Abstract:Let $\beta>1$. For $x \in [0,\infty)$, we have so-called the $\beta$-expansion of $x$ in base $\beta$ as follows: $$x= \sum_{j \leq k} x_{j}\beta^{j} = x_{k}\beta^{k}+ \cdots + x_{1}\beta+x_{0}+x_{-1}\beta^{-1} + x_{-2}\beta^{-2} + \cdots$$ where $k \in \mathbb{Z}$, $\beta^{k} \leq x < \beta^{k+1}$, $x_{j} \in \mathbb{Z} \cap [0,\beta)$ for all $j \leq k$ and $\sum_{j \leq n}x_{j}\beta^{j}<\beta^{n+1}$ for all $n \leq k$. In this paper, we give a sufficient condition (for $\beta$) such that each element of $\mathbb{N}$ has the finite beta-expansion in base $\beta$. Moreover we also find a $\beta$ with this finiteness property which does not have positive finiteness property.

Abstract:Let $\alpha, \beta$ be two relatively prime algebraic integers in a number field $K$ and $N$ be a positive integer. We show that the number of $n\in\{1,2,\dots,N\}$ such that the $\beta$-adic expansion of $\alpha^n$ omits a given digit is less than $C_1 N^{\sigma(\beta)}$, where $\sigma(\beta):=\frac{\log(|N(\beta)|-1)}{\log|N(\beta)|}$ and $C_1$ is an absolute constant, if all prime ideal factors of $\beta$ are unramified and their norms are integer primes.

Abstract:We prove that almost all real numbers (with respect to Lebesgue measure) are approximated by the convergents of their $\beta$-expansions with the exponential order $\beta^{-n}$. Moreover, the Hausdorff dimensions of sets of the real numbers which are approximated by all other orders, are determined. These results are also applied to investigate the orbits of real numbers under $\beta$-transformation, the shrinking target type problem, the Diophantine approximation and the run-length function of $\beta$-expansions.

Abstract:We introduce a new unified extension of the integral form of Euler's beta function with a MacDonald function in the integrand and establish functional upper bounds for it. We use this definition to extend as well the Gaussian and Kummer's confluent hypergeometric functions, for which we provide bounding inequalities. Moreover, we use our extension of the beta function to define a new probability distribution, for which we establish raw moments and moment inequalities and, as by-products, Turán inequalities for the initially defined extended beta function.

Abstract:For $\alpha>1$ we represent a real number in $(0,1]$ in the form \[ \sum_{i=1}^{\infty}(\alpha-1)^{i-1}\alpha^{-(d_{1}+\dots+d_{i})}\] with $d_{i}\in\mathbb{N}$. We discuss ergodic theoretical and dimension theoretical aspects of this expansion. Furthermore we study their base-change-transformation.

Abstract:We introduce the free analogue of the classical beta prime distribution by the multiplicative free convolution of the free Poisson and the reciprocal of free Poisson distributions, and related free analogues of the classical $F$, $T$, and beta distributions. We show the rationales of our free analogues via the score functions and the potentials. We calculate the moments of the free beta prime distribution explicitly in combinatorial by using non-crossing linked partitions, and demonstrate that the free beta prime distribution belongs to the class of the free negative binomials in the free Meixner family.

Abstract:We give an explicit expression for the invariant measure, absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure, of the greedy beta-transformation with three deleted digits. We define a version of the natural extension of the transformation to obtain this expression. We get that the transformation is exact and weakly Bernoulli.

Abstract:We establish a relationship between the algorithmic (Kolmogorov) complexity of the prefixes of any binary expansion and a specific $\beta$-expansion, for every computable $\beta \in (1,2)$. The proof of the main statement crucially hinges on the development of a new dynamical system that generates this specific $\beta$-expansion. This dynamical system can be implemented on a computer.

Abstract:In the base phi expansion any natural number is written uniquely as a sum of powers of the golden mean with coefficients 0 and 1, where it is required that the product of two consecutive digits is always 0. We tackle the problem of describing how these expansions look like. We classify the positive parts of the base phi expansions according to their suffices, and the negative parts according to their prefixes, specifying the sequences of occurrences of these digit blocks. Here the situation is much more complex than for the Zeckendorf expansions, where any natural number is written uniquely as a sum of Fibonacci numbers with coefficients 0 and 1, where, again, it is required that the product of two consecutive digits is always 0. In a previous work we have classified the Zeckendorf expansions according to their suffices. It turned out that if we consider the suffices as labels on the Fibonacci tree, then the numbers with a given suffix in their Zeckendorf expansion appear as generalized Beatty sequences in a natural way on this tree. We prove that the positive parts of the base phi expansions are a subsequence of the sequence of Zeckendorf expansions, giving an explicit formula in terms of a generalized Beatty sequence. The negative parts of the base phi expansions no longer appear lexicographically. We prove that all allowed digit blocks appear, and determine the order in which they do appear.

Abstract:We introduce and study finite analogues of Euler's constant in the same setting as finite multiple zeta values. We define a couple of candidate values from the perspectives of a ``regularized value of $\zeta(1)$'' and of Mascheroni's and Kluyver--Nörlund's series expressions of Euler's constant using Gregory coefficients. Moreover, we reveal that the differences between them always lie in the $\mathbb{Q}$-vector space spanned by 1 and values of a finite analogue of logarithm at positive integers.

Abstract:In this article, we consider a unified generalized version of extended Euler's Beta function's integral form a involving Macdonald function in the kernel. Moreover, we establish functional upper and lower bounds for this extended Beta function. Here, we consider the most general case of the four-parameter Macdonald function Kν+12pt−λ+q(1−t)−μ when λ≠μ in the argument of the kernel. We prove related bounding inequalities, simultaneously complementing the recent results by Parmar and Pogány in which the extended Beta function case λ=μ is resolved. The main mathematical tools are integral representations and fixed-point iterations that are used for obtaining the stationary points of the argument of the Macdonald kernel function Kν+12.

On the finite factorial numbers

Abstract:We introduce two families of transcendental numbers which we call finite factorial (FF) and partially finite factorial (PFF) numbers respectively, with the former one being subfamily of the latter one. These numbers arise naturally from some transcendental criterion for real numbers via their $b$-ary expansions. We show that rational numbers (eventually periodic words) can not be finite factorial. Then we consider the geometric (topological) properties of the collection of all the FF numbers, including its countability, density and Hausdorff dimension. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate certain results in the work.

Abstract:Let $\beta=\frac{1+\sqrt{5}}{2}$, $(a_n)_{n \in \mathbb{N}^+}$ be a non-uniform morphic sequence involving the infinite Fibonacci word and $(\delta(n))_{n \in \mathbb{N}^+}$ be a positive sequence such that for all positive integers $n$, $\delta(n)=\frac{1}{\sqrt{5}}\sum_{j \geq 0}\epsilon_j\beta^{j+2}$ if the unique Zeckendorf expansion of $n$ is $n=\sum_{j \geq 0}\epsilon_jF_{j+2}$ with Fibonacci numbers $F_0,F_1,F_2...$. We define and study some Dirichlet series in the form of $\sum_{n\geq 1}\frac{a_n}{(\delta(n))^s}$ and relations between them. Moreover, we compute the values of some infinite series involving the infinite Fibonacci word.

Abstract:We propose formulas for the large $N$ expansion of the generating function of connected correlators of the $\beta$-deformed Gaussian and Wishart-Laguerre matrix models. We show that our proposal satisfies the known transformation properties under the exchange of $\beta$ with $1/\beta$ and, using Virasoro constraints, we derive a recursion formula for the coefficients of the expansion. In the undeformed limit $\beta=1$, these coefficients are integers and they have the combinatorial interpretation of generalized Catalan numbers. For generic $\beta$, we define the higher genus Catalan polynomials $C_{g,\nu}(\beta)$ whose coefficients are integer numbers.

An Infinite Product of the Incomplete Beta Function-type Hypergeometric Function and its Probabilistic Origins

Abstract:Recently it has been shown that the $\alpha$-Sun density $h(x)$ [{\it J. Math. Anal. Appl.}, {\bf 527} (2023), p. 127371] which interpolates between the Fr{é}chet density and that of the positive, stable distributions whose density is given by a Fox $H$-function, has a Mellin transform involving an infinite product of ratios of Incomplete Beta functions. We develop systematic, but asymptotic, approximations for such products and consequently for the behaviour of the density as $ x\to 0+$ which complement the recent exact form for this by Simon [{\it Electron. Commun. Probab.}, {\bf 28} (2023) p. 1 - 13]. The systematic expansion is an example of a Power Product Expansion, and in our case we derive bounds and estimates which show that this expansion is not convergent and thus only yields an asymptotic expansion.

Abstract:An infinite class of relations between modular forms is constructed that generalizes evaluations of the Dirichlet beta function at odd positive integers. The work is motivated by a base case appearing in Ramanujan's Notebooks and a parallel construction for the Riemann zeta function. The identities are shown to be strong $q$-analogues by virtue of their reduction to the classical beta evaluations as $q\to 1^{-}$ and explicit evaluations at CM points for $|q|<1$. Inequalities of Deligne determine asymptotic formulas for the Fourier coefficients of the associated modular forms.
