Abstract:Some finite series of harmonic numbers involving certain reciprocals are evaluated. Products of such reciprocals are expanded in a sum of the individual reciprocals, leading to a computer program. A list of examples is provided.

Abstract:Harmonic numbers arise from the truncation of the harmonic series. The $n^\text{th}$ harmonic number is the sum of the reciprocals of each positive integer up to $n$. In addition to briefly introducing the properties of harmonic numbers, we cover harmonic numbers as the summation of integrals that involve the product of exponential and hyperbolic secant functions. The proof is relatively simple since it only comprises the Principle of Mathematical Induction and integration by parts.

Abstract:A generalization of the Chu-Vandermonde convolution is presented and proved with the integral representation method. This identity can be transformed into another identity, which has as special cases two known identities. Another identity that is closely related to this identity is presented and proved. Using the modified geometric series from another paper, some closely related identities are listed. Some corresponding harmonic number identities are derived, which have as special cases some known harmonic number identities. For one combinatorial sum a recursion formula is derived and used to compute a few examples.

Abstract:Multiple harmonic-like numbers are studied using the generating function approach. A closed form is stated for binomial sums involving these numbers and two additional parameters. Several corollaries and examples are presented which are immediate consequences of the main result. Finally, combinatorial identities involving harmonic-like numbers and other prominent sequences like hyperharmonic numbers and odd harmonic numbers are offered.

On Some Series Involving Harmonic and Skew-Harmonic Numbers

Abstract:In this paper, we evaluate in closed form several different series involving the harmonic numbers and skew-harmonic numbers. We consider two classes of series involving these sequences. One class of series involves the product of the $n$th harmonic or skew-harmonic number and a tail. We provide the solution to two open problems concerning these harmonic series with tails from Ovidiu Furdui's book Sharpening Mathematical Analysis Skills. The other class of series is the Hardy series, which involves a logarithm and the Euler-Mascheroni constant being subtracted from the $n$th harmonic number.

Abstract:Recently, Chen, Hou and Jin used both Abel's lemma on summation by parts and Zeilberger's algorithm to generate recurrence relations for definite summations. Meanwhile, they proposed the Abel-Gosper method to evaluate some indefinite sums involving harmonic numbers. In this paper, we use the Abel-Gosper method to prove an identity involving the generalized harmonic numbers. Special cases of this result reduce to many famous identities. In addition, we use both Abel's lemma and the WZ method to verify and to discover identities involving harmonic numbers. Many interesting examples are also presented.

Abstract:We present several types of ordinary generating functions involving central binomial coefficients, harmonic numbers, and odd harmonic numbers. Our results complement those of Boyadzhiev from 2012 and Chen from 2016. Based on these generating functions we evaluate several infinite series in closed form. In addition, we offer some combinatorial sum identities involving Catalan numbers, harmonic numbers and odd harmonic numbers. Finally, we analyze a special log-integral with Fibonacci numbers and odd harmonic numbers.

Abstract:Based on a recent representation of the psi function due to Guillera and Sondow and independently Boyadzhiev, new closed forms for various series involving harmonic numbers and inverse factorials are derived. A high point of the presentation is the rediscovery, by much simpler means, of a famous quadratic Euler sum originally discovered in 1995 by Borwein and Borwein.

Abstract:For each positive integer $m$, the $m$th order harmonic numbers are given by $$H_n^{(m)}=\sum_{0<k\le n}\frac1{k^m}\ \ (n=0,1,2,\ldots).$$ We discover exact values of some series involving harmonic numbers of order not exceeding three. For example, we conjecture that $$\sum_{k=0}^\infty(6k+1)\frac{\binom{2k}k^3}{256^k}\left(H_{2k}^{(3)}-\frac{7}{64}H_{k}^{(3)}\right) =\frac{25\zeta(3)}{8\pi}-G,$$ where $G$ denotes the Catalan constant $\sum_{k=0}^\infty(-1)^k/(2k+1)^2$. This paper contains $66$ conjectures posed by the author since October 2022.

Abstract:This paper presents an approach to summing a few families of infinite series involving hyperbolic functions, some of which were first studied by Ramanujan. The key idea is based on their contour integral representations and residue computations with the help of some well-known results of Eisenstein series given by Ramanujan, Berndt, et al. As our main results, several series involving hyperbolic functions are evaluated and expressed in terms of z=F12(1/2,1/2;1;x) and z′=dz/dx. When a certain parameter in these series is equal to π, the series are expressed in closed forms in terms of some special values of the Gamma function. Moreover, many new illustrative examples are presented.

Abstract:Ellipsephic or Kempner-like harmonic series are series of inverses of integers whose expansion in base $B$, for some $B \geq 2$, contains no occurrence of some fixed digit or some fixed block of digits. A prototypical example was proposed by Kempner in 1914, namely the sum inverses of integers whose expansion in base $10$ contains no occurrence of a nonzero given digit. Results about such series address their convergence as well as closed expressions for their sums (or approximations thereof). Another direction of research is the study of sums of inverses of integers that contain only a given finite number, say $k$, of some digit or some block of digits, and the limits of such sums when $k$ goes to infinity. Generalizing partial results in the literature, we give a complete result for any digit or block of digits in any base.

With helps of some combinatorial identities, we establish the following two new congruences: $$\sum_{k=1}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k}kH_k\equiv\frac13\left(\frac p3\right)B_{p-2}\left(\frac13\right)\pmod{p}$$ and $$\sum_{k=1}^{p-1}\frac{\binom{2k}k}kH_{2k}\equiv\frac7{12}\left(\frac p3\right)B_{p-2}\left(\frac13\right)\pmod{p},$$ where $B_n(x)$ denotes the Bernoulli polynomial of degree $n$. As an application, we determine $\sum_{n=1}^{p-1}g_n$ and $\sum_{n=1}^{p-1}h_n$ modulo $p^3$, where $$g_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk^2\binom{2k}k\quad\mbox{and}\quad h_n=\sum_{k=0}^n\binom nk^2C_k$$ with $C_k=\binom{2k}k/(k+1)$.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish some expressions of Mneimneh-type binomial sums involving multiple harmonic-type sums in terms of finite sums of Stirling numbers, Bell numbers and some related variables. In particular, we present some new formulas of Mneimneh-type binomial sums involving generalized (alternating) harmonic numbers. Further, we establish a new identity relating the multiple zeta star values $\zeta^\star(m+2,\{1\}_{r-1})$ and specific multiple polylogarithms by applying the Toeplitz principle. Furthermore, we present some interesting consequences and illustrative examples.

Abstract:The generalized hyperharmonic numbers $h_n^{(m)}(k)$ are defined by means of the multiple harmonic numbers. We show that the hyperharmonic numbers $h_n^{(m)}(k)$ satisfy certain recurrence relation which allow us to write them in terms of classical harmonic numbers. Moreover, we prove that the Euler-type sums with hyperharmonic numbers: \[S\left( {k,m;p} \right): = \sum\limits_{n = 1}^\infty {\frac{{h_n^{\left( m \right)}\left( k \right)}}{n^p}} \;\;\left(p\geq m+1,\ {k = 1,2,3} \right)\] can be expressed as a rational linear combination of products of Riemann zeta values and harmonic numbers. This is an extension of the results of Dil (2015) \cite{AD2015} and Mez$\ddot{o}$ (2010) \cite{M2010}. Some interesting new consequences and illustrative examples are considered.

General Mneimneh-type Binomial Sum involving Harmonic Numbers

Abstract:Recently, Mneimneh proved the remarkable identity \begin{align*} \sum_{k=0}^n H_k\binom{n}{k} p^k(1-p)^{n-k}=\sum_{i=1}^n \frac{1-(1-p)^i}{i}\quad (p\in [0,1]) \end{align*} as the main result of a 2023 \emph{Discrete Mathematics} paper, where $H_k:=\sum\nolimits_{i=1}^k 1/i$ is the classical $k$-th harmonic number. Thereafter, Campbell provided several other proofs of Mneimneh's formula as above in a note published in \emph{Discrete Mathematics} in 2023. Moreover, Campbell also considered how Mneimneh's identity may be proved and generalized using the \emph{Mathematica package Sigma}. In particular, he found the generalized Mneimneh's identity \begin{align*} \sum_{k=0}^n x^k y^{n-k} \binom{n}{k}H_k =(x+y)^n \left(H_n-\sum_{i=1}^n \frac{y^i (x+y)^{-i}}{i}\right). \end{align*} In this paper, we will prove a more generalization of Mneimneh's identity involving Bell numbers and some Mneimneh-type identities involving (alternating) harmonic numbers by using a few results of our previous papers.
