Abstract:We extend the spin (=12) chain model with alternating Heisenberg and Ising couplings to the case of anisotropic Heisenberg exchange. The model can be mapped to a bilinear fermion model, which is exactly solved via Jordan–Wigner and Bogoliubov transformations. We find low-energy excitations with a gap when the Ising coupling strength is not equal to 2. And this conclusion will not be changed for any kind of anisotropic Heisenberg exchange.

Abstract:We study the thermodynamics of an XYZ Heisenberg chain with Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which describes the low-energy behaviors of a one-dimensional spin-orbit-coupled bosonic model in the deep insulating region. The entropy and the specific heat are calculated numerically by the quasi-exact transfer-matrix renormalization group. In particular, in the limit $U^\prime/U\rightarrow\infty$, our model is exactly solvable and thus serves as a benchmark for our numerical method. From our data, we find that for $U^\prime/U>1$ a quantum phase transition between an (anti)ferromagnetic phase and a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid phase occurs at a finite $\theta$, while for $U^\prime/U<1$ a transition between a ferromagnetic phase and a paramagnetic phase happens at $\theta=0$. A refined ground-state phase diagram is then deduced from their low-temperature behaviors. Our findings provide an alternative way to detect those distinguishable phases experimentally.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, Volume 56, Issue 2, Page 1672-1726, April 2024. In this paper, we study the dynamical system driven by the ferromagnetic spin chain system defined in [math] with or without external fields. In the first part, we prove the convergence to equilibriums for arbitrary large initial data of finite energy and prove the existence of heteroclinic orbits emerging from equilibriums of nontrivial energy. Moreover, we find a topological property of these heteroclinic orbits. In the second part, we study the stabilization of these equilibriums by adding an external field. Particularly, we prove that any given finite numbers of equilibriums can be stabilized simultaneously by choosing some external field.

Abstract:We study quantum spin-1/2 Heisenberg ferromagnetic chains with dilute random antiferromagnetic impurity bonds with the modified spin-wave theory. By describing thermal excitations in the language of spin waves, we observe a low-temperature Curie susceptibility due to the formation of large spin clusters first predicted by the real-space renormalization-group approach, as well as a crossover to a pure ferromagnetic spin-chain behavior at intermediate and high temperatures. We compare our results of the modified spin-wave theory to quantum Monte Carlo simulations.

Abstract:Soliton excitations in the alternating ferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chain are investigated with the use of the coherent-state method combined with the Holstein-Primakoff bosonic representation of spin operators. When the Hamiltonian and the equations of motion are recast in dimensionless forms, we obtain two partial differential equations with nonlinear coupling. Their nonlinear modified terms are strongly restricted by two dimensionless small parameters that are used in the semiclassical approximation and in the long-wavelength approximation. With use of the method of multiple scales, these equations are reduced to the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, which describes the slow spatial components of the coherent-state amplitudes. The results show that solitonlike magnon localization and the two-magnon bound state are possible in the system. The possibility of observing a gap soliton in the alternating ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain is also discussed.

Abstract:Solitary waves in a spin chain with biquadratic anisotropic exchange interaction are investigated by means of the Holstein-Primakoff bosonic representation of spin operators. It is argued that the modified terms of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation are restricted strongly by the relative ratio of two small parameters η and ε used in long wave approximation and semiclassical approximation respectively. When assuming that η and ε2 have the same order (η−ε2, the so-called “super-long wave approximation”), after retaining terms of the equivalent order O(ε8), we find that the motion of Bose operator in the anisotropic case satisfies Schrödinger equation with high-order nonlinear term α|α|4. Its solitary wave solution and relevant physical results are discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the periodic solutions and Whitham modulation theory for the fifth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation, which can describe the one-dimensional anisotropic Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chain. First, we introduce the principle of the finite-gap integration method. Then, we discuss the single-phase periodic solutions and their degenerate forms in two limit cases. In addition, we analyze the influence of higher-order term parameters on the propagation of periodic solutions and solitons. Further, we derive the single-phase Whitham modulation equation for the fifth-order nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Moreover, we systematically derive the two-phase periodic solutions and the corresponding Whitham modulation equations.

Abstract:A general approach is given for the nonlinear excitations in the compressible Heisenberg ferromagnetic chain in coherent-state representation. It is shown that the relative ratio of epsilon to delta is very important for determining the nonlinear modified terms of the equations of motion. Epsilon = 1 square-root S (S is the spin length) and delta and a/lambda(0) (a is the lattice constant and lambda(0) is the characteristic wavelength of the excitations) are two small dimensionless parameters used in the semiclassical approximation and in the long wavelength approximation, respectively. In the case of delta = O(epsilon), the reduced equations of motion are solved exactly and spin soliton and elastic kink solutions are obtained. The other cases of the relation between delta and epsilon are also discussed and the solitary wave solutions are also given. The result obtained by Ferrer, as a special case, has been included in our approach.

Abstract:An inhomogeneous Heisenberg spin Hamiltonian with single ion anisotropy is used to investigate the nonlinear excitations in ferromagnetic chain. By means of the Holstein-Primakoff transformation and Glauber's coherent–state representation, the equation of motion for anni-hilation operator a(j) is reduced to a nonlinear Schrödinger-like equation in the semiclassical approximation and the long wave approximation. For a homogeneous system, the exact and explicitly single soliton (localized magnon state) and two–magnon bound state solutions are Given by the inverse scattering transform.

Abstract:The Schwinger-boson mean-field theory is applied to the quantum ferrimagnetic Heisenberg chain. There is a ferrimagnetic long-range order in the ground state. We observe two branches of the low-lying excitation and calculate the spin reduction, the gap of the antiferromagnetic branch, and the spin fluctuation at T=0 K. These results agree with the established numerical results quite well. At finite temperatures, the long-range order is destroyed because of the disappearance of the Bose condensation. The thermodynamic observables, such as the free energy, magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and the spin correlation at T>0 K, are calculated. The T chi(uni) has a minimum at intermediate temperatures and the spin-correlation length behaves as T-1 at low temperatures. These qualitatively agree with the numerical results and the difference is small at low temperatures. [S0163-1829(99)07225-2].

Abstract:The (2 + 1)-dimensional Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin chain equation which is used to characterize the nonlinear behavior of magnets and describe how ferromagnetic materials are ordered is the main subject of this investigation. The system's dynamics are governed by the Schrödinger equation, which explains the variations in its quantum state over time. We implement two modern and efficient techniques, the improved auxiliary equation scheme, and the improved tanh method to find the exact solutions of HSFC model and develop travelling wave solutions in terms of rational, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions with arbitrary parameters. Numerical findings are shown in 3-D plots, 2-D curves, and contours with carefully selected parametric values used to illustrate the dynamic wave shape using MATLAB software. The acquired results provide important insights into the physical implications of nonlinear dynamics in magnetic systems and significantly contribute to the understanding of electromagnetic wave models. The article finishes with a thorough appraisal of the physical interpretations generated from the obtained results.

Abstract:Motivated by recent experimental progress in the quasi-one-dimensional quantum magnet NiNb$_2$O$_6$, we study the spin dynamics of an S=1 ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with single-ion anisotropy by using a semiclassical molecular dynamics approach. This system undergoes a quantum phase transition from a ferromagnetic to a paramagnetic state under a transverse magnetic field, and the magnetic responses reflecting this transition is well described by our semiclassical method. We show that at low-temperature the transverse component of the dynamical structure factor depicts clearly the magnon dispersion, and the longitudinal component exhibits two continua associated with single- and two-magnon excitations, respectively. These spin excitation spectra show interesting temperature dependence as effects of magnon interactions.Our findings shed light on experimental detection of spin excitations in a large class of quasi-one-dimensional magnets.

Abstract:We establish a direct connection between inhomogeneous XX spin chains (or free fermion systems with nearest-neighbors hopping) and certain QES models on the line giving rise to a family of weakly orthogonal polynomials. We classify all such models and their associated XX chains, which include two families related to the Lamé (finite gap) quantum potential on the line. For one of these chains, we numerically compute the Rényi bipartite entanglement entropy at half filling and derive an asymptotic approximation thereof by studying the model's continuous limit, which turns out to describe a massless Dirac fermion on a suitably curved background. We show that the leading behavior of the entropy is that of a $c=1$ critical system, although there is a subleading $\log(\log N)$ correction (where $N$ is the number of sites) unusual in this type of models.

Abstract:We study the exact physical quantities of a competing spin chain which contains many interesting and meaningful couplings including the nearest neighbor, next nearest neighbor, chiral three spins, Dzyloshinsky-Moriya interactions and unparallel boundary magnetic fields in the thermodynamic limit. We obtain the density of zero roots, surface energies and elementary excitations in different regimes of model parameters. Due to the competition of various interactions, the surface energy and excited spectrum show many different pictures from those of the Heisenberg spin chain.

Abstract:By circumventing the difficulty of obtaining exact string state solutions to Bethe ansatz equations, we devise a truncated string state space approach for investigating spin dynamics in a nonintegrable spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg chain subjected to a staggered field at various magnetizations. The obtained dynamical spectra reveal a series of elastic peaks at integer multiples of the ordering wave vector $Q$, indicating the presence of multi-$Q$ Bethe string states within the ground state. The spectrum exhibits a separation between different string continua as the strength of the staggered field increases at low magnetization, reflecting the confinement of the Bethe strings. This approach provides a unified string-state-based framework for understanding spin dynamics in low-dimensional nonintegrable Heisenberg models, which has a successful application to observations across various phases of the quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnet $\rm YbAlO_3$.

Abstract:We theoretically investigate the spin wave (magnon) excitations in a classical antiferromagnetic spin chain with easy-axis anisotropy. We obtain a Dirac-like equation by linearizing the Landau- Lifshitz-Gilbert equation in this antiferromagnetic system, in contrast to the ferromagnetic system in which a Schrödinger equation is derived. The Hamiltonian operator in the Dirac-like equation is a pseudo-Hermitian. We compute and demonstrate the relativistic Zitterbewegung (trembling motion) in the antiferromagnetic spin chain by measuring the expectation values of the wave packet position.

Abstract:We investigate a non-equilibrium reaction-diffusion model and equivalent ferromagnetic spin 1/2 XY spin chain with alternating coupling constant. The exact energy spectrum and the n-point hole correlations are considered with the help of the Jordan-Wigner fermionization and the inter-particle distribution function method. Although the Hamiltonian has no explicit translational symmetry, the translational invariance is recovered after long time due to the diffusion. We see the scaling relations for the concentration and the two-point function in finite size analysis.
