Abstract:Composite cylindrical shell structure has been widely used in aircraft engine casing components because of its advantages of higher specific strength, larger specific modulus and better environmental adaptability than traditional metal materials. However, the free vibration behavior of thin-walled cylindrical shell structures is complicated and may cause significant vibration fatigue damage, so it is of great significance to study the free vibration characteristics of three-layer structures. Based on the Love's shell theory, a prediction model of three-layer thin-walled cylindrical shells with various middle layer thickness is established in this paper. In order to improve the efficiency of calculation, the vibration differential equation of three-layer cylindrical shell is established by using the beam function as the axial mode function and the energy method, and is solved by Rayleigh-Ritz method. The vibration characteristics with 9 typical boundary conditions are studied. The effects of thick-diameter ratio, length-diameter ratio, thickness ratio of middle layer and circumferential wave number on the natural frequency of three-layer cylindrical shells are studied. To validate the correctness of the prediction model, comparisons with the frequency parameters and natural frequency values in the published classical literature are made. This study can provide an effective theoretical prediction for the vibration behavior of composite three-layer cylindrical shell structures in aerospace.
