Abstract:New jute variety, “Zhonghuangma No.1( former name C90-2)”, was bred from progeny of 71-8×79-51 backcrossed with 79-51, by systematical selection and recurrent selection method for six generations selection in 1990. In the variety yield comparison test in 1993-1994, it's average yield was 2814.00kg/hm2, which was 14.32%more than that of the CK Yueyuan No.5. The average yield of C90-2 was 2808.00kg/hm2, 13.59%higher than that of CK Yueyuan No.5 (2472.15kg/hm2) in the national jute regional trial at 5 locations for 2 years (2002-2003), and the difference was to significant level. Its average strength was 401N, fineness 439.0m/g, better than that of the CK. The main Characteri stics of the variety were larger plant, thicker stem, higher resistance to anthracnose disease, high yield stability and wide adaptability, which is one of the most promising varieties at present and can completely substitute imported “Bangladeshi fiber and provide material for civil luxurious jute product.

Abstract:Heterosis is a phenomenon whereby hybrids of inbred lines produce favourable phenotypes that exceed those of their parents. Traits of interest are higher yield and stronger stress tolerance. The two-line super-hybrid rice Liangyoupei9' (LYP9) shows superiority to both its elite inbred line 93-11' and Pei'ai64s' (PA64s') parents and conventional hybrids. However, the genetic basis of its hybrid vigour, especially yield determination, remains elusive. In the present study, a set of 156 chromosome segment substitution lines (CSSLs) carrying overlapping segments from PA64s' in a genetic background of 93-11' were constructed and planted in six environments. Three major agronomic traits, viz. panicle length (PL), heading date (HD) and plant height (PH), and five yield-related traits, viz. grain weight per panicle (GWP), number of grains per panicle (GPP), 1000-grain weight (TGW), seed set (SS) and number of panicles of per plant (PPP), were evaluated over 3years. Quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis was conducted using a likelihood ratio test based on stepwise regression. Forty-six putative QTL distributed on 11 chromosomes were detected in more than oneyear. Remarkably, GWP of four CSSLs carrying positive yield QTL outperformed the recurrent parent 93-11' by more than 15%, in at least two environments. These results indicate that CSSLs are effective in identifying yield-associated traits, and lines harbouring such QTL will be rich in resources for future molecular breeding programmes.

Abstract:The number of urothelial tumors of the lower urinary tract caused by occupational exposure is expected to markedly exceed the number of diseases which are actually compensated. The German compensation system for diseases is explained using the example of disease number 1301 which applies to bladder diseases due to aromatic amines. A standard procedure for the evaluation of the percentage of disability ("MdE") caused by tumors of the urinary bladder is presented. Important working areas which are associated with an elevated tumor risk of the lower urinary tract are mentioned. Cancerogenic aromatic amines can also be liberated in the human organism from soluble, i. e. bioavailable, azo dyes by reductive cleavage. Therefore, as a first step, a detailed work history (starting from the beginning of apprenticeship) must be obtained in all cases of urothelial tumors because of the very long latency time of tumors of the urothelium which can be up to fourty years and higher.
Molecular breeding of a high oleic acid soybean line by integrating natural variations

Abstract:Soybean is an important crop used for oil production. Alterations of the fatty acids, especially increased oleic acid content, can improve the nutritional quality and oxidative stability of soybean oil. During seed development, two genes, encoding FAD2-1A and FAD2-1B, are mainly responsible for the transformation from oleic acid to linoleic acid, and the combination of fad2-1a and fad2-1b is the key factor for increasing oleic acid content. To breed high oleic acid varieties, we analyzed the haplotype of FAD2-1A and FAD2-1B among 1250 soybean accessions and detected a novel mutation in the FAD2-1A gene that we described as fad2-1a/W254Stop. By focusing on the mutation fad2-1a/W254Stop and the reported fad2-1b allele, we developed two molecular markers. Based on these markers, we selected one line (435) from a cross between the fad2-1a(W254Stop) allele and the existing fad2-1 allele The oleic acid content of '435' was 91.03%. The '435' line was used as a donor parent, and an elite soybean cultivar 'Heinong51' was selected as the recurrent parent. After three backcrosses, we detected an individual with high oleic acid content (75%) and high yield. We named this individual 'Fuhang3'. This study generated material for breeding high oleic acid soybean varieties and improved the rate of breeding novel soybean varieties.

Stability Evaluation for Main Quality Traits of Soybean in the Northeast and Huang-Huai-Hai Regions

Abstract:The content of protein and oil in soybeans is an important trait for evaluating quality and is regulated by genetic and environmental factors, lacking comprehensive identification under a variety of ecological conditions. Therefore, evaluating the stability of soybean quality traits under different environmental conditions has great significance for various applications. In this study, we compare 150 soybean varieties from Northeast China (Group A and Group B) and the Huang-Huai-Hai region (Group C). As the release time progressed, the oil content in the soybean varieties showed an upward trend in both Northeast China and the Huang-Huai-Hai region, while the protein content showed a downward trend. Additionally, the oil contents were negatively correlated with the protein contents and the sum of protein and oil contents, while the protein contents were positively correlated with the sum of protein and oil contents, with the correlation becoming stronger as the latitude decreased. Moreover, there were obvious variations in quality stability among different varieties. Hefeng 45, Jilinxiaolidou 4, and Zhonghuang 19 had relatively high protein contents and exhibited good stability across different environments, while Kenjiandou 25, Changnong 17, Dongnong 46, Kennong 17, Liaodou 14, and GR8836 had relatively high oil contents with good stability performance in varying environments.

Abstract:In order to breed high yielding and good grain quality new variety with controllable seed purity,hybrid rice 'Zhefuliangyou 12' was produced by green-revertible albino leaf color marker-labeled two-line male sterile line 'NHR111S' and mutant 'ZF-2' with enhanced tillers and improved grain quality,which was characterized by improved grain quality,rice blast resistance and lodging resistance.Breeding protocol,characteristics,and high yielding cultivation techniques of 'Zhefuliangyou 12' were briefly introduced in the current paper.

Abstract:Zao A, developed by crossing the selected F_5 plants of Bo B/Jiang B to Zhi A with successive backcrossing method, is an early-maturing indica CMS line. It was technically certified in Guangxi in October, 2004. It is characterized by stable and complete male sterility, high stigma exsertion, high out-crossing rate, good sensitivity of GA_3 and easiness for hybrid seed production. Its hybrid Zaoyou 11 (Zao A/Gui 11) showed early maturity, high yield and good quality. In the experimental productions in 2004, Zaoyou 11 yielded 8% higher than the check hybrid Jinyou 463.

Abstract:The soybean is an important feed, industrial raw material, and food crop in the world due to its rich components. There is a long history of soybean cultivation with different types and rich resources in the Zhejiang province of China. It is important to understand genetic diversity as well as phenotypic variation for soybean breeding. The objective of this study was to analyze both genetic and phenotypic characteristics of the 78 soybean landraces collected, and to explore a potential advantage of germplasm resources for further application. These 78 autumn-type soybean landraces have been propagated, identified, and evaluated in both 2021 and 2022. There were agronomic, quality, and genetic variations according to the comprehensive analyses. There was a good consistency between seed size and seed coat color. There were significant differences of seed protein, fat, and sugar contents based upon the seed coat color. These soybean landraces were genotyped using 42 simple sequence repeat markers and then clustered into two groups. The two groups had a consistency with the seed coat color. This study gave us a combined understanding of both the phenotypic variation and the genetic diversity of the soybean landraces. Therefore, the reasonable crossing between different soybean types is highly recommended.

Abstract:Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) is an important legume crop worldwide. Plant height (PH) is a quantitative trait that is closely related to node number (NN) and internode length (IL) on the main stem, which together affect soybean yield. To identify candidate genes controlling these three traits in soybean, we examined a recombinant inbred line (RIL) population derived from a cross between two soybean varieties with semi-determinate stems (Dt1Dt1Dt2Dt2), JKK378 and HXW. A quantitative trait locus (QTL) named qPH18 was identified that simultaneously controls PH, NN, and IL; this region harbors the semi-determinant gene Dt2. Sequencing of the Dt2 promoter from JKK378 identified three polymorphisms relative to HXW, including two single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) and an 18-bp insertion/deletion polymorphism (Indel). Dt2 expression was lower in the qPH18JKK378 group than in the qPH18HXW group, whereas the expression level of the downstream gene Dt1 showed the opposite tendency. A transient transfection assay confirmed that Dt2 promoter activity is lower in JKK378 compared to HXW. We propose that the polymorphisms in the dominant Dt2 promoter underlie the differences in Dt2 expression and its downstream gene Dt1 in the two parents, thereby affecting PH, NN, IL, and grain weight per plant without altering stem growth habit. Compared to the PH18HXW allele, the qPH18JKK378 allele suppresses Dt2 expression, which releases the inhibition of Dt1 expression, thus enhancing NN and grain yield. Our findings shed light on the mechanism underlying NN and PH in soybean and provide a molecular marker to facilitate breeding.

Abstract:Background: Soybean is an important oil and cash crop, soybean protein is the main source of protein for human consumption. Soybean oil is also major edible oil that is rich in unsaturated fatty acids and is more conducive to human long-term consumption than animal oil. An important research direction of current soybean breeding is improvement of the protein and fat content using marker assisted selection and many reports of associated quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping have been documented. Until to now, a total of 241 QTLs associated with protein content and 315 related to fat content have been collected on the SoyBase website. Methods: In this study, 236 F2 generation plants and a derivative group were constructed by using Jiyu50 and Jinong18, obtained from Jilin Province. Combining three years of phenotypic and molecular detection data, using the ICIM method, one-dimensional scanning detected 24 QTLs related to protein and fat content, two-dimensional ICIM analysis of F2:3 families detected 7 pairs of epistatic QTLs associated with fat content. Result: Based on a mixed model for major genes and polygenes, the C model was determined the optimal genetic model for protein and fat content, with genetic rates of multiple genes of 71.15% and 79.15%, respectively. In the detection of high-oil molecular markers, the detection coincidence degree was Sat_238 greater than Satt 100 greater than Satt 150 greater than Satt 636 greater than Sat_287 = Sat_342, while this was Satt150 = Sat_342 greater than Satt100 greater than Satt 636 greater than Sat_287 greater than Sat_238 for high-protein markers. The QTL localization results showed that 9 microeffect QTLs related to protein content and 7 microeffect QTLs related to fat content were detected. Isolation analysis results were generally similar to those of QTL mapping. One stable QTL associated with protein content and two stable QTLs associated with fat content were identified as being of some application value in soybean molecular marker-assisted breeding.

Abstract:The volatile flavor profiles and sensory properties of different vegetable soybean varieties popularized and cultivated in China for 20, 10, and 2 years (TW292, X3, and SX6, respectively) were investigated. Nutrient composition analysis revealed that TW292 had a high soluble protein and soluble sugar content but low fat content. The total free amino acid content (15.43 mg/g) and umami free amino acid content (6.08 mg/g) of SX6 were significantly higher (p < 0.05) than those of the other varieties. An electronic tongue effectively differentiated between the umami and sweetness characteristics of the vegetable soybeans. Differences in sensory evaluation results were mainly reflected in texture and taste. A total of 41 volatile compounds were identified through HS-SPME-GC-MS, and the main flavor compounds were 1-octen-3-ol, hexanal, (Z)-2-heptenal, 2-octene, nonanal, (Z)-2-decenal, and 3,5-octadien-2-one. However, the volatile composition of different vegetable soybean varieties exhibited large variability in type and relative contents. Considerable differences in nutritional, organoleptic, and aroma characteristics were found among different varieties. The results of this study will provide a good basis for the assessment and application of the major vegetable soybean varieties grown in China.

Abstract:A high-efficiency Agrobacterium tumefaciens mediated transformation system was established through testing and optimising a range of variables using soybean cotyledonary as explants and glufosinate as selective agent. Seven cultivars (Heihe 19, Heihe 25, Heinong 37, Ha 03-3, YC-1, YC-2, and Zhonghuang 39) were used to screen the optimal cultivars. As a result, cultivars YC-1 and YC-2 were screened, which had the highest transient GUS expression percentage and shoot induction frequency. The cell density of Agrobacterium was found to be related with the transient GUS expression percentage; its optimal cell density was OD 0.8–1.0. It was beneficial to A. tumefaciens infection at 23 °C and dim light co-cultivation condition. Interestingly, the infection time showed no relation to the GUS transient percentage. Three types of antioxidant solutions were tested on their effects of alleviating cotyledonary explant browning and necrosis. The results showed that addition of 20 μM lipoic acid on solid CCM had the lowest cotyledonary explant necrosis and a high transient GUS expression rate. Following the optimized A. tumefaciens mediated transformation system, the bar gene was successfully transferred into soybean with the transformation efficiency reaching 14.71 %, more than 50 times increase from the un-optimized procedure. Southern and T1 progeny analysis showed the exogenous gene had been integrated into the soybean genome and could be inherited next progeny.

[Identification of drought tolerant germplasm and inheritance and QTL mapping of related root traits in soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.)]

Abstract:Fifty nine accessions of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) selected from 301 ones in Huang-Huai-Hai and Middle-Lower Changjiang Valleys were tested in two years for their tolerance to drought by using the mean membership index value averaged over those of plant height,leave number,dry root weight and dry stem and leaf weight. Four most tolerant accessions (Rank 1) and two most sensitive ones (Rank 5) were identified. There existed very significant correlations between drought tolerance and relative values of dry root weight,total root length, and root volume (per plant dry weight basis), respectively,which could be used as root indicators of drought tolerance. The RIL population derived from Kefeng 1 x Nannong 1138-2 was used to analyze the inheritance of the three related root traits by using the segregation analysis of quantitative traits under the major gene plus polygene mixed inheritance model. The results showed that between the two parents (Rank 1 x Rank 4), the relative values of dry root weight,total root length and root volume were respectively controlled by two major genes (linked together for the latter two traits, recombination value being 4.30% and 1.93%, respectively) plus polygenes with their major gene heritability values of 62.26%-91.81% and polygene heritability values 2.99%-24.75%, indicating that the major genes,especially the one with larger effect,accounted for a major part of the genetic variation between the two parents. It was identified that five, three, and five QTLs located on N6-C2, N8-D1b + W, N11-E, and N18-K linkage groups for relative dry root weight, total root length and root volume, respectively. Each of the traits appeared to have one locus (Dw1, R/1, and Rv1) with relatively large effect in comparison with their other loci, and those major ones were located near the same site of the same linkage group N6-C2. The results of segregation analysis and QTL mapping appeared pretty consistent with each other, which could be used as a demonstration of each other.

Abstract:Yuhua91 is a new peanut variety with high oleic acid content bred by Qingdao Agricultural University. The crossing was conducted with Luhua11 as female parent and with Kainong1715, an F435-type variety with high oleic acid content as male parent. The real F1 hybrids were screened by sequencing on PCR amplification products, and those homozygotes with bb genotype in F2 populations were screened by the same sequencing method as above. The content of oleic and linoleic acid was measured on the kernels harvested from F2 single plants by near infrared ray method, and those kernels whose content of oleic was above 80%, oleic and linoleic acid ratio was above 10.0 were obtained and planted into a row, with pedigree method for subsequent selection breeding. Yuhua91 has some characters of small pod, light and obvious pod texture, 148.06 g per 100 pods, 63.31 g per 100 kernels, 75.15% shelling percentage, long elliptic seed kernel, pink seed coat, without crack, white endotesta. Its content of protein, oil, oleic acid, linoleic acid and palmitic acid was 26.57%, 52.72%, 80.40%, 2.50% and 5.57% respectively. Yuhua91 has other characters of strong seedlings, compact pod areas, and moderate resistance to leaf spot disease and bacterial wilt. Average pod yield is 215.79 kg per Mu, 15.27% higher than the control variety Huayu20. Average seed kernels yield is 157.33 kg per Mu, 21.64% higher than the control variety Huayu20. Yuhua 91 has been registered on department of agriculture in 2018, and the registration No. is GPD peanut (2018) 370210, fit for growing in Shandong Province.
Densification of Genetic Map and Stable Quantitative Trait Locus Analysis for Amino Acid Content of Seed in Soybean (Glycine max L.)

Abstract:Soybean, a primary vegetable protein source, boasts favorable amino acid profiles; however, its composition still falls short of meeting human nutritional demands. The soybean amino acid content is a quantitative trait controlled by multiple genes. In this study, an F2 population of 186 individual plants derived from the cross between ChangJiangChun2 and JiYu166 served as the mapping population. Based on the previously published genetic map of our lab, we increased the density of the genetic map and constructed a new genetic map containing 518 SSR (simple sequence repeats) markers and 64 InDel (insertion-deletion) markers, with an average distance of 5.27 cm and a total length of 2881.2 cm. The content of eight essential amino acids was evaluated in the F2:5, F2:6, and BLUP (best linear unbiased prediction). A total of 52 QTLs (quantitative trait loci) were identified, and 13 QTL clusters were identified, among which loci02.1 and loci11.1 emerged as stable QTL clusters, exploring candidate genes within these regions. Through GO enrichment and gene annotation, 16 candidate genes associated with soybean essential amino acid content were predicted. This study would lay the foundation for elucidating the regulatory mechanisms of essential amino acid content and contribute to germplasm innovation in soybeans.
Mapping Isoflavone QTL with Main, Epistatic and QTL × Environment Effects in Recombinant Inbred Lines of Soybean.

Abstract:Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) isoflavone is important for human health and plant defense system. To identify novel quantitative trait loci (QTL) and epistatic QTL underlying isoflavone content in soybean, F-5:6, F-5:7 and F-5:8 populations of 130 recombinant inbred (RI) lines, derived from the cross of soybean cultivar 'Zhong Dou 27' (high isoflavone) and 'Jiu Nong 20' (low isoflavone), were analyzed with 95 new SSR markers. A new linkage map including 194 SSR markers and covering 2,312 cM with mean distance of about 12 cM between markers was constructed. Thirty four QTL for both individual and total seed isoflavone contents of soybean were identified. Six, seven, ten and eleven QTL were associated with daidzein (DZ), glycitein (GC), genistein (GT) and total isoflavone (TI), respectively. Of them 23 QTL were newly identified. The qTIF_1 between Satt423 and Satt569 shared the same marker Satt569 with qDZF_2, qGTF_1 and qTIF_2. The qGTD2_1 between Satt186 and Satt226 was detected in four environments and explained 3.41%-10.98% of the phenotypic variation. The qGTA2_1, overlapped with qGCA2_1 and detected in four environments, was close to the previously identified major QTL for GT, which were responsible for large a effects. QTL (qDZF_2, qGTF_1 and qTIF_2) between Satt144-Satt569 were either clustered or pleiotropic. The qGCM_1, qGTM_1 and qTIM_1 between Satt540-Sat_244 explained 2.02%-9.12% of the phenotypic variation over six environments. Moreover, the qGCE_1 overlapped with qGTE_1 and qTIE_1, the qTIH_2 overlapped with qGTH_1, qGCI_1 overlapped with qDZI_1, qTIL_1 overlapped with qGTL_1, and qTIO_1 overlapped with qGTO_1. In this study, some of unstable QTL were detected in different environments, which were due to weak expression of QTL, QTL by environment interaction in the opposite direction to a effects, and/or epistasis. The markers identified in multi-environments in this study could be applied in the selection of soybean cultivars for higher isoflavone content and in the map-based gene cloning.
Genomics-Assisted Improvement of Super High-Yield Hybrid Rice Variety "Super 1000" for Resistance to Bacterial Blight and Blast Diseases

Abstract:The two-line rice hybrid "Super 1000" (GX24S × R900) represents a major landmark achievement of breeding for super-hybrid rice in China. However, both male parent R900 and hybrid "Super 1000" have an obvious defect of high susceptibility to rice bacterial blight (BB) and blast. Thus, improving disease resistance and maintaining the original high-yield capacity are essential for the sustainable application of "Super 1000." In this study, the application of closely linked single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers for foreground selection of dominant resistance gene loci together with genome-wide SNP markers for the background selection rapidly improved the disease resistance of R900 without disturbing its high-yield capacity. A series of improved R900 lines (iR900, in BC2Fn and BC3Fn generations) were developed to stack resistance genes (Xa23+Pi9, Xa23+Pi1+Pi2/9) by marker-assisted backcrossing and field selection for phenotypes, and further crossed with the female line GX24S to obtain improved hybrid variety Super 1000 (iS1000). The genetic backgrounds of iS1000 and "Super 1000" were profiled by using a 56 K SNP-Chip, and results showed that they shared 98.76% of similarity. Meanwhile, evaluation of the field disease resistance showed that the iR900 lines and iS1000 hybrids possess significantly enhanced resistance to both BB and rice blast. Resistance spectrum assays revealed that the iR900 lines and their derived hybrids exhibited high-level resistance to 28 Xoo strains tested, and enhanced resistance to leaf blast at the seedling stage when infected with 38 Magnaporthe oryzae isolates. Between 2019 and 2020, the multi-location field trials across the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River were launched and showed that the iS1000 slightly out-yielded than the original variety. In a large-scale demonstration site (6.73 ha, Yunnan, China), the iS1000 achieved 17.06 t/hm2 of yield in 2019. Moreover, the high similarity was observed in main agronomic traits and grain quality when comparing the improved lines/hybrids to original ones (iR900 vs. R900, iS1000 vs. S1000). This work presented a typical genomics-assisted breeding strategy and practice, which involves in directional introgression and rapid stack of multiple disease resistance genes, endowing the super-high-yield hybrid rice variety with holistic disease resistance but without yield penalty.

Abstract:The duration of soybean growth and development is regulated by E1-E4 allele genes, which form the basis for ecological adaptation related to biomass accumulation, flowering and pod formation, maturation, and yield. To elucidate the effects of different combinations of E1-E4 allele genes on soybean ecological adaptation, this study conducted competitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) analysis and photoperiod gene typing on 101 main soybean cultivars from different latitudes in China. The ecological adaptation of these cultivars in Sichuan was also investigated. The results showed that within a certain range (60-95 days), soybean varieties with a genotype combination of E1/e2-ns/E3/E4 exhibited a longer growth period and demonstrated higher biomass and yield, displaying overall better performance. These varieties showed strong ecological adaptation in the Chengdu Plain region and are suitable for introduction in similar low to mid-latitude areas like the Chengdu Plain (30°N~32°N). Conversely, soybean varieties carrying a higher number of recessive alleles of E1-E4 are not suitable for introduction in this region.

Abstract:Summary Seed size is one of the most important agronomic traits determining the yield of crops. Cloning the key genes controlling seed size and pyramiding their elite alleles will facilitate yield improvement. To date, few genes controlling seed size have been identified in soybean, a major crop that provides half of the plant oil and one quarter of the plant protein globally. Here, through a genome‐wide association study of over 1800 soybean accessions, we determined that natural allelic variation at GmST05 (Seed Thickness 05) predominantly controlled seed thickness and size in soybean germplasm. Further analyses suggested that the two major haplotypes of GmST05 differed significantly at the transcriptional level. Transgenic experiments demonstrated that GmST05 positively regulated seed size and influenced oil and protein contents, possibly by regulating the transcription of GmSWEET10a. Population genetic diversity analysis suggested that allelic variations of GmST05 were selected during geographical differentiation but have not been fixed. In summary, natural variation in GmST05 determines transcription levels and influences seed size and quality in soybean, making it an important gene resource for soybean molecular breeding.

Abstract:Soybean (Glycine max L.) is the main source of vegetable protein and edible oil for humans, with an average content of about 40% crude protein and 20% crude fat. Soybean yield and quality traits are mostly quantitative traits controlled by multiple genes. The quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping for yield and quality traits, as well as for the identification of mining-related candidate genes, is of great significance for the molecular breeding and understanding the genetic mechanism. In this study, 186 individual plants of the F2 generation derived from crosses between Changjiangchun 2 and Yushuxian 2 were selected as the mapping population to construct a molecular genetic linkage map. A genetic map containing 445 SSR markers with an average distance of 5.3 cM and a total length of 2375.6 cM was obtained. Based on constructed genetic map, 11 traits including hundred-seed weight (HSW), seed length (SL), seed width (SW), seed length-to-width ratio (SLW), oil content (OIL), protein content (PRO), oleic acid (OA), linoleic acid (LA), linolenic acid (LNA), palmitic acid (PA), stearic acid (SA) of yield and quality were detected by the multiple- d size traits and 113 QTLs related to quality were detected by the multiple QTL model (MQM) mapping method across generations F2, F2:3, F2:4, and F2:5. A total of 71 QTLs related to seed size traits and 113 QTLs related to quality traits were obtained in four generations. With those QTLs, 19 clusters for seed size traits and 20 QTL clusters for quality traits were summarized. Two promising clusters, one related to seed size traits and the other to quality traits, have been identified. The cluster associated with seed size traits spans from position 27876712 to 29009783 on Chromosome 16, while the cluster linked to quality traits spans from position 12575403 to 13875138 on Chromosome 6. Within these intervals, a reference genome of William82 was used for gene searching. A total of 36 candidate genes that may be involved in the regulation of soybean seed size and quality were screened by gene functional annotation and GO enrichment analysis. The results will lay the theoretical and technical foundation for molecularly assisted breeding in soybean.
