Abstract:We prove in this paper the original version of Kontsevich and Soibelman's motivic integral identity conjecture for formal functions by developing a novel framework for equivariant motivic integration on special rigid varieties. This theory is built upon our recent research on equivariant motivic integration within the realm of special formal schemes. The central element of our approach lies in demonstrating that two formal models of a given smooth rigid variety can be dominated by a third formal model. Notably, a similar assertion for quasi-compact rigid varieties was obtained by Bosch, Lütkebohmert, and Raynaud in 1993. Consequently, we establish a concept of motivic volume for a special smooth rigid variety, ensuring independence from the selection of its models. We demonstrate that this motivic volume can be extended to a homomorphism from a certain Grothendieck ring of special smooth rigid varieties to the classical Grothendieck ring of varieties. Moreover, our developed motivic volume exhibits a Fubini-type property, which recovers Nicaise and Payne's motivic Fubini theorem for the tropicalization map.

Abstract:Inspired by p-adic (and real) principal value integrals, we introduce motivic principal value integrals associated to multi-valued rational differential forms on smooth algebraic varieties. We investigate the natural question whether (for complete varieties) this notion is a birational invariant. The answer seems to be related to the dichotomy of the Minimal Model Program.

Abstract:The integral identity conjecture of Kontsevich and Soibelman plays an important role in proving the existence of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants for three-dimensional noncommutative Calabi-Yau manifolds. There are a number of different formulations of this conjecture in different contexts and accordingly, there are corresponding solutions to them. The methods devoted to solving this conjecture are diverse, ranging from $\ell$-adic cohomology of rigid analytic varieties to Hrushovski-Kazhdan motivic integration and motivic Fubini theorem for tropicalization maps,... In a recent work, Ivorra deduces a functorial version of the integral identity in the stable homotopy of schemes, from the Braden hyperbolic localization theorem. This functorial version concerns Ayoub's nearby cycles functor associated with a $\mathbb{G}_m$-equivariant function $f \colon X \longrightarrow \mathbb{A}^1$ on vector bundles with a linear action of $\mathbb{G}_m$ on algebraic varieties over a field of characteristic zero. In the present work, we follow the functorial approach by Ivorra and extend the scope of the original conjecture by Kontsevich and Soibelman by studying more generally the case of $\mathbb{G}_m$-equivariant functions on algebraic $S$-spaces with a $\tau$-locally linearizable action of $\mathbb{G}_m$ over a noetherian scheme $S$ and extend the functorial integral identity to these cases. Our result is functorial, it allows more flexibity on the characteristic of the base scheme and the formulation exists in the world of motives which can realizes to other settings, e.g., étale realization, Betti realization, virtual motives... We also prove a result which is independent of interest and already appears in the work of others, namely, the motivic version of the functorial compatibility of the Bernstein isomorphisms with constant term functors.

Motivic integration on Berkovich spaces

Abstract:We define a motivic measure on the Berkovich analytification of an algebraic variety defined over a trivially valued field, and introduce motivic integration in this setting. The construction is geometric with a similar spirit as Kontsevich's original definition, and leads to the formulation of a functorial theory which mirrors, in this aspect, the approach of Cluckers and Loeser via constructibe motivic functions. A version of the integral over nontrivially valued fields and its relation to Hrushovski and Kazhdan's integration are also discussed.

Abstract:In this article we review the Duistermaat-Heckman integration formula and the ensuing equivariant cohomology structure, in the finite dimensional case. In particular, we discuss the connection between equivariant cohomology and classical integrability. We also explain how the integration formula is derived, and explore some possible new directions that could eventually yield novel integration formulas for nontrivial integrable models.

Abstract:We develop a new method to study intersection theory of the main component of the Hilbert scheme of points on complex manifolds. The main result is an iterated residue formula for tautological integrals. We formulate a Chern-Segre-type positivity conjecture for these integrals, and we introduce higher dimensional Segre and Chern integrals.

Noncommutative Motives I: A Universal Characterization of the Motivic Stable Homotopy Theory of Schemes

Abstract:Let $\V$ be a symmetric monoidal model category and let $X$ be an object in $\V$. From this we can construct a new symmetric monoidal model category $Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$ of symmetric spectra objects in $\V$ with respect to $X$, together with a left Quillen monoidal map $\V\to Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$ sending $X$ to an invertible object. In this paper we use the recent developments in the subject of Higher Algebra to understand the nature of this construction. Every symmetric monoidal model category has an underlying symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-category and the first notion should be understood as a mere "presentation" of the second. Our main result is the characterization of the underlying symmetric monoidal $\infty$-category of $Sp^{\Sigma}(\V,X)$, by means of a universal property inside the world of symmetric monoidal $(\infty,1)$-categories. In the process we also describe the link between the construction of ordinary spectra and the one of symmetric spectra. As a corollary, we obtain a precise universal characterization for the motivic stable homotopy theory of schemes with its symmetric monoidal structure. This characterization trivializes the problem of finding motivic monoidal realizations and opens the way to compare the motivic theory of schemes with other motivic theories. As an application we provide a new approach to the theory of noncommutative motives by constructing a stable motivic homotopy theory for the noncommutative spaces of Kontsevich. For that we introduce an analogue for the Nisnevich topology in the noncommutative setting. Our universal property for the classical theory for schemes provides a canonical monoidal map towards these new noncommutative motives and allows us to compare the two theories.

Abstract:We construct integral models for moduli spaces of shtukas with deep Bruhat-Tits level structures. We embed the moduli space of global shtukas for a deep Bruhat-Tits group scheme into the limit of the moduli spaces of shtukas for all associated parahoric group schemes. Its schematic image defines an integral model of the moduli space of shtukas with deep Bruhat-Tits level with favourable properties: They admit proper, surjective and generically étale level maps as well as a natural Newton stratification. In the Drinfeld case, this general construction of integral models recovers the moduli space of Drinfeld shtukas with Drinfeld level structures.

Abstract:For noetherian schemes of finite dimension over a field of characteristic exponent $p$, we study the triangulated categories of $\mathbf{Z}[1/p]$-linear mixed motives obtained from cdh-sheaves with transfers. We prove that these have many of the expected properties. In particular, the formalism of the six operations holds in this context. When we restrict ourselves to regular schemes, we also prove that these categories of motives are equivalent to the more classical triangulated categories of mixed motives constructed in terms of Nisnevich sheaves with transfers. Such a program is achieved by comparing these various triangulated categories of motives with modules over motivic Eilenberg-MacLane spectra.

Abstract:For each configuration of rational points on the affine line, we define an operation on the group of unstable A1 motivic homotopy classes of endomorphisms of the projective line. We also derive an algebraic formula for the image of such an operation under Cazanave and Morel's unstable degree map, which is valued in an extension of the Grothendieck--Witt group. In contrast to the topological setting, these operations depend on the choice of configuration of points via a discriminant. We prove this by first showing a local-to-global formula for the global unstable degree as a modified sum of local terms. We then use an anabelian argument to generalize from the case of local degrees of a global rational function to the case of an arbitrary collection of endomorphisms of the projective line.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is to raise the possibility that there exists a meaningful theory of `motives' associated to certain hypergeometric integrals, viewed as functions of their parameters. It goes beyond the classical theory of motives, but should be compatible with it. Such a theory would explain a recent and surprising conjecture arising in the context of scattering amplitudes for a motivic Galois group action on Gauss' ${}_2F_1$ hypergeometric function, which we prove in this paper by direct means. More generally, we consider Lauricella hypergeometric functions and show on the one hand how the coefficients in their Taylor expansions can be promoted, via the theory of motivic fundamental groups, to motivic multiple polylogarithms. The latter are periods of ordinary motives and admit an action of the usual motivic Galois group, which we call the `local' action. On the other hand, we define lifts of the full Lauricella functions as matrix coefficients in a Tannakian category of twisted cohomology, which inherit an action of the corresponding Tannaka group. We call this the `global' action. We prove that these two actions, local and global, are compatible with each other, even though they are defined in completely different ways. The main technical tool is to prove that metabelian quotients of generalised Drinfeld associators on the punctured Riemann sphere are hypergeometric functions. We also study single-valued versions of these hypergeometric functions, which may be of independent interest.

A Proof of the Integral Identity via Braden's Theorem

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to provide a very short proof of a generalized categorified version, within the motivic stable homotopy category of Morel and Voevodsky, of the integral identity for virtual motives conjectured by Kontsevich and Soibelman. Our proof is an application of an important result in geometric representation theory due to Braden and known as the hyperbolic localization/restriction theorem. Though originally proved in the context of etale sheaves (or sheaves on the associated complex analytic space in the case of complex algebraic varieties) Braden's theorem turns out to hold also in the context of motivic sheaves, at least in the special case of vector bundles with a linear G_m-action.

Abstract:We introduce a simple procedure to integrate differential forms with arbitrary holomorphic poles on Riemann surfaces. It gives rise to an intrinsic regularization of such singular integrals in terms of the underlying conformal geometry. Applied to products of Riemann surfaces, this regularization scheme establishes an analytic theory for integrals over configuration spaces, including Feynman graph integrals arising from two dimensional chiral quantum field theories. Specializing to elliptic curves, we show such regularized graph integrals are almost-holomorphic modular forms that geometrically provide modular completions of the corresponding ordered A-cycle integrals.

Abstract:We categorify the inclusion–exclusion principle for partially ordered topological spaces and schemes to a filtration on the derived category of sheaves. As a consequence, we obtain functorial spectral sequences that generalize the two spectral sequences of a stratified space and certain Vassiliev-type spectral sequences; we also obtain Euler characteristic analogs in the Grothendieck ring of varieties. As an application, we give an algebro-geometric proof of Vakil and Wood's homological stability conjecture for the space of smooth hypersurface sections of a smooth projective variety. In characteristic zero this conjecture was previously established by Aumonier via topological methods.

Abstract:The main purpose of this paper is to investigate commuting flows and integrable systems on the configuration spaces of planar linkages. Our study leads to the definition of a natural volume form on each configuration space of planar linkages, the notion of cross products of integrable systems, and also the notion of multi-Nambu integrable systems.
