Abstract:We calculate, confirming a conjecture of Schröer, the Krull-Gabriel dimension of the category of modules over any domestic string algebra, as well as the Cantor-Bendixson rank of each point of its Ziegler spectrum. We also determine the topology on this space.

Abstract:We investigate the representation theory of domestic group schemes $\mathcal{G}$ over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p > 2$. We present results about filtrations of induced modules, actions on support varieties, Clifford theory for certain group schemes and applications of Clifford theory for strongly group graded algebras to the structure of Auslander-Reiten quivers. The combination of these results leads to the classification of modules belonging to the principal blocks of the group algebra $k\mathcal{G}$.

Abstract:We prove that among the finite dimensional algebras of finite representation type those that are string algebras are precisely the ones that have the property that the middle term of an arbitrary extension of indecomposable modules has at most two direct factors. On the other hand, we show that non-domestic string algebras are very far from having that property.

Abstract:Following the well-established terminology in commutative algebra, any (not necessarily commutative) finite-dimensional local algebra.. with radical.. will be said to be short provided J(3) = 0. As in the commutative case, we show: If a short local algebra.. has an indecomposable non-projective Gorenstein-projective module M, then either A is self-injective (so that all modules are Gorenstein-projective) and then, of course, vertical bar J(2)vertical bar <= 1, or else vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1 and vertical bar JM vertical bar = vertical bar J(2)vertical bar vertical bar M/JM vertical bar. More generally, we focus the attention to semi-Gorensteinprojective and 8-torsionfree modules, even to Omega-paths of length 2, 3 and 4. In particular, we show that the existence of a non-projective reflexive module implies that vertical bar J(2)vertical bar < vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar and further restrictions. In addition, we consider exact complexes of projective modules with a non-projective image. Again, as in the commutative case, we see that if such a complex exists, then.. is self-injective or satisfies the condition vertical bar J(2)vertical bar = vertical bar J/J(2)vertical bar - 1. Also, we show that any non-projective semi-Gorensteinprojective module M satisfies Ext(1)(M, M) not equal 0. In this way, we prove the Auslander-Reiten conjecture (one of the classical homological conjectures) for arbitrary short local algebras. Many arguments used in the commutative case actually work in general, but there are interesting differences and some of our results may be new also in the commutative case.

Abstract:Quasi-hereditary algebras are introduced by Cline, Parshall and Scott in order to study highest weight categories in the representation theory of Lie algebras and algebraic groups (see [CPS]). These algebras seem to become a very interesting class of algebras.Let A be a quasi-hereditary k-algebras over an algebraically closed field Ic. C.M.Ringel constructed in [R2] a new quasi-hereditary algebra R(A) from the given quasi-hereditary algebra A, his construction of R(A) from A has the property R(R(A)) congruent to A for any basic quasi-hereditary algebra A. The module: used in his construction is in fact a generalized tilting module and of special interest in the representation theory of algebaic groups (see [D] and [E]). Following [E] we call the algebra R(A) the Ringel dual of A.Suppose a quasi-hereditary algebra A is given by a quiver with relations. How to determine the quiver of R(A) and its relations seems to be a very difficult question. However, in this paper we try to study the Ringel duals for dual extension algebras, defined in [X], of incidence algebras of posets of tree type and to describe quivers of their Ringel duals. The main result of this paper is an explicite description of the quivers of the Ringel duals of these algebras and implies in particular that the quivers of R(A) are bipartite.

Abstract:It is proven each ring $R$ for which every indecomposable right module is pure-projective is right pure-semisimple. Each commutative ring $R$ for which every indecomposable module is pure-injective is a clean ring and for each maximal ideal $P$, $R_P$ is a maximal valuation ring. Complete discrete valuation domain of rank one are examples of non-artinian semi-perfect rings with pure-injective indecomposable modules.
On the stable radical of some non-domestic string algebras

Abstract:We introduce the concept of a prime band in a string algebra $\Lambda$ and use it to associate to $\Lambda$ its finite bridge quiver. Then we introduce a new technique of `recursive systems' for showing that a graph map between finite dimensional string modules lies in its stable radical. Further we study two classes of non-domestic string algebras in terms of some connectedness properties of its bridge quiver. `Meta-$\bigcup$-cyclic' string algebras constitute the first class that is essentially characterized by the statement that each finite string is a substring of a band. Extending this class we have `meta-torsion-free' string algebras that are characterized by a dichotomy statement for ranks of graph maps between string modules--such maps either have finite rank or are in the stable radical. Their stable ranks can only take values from $\{\omega,\omega+1,\omega+2\}$.

Abstract:String algebras, in the usual sense, are finite-dimensional algebras over a given ground field. We recall a generalisation of the definition of a string algebra, which was introduced in a previous paper of the author. This generalisation replaces the ground field with a noetherian local ring. We provide a way to generate examples of string algebras over any regular local ring, which depends on the Krull dimension.

Abstract:Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic 2. We calculate the vertices of all indecomposable kD8-modules for the dihedral group D8 of order 8. We also give a conjectural formula of the induced module of a string module from kT0 to kG where G is a dihedral group of order ⩾8 and where T0 is a dihedral subgroup of index 2 of G. Some cases where we verified this formula are given.

Abstract:It is proved that, for a left hereditary ring, an arbitrary left module has a representation in the form of the direct sum of a stable left module and indecomposable projective left modules (if and only if an arbitrary left module has a representation in the form of the direct sum of a stable left module and a projective left module) if and only if the ring is left perfect and right coherent. In that case, the above-mentioned representations are unique up to isomorphism; the latter representation is also functorial. The essential ingredient in the proofs of the above-mentioned statements is a certain purely categorical result. These statements, in particular, imply that, for any principal ideal domain that is not a field, the fundamental theorem on finitely generated modules over it can not be generalized to the case of all modules. Moreover, with the aid of the above-mentioned categorical approach, we give a new proof of the Zheng-Xu He's result asserting that any module of a ring has a unique up to isomorphism injective-costable decomposition if and only if the ring is left hereditary and left Noetherian. The above-mentioned statements, in particular, imply that if the category of left modules over a left hereditary ring is Krull-Schmidt, then the ring is left Artinian. Yet another criterion for a ring to be left hereditary, left perfect and right coherent (resp. left hereditary left Noetherian) found in the paper requires that the pair $(Stable$ $modules$, $Projective$ $modules)$ (resp. $(Injective$ $Modules, Costable$ $ Modules)$) of module classes be a pre-torsion theory. This implies that the pair $(Stable$ $modules$, $Projective$ $modules)$ is a torsion theory if and only if the ring is left hereditary and the injective envelope of the ring, viewed as a left module over itself, is projective.

Abstract:The model-theoretic Grothendieck ring of a first order structure, as defined by Krajicěk and Scanlon, captures some combinatorial properties of the definable subsets of finite powers of the structure. In this paper we compute the Grothendieck ring, K0(MR), of a right R-module M, where R is any unital ring. As a corollary we prove a conjecture of Prest that K0(MR) is non-trivial, whenever M is non-zero. The main proof uses various techniques from simplicial homology and lattice theory to construct certain counting functions.

Abstract:In the present paper we prove that Hall polynomial exists for each triple of decomposition sequences which parameterize isomorphism classes of coherent sheaves of a domestic weighted projective line X over finite fields. These polynomials are then used to define the generic Ringel–Hall algebra of X as well as its Drinfeld double. Combining this construction with a result of Cramer, we show that Hall polynomials exist for tame quivers, which not only refines a result of Hubery, but also confirms a conjecture of Berenstein and Greenstein.

On split quasi-hereditary covers and Ringel duality

Abstract:In this paper, we develop two new homological invariants called relative dominant dimension with respect to a module and relative codominant dimension with respect to a module. These are used to establish precise connections between Ringel duality, split quasi-hereditary covers and double centraliser properties. These homological invariants are studied over Noetherian algebras which are finitely generated and projective as a module over the ground ring and they are shown to behave nicely under change of rings techniques. It turns out that relative codominant dimension with respect to a summand of a characteristic tilting module is a useful tool to construct quasi-hereditary covers of Noetherian algebras and measure their quality. In particular, this homological invariant is used to construct split quasi-hereditary covers of quotients of Iwahori-Hecke algebras using Ringel duality of $q$-Schur algebras. Combining techniques of cover theory with relative dominant dimension theory we obtain a new proof for Ringel self-duality of the blocks of the Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand category $\mathcal{O}$.

Abstract:We extend the classical notion of standardly stratified $k$-algebra (stated for finite dimensional $k$-algebras) to the more general class of rings, possibly without $1,$ with enough idempotents. We show that many of the fundamental results, which are known for classical standardly stratified algebras, can be generalized to this context. Furthermore, new classes of rings appear as: ideally standardly stratified and ideally quasi-hereditary. In the classical theory, it is known that quasi-hereditary and ideally quasi-hereditary algebras are equivalent notions, but in our general setting this is no longer true. To develop the theory, we use the well known connection between rings with enough idempotents and skeletally small categories (ringoids or rings with several objects).

Abstract:We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for graded standardly stratified algebras (in the sense of Cline, Parshall and Scott) admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and proper costandard modules. We single out a certain class of graded standardly stratified algebras imposing the condition that standard filtrations of projective modules are finite, and develop the tilting theory for such algebras. Under the assumption of existence of linear tilting (co)resolutions we show that algebras from this class are Koszul, that both Ringel and Koszul duals belong to the class, and that these two dualities on this class commute.

Abstract:Given a graded ample, Hausdorff groupoid $G$, and an involutive field $K$, we consider the Steinberg algebra $A_K(G)$. We obtain necessary and sufficient conditions on $G$ under which the annihilator of any graded ideal of $A_K(G)$ is generated by a homogeneous projection. This property is called graded quasi-Baer $\ast$. We use the Steinberg algebra model to characterize graded quasi-Baer $\ast$ Leavitt path algebras.

Erdmann classified the symmetric $\mathbf{k}$-algebras $\Lambda$ of finite representation type such that every non-projective module $M$ has period dividing four. The goal of this paper is to determine the indecomposable modules $M$ over these class of algebras $\Lambda$ whose stable endomorphism ring is isomorphic to $\mathbf{k}$, and then calculate their corresponding universal deformation rings (in the sense of F.
