Abstract:The solutions u(x,t) of the Sasa-Satsuma equation was constructed in terms of the solution of a 3 × 3 Riemann-Hilbert problem by Fokas method. To formulate the associated Riemann-Hilbert problem, we need know all of the boundary value data, i.e. u(0,t),ux(0,t),uxx(0,t) . However, for a well-posed problem, not all of these boundary data were prescribed, the remaining boundary data cannot be independently specified, but are determined by the so-called global relation. In this paper, we analyze particular linearizable boundary conditions, which means all the spectral functions can be constructed by an algebraic system in terms of the initial value data and the predicted boundary value data.

Abstract:In this paper, the initial-boundary value problem for the Sasa-Satsuma equation on the finite interval is studied by using the Fokas method (or called unified transform method). We show that the solution of this problem can be expressed in terms of the solution of a 3 × 3 Riemann-Hilbert problem. The relevant jump matrices are explicitly given in terms of the three matrix-value spectral functions s(k), S(k), and SL(k), which in turn are defined in terms of the initial values u0(x), boundary values at x = 0, i.e, {g0(t), g1(t), g2(t)}, and boundary values at x = L, i.e, {f0(t), f1(t), f2(t)}, respectively. However, for a well-posed problem, only part of the boundary values can be prescribed, and the remaining boundary data cannot be independently specified but are determined by the so-called global relation. As the Lax pair is 3 × 3 and the derivative order of the Sasa-Satsuma equation is three, the analysis of the global relation is more complicated. We show that if we know the initial and partial boundary values {g0(t), f0(t), f1(t)}, then we can characterize the unknown boundary values {g1(t), g2(t), f2(t)} via a Gelfand-Levitan-Marchenko representation of the eigenfunctions {Φij(t, k), ϕij(t, k)} though analyzing the global relation.

In addition to presenting the basic Riemann–Hilbert formalism, which linearizes this IBV problem, we also analyse the associated general Dirichlet to Neumann map using the so-called global relation.

Abstract:We consider the initial value problem for a two-component Sasa–Satsuma equation associated with a Lax pair with decaying initial data on the line. By utilizing the spectral analysis, the solution of the two-component Sasa–Satsuma system is transformed into the solution of a matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem. Then, the long-time asymptotics of the solution is obtained by means of the nonlinear steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou for oscillatory Riemann–Hilbert problems. We show that there are three main regions in the half-plane $-\infty<x<\infty $ , , where the asymptotics has qualitatively different forms: a left fast decaying sector, a central Painlevé sector where the asymptotics is described in terms of the solution to a system of coupled Painlevé II equations, which is related to a matrix Riemann–Hilbert problem, and a right slowly decaying oscillatory sector.</x

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the Cauchy problem of the Sasa-Satsuma (SS) equation with initial data belonging to the Schwartz space. The SS equation is one of integrable higher-order extensions of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation and admits a 3 × 3 Lax representation. With the aid of the ∂-nonlinear steepest descent method of the mixed ̄∂-Riemann-Hilbert problem, we give the soliton resolution and long-time asymptotics for the Cauchy problem of the Sasa-Satsuma equation with the existence of second-order discrete spectra in the space-time solitonic regions.

Abstract: We concentrate on inverse scattering transformation for the Sasa-Satsuma equation with $3\times 3$ matrix spectral and nonzero boundary condition in this article. To circumvent multi valuedness of eigenvalues, we introduce a suitable two-sheet Riemann surface to map the original spectral parameter $k$ into a single-valued parameter $z$. The analyticity of the Jost eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients of Lax pair for the SS equation are analyzed in details. According to the analyticity of eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients, the $z$-complex plane is divided into four analytic regions $D_j, \ j=1, 2, 3, 4$. Since the second column of Jost eigenfunctions is analytic in $D_{j}, \ j=1, 2, 3, 4$, but in upper-half or lower-half plane, we introduce certain auxiliary eigenfunctions which are necessary for deriving the analytic eigenfunctions in $D_{j}$. We find that for the eigenfunctions, scattering coefficients and the auxiliary eigenfunctions all possess three kinds of symmetries. And these symmetries for deriving the characterization of discrete spectral which are divided into three cases. The asymptotic behaviors of modified eigenfunctions, auxiliary eigenfunctions and scattering coefficients are also systematically derived. Then a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem with four kind jump conditions associated with the problem of nonzero asymptotic boundary conditions is established, from which $N$-soliton solutions is obtained via the corresponding reconstruction formulae. The reflectionless soliton solutions are explicitly derived. We construct three types soliton solutions for the diversity of discrete spectral.

Abstract:The Fokas method exhibits remarkable versatility in solving boundary value problems associated with both linear and nonlinear partial differential equations, particularly when conventional approaches encounter challenges in handling intricate boundary conditions. The existing literature often lacks the incorporation of unconventional boundary conditions, and this study addresses this issue by extending the application of the Fokas method to the higher-order Gerdjikov-Ivanov equation on the half line (−∞,0]. We have demonstrated the exclusive representation of the potential function u(z,t) in the higher-order Gerdjikov–Ivanov equation through the solution of a Riemann–Hilbert problem. The characteristic function is partitioned on the complex plane, and we obtain the jump matrix between each partition based on the positive and negative values of the partition as well as the spectral matrix determined by the initial data and boundary value data. The findings suggest that the spectral functions are not mutually independent; instead, they conform to a global relationship. The novel aspect of this study is the application of the Fokas method to a previously unexplored case, contributing to the theoretical and practical understanding of complex partial differential equations and filling a gap in the treatment of boundary conditions.

Abstract:The Sasa-Satsuma equation with 3 x 3 matrix spectral problem is one of the integrable extensions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation. In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the Sasa-Satsuma equation with generic decaying initial data. Based on the Rieamnn-Hilbert problem characterization for the Cauchy problem and the partial derivative-nonlinear steepest descent method, we find qualitatively different long time asymptotic forms for the Sasa-Satsuma equation in three solitonic space-time regions: (1) For the region x < 0,vertical bar x/t vertical bar = O(1), the long time asymptotic is given by q(x, t) = u(sol)(x, y vertical bar sigma(d)(I)) + t(-1/2)h + O(t(-3/4)), in which the leading term is N(I) solitons, the second term the second t(-1/2) order term is solitonradiation interactions and the third term is a residual error from a partial derivative-equation. Abstract:An initial boundary-value problem for the Hirota equation on the half-line, 0 < x < ∞, t > 0, is analysed by expressing the solution q(x, t) in terms of the solution of a matrix Riemann-Hilbert (RH) problem in the complex k-plane. This RH problem has explicit (x, t) dependence and it involves certain functions of k referred to as the spectral functions. Some of these functions are defined in terms of the initial condition q(x, 0) = q0(x), while the remaining spectral functions are defined in terms of the boundary values q(0, t) = g0(t), qx(0, t) = g1(t) and qxx(0, t) = g2(t). The spectral functions satisfy an algebraic global relation which characterizes, say, g2(t) in terms of {q0(x), g0(t), g1(t)}. The spectral functions are not independent, but related by a compatibility condition, the so-called global relation.

Abstract:We use the Fokas method to investigate coupled derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations on a half-line. The solutions are represented in terms of solutions of two matrix Riemann–Hilbert problems (RHPs) formulated in the complex plane of the spectral parameter. The elements of jump matrices are composed of spectral functions and are derived from the initial and boundary values. The spectral functions are not independent of each other, but satisfy a compatibility condition, the so-called global condition. Therefore, if the initial boundary and values and the defined spectral functions satisfy the global condition, the RHP is solvable and hence the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equations on a half-line are solvable.

Abstract:This paper studies the multi-component Sasa-Satsuma integrable hierarchies via an arbitrary-order matrix spectral problem, based on the zero curvature formulation. A generalized coupled Sasa-Satsuma equation is derived from the multi-component Sasa-Satsuma integrable hierarchies with a bi-Hamiltonian structure. The inverse scattering transform of the generalized coupled Sasa-Satsuma equation is presented by the spatial matrix spectral problem and the Riemann–Hilbert method, which enables us to obtain the N-soliton solutions. And then the dynamics of one- and two-soliton solutions are discussed and presented graphically. Asymptotic analyses of the presented two-soliton solution are finally analyzed.

Abstract:The object of this work is to investigate the initial-boundary value problem for coupled Hirota equation on the half-line. We show that the solution of the coupled Hirota equation can be expressed in terms of the solution of a 3 × 3 matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem formulated in the complex k-plane. The relevant jump matrices are explicitly given in terms of the matrix-valued spectral functions s(k) and S(k) that depend on the initial data and boundary values, respectively. Then, applying nonlinear steepest descent techniques to the associated 3 × 3 matrix-valued Riemann-Hilbert problem, we can give the precise leading-order asymptotic formulas and uniform error estimates for the solution of the coupled Hirota equation.
