Abstract:In this paper, nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs of finite dimensional vector space are studied using the zero-divisor graph of specially constructed 0-1-distributive lattice and the zero-divisor graph of rings. Further, we define an equivalence relation on nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs to deduce that these graphs are the graph join of zero-divisor graphs of Boolean algebras and complete graphs. In the last section, we characterize the perfect and chordal nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new graph structure, called the $direct~ sum ~graph$ on a finite dimensional vector space. We investigate the connectivity, diameter and the completeness of $\Gamma_{U\oplus W}(\mathbb{V})$. Further, we find its domination number and independence number. We also determine the degree of each vertex in case the base field is finite and show that the graph $\Gamma_{U\oplus W}(\mathbb{V})$ is not Eulerian. We also show that under some mild conditions the graph $\Gamma_{U\oplus W}(\mathbb{V})$ is triangulated. We determine the clique number of $\Gamma_{U\oplus W}(\mathbb{V})$ for some particular cases. Finally, we find the size, girth, edge-connectivity and the chromatic number of $\Gamma_{U\oplus W}(\mathbb{V})$.

Abstract:For any Tychonoff space X we have introduced the zero-set in-tersection graph on {\Gamma}(C+(X)) and studied the graph properties in connection with the algebraic properties of the semiring C+(X). We have shown that for any two realcompact spaces X and Y the graph isomorphism between {\Gamma}(C+(X)) and {\Gamma}(C+(Y )), the semiring isomorphism between C+(X) and C+(Y ), the topological homeomorphism between X and Y, the ring isomorphism between C(X) and C(Y ) and the graph isomorphism between {\Gamma}(C(X)) and {\Gamma}(C(Y )) are equivalent.

A family is called intersecting if for all F , we have A family is called almost intersecting if for every there is at most one element satisfying In this paper we investigate almost intersecting families in the vector space V . Firstly, for large n , we determine the maximum size of an almost intersecting family in which is the same as that of an intersecting family. Secondly, we characterize the structures of all maximum almost intersecting families under the condition that they are not intersecting.

Abstract: Let $(K_1,\ldots,K_n)$ be a Cantor type graph-directed attractors in $\mathbb{R}^d$. By creating an auxiliary graph, we provide an effective criterion of whether $K_i\cap K_j$ is empty for every pair of $1\leq i,j\leq n$. Moreover, the emptiness can be checked by examining only a finite number of the attractor's geometric approximations. The method is also applicable for more general graph-directed systems. As an application, we are able to determine the connectedness of all $d$-dimensional generalized Sierpi\'nski sponges of which the corresponding IFSs are allowed to have rotational and reflectional components.
Some properties of the Zero-set Intersection graph of $C(X)$ and its Line graph

Abstract:Let $C(X)$ be the ring of all continuous real valued functions defined on a completely regular Hausdorff topological space $X$. The zero-set intersection graph $\Gamma (C(X))$ of $C(X)$ is a simple graph with vertex set all non units of $C(X)$ and two vertices are adjacent if the intersection of the zero sets of the functions is non empty. In this paper, we study the zero-set intersection graph of $C(X)$ and its line graph. We show that if $X$ has more than two points, then these graphs are connected with diameter and radius 2. We show that the girth of the graph is 3 and the graphs are both triangulated and hypertriangulated. We find the domination number of these graphs and finally we prove that $C(X)$ is a von Neuman regular ring if and only if $C(X)$ is an almost regular ring and for all $f \in V(\Gamma (C(X)))$ there exists $g \in V(\Gamma(C(X)))$ such that $Z(f) \cap Z(g) = \phi$ and $\{f, g\}$ dominates $\Gamma(C(X))$. Finally, we derive some properties of the line graph of $\Gamma (C(X))$.

Some basic properties and algorithmic status of few problems on these graphs are cited. This article will help to the beginners to start work in this direction. Abstract:A Kirchhoff graph is a vector graph with orthogonal cycles and vertex cuts. An algorithm has been developed that constructs all the Kirchhoff graphs up to a fixed edge multiplicity. This algorithm is used to explore the structure of prime Kirchhoff graph tilings. The existence of infinitely many prime Kirchhoff graphs given a set of fundamental Kirchhoff graphs is established, as is the existence of a minimal multiplicity for Kirchhoff graphs to exist.

Abstract:We prove the uniqueness of the infinite connected component for the vacant set of random interlacements on general vertex-transitive amenable transient graphs. Our approach is based on connectedness of random interlacements and differs from the one used by Teixera <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0805.4106" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0805.4106">arXiv:0805.4106</a> to prove the uniqueness of the infinite connected component for the vacant set of random interlacements on $\mathbb Z^d$.

Abstract:We study the sets of planes in an even dimensional real vector space $V$ which are simultaneously stabilised by a pair of complex structures on $V$. We completely describe these sets of planes for pairs of orthogonal complex structures. Generically, the number of such planes is finite. We compute this number for orthogonal complex structures and prove that it gives a lower bound for the number of planes simultaneously stabilised by a generic pair of complex structures on $V$.

Abstract:For a given graph whose edges are labeled with general real numbers, we consider the set of functions from the vertex set into the Euclidean plane such that the distance between the images of neighbouring vertices is equal to the corresponding edge label. This set of functions can be expressed as the zero set of quadratic polynomials and our main result characterizes the number of complex irreducible components of this zero set in terms of combinatorial properties of the graph. In case the complex components are three-dimensional, then the graph is minimally rigid and the component number is a well-known invariant from rigidity theory. If the components are four-dimensional, then they correspond to one-dimensional coupler curves of flexible planar mechanisms. As an application, we characterize the degree of irreducible components of such coupler curves combinatorially.

Finding Triangles and Other Small Subgraphs in Geometric Intersection Graphs

Abstract:We consider problems related to finding short cycles, small cliques, small independent sets, and small subgraphs in geometric intersection graphs. We obtain a plethora of new results. For example: * For the intersection graph of $n$ line segments in the plane, we give algorithms to find a 3-cycle in $O(n^{1.408})$ time, a size-3 independent set in $O(n^{1.652})$ time, a 4-clique in near-$O(n^{24/13})$ time, and a $k$-clique (or any $k$-vertex induced subgraph) in $O(n^{0.565k+O(1)})$ time for any constant $k$; we can also compute the girth in near-$O(n^{3/2})$ time. * For the intersection graph of $n$ axis-aligned boxes in a constant dimension $d$, we give algorithms to find a 3-cycle in $O(n^{1.408})$ time for any $d$, a 4-clique (or any 4-vertex induced subgraph) in $O(n^{1.715})$ time for any $d$, a size-4 independent set in near-$O(n^{3/2})$ time for any $d$, a size-5 independent set in near-$O(n^{4/3})$ time for $d=2$, and a $k$-clique (or any $k$-vertex induced subgraph) in $O(n^{0.429k+O(1)})$ time for any $d$ and any constant $k$. * For the intersection graph of $n$ fat objects in any constant dimension $d$, we give an algorithm to find any $k$-vertex (non-induced) subgraph in $O(n\log n)$ time for any constant $k$, generalizing a result by Kaplan, Klost, Mulzer, Roddity, Seiferth, and Sharir (1999) for 3-cycles in 2D disk graphs. A variety of techniques is used, including geometric range searching, biclique covers, "high-low" tricks, graph degeneracy and separators, and shifted quadtrees. We also prove a near-$\Omega(n^{4/3})$ conditional lower bound for finding a size-4 independent set for boxes.

Abstract:For a pair of finitely generated modules $M$ and $N$ over a codimension $c$ complete intersection ring $R$ with $\ell(M\otimes_RN)$ finite, we pay special attention to the inequality $\dim M+\dim N \leq \dim R +c$. In particular, we develop an extension of Hochster's theta invariant whose nonvanishing detects equality. In addition, we consider a parallel theory where dimension and codimension are replaced by depth and complexity, respectively.

Abstract:In this article, we first prove a general theorem which asserts that every quasi-component of a quasi-spectral space is connected. As an application, it is shown that every connected component of a quasi-compact quasi-separated scheme is the intersection of all clopen (both open and closed) subsets containing a point. In particular, the connected components of an affine scheme Spec$(R)$ are precisely of the form $V(J)$ where $J$ is a proper ideal of the ring $R$ generated by a set of idempotent elements such that $R/J$ has no nontrivial idempotents. The above result also contributes to the following open problem: Is there a way to describe the connected components of the projective space $\mathbb{P}_{A}^{n}={\rm Proj}(A[x_{0},\ldots,x_{n}])$ in a precise form (similar the affine case)? Next, we characterize the finiteness of the number of connected components of an arbitrary (quasi-compact) topological space in terms of purely algebraic conditions. In particular, a topological space $X$ has finitely many connected components if and only if $X$ has finitely many clopens. In this case, $|{\rm Clop}(X)|=2^n$ where $n$ is the number of connected components of $X$. More surprisingly, we prove that a quasi-compact space $X$ has finitely many connected components, i.e. $\kappa=|\pi_{0}(X)|<\infty$ if and only if $|{\rm Clop}(X)|=2^\kappa$. In the same vein, we prove that a commutative ring $R$ has finitely many idempotents if and only if there exists a decomposition $R\simeq\prod\limits_{k=1}^{n}R/(1-e_{k})$ with each $e_k$ is a primitive idempotent of $R$.

Abstract:An infinite matroid is graphic if all of its finite minors are graphic and the intersection of any circuit with any cocircuit is finite. We show that a matroid is graphic if and only if it can be represented by a graph-like topological space: that is, a graph-like space in the sense of Thomassen and Vella. This extends Tutte's characterization of finite graphic matroids. The representation we construct has many pleasant topological properties. Working in the representing space, we prove that any circuit in a 3-connected graphic matroid is countable.

Functionality of box intersection graphs

Abstract:Functionality is a graph complexity measure that extends a variety of parameters, such as vertex degree, degeneracy, clique-width, or twin-width. In the present paper, we show that functionality is bounded for box intersection graphs in $\mathbb{R}^1$, i.e. for interval graphs, and unbounded for box intersection graphs in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We also study a parameter known as symmetric difference, which is intermediate between twin-width and functionality, and show that this parameter is unbounded both for interval graphs and for unit box intersection graphs in $\mathbb{R}^2$.

Abstract:Eigenvector centrality is one of the outstanding measures of central tendency in graph theory. In this paper we consider the problem of calculating eigenvector centrality of graph partitioned into components and how this partitioning can be used. Two cases are considered; first where the a single component in the graph has the dominant eigenvalue, secondly when there are at least two components that share the dominant eigenvalue for the graph. In the first case we implement and compare the method to the usual approach (power method) for calculating eigenvector centrality while in the second case with shared dominant eigenvalues we show some theoretical and numerical results. Linear subspaces of the intersection of two quadrics via Kuznetsov component

Abstract:Let $Q_i(i=1,2)$ be $2g$ dimensional quadrics in $\mathbb{P}^{2g+1}$ and let $Y$ be the smooth intersection $Q_1\cap Q_2$. We associate the linear subspace in $Y$ with vector bundles on the hyperelliptic curve $C$ of genus $g$ by the left adjoint functor of $\Phi:D^b(C)\rightarrow D^b(Y)$. As an application, we give a different proof of the classification of line bundles and stable bundles of rank $2$ on hyperelliptic curves given by Desale and Ramanan. When $g=3$, we show that the projection functor induces a closed embedding $\alpha:Y\rightarrow SU^s_C(4,h)$ into the moduli space of stable bundles on $C$ of rank $4$ of fixed determinant.
