Abstract:Search for a proper and realistic equation of state (EOS) for strongly interacting matter used in the study of the QCD phase diagram still appears as a challenging problem. Recently, we constructed a hybrid model description for the quark gluon plasma (QGP) as well as hadron gas (HG) phases where we used an excluded volume model for HG and a thermodynamically consistent quasiparticle model for the QGP phase. The hybrid model suitably describes the recent lattice results of various thermodynamical as well as transport properties of the QCD matter at zero baryon chemical potential ($\mu_{B}$). In this paper, we extend our investigations further in obtaining the properties of QCD matter at finite value of $\mu_{B}$ and compare our results with the most recent results of lattice QCD calculation.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the description of the equation of state (EOS) of strongly interacting matter at a finite baryon chemical potential (\(\mu_B\)). Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts that, at a sufficiently high temperature (\(T\)) and/or chemical potential (\(\mu_B\)), strongly interacting matter will undergo a phase transition from an insulating hadron gas (HG) phase to a conducting quark - gluon plasma (QGP) phase, and this process is called the deconfinement phase transition. In addition, QCD also exhibits spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking, which will lead to a phase transition of chiral symmetry restoration at high temperatures and/or high densities. Although the equation of state of QCD matter at zero baryon chemical potential has achieved remarkable success through lattice QCD calculations, the methods for describing the properties of matter under finite - density conditions still lack reliability. Therefore, finding an equation of state of QCD matter that is valid at both zero and non - zero chemical potentials remains a challenge. In particular, due to the lack of a suitable equation of state of QCD matter, experimentalists and theorists have encountered difficulties in accurately mapping the boundaries of the entire QCD phase diagram and finding the location of the hypothesized QCD critical point (CP). To meet this challenge, the author constructs a hybrid model to describe the HG and QGP phases, in which a new excluded - volume model is used to describe HG and a thermodynamically consistent quasiparticle model is used to describe the QGP phase. The thermodynamic and transport properties of this model at zero baryon chemical potential are compared with the latest lattice QCD results, showing good consistency. On this basis, this paper further explores the ability of this hybrid model to describe the properties of QCD matter at finite \(\mu_B\) values and compares its results with the latest lattice QCD calculation results. Through these studies, the author hopes to provide valuable insights for future research on the equation of state of QCD matter and the existence of CP in the QCD phase diagram.
