Abstract:We determine the zeta functions of trinomial curves in terms of Gauss sums and Jacobi sums, and we obtain an explicit formula of the genus of a trinomial curve over a finite field, then we study the conditions for a trinomial curve to be a maximal curve over a finite field.

Abstract:Curves over finite fields are of great importance in cryptography and coding theory. Through studying their zeta-functions, we would be able to find out vital arithmetic and geometric information about them and their Jacobians, including the number of rational points on this kind of curves. In this paper, I investigate if it is possible to construct a curve over finite fields of a given genus $g$ whose zeta-function is given as a product of zeta-functions of $g$ elliptic curves, and find out alternative methods if it is not possible. Basically, I look for conditions which those $g$ elliptic curves should satisfy such that their product (of their Jacobians) is isogenous to the Jacobian of a curve of a given genus $g$. Then from this isogenous relationship I can determine the characteristic polynomial of the Frobenius endomorphism of the Jacobian of the new curve and by this characteristic polynomial I can thus determine the zeta-function of this new curve. By using the zeta-functions of curves in the form as generating functions, the number of rational points on curves can even be found out, which may lead to further researches relating to some applications in cryptography, coding theory and even information theory.

Abstract:Let $p$ and $q$ be distinct prime numbers, with $q\equiv 1\pmod{12}$. Let $N$ be a positive integer that is coprime to $pq$. We prove a formula relating the Hasse--Weil zeta function of the modular curve $X_0(qN)_{\mathbb{F}_q}$ to the Ihara zeta function of the $p$-isogeny graphs of supersingular elliptic curves defined over $\overline{\mathbb{F}_q}$ equipped with a $\Gamma_0(N)$-level structure. When $N=1$, this recovers a result of Sugiyama.

Abstract:We examine the coefficients in front of Chern numbers for complex genera, and pay special attention to the $\text{Td}^{\frac{1}{2}}$-genus, the $\Gamma$-genus as well as the Todd genus. Some related geometric applications to hyper-Kähler and Calabi-Yau manifolds are discussed. Along this line and building on the work of Doubilet in 1970s, various Hoffman-type formulas for multiple-(star) zeta values and transition matrices among canonical bases of the ring of symmetric functions can be uniformly treated in a more general framework.

Some curvature pinching theorems for pseudo-holomorphic curves with constant Kahler angles in G(m)(C-N) are obtained, so that the corresponding results for pseudo-holomorphic curves in complex projective spaces are generalized.

Abstract:We study Van der Geer--Van der Vlugt curves in a ramification-theoretic view point. We give explicit formulae on L-polynomials of these curves. As a result, we show that these curves are supersingular and give sufficient conditions for these curves to be maximal or minimal.

Abstract:We describe an algebra of meromorphic functions on the Siegel domain of genus two which contains Siegel modular forms for an arithmetic index six subgroup of the symplectic group, which is closed under three canonical derivations of the Siegel domain. The main ingredients of our study are the moduli of enhanced genus two curves, Gauss-Manin connection and the modular vector fields living on such moduli spaces.

Abstract:We present a new method for computing the zeta function of an algebraic curve over a finite field. The algorithm relies on a trace formula of Harvey to count points on a plane model of the curve. The zeta function of the curve is then obtained by making corrections at singular points. We report on an implementation and provide some examples in MAGMA which demonstrate an improvement over Tuitman's algorithm.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth proper curve over a finite field and let $\infty \in X$ be a closed point. Let $A$ be the ring of functions on $X - \infty$. The Goss zeta function $\zeta_A$ of $A$ is an equicharacteristic analogue of the Riemann zeta function. In this article we study the zeros of $\zeta_A$ under the generic condition that $X$ is ordinary. We prove an analogue of the Riemann hypothesis, which verifies a corrected version of a conjecture of Goss. We also show that the zeros of $\zeta_A$ at negative even integers are `simple' and that $\zeta_A$ is nonzero at negative odd integers. This answers questions posed by Goss and Thakur. Both of these results were previously only known under the restrictive hypothesis that $A$ has class number one. Finally, we prove versions of these results for $v$-adic interpolations of the Goss zeta function.

Abstract:The exceptional group $G_2$ has two maximal parabolic subgroups $P_{long}$, $P_{short}$ corresponding to the so-called long root and short root. In this paper, the second author introduces two zeta functions associated to $(G_2,P_{long})$ and $(G_2,P_{short})$ respectively, and the first author proves that these zetas satisfy the Riemann Hypothesis.

Abstract:We study the enumerative geometry of algebraic curves on abelian surfaces and threefolds. In the abelian surface case, the theory is parallel to the well-developed study of the reduced Gromov-Witten theory of K3 surfaces. We prove complete results in all genera for primitive classes. The generating series are quasimodular forms of pure weight. Conjectures for imprimitive classes are presented. In genus 2, the counts in all classes are proven. Special counts match the Euler characteristic calculations of the moduli spaces of stable pairs on abelian surfaces by Göttsche-Shende. A formula for hyperelliptic curve counting in terms of Jacobi forms is proven (modulo a transversality statement). For abelian threefolds, complete conjectures in terms of Jacobi forms for the generating series of curve counts in primitive classes are presented. The base cases make connections to classical lattice counts of Debarre, Goettsche, and Lange-Sernesi. Further evidence is provided by Donaldson-Thomas partition function computations for abelian threefolds. A multiple cover structure is presented. The abelian threefold conjectures open a new direction in the subject.

Abstract:In this paper, explicit determination of the cyclotomic numbers of order l and 2 l , for odd prime l ≡ 3 (mod 4), over finite field 𝔽_q in the index 2 case are obtained, utilizing the explicit formulas on the corresponding Gauss sums. The main results in this paper are related with the number of rational points of certain elliptic curve, called “Legendre curve”, and the properties and value distribution of such number are also presented.
Minimal surfaces and alternating multiple zetas

Abstract:In this paper we show for every sufficiently large integer $g$ the existence of a complete family of closed and embedded constant mean curvature (CMC) surfaces deforming the Lawson surfaces $\xi_{1,g}$ parametrized by their conformal type. When specializing to the minimal case, we discover a pattern resulting in the coefficients of the involved expansions being alternating multiple zeta values (MZVs), which generalizes the notion of Riemann's zeta values to multiple integer variables. This allows us to extend a new existence proof of the Lawson surfaces $\xi_{1,g}$ to all $g\geq 3$ using complex analytic methods and to give closed form expressions of their area expansion up to order $7$. For example, the third order coefficient is $\tfrac{9}{4}\zeta(3)$ (the first and second order term were shown to be $\log(2)$ and $0$ respectively in \cite{HHT}). As a corollary, we obtain that the area of $\xi_{1,g}$ is monotonically increasing in their genus $g$ for all $g\geq 0.$

Abstract:In this note, we characterize certain maximal superspecial curves of genus $5$ over finite fields. Specifically, we prove that the desingularization $T_p$ of $x y z^3 + x^5 + y^5 = 0$ is a maximal superspecial trigonal curve of genus $5$ if and only if $p \equiv -1 \pmod{15}$ or $p \equiv 11 \pmod{15}$. Moreover, we give families of maximal curves of more general type, which include $T_p$.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the properties of zeta functions associated with infinite graphs of groups that arise as quotients of cuspidal tree-lattices, including all non-uniform arithmetic quotients of the tree of rank one Lie groups over local fields. Through various examples, we illustrate pairs of non-isomorphic cuspidal tree-lattices with the same Ihara zeta function. Additionally, we analyze the spectral behavior of a sequence of graphs of groups whose pole-free regions of zeta functions converge towards 0, which also presents an example of arbitrary small exponential error-term in counting geodesic formula.

An automorphic description of the zeta function of the basic stratum of certain Kottwitz varieties

Abstract:We derive formulas for the number of points on the basic stratum of certain Kottwitz varieties in terms of automorphic representations and certain explicit polynomials, for which we present efficient algorithms for computation. We obtain our results using the trace formula, base change, representations of general linear groups over p-adic fields, and a truncation of the formula of Kottwitz for the number of points on Shimura varieties over finite fields.

Abstract:For a germ of a meromorphic function f=P/Q, we offer notions of the monodromy operators at zero and at infinity. If the holomorphic functions P and Q are non-degenerated with respect to their Newton diagrams, we give an analogue of the formula of Varchenko for the zeta-functions of these monodromy operators.

Abstract:We give an explicit formula of the coefficients of the Zeta-Function's L-polynomial for algebraic function fields over finite constant fields. Thus, we deduce an expression of the class number of algebraic function fields defined over finite fields. Moreover, we give an application of this formula in the case of the curves of defect 2 defined over $\mathbb{F}_2$.
