Abstract:In this paper, we determine all self-dual codes over $F_p+vF_p$ ($v^2=v$) in terms of self-dual codes over the finite field $F_p$ and give an explicit construction for self-dual codes over $F_p+vF_p$, where $p$ is a prime.

Abstract:We obtain structural results about group ring codes over F[G], where F is a finite field of characteristic p > 0 and the Sylow p-subgroup of the Abelian group G is cyclic. As a special case, we characterize cyclic codes over finite fields in the case the length of the code is divisible by the characteristic of the field. By the same approach we study cyclic codes of length m over the ring R = F (q) [u], u (r) = 0 with r > 0, gcd(m, q) = 1. Finally, we give a construction of quasi-cyclic codes over finite fields.

Abstract:The existence of optimal binary self-dual codes is a long-standing research problem. In this paper, we present some results concerning the decomposition of binary self-dual codes with a dihedral automorphism group D-2p, where p is a prime. These results are applied to construct new self-dual codes with length 78 or 116. We obtain 16 inequivalent self-dual [78, 39, 14] codes, four of which have new weight enumerators. We also show that there are at least 141 inequivalent self-dual [116, 58, 18] codes, most of which are new up to equivalence. Meanwhile, we give some restrictions on the weight enumerators of singly even self-dual codes. We use these restrictions to exclude some possible weight enumerators of self-dual codes with lengths 74, 76, 82, 98 and 100.

Abstract:Let Fq be a finite field with an odd characteristic. In this paper, we present a new result about double cyclic codes over a finite non-chain ring. Specifically, we study the double cyclic code over Fq+vFq+v2Fq with v3=v, which is isomorphic to Fq×Fq×Fq. This study mainly involves generator polynomials and generator matrices. The generating polynomial of the dual code is also obtained. We show the relationship between the generating polynomials of the double cyclic codes and those of their dual codes. Finally, as an application of these results, we construct some optimal codes over F3.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ be a finite field of cardinality $2^m$, $R=\mathbb{F}_{2^m}+u\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ $(u^2=0)$ and $s,n$ be positive integers such that $n$ is odd. In this paper, we give an explicit representation for every self-dual cyclic code over the finite chain ring $R$ of length $2^sn$ and provide a calculation method to obtain all distinct codes. Moreover, we obtain a clear formula to count the number of all these self-dual cyclic codes. As an application, self-dual and $2$-quasi-cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}$ of length $2^{s+1}n$ can be obtained from self-dual cyclic code over $R$ of length $2^sn$ and by a Gray map preserving orthogonality and distances from $R$ onto $\mathbb{F}_{2^m}^2$.

Abstract:A Method for Construction self-dual codes over Z4 is proposed by using self-dual codes over the ring Z4 +vZ4 ,where v2 =1 .A Gray map from (Z4 +vZ4 )n to Z2n4 is introduced,and some properties about self-dual codes over Z4 +vZ4 are given.It showns that the Gray image of a self-dual code over Z4 +vZ4 of length n is a self-dual code over Z4 of length 2n.Further,some extremal Type I and Type Ⅱ codes over Z4 are constructed.

Abstract:We show that every self-orthogonal code over $\mathbb F_q$ of length $n$ can be extended to a self-dual code, if there exists self-dual codes of length $n$. Using a family of Galois towers of algebraic function fields we show that over any nonprime field $\mathbb F_q$, with $q\geq 64$, except possibly $q=125$, there are self-dual codes better than the asymptotic Gilbert--Varshamov bound.

Abstract:In this study, in order to get better codes, we focus on double skew cyclic codes over the ring $\mathrm{R}= \mathbb{F}_q+v\mathbb{F}_q, ~v^2=v$ where $q$ is a prime power. We investigate the generator polynomials, minimal spanning sets, generator matrices, and the dual codes over the ring $\mathrm{R}$. As an implementation, the obtained results are illustrated with some good examples. Moreover, we introduce a construction for new generator matrices and thus achieve codes with improved parameters compared to those found in existing literature. Finally, we tabulate our obtained block codes over the ring $\mathrm{R}$.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{F}_{q}$ be the finite field with $q$ elements. This paper mainly researches the polynomial representation of double cyclic codes over $\mathbb{F}_{q}+v\mathbb{F}_{q}+v^2\mathbb{F}_{q}$ with $v^3=v$. Firstly, we give the generating polynomials of these double cyclic codes. Secondly, we show the generating matrices of them. Meanwhile, we get quantitative information related to them by the matrix forms. Finally, we investigate the relationship between the generators of double cyclic codes and their duals.

Abstract:Let $F$ be a field with cardinality $p^\ell$ and $0\neq \lambda\in F$, and $0\le h<\ell$. Extending Euclidean and Hermitian inner products, Fan and Zhang introduced Galois $p^h$-inner product (DCC, vol.84, pp.473-492). In this paper, we characterize the structure of $2$-quasi $\lambda$-constacyclic codes over $F$; and exhibit necessary and sufficient conditions for $2$-quasi $\lambda$-constacyclic codes being Galois self-dual. With the help of a technique developed in this paper, we prove that, when $\ell$ is even, the Hermitian self-dual $2$-quasi $\lambda$-constacyclic codes are asymptotically good if and only if $\lambda^{1+p^{\ell/2}}=1$. And, when $p^\ell\,{\not\equiv}\,3~({\rm mod}~4)$, the Euclidean self-dual $2$-quasi $\lambda$-constacyclic codes are asymptotically good if and only if $\lambda^{2}=1$.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct self-dual codes from a construction that involves 2x2 block circulant matrices, group rings and a reverse circulant matrix. We provide conditions whereby this construction can yield self-dual codes. We construct self-dual codes of various lengths over F2, F2 + uF2 and F4 + uF4. Using extensions, neighbours and neighbours of neighbours, we construct 32 new self-dual codes of length 68.

Abstract:It is proved in a reference (Fan, Lin, IEEE TIT, vol.67, pp.5016-5025) that the self-dual (LCD respectively) dihedral codes over a finite field~$F$ with ${|F|=q}$ are asymptotically good if $q$ is even (odd respectively). In this paper, we investigate the algebraic property and the asymptotic property of conta-dihedral codes over $F$, and show that: if $q$ is even or $4\,|\,(q-1)$, then the self-dual consta-dihedral codes are asymptotically good; otherwise, the LCD consta-dihedral codes are asymptotically good. And, with the help of a technique developed in this paper, some errors in the reference mentioned above are corrected.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the method of constructing quantum codes from cyclic codes over the ring $R= \mathbb{F}_{q}+u \mathbb{F}_{q}+v \mathbb{F}_{q}$ (u2=u, v2=v, uv=vu=0). By means of the generator polynomials and some decomposition of cyclic codes and their dual over R, we give a necessary and sufficient condition of the cyclic codes over R to be construct the quantum codes. Also as an application, we obtain new non binary quantum codes from those classes of cyclic codes.

Abstract:MDS self-dual codes have nice algebraic structures and are uniquely determined by lengths. Recently, the construction of MDS self-dual codes of new lengths has become an important and hot issue in coding theory. In this paper, we develop the existing theory and construct six new classes of MDS self-dual codes. Together with our constructions, the proportion of all known MDS self-dual codes relative to possible MDS self-dual codes generally exceed 57\%. As far as we know, this is the largest known ratio. Moreover, some new families of MDS self-orthogonal codes and MDS almost self-dual codes are also constructed.

Abstract:New $s$-extremal extremal unimodular lattices in dimensions $38$, $40$, $42$ and $44$ are constructed from self-dual codes over $\mathbb{F}_5$ by Construction A. In the process of constructing these codes, we obtain a self-dual $[44,22,14]$ code over $\mathbb{F}_5$. In addition, the code implies a $[43,22,13]$ code over $\mathbb{F}_5$. These codes have larger minimum weights than the previously known $[44,22]$ codes and $[43,22]$ codes, respectively.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the existence and asymptotic property of self-dual $2$-quasi negacyclic codes of length $2n$ over a finite field of cardinality $q$. When $n$ is odd, we show that the $q$-ary self-dual $2$-quasi negacyclic codes exist if and only if $q\,{\not\equiv}-\!1~({\rm mod}~4)$. When $n$ is even, we prove that the $q$-ary self-dual $2$-quasi negacyclic codes always exist. By using the technique introduced in this paper, we prove that $q$-ary self-dual $2$-quasi negacyclic codes are asymptotically good.

Abstract:In this paper, we study skew cyclic codes with arbitrary length over the ring $R=\mathbb{F}_{p}+u\mathbb{F}_{p}$ where $p$ is an odd prime and $% u^{2}=0$. We characterize all skew cyclic codes of length $n$ as left $% R[x;\theta ]$-submodules of $R_{n}=R[x;\theta ]/\langle x^{n}-1\rangle $. We find all generator polynomials for these codes and describe their minimal spanning sets. Moreover, an encoding and decoding algorithm is presented for skew cyclic codes over the ring $R$. Finally, based on the theory we developed in this paper, we provide examples of codes with good parameters over $F_{p}$ with different odd prime $p.$ In fact, example 25 in our paper is a new ternary code in the class of quasi-twisted codes. The other examples we provided are examples of optimal codes.
