Abstract:We develop a method of finding a Cox ring of a crepant resolution of a quotient singularity with a torus action and apply it to examples of symplectic quotient singularities in dimension 4. In addition we obtain a bound on the degrees of homogeneous generators of the Cox ring in a more general setup, based on the multigraded Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity and Kawamata-Viehweg vanishing.

Abstract:We study Cox rings of crepant resolutions of quotient singularities $\mathbb{C}^3/G$ where $G$ is a finite subgroup of $SL(3,\mathbb{C})$. We use them to obtain information on the geometric structure of these resolutions, number of different resolutions and relations between them. In particular, we treat explicitly several examples where $G$ contains elements of age 2.

Abstract:In this article, we study the iteration of Cox rings of klt singularities (and Fano varieties) from a topological perspective. Given a klt singularity (X,Δ;x) , we define the iteration of Cox rings of (X,Δ;x) . The first result of this article is that the iteration of Cox rings Cox(k)(X,Δ;x) of a klt singularity stabilizes for k large enough. The second result is a boundedness one, we prove that for an n ‐dimensional klt singularity (X,Δ;x) , the iteration of Cox rings stabilizes for k⩾c(n) , where c(n) only depends on n . Then, we use Cox rings to establish the existence of a simply connected factorial canonical (or scfc) cover of a klt singularity, with general fiber being an extension of a finite group by an algebraic torus. The scfc cover generalizes both the universal cover and the iteration of Cox rings. We prove that the scfc cover dominates any sequence of quasi‐étale finite covers and reductive abelian quasi‐torsors of the singularity. We characterize when the iteration of Cox rings is smooth and when the scfc cover is smooth. We also characterize when the spectrum of the iteration coincides with the scfc cover. Finally, we give a complete description of the regional fundamental group, the iteration of Cox rings, and the scfc cover of klt singularities of complexity one. Analogous versions of all our theorems are also proved for Fano‐type morphisms. To extend the results to this setting, we show that the Jordan property holds for the regional fundamental group of Fano‐type morphisms.

Abstract:Abstract We study the singularities of secant varieties of smooth projective varieties using methods from birational geometry when the embedding line bundle is sufficiently positive. More precisely, we study the Du Bois complex of secant varieties and its relationship with the sheaves of differential forms. Through this analysis, we give a necessary and sufficient condition for these varieties to have ‐Du Bois singularities (in a sense that was proposed in Shen, Venkatesh, and Vo [On k‐Du Bois and k‐rational singularities, arXiv e‐prints (June 2023), arXiv:2306.03977]). In addition, we show that the singularities of these varieties are never higher rational, by giving a classification of the cases when they are pre‐1‐rational. From these results, we deduce several consequences, including a Kodaira–Akizuki–Nakano type vanishing result for the reflexive differential forms of the secant varieties.

Abstract:We compute the Cox ring of an embedded variety $X \subseteq Z$ within a Mori dream space, under the assumption that the pullback map induces an isomorphism at the level of divisor class groups. We show that the Cox ring of $X$ is the intersection of finitely many localizations of a quotient image of the Cox ring of $Z$. As a consequence, we provide an algorithm that terminates if and only if the Cox ring of $X$ is finitely generated, thereby generalizing previous works on the subject. We apply these results to compute the Cox ring of hypersurfaces in smooth projective toric varieties.

Abstract:In this paper, we show the log canonical threshold values of the surfaces which has du Val type <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://singularities.These" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> surfaces can be interpreted as statistical or machine learning models. The results of $A_n, D_n, E_6, E_7$ and $E_8$ are shown. Bacause the calculation is done on complex fileld, this result would be different from the real fileld, which is in singular learning theory.

Abstract:The supersingular locus of the $\mathrm{GU}(1,n-1)$ Shimura variety at a ramified prime $p$ is stratified by Coxeter varieties attached to finite symplectic groups. In this paper, we compute the $\ell$-adic cohomology of the Zariski closure of any such stratum. These are known as closed Bruhat-Tits strata. We prove that the cohomology groups of odd degree vanish, and those of even degree are explicitely determined as representations of the symplectic group with a Frobenius action. Each closed Bruhat-Tits stratum is linearly stratified by Coxeter varieties attached to smaller symplectic groups. Thanks to results of Lusztig who computed the cohomology of Coxeter varieties for classical groups, we make use of the spectral sequence associated to this stratification and describe explicitely all the terms at infinity. We point out that the closed Bruhat-Tits strata have isolated singularities when the dimension is greater than 1. Our analysis requires discussing the smoothness of the blow-up at the singular points, as well as comparing the ordinary $\ell$-adic cohomology with intersection cohomology. A by-product of our computations is that these two cohomologies actually coincide, so that surprisingly the presence of singularities does not interfere with the cohomology.

Abstract:For each del Pezzo surface $S$ with du Val singularities, we determine whether it admits a $(-K_S)$-polar cylinder or not. If it allows one, then we present an effective $\mathbb{Q}$-divisor $D$ that is $\mathbb{Q}$-linearly equivalent to $-K_S$ and such that the open set $S\setminus\mathrm{Supp}(D)$ is a cylinder. As a corollary, we classify all the del Pezzo surfaces with du Val singularities that admit nontrivial $\mathbb{G}_a$-actions on their affine cones defined by their anticanonical divisors.

Abstract:Let $l$ and $p$ be distinct primes, let $F$ be a local field with residue field of characteristic $p$, and let $\mathfrak{X}$ be the irreducible component of the moduli space of Langlands parameters for $GL_3$ over $\mathbb{Z}_l$ corresponding to parameters of Steinberg type. We show that $\mathfrak{X}$ is Cohen-Macaulay and compute explicit equations for it. We also compute the Weil divisor class group of the special fibre of $\mathfrak{X}$, motivated by work of Manning for $GL_2$. Our methods involve the calculation of the cohomology of certain vector bundles on the flag variety, and build on work of Snowden, Vilonen-Xue, and Ngo.

Abstract:In this paper we study the problem of existence of orbifold Kaehler-Einstein metrics on del Pezzo surfaces of degree 1 with Du Val singular points. Moreover we compute global log canonical thresholds of del Pezzo surfaces of degree 1 with Du Val singularities and of del Pezzo surfaces of Picard rank 1 with Du Val singularities.

Abstract:We study GIT quotients $X_\theta=V\!/\!\!/\!_\theta G$ whose linearisation map defines an isomorphism between the group of characters of $G$ and the Picard group of $X_\theta$ modulo torsion. Our main result establishes that the Cox ring of $X_\theta$ is isomorphic to the semi-invariant ring of the $\theta$-stable locus in $V$. This applies to quiver flag varieties, Nakajima quiver varieties, hypertoric varieties, and crepant resolutions of threefold Gorenstein quotient singularities with fibre dimension at most one. As an application, we present a simple, explicit calculation of the Cox ring of the Hilbert scheme of $n$-points in the affine plane.

Abstract:We determine the cohomology of the closed Drinfeld stratum of $p$-Deligne--Lusztig schemes of Coxeter type attached to arbitrary inner forms of unramified groups over a local non-archimedean field. We prove that the corresponding torus weight spaces are supported in exactly one cohomological degree, and are pairwisely non-isomorphic irreducible representations of the pro-unipotent radical of the corresponding parahoric subgroup. We also prove that all Moy--Prasad quotients of this stratum are maximal varieties, and we investigate the relation between the resulting representations and Kirillov's orbit method.

Abstract:We give a proper definition of the multiplicative structure of the following rings: the Cox ring of invertible sheaves on a general algebraic stack; and the Cox ring of rank one reflexive sheaves on a normal and excellent algebraic stack. We show that such Cox rings always exist and establish their (non-)uniqueness in terms of an Ext-group. Moreover, we compare our definition with the classical construction of a Cox ring on a variety. Finally, we give an application to the theory of Mori dream stacks.

Triangulated characterizations of singularities

Abstract:This work presents a range of triangulated characterizations for important classes of singularities such as derived splinters, rational singularities, and Du Bois singularities. An invariant called 'level' in a triangulated category can be used to measure the failure of a variety to have a prescribed singularity type. We provide explicit computations of this invariant for reduced Nagata schemes of Krull dimension one and for affine cones over smooth projective hypersurfaces. Furthermore, these computations are utilized to produce upper bounds for Rouquier dimension on the respective bounded derived categories.

Local Euler characteristics of $A_n$-singularities and their application to hyperbolicity

Abstract:Wahl's local Euler characteristic measures the local contributions of a singularity to the usual Euler characteristic of a sheaf. Using tools from toric geometry, we study the local Euler characteristic of sheaves of symmetric differentials for isolated surface singularities of type $A_n$. We prove an explicit formula for the local Euler characteristic of the $m$th symmetric power of the cotangent bundle; this is a quasi-polynomial in $m$ of period $n+1$. We also express the components of the local Euler characteristic as a count of lattice points in a non-convex polyhedron, again showing it is a quasi-polynomial. We apply our computations to obtain new examples of algebraic quasi-hyperbolic surfaces in $\mathbb{P}^3$ of low degree. We show that an explicit family of surfaces with many singularities constructed by Labs has no genus $0$ curves for the members of degree at least $8$ and no curves of genus $0$ or $1$ for degree at least $10$.

Abstract:This paper deals with the problem of computing a generating set for the Cox ring $R(X)$ of a smooth projective rational surface $X$ with nef anticanonical class. In case $R(X)$ is finitely generated, we show that the degrees of its generators are either classes of negative curves, elements of the Hilbert basis of the nef cone or certain ample classes of anticanonical degree one, which only appear when $X$ is a rational elliptic surface of Halphen index $m>2$. Moreover, we partially characterize which elements of the Hilbert basis of the nef cone are irredundant for generating $R(X)$. We apply this result to compute explicit minimal generating sets for Cox rings of some rational elliptic surfaces of Halphen index $>1$.
