Abstract:Given a parabolic vector bundle, we construct for it a projectivization and tautological line bundle. These are analogs of the projectivization and tautological line bundle for an usual vector bundle. Using these we give a construction of the parabolic Chern classes.

Abstract:Let p : chi -> S be a proper Kahler fibration and epsilon -> chi a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle. As motivated by the work of Berndtsson ([Bern09]), by using basic Hodge theory, we derive several general curvature formulas for the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) for general Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle epsilon in a simple way. A straightforward application is that, if the family chi -> S is infinitesimally trivial and Hermitian vector bundle epsilon is Nakano-negative along the base S, then the direct image p(*) (K-chi/S circle times epsilon) is Nakano-negative. We also use these curvature formulas to study the moduli space of projectively flat vector bundles with positive first Chern classes and obtain that, if the Chern curvature of direct image p(*)(K-X circle times E)-of a positive projectively flat family (E, h(t))(t is an element of D) -> X-vanishes, then the curvature forms of this family are connected by holomorphic automorphisms of the pair (X, E).

Abstract:In this paper, we present two kinds of total Chern forms c(E,G) and C(E,G) as well as a total Segre form s(E,G) of a holomorphic Finsler vector bundle π : (E,G) → M expressed by the Finsler metric G, which answers a question of J. Faran ([10]) to some extent. As some applications, we show that the signed Segre forms (−1)sk(E,G) are positive (k, k)forms on M when G is of positive Kobayashi curvature; we prove, under an extra assumption, that a Finsler-Einstein vector bundle in the sense of Kobayashi is semi-stable; we introduce a new definition of a flat Finsler metric, which is weaker than Aikou’s one ([3]) and prove that a holomorphic vector bundle is Finsler flat in our sense if and only if it is Hermitian flat.

Abstract:Let $\varphi : Y \rightarrow X$ be a finite surjective morphism between smooth complex projective curves, where $X$ is irreducible but $Y$ need not be so. Let $V_*$ be a parabolic vector bundle on $Y$. We construct a parabolic structure on the direct image $\varphi_* V$ on $X$, where $V$ is the vector bundle underlying $V_*$. The parabolic vector bundle $\varphi_* V_*$ on $X$ obtained this way has a ramified torus sub-bundle; it is a torus bundle of $\text{Ad}(\varphi_* V)$ outside the parabolic divisor for $\varphi_* V_*$ that satisfies certain conditions at the parabolic points. Conversely, given a parabolic vector bundle $E_*$ on $X$, and a ramified torus sub-bundle $\mathcal T$ for it, we construct a ramified covering $Z$ of $X$ and a parabolic vector bundle $W_*$ on $Z$, such that the parabolic bundle $E_*$ is the direct image of $W_*$. A connection on $V_*$ produces a connection on $\varphi_* V_*$. The ramified torus sub-bundle for $\varphi_* V_*$ is preserved by the logarithmic connection on $\text{End}(\varphi_* V)$ induced by this connection on $\varphi_* V_*$. If the parabolic vector bundle $E_*$ on $X$ is equipped with a connection $D$ such that the connection on the endomorphism bundle induced by it preserves the ramified torus sub-bundle $\mathcal T$, then we prove that the corresponding parabolic vector bundle $W_*$ on $Z$ has a connection that produces the connection $D$ on the direct image $E_*$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite abelian group acting faithfully on ${\mathbb C}{\mathbb P}^1$ via holomorphic automorphisms. In \cite{DF2} the $G$--equivariant algebraic vector bundles on $G$--invariant affine open subsets of ${\mathbb C}{\mathbb P}^1$ were classified. We classify the $G$--equivariant algebraic vector bundles on ${\mathbb C}{\mathbb P}^1$.

Abstract:For a simple, simply connected, complex group G, we prove an explicit formula to compute the Atiyah class of parabolic determinant of cohomology line bundle on the moduli space of parabolic $G$-bundles. This generalizes an earlier result of Beilinson-Schechtman.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a complex projective variety, and let $E_{\ast}$ be a parabolic vector bundle on $X$. We introduce the notion of \textit{parabolic Seshadri constants} of $E_{\ast}$. It is shown that these constants are analogous to the classical Seshadri constants of vector bundles, in particular, they have parallel definitions and properties. We prove a Seshadri criterion for parabolic ampleness of $E_{\ast}$ in terms of parabolic Seshadri constants. We also compute parabolic Seshadri constants for symmetric powers and tensor products of parabolic vector bundles.

Abstract:In \cite{Bi2} (Canad. Jour. Math. Vol. 58) we defined connections on a parabolic principal bundle. While connections on usual principal bundles are defined as splittings of the Atiyah exact sequence, it was noted in \cite{Bi2} that the Atiyah exact sequence does not generalize to the parabolic principal bundles. Here we show that a twisted version of the Atiyah exact sequence generalize to the context of parabolic principal bundles. For usual principal bundles, giving a splitting of this twisted Atiyah exact sequence is equivalent to giving a splitting of the Atiyah exact sequence. Connections on a parabolic principal bundle can be defined using the generalization of the twisted Atiyah exact sequence.

Abstract:We give a combinatorial classification of torus equivariant vector bundles on a (normal) projective T-variety of complexity-one. This extends the classification of equivariant line bundles on complexity-one T-varieties by Petersen-Süss on one hand, and Klyachko's classification of equivariant vector bundles on toric varieties on the other hand. A main ingredient in our classification is the classification of torus equivariant vector bundles on toric schemes over a DVR in terms of piecewise affine maps to the (extended) Bruhat-Tits building of the general linear group.

A classification of complex rank 3 vector bundles on complex projective 5-space

Abstract:Given integers $a_1,a_2,a_3$, there is a complex rank $3$ topological bundle on $\mathbb CP^5$ with $i$-th Chern class equal to $a_i$ if and only if $a_1,a_2,a_3$ satisfy the Schwarzenberger condition. Provided that the Schwarzenberger condition is satisfied, we prove that the number of isomorphism classes of rank $3$ bundles $V$ on $\mathbb C P^5$ with $c_i(V)=a_i$ is equal to $3$ if $a_1$ and $a_2$ are both divisible by $3$ and equal to $1$ otherwise. This shows that Chern classes are incomplete invariants of topological rank $3$ bundles on $\mathbb CP^5$. To address this problem, we produce a universal class in the $tmf$-cohomology of a Thom spectrum related to $BU(3)$, where $tmf$ denotes topological modular forms localized at $3$. From this class and orientation data, we construct a $\mathbb Z/3$-valued invariant of the bundles of interest and prove that our invariant separates distinct bundles with the same Chern classes.

Abstract:We give a complete classification of the Chern characters of constructive exceptional vector bundles on $\mathbb{P}^3$ analogous to the work of Drézet and Le Potier on $\mathbb{P}^2$, and using this classification prove that a constructive exceptional bundle $E$ on $\mathbb{P}^3$ with $\mu(E) \geq 0$ is globally generated.

Abstract:This article is concerned with Chern class and Chern number inequalities on polarized manifolds and nef vector bundles. For a polarized pair $(M,L)$ with $L$ very ample, our 1st main result is a family of sharp Chern class inequalities. Among them the 1st one is a variant of a classical result and the equality case of the 2nd one is a characterization of hypersurfaces. The 2nd main result is a Chern number inequality on it, which includes a reverse Miyaoka–Yau-type inequality. The 3rd main result is that the Chern numbers of a nef vector bundle over a compact Kähler manifold are bounded below by the Euler number. As an application, we classify compact Kähler manifolds with nonnegative bisectional curvature whose Chern numbers are all positive. A conjecture related to the Euler number of compact Kähler manifolds with nonpositive bisectional curvature is proposed, which can be regarded as a complex analogue to the Hopf conjecture.

Abstract:Let (X) over bar be a compact complex manifold with a smooth Kahler metric and D = Sigma(i=1)(m) D-i a divisor in (X) over bar with normal crossings. Let E be a holomorphic vector bundle over (X) over bar with a stable parabolic structure along D. We prove that there exists a Hermitian-Einstein metric on E' = E \(<(X)over bar\D) and obtain a Chern number inequality for a stable parabolic bundle.Without the assumption that the irreducible components D-i of D meet transversely, using Hironaka's theorem on the resolution of singularities, we also get a Chern number inequality for a more general stable parabolic bundle.
Chen--Ruan cohomology and orbifold Euler characteristic of moduli spaces of parabolic bundles

Abstract:We consider the moduli space of stable parabolic Higgs bundles of rank $r$ and fixed determinant, and having full flag quasi-parabolic structures over an arbitrary parabolic divisor on a smooth complex projective curve $X$ of genus $g$, with $g\,\geq\, 2$. The group $\Gamma$ of $r$-torsion points of the Jacobian of $X$ acts on this moduli space. We describe the connected components of the various fixed point loci of this moduli under non-trivial elements from $\Gamma$. When the Higgs field is zero, or in other words when we restrict ourselves to the moduli of stable parabolic bundles, we also compute the orbifold Euler characteristic of the corresponding global quotient orbifold. We also describe the Chen--Ruan cohomology groups of this orbifold under certain conditions on the rank and degree, and describe the Chen--Ruan product structure in special cases.

Abstract:The $\bar{\partial}_{_{J}}$ operator over an almost complex manifold induces canonical connections of type $(0,1)$ over the bundles of $(p,0)$-forms. If the almost complex structure is integrable then the previous connections induce the canonical holomorphic structures of the bundles of $(p,0)$-forms. For $p=1$ we can extend the corresponding connection to all Schur powers of the bundle of $(1,0)$-forms. Moreover using the canonical $\C$-linear isomorphism betwen the bundle of $(1,0)$-forms and the complex cotangent bundle $T^*_{X,J}$ we deduce canonical connections of type $(0,1)$ over the Schur powers of the complex cotangent bundle $T^*_{X,J}$. If the almost complex structure is integrable then the previous $(0,1)$-connections induces the canonical holomorphic structures of those bundles. In the non integrable case those $(0,1)$-connections induces just the holomorphic canonical structures of the restrictions of the corresponding bundles to the images of smooth $J$-holomorphic curves. We introduce the notion of Chern curvature for those bundles. The geometrical meaning of this notion is a natural generalisation of the classical notion of Chern curvature for the holomophic vector bundles over a complex manifold. We have a particular interest for the case of the tangent bundle in view of applications concerning the regularisation of $J$-plurisubharmonic fonctions by means of the geodesic flow induced by a Chern connection on the tangent bundle. This method has been used by Demailly in the complex integrable case. Our specific study in the case of the tangent bundle gives an asymptotic expanson of the Chern flow which relates in a optimal way the geometric obstructions caused by the torsion of the almost complex structure, and the non symplectic nature of the metric.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an algebro-geometric construction of the Hitchin connection in the parabolic setting for a fixed determinant line bundle. Our strategy is based on Hecke modifications, where we provide a decomposition formula for the parabolic determinant line bundle and the canonical line bundle of the moduli space of parabolic bundles. As a special case, we construct a Hitchin connection on the moduli space of vector bundles with fixed non-trivial determinant.

Abstract:Given a holomorphic Lie algebroid on an m-pointed Riemann surface, we define parabolic Lie algebroid connections on any parabolic vector bundle equipped with parabolic structure over the marked points. An analogue of the Atiyah exact sequence for parabolic Lie algebroids is constructed. For any Lie algebroid whose underlying holomorphic vector bundle is stable, we give a complete characterization of all the parabolic vector bundles that admit a parabolic Lie algebroid connection.

A Parallel Section Functor for 2-Vector Bundles

Abstract:We associate to a 2-vector bundle over an essentially finite groupoid a 2-vector space of parallel sections, or, in representation theoretic terms, of higher invariants, which can be described as homotopy fixed points. Our main result is the extension of this assignment to a symmetric monoidal 2-functor $\operatorname{Par} : \mathbf{2VecBunGrpd} \to \mathbf{2Vect}$. It is defined on the symmetric monoidal bicategory $\mathbf{2VecBunGrpd}$ whose morphisms arise from spans of groupoids in such a way that the functor $\operatorname{Par}$ provides pull-push maps between 2-vector spaces of parallel sections of 2-vector bundles. The direct motivation for our construction comes from the orbifoldization of extended equivariant topological field theories.
