Abstract:We present the application of a novel reduction technique for one-loop scattering amplitudes based on the combination of the integrand reduction and Laurent expansion. We describe the general features of its implementation in the computer code NINJA, and its interface to GoSam. We apply the new reduction to a series of selected processes involving massive particles, from six to eight legs.

Abstract:Building on the open-loop algorithm we introduce a new method for the automated construction of one-loop amplitudes and their reduction to scalar integrals. The key idea is that the factorisation of one-loop integrands in a product of loop segments makes it possible to perform various operations on-the-fly while constructing the integrand. Reducing the integrand on-the-fly, after each segment multiplication, the construction of loop diagrams and their reduction are unified in a single numerical recursion. In this way we entirely avoid objects with high tensor rank, thereby reducing the complexity of the calculations in a drastic way. Thanks to the on-the-fly approach, which is applied also to helicity summation and for the merging of different diagrams, the speed of the original open-loop algorithm can be further augmented in a very significant way. Moreover, addressing spurious singularities of the employed reduction identities by means of simple expansions in rank-two Gram determinants, we achieve a remarkably high level of numerical stability. These features of the new algorithm, which will be made publicly available in a forthcoming release of the OpenLoops program, are particularly attractive for NLO multi-leg and NNLO real-virtual calculations.

Efficiently and easily integrating differential equations with JiTCODE, JiTCDDE, and JiTCSDE

Abstract:We present a family of Python modules for the numerical integration of ordinary, delay, or stochastic differential equations. The key features are that the user enters the derivative symbolically and it is just-in-time-compiled, allowing the user to efficiently integrate differential equations from a higher-level interpreted language. The presented modules are particularly suited for large systems of differential equations such as those used to describe dynamics on complex networks. Through the selected method of input, the presented modules also allow almost complete automatization of the process of estimating regular as well as transversal Lyapunov exponents for ordinary and delay differential equations. We conceptually discuss the modules' design, analyze their performance, and demonstrate their capabilities by application to timely problems.

Abstract:We present an optimization of the reduction algorithm of one-loop amplitudes in terms of master integrals. It is based on the exploitation of the polynomial structure of the integrand when evaluated at values of the loop-momentum fulfilling multiple cut-conditions, as emerged in the OPP-method. The reconstruction of the polynomials, needed for the complete reduction, is rended very versatile by using a projection-technique based on the Discrete Fourier Transform. The novel implementation is applied in the context of the NLO QCD corrections to u d-bar --> W+ W- W+.

Abstract:The reduction of Feynman integrals to a basis of linearly independent master integrals is a pivotal step in loop calculations, but also one of the main bottlenecks. In this paper, we assess the impact of using transverse integration identities for the reduction to master integrals. Given an integral family, some of its sectors correspond to diagrams with fewer external legs or to diagrams that can be factorized as products of lower-loop integrals. Using transverse integration identities, i.e. a tensor decomposition in the subspace that is transverse to the external momenta of the diagrams, one can map integrals belonging to such sectors and their subsectors to (products of) integrals belonging to new and simpler integral families, characterized by either fewer generalized denominators, fewer external invariants, fewer loops or combinations thereof. Integral reduction is thus drastically simpler for these new families. We describe a proof-of-concept implementation of the application of transverse integration identities in the context of integral reduction. We include some applications to cutting-edge integral families, showing significant improvements over traditional algorithms.

Abstract:This paper introduces an efficient tensor-vector product technique for the rapid and accurate approximation of integral operators within physics-informed deep learning frameworks. Our approach leverages neural network architectures to evaluate problem dynamics at specific points, while employing Gaussian quadrature formulas to approximate the integral components, even in the presence of infinite domains or singularities. We demonstrate the applicability of this method to both Fredholm and Volterra integral operators, as well as to optimal control problems involving continuous time. Additionally, we outline how this approach can be extended to approximate fractional derivatives and integrals and propose a fast matrix-vector product algorithm for efficiently computing the fractional Caputo derivative. In the numerical section, we conduct comprehensive experiments on forward and inverse problems. For forward problems, we evaluate the performance of our method on over 50 diverse mathematical problems, including multi-dimensional integral equations, systems of integral equations, partial and fractional integro-differential equations, and various optimal control problems in delay, fractional, multi-dimensional, and nonlinear configurations. For inverse problems, we test our approach on several integral equations and fractional integro-differential problems. Finally, we introduce the pinnies Python package to facilitate the implementation and usability of the proposed method.

Abstract:As a key method to deal with loop integrals, Integration-By-Parts (IBP) method can be used to do reduction as well as establish the differential equations for master integrals. However, when talking about tensor reduction, the Passarino-Veltman (PV) reduction method is also widely used for one-loop integrals. Recently, we have proposed an improved PV reduction method, i.e., the PV reduction method with auxiliary vector R, which can easily give analytical reduction results for any tensor rank. However, our results are only for integrals with propagators with power one. In this paper, we generalize our method to one-loop integrals with general tensor structures and propagators with general powers. Our ideas are simple. We solve the generalised reduction problem by combining differentiation over masses and proper limit of reduction with power-one propagators. Finally, we demonstrate our method with several examples. With the result in this paper, we have shown that our improved PV-reduction method with auxiliary vector is a self-completed reduction method for one-loop integrals.

Abstract:The 2008 NRDA conference introduced the Numerical INJection Analysis project (NINJA), a new collaborative effort between the numerical relativity community and the data analysis community. NINJA focuses on modeling and searching for gravitational wave signatures from the coalescence of binary system of compact objects. We review the scope of this collaboration and the components of the first NINJA project, where numerical relativity groups shared waveforms and data analysis teams applied various techniques to detect them when embedded in colored Gaussian noise.

Abstract:Higher transcendental function occur frequently in the calculation of Feynman integrals in quantum field theory. Their expansion in a small parameter is a non-trivial task. We report on a computer program which allows the systematic expansion of certain classes of functions. The algorithms are based on the Hopf algebra of nested sums. The program is written in C++ and uses the GiNaC library.

Abstract:Intersection numbers are rational scalar products among functions that admit suitable integral representations, such as Feynman integrals. Using these scalar products, the decomposition of Feynman integrals into a basis of linearly independent master integrals is reduced to a projection. We present a new method for computing intersection numbers that only uses rational operations and does not require any integral transformation or change of basis. We achieve this by systematically employing the polynomial series expansion, namely the expansion of functions in powers of a polynomial. We also introduce a new prescription for choosing dual integrals, de facto removing the explicit dependence on additional analytic regulators in the computation of intersection numbers. We describe a proof-of-concept implementation of the algorithm over finite fields and its application to the decomposition of Feynman integrals at one and two loops.

Abstract:Fast and accurate numerical integration always represented a bottleneck in high-performance computational physics, especially in large and multiscale industrial simulations involving Finite (FEM) and Boundary Element Methods (BEM). The computational demand escalates significantly in problems modelled by irregular or endpoint singular behaviours which can be approximated with generalised polynomials of real degree. This is due to both the practical limitations of finite-arithmetic computations and the inefficient samples distribution of traditional Gaussian quadrature rules. We developed a non-iterative mathematical software implementing an innovative numerical quadrature which largely enhances the precision of Gauss-Legendre formulae (G-L) for integrands modelled as generalised polynomial with the optimal amount of nodes and weights capable of guaranteeing the required numerical precision. This methodology avoids to resort to more computationally expensive techniques such as adaptive or composite quadrature rules. From a theoretical point of view, the numerical method underlying this work was preliminary presented in [1] by constructing the monomial transformation itself and providing all the necessary conditions to ensure the numerical stability and exactness of the quadrature up to machine precision. The novel contribution of this work concerns the optimal implementation of said method, the extension of its applicability at run-time with different type of inputs, the provision of additional insights on its functionalities and its straightforward implementation, in particular FEM applications or other mathematical software either as an external tool or embedded suite. The open-source, cross-platform C++ library Monomial Transformation Quadrature Rule (MTQR) has been designed to be highly portable, fast and easy to integrate in larger codebases. Numerical examples in multiple physical applications showcase the improved efficiency and accuracy when compared to traditional schemes. However by precisely manipulating the G-L samples using an ad-hoc monomial transformation we achieve a one-shot, non-iterative, machine-precise quadrature rule with straightforward scalability in higher dimensions. The advantages brought by a non-adaptive technique are greatly emphasized whenever the problem on hand is characterised by a numerous set of integrand functions that behave similarly to sets of generalised polynomials. Solution method: The underlying algorithm is an application of a monomial transformation of (real) order to the nmin∈N quadrature samples (nodes and weights) of the G-L rule. The order of the transformation depends on the infimum (λmin) and supremum (λmax) of the Müntz sequence of real degrees of the integrands modelled by generalised polynomials. With an a-priori full analysis of the set of integrands to be integrated, the design and the action of such transformation ensures that the bounding monomials are integrated with machine-epsilon precision in double floating-point (f.p.) format [2] without resorting to less efficient schemes as adaptive or composite quadrature rules, singularity subtraction and cancellation methods with limited and uncontrolled precision. The effects of the action of the monomial transformation onto the original G-L samples is clearly visible by the clustering of the nodes around the endpoint singularity of the integrand function (see Figure 1.2 of the user manual shipped with the source code and located in the MTQR/doc sub-directory as indic -Abstract Truncated-

Expansion by regions meets angular integrals

Abstract:We study the small-mass asymptotic behavior of so-called angular integrals, appearing in phase-space calculations in perturbative quantum field theory. For this purpose we utilize the strategy of expansion by regions, which is a universal method both for multiloop Feynman integrals and various parametric integrals. To apply the technique to angular integrals, we convert them into suitable parametric integral representations, which are accessible to existing automation tools. We use the the code \texttt{asy.m} to reveal regions contributing to the asymptotic expansion of angular integrals. To evaluate the contributions of these regions in an epsilon expansion we apply the method of Mellin-Barnes representation. Our approach is checked against existing results on angular integrals revealing a connection between contributing regions and angular integrals constructed from an algebraic decomposition. We explicitly calculate the previously unknown asymptotics for angular integrals with three and four denominators and formulate a conjecture for the leading asymptotics and the pole part for a general number of denominators and masses.

Abstract:We report on an implementation within GiNaC to evaluate iterated integrals related to elliptic Feynman integrals numerically to arbitrary precision within the region of convergence of the series expansion of the integrand. The implementation includes iterated integrals of modular forms as well as iterated integrals involving the Kronecker coefficient functions g ( k ) ( z , τ ) . For the Kronecker coefficient functions iterated integrals in dτ and dz are implemented. This includes elliptic multiple polylogarithms. Abstract:This paper describes Nancy, a Network Calculus (NC) library that allows users to perform complex min-plus and max-plus algebra operations efficiently. To the best of our knowledge, Nancy is the only open-source library that implements operations working on arbitrary piecewise affine functions, as well as to implement some of them (e.g. sub-additive closure and function composition). Nancy allows researchers to compute NC results using a straightforward syntax, which matches the algebraic one. Moreover, it is designed having computational efficiency in mind: it exploits optimizations of data structures, it uses inheritance to allow for faster algorithms when they are available (e.g., for specific subclasses of functions), and it is natively parallel, thus reaping the benefit of multicore hardware. This makes it usable to solve NC problems which were previously considered beyond the realm of tractable.

Abstract:We study a neural network framework for the numerical evaluation of Feynman loop integrals that are fundamental building blocks for perturbative computations of physical observables in gauge and gravity theories. We show that such a machine learning approach improves the convergence of the Monte Carlo algorithm for high-precision evaluation of multi-dimensional integrals compared to traditional algorithms. In particular, we use a neural network to improve the importance sampling. For a set of representative integrals appearing in the computation of the conservative dynamics for a compact binary system in General Relativity, we perform a quantitative comparison between the Monte Carlo integrators VEGAS and i-flow, an integrator based on neural network sampling.

Abstract:: Recently a nice work about the understanding of one-loop integrals has been done in [1] using the tricks of the projective space language associated to their Feynman parametrization. We ﬁnd this language is also very suitable to deal with the reduction problem of one-loop integrals with general tensor structures as well as propagators with arbitrary higher powers. In this paper, we show that how to combine Feynman parametrization and embedding formalism to give a universal treatment of reductions for general one-loop integrals, even including the degenerated cases, such as the vanishing Gram determinant. Results from this method can be written in a compact and symmetric form.
A Toolbox for Fast Interval Arithmetic in numpy with an Application to Formal Verification of Neural Network Controlled Systems

Abstract:In this paper, we present a toolbox for interval analysis in numpy, with an application to formal verification of neural network controlled systems. Using the notion of natural inclusion functions, we systematically construct interval bounds for a general class of mappings. The toolbox offers efficient computation of natural inclusion functions using compiled C code, as well as a familiar interface in numpy with its canonical features, such as n-dimensional arrays, matrix/vector operations, and vectorization. We then use this toolbox in formal verification of dynamical systems with neural network controllers, through the composition of their inclusion functions.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a uniform formula that can iteratively reduce all auxiliary scalar product numerators of arbitrary multi-loop Feynman integrals. Integrals with such numerators commonly appear in Integration-By-Parts (IBP) relations. This formula is constructed with the generalized Sylvester's determinant identity. Compared to that using only traditional IBP reduction method, the combination of the formula and the traditional IBP method shows a significant speed-up.
