Abstract:This article concerns the Lp Minkowski problem for q-capacity. We consider the case p >= 1 and 1 < q < nin the smooth category by a kind of curvature flow, which converges smoothly to the solution of a Monge-Amp & eacute;re type equation. We show the existence of smooth solution to the problem for p >= n. We also provide a proof for the weak solution to the problem when p >= 1, which has been obtained by Zou and Xiong.

Abstract:In this paper, considering a real Banach sequence lattice Y instead of a Lebesgue sequence space $l_p$ we generalize p-convexity of a linear operator $T:E\to X$, where E is a Banach space and X is a Banach lattice. Then we prove that basic properties of p-convexity remain valid for Y-convex linear operators. Analogous generalizations are given for q-concavity and p-summability and composition properties between these operators are analyzed.

Abstract:In this paper, the following quantum-logic valued measure convergence theorem is proved: Let (L1, 0, 1) be a Boolean algebra, (L2, ⊥, ⊕, 0, 1) be a quantum logic and {μ n : n ∈ N} be a sequence of s-bounded (L2, ⊥, ⊕, 0, 1)-valued measures which are defined on (L1, 0, 1). If for each a ∈ (L1, 0, 1), {μ n (a)}n ∈ N is an order topology $\tau_{0}^{L_2}$ Cauchy sequence, when {v(a)} convergent to 0, {μ n (a)} is order topology $\tau_{0}^{L_2}$ convergent to 0 for each n ∈ N, where v is a nonnegative finite additive measure which is defined on (L1, 0, 1), then when {v(a)} convergent to 0, {μ n (a)} are order topology $\tau_{0}^{L_2}$ convergent to 0 uniformly with respect to n ∈ N.

Abstract:A characterization of unconditional convergent series is given for the case of sequentially complete locally convex spaces. From it we show that if E is a barrelled space with continuous dual E', then (E', beta(E', E)) contains no copy of (c(0), parallel to.parallel to(infinity)) if and only if every continuous linear operator T : E --> l(1) is both compact and sequentially compact.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the geometric properties of the variable mixed Lebesgue-sequence space $\ell^{q(\cdot)} (L^{p(\cdot)})$ as a Banach space. We show that, if $ 1<q_-,p_-,q_+,p_+<\infty $, then $\ell^{q(\cdot)} (L^{p(\cdot)})$ is strictly and uniformly convex. We also prove that when $ 1\le q_-,p_-,q_+,p_+<\infty, $ the convergence in norm implies the convergence in measure, and under some conditions on exponents, the approximation identity holds in the space $ \ell^1(L^{\frac{p(\cdot)}{q(\cdot)}}) $.

Abstract:Consider a measurable space with a finite vector measure. This measure defines a mapping of the $\sigma$-field into a Euclidean space. According to Lyapunov's convexity theorem, the range of this mapping is compact and, if the measure is atomless, this range is convex. Similar ranges are also defined for measurable subsets of the space. We show that the union of the ranges of all subsets having the same given vector measure is also compact and, if the measure is atomless, it is convex. We further provide a geometrically constructed convex compactum in the Euclidean space that contains this union. The equality of these two sets, that holds for two-dimensional measures, can be violated in higher dimensions.

Abstract:For a general infinite system of convex inequalities in a Banach space, we study the basic constraint qualification and its relationship with other fundamental concepts, including various versions of conditions of Slater type, the Mangasarian--Fromovitz constraint qualification, as well as the Pshenichnyi--Levin--Valadier property introduced by Li, Nahak, and Singer. Applications are given in the restricted range approximation problem, constrained optimization problems, as well as in the approximation problem with constraints by conditionally positive semidefinite functions.

Abstract:We present some sufficient conditions ensuring the upper semicontinuity and the continuity of the Bregman projection operator ΠCg and the relative projection operator PCg in terms of the D-approximate (weak) compactness for a nonempty closed set C in a Banach space X. We next present certain sufficient conditions as well as equivalent conditions for the convexity of a Chebyshev subset of a Banach space X. Our results extend the corresponding results of [H.H. Bauschke, X.F. Wang, J. Ye and X. M. Yuan, Bregman distances and Chebyshev sets, J. Approx. Theory 159 (2009) 3–25] to infinite dimensional spaces.

Abstract:Using the error bound results established in the present paper for approximate solutions, we study the stability issues when perturbed by possibly nonaffine smooth maps E for the abstract inequality system F >=(K) 0 defined by a (possible nonclosed) convex cone K and a Frechet differentiable function F satisfying the (extended) weak gamma-condition. We provide some sufficient conditions, in terms of the information at a solution x(0), for ensuring the lower semicontinuity and/or the Lipschitz-like continuity at x(0) of the solution mapping for the perturbed system F + E >=(K) 0 with smooth perturbation E. Explicit upper bounds of the Lipschitz-like moduli are also provided.

Abstract:In this paper we study the Y-convexity, a property which is obtained by considering a real Banach sequence lattice Y instead of $\ell^p$ for a linear operator $T : E \rightarrow X$, where E is a Banach space and X is a Banach lattice. We introduce some vector sequence spaces in order to characterize the Y-convexity of T by means of the continuity of an associated operator $\overline{T}$. Analogous results for Y-concavity are also obtained. Finally, the duality between Y-convexity and $Y^{\times}$-concavity is proven.

Abstract:In this paper we collect several examples of convergence of functions of random processes to generalized functionals of those processes. We remark that the limit is always finitely absolutely continuous with respect to Wiener measure. We try to unify those examples in terms of convergence of probability measures in Banach spaces. The key notion is the condition of uniform finite absolute continuity.

Abstract:Stochastic convergence of discrete time Markov processes has been analysed based on a dual Lyapunov approach. Using some existing results on ergodic theory of Markov processes, it has been shown that existence of a properly subinvariant function (counterpart of the Lyapunov density in deterministic systems) implies sweeping of a Markov process out of the sets where this function is integrable. Such a function can be used as a certificate of convergence in probability of a stochastic system. We apply this technique to Markov processes induced by a quantum system with non-demolition measurement and propose dual Lyapunov certificates to certify sweeping.

Abstract:It is shown that, if nu >= 1/2 then the generalized Marcum Q function Q_nu(a, b) is log-concave in 0<=b <infty. This proves a conjecture of Sun, Baricz and Zhou (2010). We also point out relevant results in the statistics literature.

Abstract:We prove an analogue of Yau's Caccioppoli-type inequality for nonnegative subharmonic functions on graphs. We then obtain a Liouville theorem for harmonic or non-negative subharmonic functions of class Lq, 1<=q<∞, on any graph, and a quantitative version for q > 1. Abstract:In this paper, we study the Lévy-Milman concentration phenomenon of 1-Lipschitz maps into infinite dimensional metric spaces. Our main theorem asserts that the concentration to an infinite dimensional $\ell^p$-ball with the $\ell^q$-distance function for $1\leq p<q\leq +\infty$ is equivalent to the concentration to the real line.
