Abstract:The Cornu spirals on plane are the curves whose curvatures are linear. Generalized planar cornu spirals and Euler spirals in E^3, the curves whose curvatures are linear are defined in [1,5]. In this study, these curves are presented as the ratio of two rational linear functions. Also here, generalized Euler spirals in E^3 has been defined and given their some various characterizations. The approach I used in this paper is useful in understanding the role of Euler spirals in E^3 in differential geometry.

Abstract:Willmore defined embedded surfaces on f:S→E3, which is the embedding of S into Euclidean 3-space. He investigated the Euclidean metric of E3, inducing a Riemannian structure on f(S). The expression analogous to the left-hand member of the curvature K is replaced by the mean curvature H2 on f(S). Our aim is to observe the Gaussian and mean curvatures of curve–surface pairs using embedded surfaces in different curve–surface pairs and to define some developable operations on their curve–surface pairs. We also investigate the embedded surfaces using the Willmore method. We first recall the Darboux curve–surface and derive the new characterizations. This curve–surface pair is called the osculating Darboux curve–surface if its position vector always lies in the osculating Darboux plane spanned by a Darboux frame. Thus, we observed an osculating Darboux curve–surface pair. We also obtained the D∼-scroll of the curve–surface pair and involute D∼-scroll of the curve–surface pair with some differential geometric elements and found D∼(α,M)(s) and D∗∼(α,M)(s)-scrolls of the curve–surface pair (α,M).

Abstract:A twisted curve in Euclidean 3-space E^3 can be considered as a curve whose position vector can be written as linear combination of its Frenet vectors. In the present study we study the twisted curves of constant ratio in E^3 and characterize such curves in terms of their curvature functions. Further, we obtain some results of T-constant and N-constant type twisted curves in E^3. Finally, we give some examples of equiangular spirals which are constant ratio curves.

Abstract:Let $(f,g): (S,s) \to (\mathbb{C}^2, 0)$ be a finite morphism from a germ of normal complex analytic surface to the germ of $\mathbb{C}^2$ at the origin. We show that the affine algebraic curve in $\mathbb{C}^2$ defined by the initial Newton polynomial of a defining series of the discriminant germ of $(f,g)$ depends up to toric automorphisms only on the germs of curves defined by $f$ and $g$. This result generalizes a theorem of Gryszka, Gwoździewicz and Parusiński, which is the special case in which $(S,s)$ is smooth. Our proof uses a common generalization of formulas of Lê and Casas-Alvero for the intersection number of the discriminant with a germ of plane curve. It uses also a theorem of Delgado and Maugendre characterizing the special members of pencils of curves on normal surface singularities. We apply it to the pencils generated by all pairs $(f^b, g^a)$, for varying positive integral exponents $a, b$, following a strategy initiated by Gwoździewicz. This is similar to the Eudoxian method of comparison of magnitudes by comparing the sizes of their positive integral multiples.

Severi curves of rational elliptic surfaces

Abstract:We study Severi curves parametrizing rational bisections of elliptic fibrations associated to general pencils of plane cubics. Our main results show that these Severi curves are connected and reduced, and we give an upper bound on their geometric genus using quasi-modular forms. We conjecture that these Severi curves are eventually reducible, and we formulate a precise conjecture for their degrees in $\mathbb{P}^2$, featuring a divisor sum formula for collision multiplicities of branch points.

Abstract:In this study, we give definitions and characterizations of eikonal slant helix curves, eikonal Darboux helices and non-normed eikonal Darboux helices in three dimensional Riemannian manifold 3 M . We show that every eikonal slant helix is also an eikonal Darboux helix. Furthermore, we obtain that if the curve a is a non-normed eikonal Darboux helix, then a is an eikonal slant helix if and only if k 2 +t 2 = constant, where k and t are curvature and torsion of a, respectively.
Plus-one generated curves, Briançon-type polynomials and eigenscheme ideals

Abstract:We define the minimal plus-one generated curves and prove a result explaining why they are the closest relatives of the free curves, after the nearly free curves. Then we look at the projective closures of the general and of the special fibers of some Briançon-type polynomials constructed by E. Artal Bartolo, Pi. Cassou-Noguès and I. Luengo Velasco. They yield new examples of free, nearly free or minimal plus-one generated curves, as well as counter-examples to the conjecture saying that a supersolvable curve is free. In the final section we give a characterization of plus-one generated curves in terms of eigenscheme ideals, similar to the characterization of free curves given by R. Di Gennaro, G. Ilardi, R.M. Miró-Roig, H. Schenck and J. Vallès in a recent paper. Then we apply this result to the construction of minimal plus-one generated curves obtained by putting together at least two members in a pencil of curves related to Briançon-type polynomials.

Abstract:In this paper, we define a rectifying spacelike curve in the Minkowski space-time $E_1^4$ as a curve whose position vector always lies in orthogonal complement $N^{\bot}$ of its principal normal vector field $N$. In particular, we study the rectifying spacelike curves in $E_1^4$ and characterize such curves in terms of their curvature functions.

Abstract:We construct a large new family of rational algebraic curves in the complex projective plane with a (p,q) cusp singularity. More precisely, we classify all such pairs (p,q) for curves which are rigid (in a suitable sense), finding a phase transition from discrete to continuous as the ratio p/q crosses the fourth power of the golden ratio. In particular, for many values of (p,q), our curves solve the minimal degree problem for plane curves with a (p,q) cusp singularity. Our technique relies on (i) explicit bijections between curves in log Calabi-Yau surfaces and curves in nontoric blowups of toric surfaces, (ii) the tropical vertex group and its connections with relative Gromov--Witten invariants, and (iii) recent positivity results for scattering diagrams. As our main application, we completely solve the stabilized symplectic embedding problem for four-dimensional ellipsoids into the four-dimensional round ball. The answer is neatly encoded in a single piecewise smooth function which transitions from an infinite Fibonacci staircase to an explicit rational function. Many of our results also extend to other target spaces, e.g. del Pezzo surfaces and more general rational surfaces.

Abstract:We initiate the study of a class of real plane algebraic curves which we call expressive. These are the curves whose defining polynomial has the smallest number of critical points allowed by the topology of the set of real points of a curve. This concept can be viewed as a global version of the notion of a real morsification of an isolated plane curve singularity. We prove that a plane curve $C$ is expressive if (a) each irreducible component of $C$ can be parametrized by real polynomials (either ordinary or trigonometric), (b) all singular points of $C$ in the affine plane are ordinary hyperbolic nodes, and (c) the set of real points of $C$ in the affine plane is connected. Conversely, an expressive curve with real irreducible components must satisfy conditions (a)-(c), unless it exhibits some exotic behaviour at infinity. We describe several constructions that produce expressive curves, and discuss a large number of examples, including: arrangements of lines, parabolas, and circles; Chebyshev and Lissajous curves; hypotrochoids and epitrochoids; and much more.

Abstract:We describe the invariants of plane quartic curves -- nonhyperelliptic genus 3 curves in their canonical model -- as determined by Dixmier and Ohno, with application to the classification of curves with given structure. In particular, we determine modular equations for the strata in the moduli space $\Me_3$ of plane quartics which have at least seven hyperflexes, and obtain an computational characterization of curves in these strata.

Abstract:We study the enumerative geometry of algebraic curves on abelian surfaces and threefolds. In the abelian surface case, the theory is parallel to the well-developed study of the reduced Gromov-Witten theory of K3 surfaces. We prove complete results in all genera for primitive classes. The generating series are quasimodular forms of pure weight. Conjectures for imprimitive classes are presented. In genus 2, the counts in all classes are proven. Special counts match the Euler characteristic calculations of the moduli spaces of stable pairs on abelian surfaces by Göttsche-Shende. A formula for hyperelliptic curve counting in terms of Jacobi forms is proven (modulo a transversality statement). For abelian threefolds, complete conjectures in terms of Jacobi forms for the generating series of curve counts in primitive classes are presented. The base cases make connections to classical lattice counts of Debarre, Goettsche, and Lange-Sernesi. Further evidence is provided by Donaldson-Thomas partition function computations for abelian threefolds. A multiple cover structure is presented. The abelian threefold conjectures open a new direction in the subject.

Special Divisors on Real Trigonal Curves

Abstract:In this paper we examine the topology of Brill-Noether varieties associated to real trigonal curves. More precisely, we aim to count the connected components of the real locus of the varieties parametrizing linear systems of degree $d$ and dimension at least $r$. We do this count when the relations $m=g-d+r-1\leq d-2r-1$ are satisfied, where $m$ is the Maroni invariant and $g$ is the genus of the curve.

Abstract:In this study, we determine a new type comprehensive frame, which is called the generalized Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations, and it includes several special and classical type frames for Euclidean 3‐space and three‐dimensional Lie groups. After constructing this new comprehensive frame, we obtain derivative formulas with the help of the Lie curvature. In addition, we define some special type curves. The geometry of versor fields along a curve with Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations is a generalization of the usual theory of curves. Since this particular relationship, the osculating‐type and rectifying‐type curves with Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations include some special cases for osculating and rectifying curves in different spaces.

Negative Curves and Elliptic Fibrations on a Special Rational Surface

Abstract:The blown up complex projective plane in the twelve triple points of the dual Hesse arrangement has an infinite number of irreducible rational curves of self-intersection $-1$, for short, $(-1)$-curves. In the preprint version of [Dumnicki, 2019], T. Szemberg et alii tried to keep track of plane rational curves which produce $(-1)$-curves, by applying successively to a straight line compositions taken from three different quadratic Cremona maps preserving the dual Hesse arrangement, in such a way as to produce a diagram of bifurcations. The symmetric aspect of the degrees of curves encoded in the entries of the diagram motivated them to propose the problem of to give a closed formula for the degree of the rational curve at the entry $a_{i,j}$. We solved this problem for a slightly different diagram of bifurcations of the same Cremona maps, which recover and extends the data on degrees of the original diagram. We also are able to describe the position and multiplicites of singularities of each rational curve encoded in the diagram, as well as their equations (implemented in Python and Singular softwares). Our idea is to embed the plane rational curves as components of special elements of elliptic pencils, then apply a closed formula for the degrees of the generic curves of the elliptic pencils of [Puchuri, 2013], and, from this, extract the data of the rational curves on each entry of the diagram.

Abstract:In this research, we have constructed and studied special tubular surfaces in Euclidean 3-space $ \mathbb{R}^{3} $. We examined the singularities and geometrical properties of these surfaces. We achieved some significant results for these surfaces via Darboux frame. Also, we have proposed a few geometric invariants that illustrate the geometric characteristics of these surfaces, such as tubular Weingarten surfaces, using the traditional methods of differential geometry. Additionally, taking advantage of the singularity theory, we have given the classification of generic singularities of these surfaces. At last, we have presented some computational examples as an instance of use to validate our theoretical findings.
