Abstract:Generally the adiabatic quantum pumping phenomenon can be interpreted by the surface integral of the Berry curvature inside the cyclic loop. Spin angular momentum flow without charge current can be pumped out by magnetization precession in ferromagnet-based structures. When an electron is scattered by a helimagnet, spin-dependent diffraction occurs due to the spatial modulation of the spiral. In this work, we consider the charge and spin flow driven by magnetization precession in normal-metal/multiferroic-helimagnet/ferromagnet heterostructures. The pumping behavior is governed by the diffracted states. Gauge dependence in the pumped current was encountered, which does not occur in the static transport properties or pumping behaviors in other systems.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to study the adiabatic pumping behavior of charge and spin currents driven by ferromagnetic magnetization precession in normal - metal/multiferroic helimagnet/ferromagnet (NM/MF/FM) heterostructures. Specifically, the authors focus on: 1. **Diffraction effects caused by spatial modulation**: Since the spin - spiral structure in the helimagnet is spatially modulated, electrons will undergo spin - dependent diffraction when passing through this structure. The influence of this diffraction effect on the transmission spectrum has not been fully studied. 2. **Gauge - dependence of the pumping current**: Normally, the pumping current in the quantum pumping phenomenon does not depend on the specific gauge chosen. However, in the system studied in this paper, due to the special properties of spatial inhomogeneity and time - dependent parameters, the pumping current shows obvious gauge - dependence. This is different from the traditional static transport properties and the pumping behavior of other systems. 3. **Revealing the unknown properties of new magnetic structures**: By studying this special pumping behavior, the physical properties of new magnetic structures such as multiferroic helimagnets, domain walls, and skyrmion lattices can be better understood. ### Specific problem description - **Spin - dependent diffraction caused by spatial inhomogeneity**: When electrons are scattered by the helimagnet, spin - dependent diffraction will occur due to the spatial modulation of the helix. How this diffraction affects the transport of charge and spin currents is a key issue. - **Gauge - dependence of the pumping current**: In traditional systems, the pumping current is usually gauge - invariant. But in the system studied in this paper, due to the special nature of spatial inhomogeneity and time - dependent parameters, the pumping current shows gauge - dependence. What is the physical mechanism of this dependence? - **Theoretical model and numerical simulation**: In order to understand the above phenomena, the authors established a detailed theoretical model and carried out numerical simulations. The model includes Hamiltonians of different layers, scattering matrices, transmission coefficients, etc., and the theoretical predictions were verified by numerical calculations. ### Conclusion Through research, the authors found that: - The spatially - modulated helimagnet structure does lead to spin - dependent diffraction, thus affecting the transmission spectrum. - The gauge - dependence of the pumping current is the result of the combined action of the special properties of spatial inhomogeneity and time - dependent parameters. - These results provide a new perspective for understanding the physical properties of multiferroic helimagnets and other new magnetic structures. These findings not only help to deeply understand the quantum pumping phenomenon, but also provide a theoretical basis for the development of new applications based on spintronics.
