Abstract:Without the faithful assumption, we prove that every Jordan derivation on a class of path algebras of quivers without oriented cycles is a derivation and that every Lie derivation on such kinds of algebras is of the standard form.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study Jordan derivations of dual extension algebras and those of generalized one-point extension algebras. It is shown that every Jordan derivation of dual extension algebras is a derivation. As applications, we obtain that every Jordan generalized derivation and every generalized Jordan derivation on dual extension algebras are both generalized derivations. For generalized one-point extension algebras, it is proved that under certain conditions, each Jordan derivation of them is the sum of a derivation and an anti-derivation.

Abstract:This article studies the Lie algebra Der(k Gamma) of derivations on the path algebra k Gamma of a quiver Gamma and the Lie algebra on the first Hochschild cohomology group HH1(k Gamma). We relate these Lie algebras to the algebraic and combinatorial properties of the path algebra. Characterizations of derivations on a path algebra are obtained, leading to a canonical basis of Der(k Gamma) and its Lie algebra properties. Special derivations are associated to the vertices, arrows and faces of a quiver, and the concepts of a connected matrix and boundary matrix are introduced to study the relations among these derivations, concluding that the space of edge derivations is the direct sum of the spaces of the vertex derivations and the face derivations, while the dimensions of the latter spaces are the largest possible. By taking dimensions, this relation among spaces of derivations recovers Euler's polyhedron formula. This relation also leads a combinatorial construction of a canonical basis of the Lie algebra HH1(k Gamma), together with a semidirect sum decomposition of H1(k Gamma).

Abstract:Let U be a $\phi $-Johnson amenable Banach algebra in which $\phi$ is a non-zero multiplicative linear functional on U. Suppose that X is a Banach U-bimodule such that $a.x=\phi(a)x$ for all a in U and x in X or $x.a=\phi(a)x$ for all a in U and x in X. We show that every continuous Jordan derivation from U to X is a derivation, and every continuous Lie derivation from U to X decomposed into the sum of a continuous derivation and a continuous center-valued trace.

Abstract:We prove that every 2-local derivation from the algebra $M_n(\mathcal{A})(n>2)$ into its bimodule $M_n(\mathcal{M})$ is a derivation, where $\mathcal{A}$ is a unital Banach algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ is a unital $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule such that each Jordan derivation from $\mathcal{A}$ into $\mathcal{M}$ is an inner derivation, and that every 2-local derivation on a C*-algebra with a faithful traceable representation is a derivation. We also characterize local and 2-local Lie derivations on some algebras such as von Neumann algebras, nest algebras, Jiang-Su algebra and UHF algebras.

Abstract:In this paper, we generalize ordinary derivation and Jordan derivation of a ring to the concepts of P-derivation and P-Jordan derivation of a ring respectively. Some properties, e.g. the composition of P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, are given. Moreover, it proved that if R/P(R) is 2-torsion free for a ring R and its prime radical P(R), P-Jordan derivations of R are P-derivations. More mainly, some conclusions on the commutativity of R/I and R/P(R) are obtained via P-derivations and P-Jordan derivations, for a prime ideal I of R.

Abstract:Assume that M is a Hilbert C ∗ -module over a C ∗ -algebra A and δ:M→M is a map. It is shown that if δ is A -linear, then the three statements are equivalent: (1) δ is a Jordan derivation; (2) δ is a derivation; (3) δ∈L(M) and δ∗=−δ . Furthermore, we give a decomposition of M and discuss some properties about this decomposition. Based on these, it is shown that, under the assumption that A is commutative, δ is a C -linear Jordan derivation if and only if δ is a derivation. Our results generalize some known related results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the types of Jordan derivations of a Banach algebra $A$ with a right identity $e$. We show that if $eA$ is commutative and semisimple, then every Jordan derivation of $ A $ is a derivation. In this case, Jordan derivations map $A$ into the radical of $A$. We also prove that every Jordan triple left (right) derivation of $ A $ is a Jordan left (right) derivation. Finally, we investigate the range of Jordan left derivations and establish that every Jordan left derivation of $ A $ maps $ A $ into $eA$.

Abstract:In this note, we will prove that a finite dimensional Lie algebra $L$ of characteristic zero, admitting an abelian algebra of derivations $D\leq Der(L)$ with the property $$ L^n\subseteq \sum_{d\in D}d(L) $$ for some $n\geq 1$, is necessarily solvable. As a result, if $L$ has a derivation $d:L\to L$, such that $L^n\subseteq d(L)$, for some $n\geq 1$, then $L$ is solvable.

Abstract:We initiate a study on a range of new generalized derivations of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. This new generalization of derivations has an analogue in the theory of associative prime rings and unites many well-known generalized derivations that have already appeared extensively in the study of Lie algebras and other nonassociative algebras. After exploiting fundamental properties, we introduce and analyze their interiors, especially focusing on the rationality of the corresponding Hilbert series. Applying techniques in computational ideal theory we develop an approach to explicitly compute these new generalized derivations for the three-dimensional special linear Lie algebra over the complex field.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigated the problem of describing the form of higher Jordan triple derivations on trivial extension algebras. We show that every higher Jordan triple derivation on a $ 2 $-torsion free $ * $-type trivial extension algebra is a sum of a higher derivation and a higher anti-derivation. Abstract:Given a commutative algebra $A$, we exhibit a canonical structure of post-Lie algebra on the space $A\otimes Der(A)$ where $Der(A)$ is the space of derivations on $A$, in order to use the machinery given in [Guin & Oudom 2008] and [Ebrahimi-Fard & Lundervold & Munthe-Kaas 2015] and to define a Hopf algebra structure on the associated enveloping algebra with a natural action on $A$. We apply these results to the setting of [Linares & Otto & Tempelmayr 2023], giving a simpler and more efficient construction of their action and extending the recent work [Bruned & Katsetsiadis]. This approach gives an optimal setting to perform explicit computations in the associated structure group.
