I introduce the applications of algebraic geometry methods on multi-loop scattering amplitudes, for instance, integrand reduction, residue computation in unitarity analysis and Integration-by-parts reduction. Abstract:A formulation of the boundary integral method for solving partial differential equations has been developed whereby the usual weakly singular integral and the Cauchy principal value integral can be removed analytically. The broad applicability of the approach is illustrated with a number of problems of practical interest to fluid and continuum mechanics including the solution of the Laplace equation for potential flow, the Helmholtz equation as well as the equations for Stokes flow and linear elasticity.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we introduce a new sub-supersolution result for a problem involving an integro-differential operator with local and nonlocal terms, which arise in several applications such as thermal process, plasma reaction, and populational growth. Abstract:We provide a new approach to obtain solutions of certain evolution equations set in a Banach space and equipped with nonlocal boundary conditions. From this approach we derive a family of numerical schemes for the approximation of the solutions. We show by numerical tests that these schemes are numerically robust and computationally efficient.

Set-Valued and Variational Analysis

Abstract:Existence results for a Cauchy problem driven by a semilinear differential Sturm-Liouville inclusion are achived by proving, in a preliminary way, an existence theorem for a suitable integral inclusion. In order to obtain this proposition we use a recent fixed point theorem that allows us to work with the weak topology and the De Blasi measure of weak noncompactness. So we avoid requests of compactness on the multivalued terms. Then, by requiring different properties on the map p involved in the Sturm-Liouville inclusion, we are able to establish the existence of both mild solutions and strong ones for the problem examinated. Moreover we focus our attention on the study of controllability for a Cauchy problem governed by a suitable Sturm-Liouville equation. Finally we precise that our results are able to study problems involving a more general version of a semilinear differential Sturm-Liouville inclusion.

Exactly Solvable and Integrable Systems

Abstract:We present a method to solve initial-boundary value problems for linear and integrable nonlinear differential-difference evolution equations. The method is the discrete version of the one developed by A. S. Fokas to solve initial-boundary value problems for linear and integrable nonlinear partial differential equations via an extension of the inverse scattering transform. The method takes advantage of the Lax pair formulation for both linear and nonlinear equations, and is based on the simultaneous spectral analysis of both parts of the Lax pair. A key role is also played by the global algebraic relation that couples all known and unknown boundary values. Even though additional technical complications arise in discrete problems compared to continuum ones, we show that a similar approach can also solve initial-boundary value problems for linear and integrable nonlinear differential-difference equations. We demonstrate the method by solving initial-boundary value problems for the discrete analogue of both the linear and the nonlinear Schrodinger equations, comparing the solution to those of the corresponding continuum problems. In the linear case we also explicitly discuss Robin-type boundary conditions not solvable by Fourier series. In the nonlinear case we also identify the linearizable boundary conditions, we discuss the elimination of the unknown boundary datum, we obtain explicitly the linear and continuum limit of the solution, and we write down the soliton solutions.

Abstract:In many seemingly diverse physical contexts (including, for example, certain radiation field problems, studies of crystallographic minimal surfaces, the theory of scattering of acoustic or electromagnetic waves by means of an elliptic disk, studies of elliptical crack problems in fracture mechanics, and so on), a remarkably large number of general families of elliptic-type integrals, and indeed also many definite integrals of such families with respect to their modulus (or complementary modulus), are known to arise naturally. Motivated essentially by these and many other potential avenues of their applications, we present here a systematic account of the theory of a certain family of incomplete elliptic integrals in a unified and generalized manner. By means of the familiar Riemann-Liouville fractional differintegral operators, we obtain several explicit hypergeometric representations and apply these representations with a view to deriving various associated definite integrals, not only with respect to the modulus (or complementary modulus), but also with respect to the amplitude of the incomplete elliptic integrals involved therein.
