthogonal polynomials, and the Toda lattice equations. We describe also briefly generalization of the connection to the interpolation problems and to the non-commutative algebra level.

Abstract:The main purpose of the paper is to present some powerful data on the advantage of the rational approximation procedure based on Hermite-Padé polynomials over the Padé approximation procedure. The first part of the paper is devoted to some numerical examples in this direction. The second part will be devoted to some theoretical results. In particular, we demonstrate our ideas about the advantage of rational Hermite-Padé approximants over Padé approximants analyzing the analytical structure of the frequency function $\nu$ of the free Van der Pol equation.

Abstract:The irrationality exponent of an irrational p-adic number $\xi $, which measures the approximation rate of $\xi $ by rational numbers, is in general very difficult to compute explicitly. In this work, we shall show that the irrationality exponents of large classes of automatic p-adic numbers and Mahler p-adic numbers (which are transcendental) are exactly equal to 2. Our classes contain the Thue–Morse–Mahler p-adic numbers, the regular paperfolding p-adic numbers, the Stern p-adic numbers, among others.

Abstract:We study random interpolating sequences with prescribed radii in the Nevanlinna and Smirnov classes. As it turns out these are characterized by the Blaschke condition. This follows from a more general result. Indeed, we show that this characterization is true in so-called big Hardy-Orlicz spaces. It is noteworthy to mention that conditions for deterministic interpolation in these spaces are given by harmonic majorants, the existence of which is difficult to check in general.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss conditions for applying Frobenius's method to $A$-hypergeometric systems introduced by Okuyama and Saito [3]. We prove that, when the negative support of a fake exponent $v$ with respect to a generic weight $w$ is included in the core, we can construct all A-hypergeometric series with exponent $v$ in the direction $w$ by Frobenius's method. As an example, we describe the Aomoto-Gel'fand system of type $3 \times 3$ in details.

Abstract:We introduce hypergeometric-type sequences. They are linear combinations of interlaced hypergeometric sequences (of arbitrary interlacements). We prove that they form a subring of the ring of holonomic sequences. An interesting family of sequences in this class are those defined by trigonometric functions with linear arguments in the index and $\pi$, such as Chebyshev polynomials, $\left(\sin^2\left(n\,\pi/4\right)\cdot\cos\left(n\,\pi/6\right)\right)_n$, and compositions like $\left(\sin\left(\cos(n\pi/3)\pi\right)\right)_n$.

Abstract:Let p=2n+1 be an odd prime. In this paper, we mainly evaluate determinants involving (j+k/p)±(j-k/p), where (·/p) denotes the Legendre symbol. When p≡14, we determine the characteristic polynomials of the matrices [(j+k/p)+(j-k/p)]_1≤ j,k≤ n and [(j+k/p)-(j-k/p)]_1≤ j,k≤ n, and also prove that |x+(j+k/p)+(j-k/p)+(j/p)y+(k/p)z+(jk/p)w|_1≤ j,k≤ n = (-p)^(p-5)/4((p-1/2)^2wx-(p-1/2y-1)(p-1/2z-1)), which was previously conjectured by the second author.

Abstract:Motivated by our previous work on hypergeometric functions and the parbelos constant, we perform a deeper investigation on the interplay among generalized complete elliptic integrals, Fourier–Legendre (FL) series expansions, and Fqp series. We produce new hypergeometric transformations and closed-form evaluations for new series involving harmonic numbers, through the use of the integration method outlined as follows: Letting K denote the complete elliptic integral of the first kind, for a suitable function g we evaluate integrals such as∫01K(x)g(x)dx in two different ways: (1) by expanding K as a Maclaurin series, perhaps after a transformation or a change of variable, and then integrating term-by-term; and (2) by expanding g as a shifted FL series, and then integrating term-by-term. Equating the expressions produced by these two approaches often gives us new closed-form evaluations, as in the formulas involving Catalan's constant G∑n=0∞(2nn)2Hn+14−Hn−1416n=Γ4(14)8π2−4Gπ,∑m,n≥0(2mm)2(2nn)216m+n(m+n+1)(2m+3)=7ζ(3)−4Gπ2.

Generalized hypergeometric functions with several variables

Abstract:We introduce a hypergoemetirc series with two complex variables, which generalizes Appell's, Lauricella's and Kempé de Fériet's hypergeometric series, and study the system of differential equations that it satisfies. We determine the singularities, the rank and the condition for the reducibility of the system. We give complete local solutions of the system at many singular points of the system and solve the connection problem among these local solutions. Under some assumptions, the system is written as a KZ equation. We determine its spectral type in the direction of coordinates as well as simultaneous eigenspace decompositions of residue matrices. The system may or may not be rigid in the sense of N.~Katz viewed as an ordinary differential equation in some direction. We also show that the system is a special case of Gel'fand-Kapranov-Zelevinsky system. From this point of view, we discuss multivariate generalizations.
