Abstract:We investigate the squeezing for a movable mirror in the dissipative optomechanics in which the oscillating mirror modulates both the resonance frequency and the linewidth of the cavity mode. Via feeding a much weaker broadband squeezed vacuum light accompanying the coherent driving laser field into the cavity, the master equation for the cavity-mirror system is derived by following the general reservoir theory based on the density operator in which the reservoir variables are adiabatically eliminated by using the reduced density operator for the system in the interaction picture. When the mirror is weakly coupled to the cavity mode, we find that under the conditions of laser cooling to the ground state, the driven cavity field can effectively perform as a squeezed vacuum reservoir for the movable mirror via utilizing the completely destructive interference of quantum noise, and thus the efficient transfer of squeezing from the light to the movable mirror occurs, which is irrespective of the ratio between the cavity damping rate and the mechanical frequency. When the mirror is moderately coupled to the cavity mode, the photonic excitation can preclude the completely destructive interference of quantum noise, and as a consequence, the mirror deviates from the ideal squeezed state.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to achieve the generation of squeezed states of a movable mirror in a dissipative optomechanical system. Specifically, the authors studied how, in a dissipative optomechanical environment, when the movable mirror is weakly coupled to the cavity mode, by using broadband squeezed vacuum light and a coherent driving laser field, the driving cavity field can effectively act as a squeezed - vacuum reservoir, thereby achieving an effective squeezed - state transfer from light to the movable mirror. In addition, when the mirror is moderately coupled to the cavity mode, photon excitation will hinder the complete destructive interference of quantum noise, causing the mirror to deviate from the ideal squeezed state. The paper also explored how to improve the mechanical squeezing performance by eliminating the optically - induced heating process in the non - sideband - resolved limit. ### Main Problems and Goals 1. **Squeezed - State Generation**: - Research how to achieve the generation of squeezed states of a movable mirror through an engineered reservoir in a dissipative optomechanical system. - Explore the generation mechanism and performance of squeezed states under weakly - coupled and moderately - coupled conditions. 2. **Cooling and Squeezing**: - Analyze how, under weakly - coupled conditions, the movable mirror can reach the ground - state motion through laser cooling, and on this basis, achieve an efficient transfer of the squeezed state. - Explore the influence of photon excitation on the complete destructive interference of quantum noise under moderately - coupled conditions, and how this affects the generation of squeezed states. 3. **Performance Improvement in the Non - sideband - Resolved Limit**: - Research how, in the non - sideband - resolved limit, by eliminating the optically - induced heating process, the mechanical squeezing performance can be improved. ### Methods and Techniques 1. **System Description**: - Use an effective Fabry - Perot interferometer (FPI) model, which contains a movable ideal end - mirror. - Consider the dispersive and dissipative couplings between the cavity field and the movable mirror. 2. **Dynamical Equations**: - Derive the master equation containing reservoir variables through the density - operator method. - Under weakly - coupled conditions, obtain the simplified dynamical equation of the movable mirror by adiabatically eliminating the cavity - field variables. 3. **Numerical Simulation**: - Numerically calculate the steady - state average phonon number and position squeezing under different effective coupling strengths to verify the theoretical results. ### Main Conclusions 1. **Perfect Squeezed - State Transfer under Weakly - Coupled Conditions**: - Under weakly - coupled conditions, the driving cavity field can effectively act as a squeezed - vacuum reservoir, achieving a perfect squeezed - state transfer from light to the movable mirror, and is not affected by the ratio of the cavity decay rate to the mechanical frequency. 2. **Performance Degradation under Moderately - Coupled Conditions**: - When the mirror is moderately coupled to the cavity mode, photon excitation will hinder the complete destructive interference of quantum noise, causing the mirror to deviate from the ideal squeezed state. 3. **Performance Improvement in the Non - sideband - Resolved Limit**: - By eliminating the optically - induced heating process, a nearly perfect squeezed state close to the ground state can be achieved in the non - sideband - resolved limit. These results provide an important theoretical basis and technical support for achieving high - precision measurements (such as gravitational - wave detection).
