Abstract:Difunctionalization of alkenes represent a convenient way to complex molecular structure. Herein, visible light-induced intramolecular carbodi(tri)fluoromethylthiolation of alkenes was reported. CC and C-S were formed in the procedure. Various fluoroalkylthiol substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans (DHB) was prepared. Aryldiazonium salts derived from o-allyloxy anilines were used as precursors of aryl radicals. The following cyclization occurred, and the resulting alkyl radicals were trapped by shelf-stable reagent PhSO2SRf (Rf= SCF2H, SCF3). The direct difluoromethylthiolation on arenes was not observed. A variety of atoms and functional groups were tolerated.

Abstract:A visible-light-enabled, iron-catalyzed three-component reaction for difunctionalization of alkenes with amines and diselenides has been developed, wherein a photo-excitable Fe-amine complex is proposed as the key intermediate. This ligand- and base-free transformation proceeds smoothly under air atmosphere at room temperature and features broad substrate scope.

Abstract:The visible-light-promoted diastereodivergent intramolecular oxyamination of alkenes is described to construct oxazolindinones, pyrrolidinones and imidazolidones via mild generation of primary amidyl radicals from functionalized hydroxylamines. A unique phenomenon of highly diastereoselective ring-opening of aziridines controlled by electron sacrifices was observed. Highly diastereoselective amino alcohols derivatives were obtained efficiently through this protocol in gram scales. The mechanistic studies suggested the isolatable anti-aziridine intermediates were generated quickly from primary amidyl radicals and the diastereoselectivities were controlled by pK(a) values of the electron sacrifices.

Abstract:Under iodine-catalyzed and visible light-irradiated aerobic conditions, selenoalkoxylation of olefins with diselenides and alcohols can be efficiently achieved to afford the useful α -alkoxyl selenides in the presence of only 0.5 equiv. of H 2 O 2 . Controlling the sub-stoichiometric H 2 O 2 amount is crucial to avoid the non-selective over-oxidation of the diselenides that leads to the ineffective hyper-valent selenium compounds. Meanwhile, under visible light irradiation, the green, safe, and low-cost air can work as a supplemental mild oxidant in the reaction to ensure selective oxidation of the diselenides, full conversion of the reactants, and ultimately good yield of the products.

Abstract:A simple and efficient strategy for the synthesis of 3-sulfenyl and 3-selenyl indoles via a visible light-induced tandem cyclization of 2-alkynylanilines with disulfides (diselenides) was developed. Abstract:A gentle and effective method for the photocatalytic dual functionalization of allenes with high regio- and stereoselectivity using a nonmetallic catalyst is described. Inexpensive and easily available sulfinates and TMSN3 were employed as sulfone and azido sources, respectively. The method is characterized by satisfactory substrate compatibility and tolerance toward functional groups. The straightforward initial mechanistic experiments suggested that the reaction could follow a radical pathway. The synthesis of vinylsulfone azide derivatives presented here offers a promising scaffold for the future development of vinyl sulfone-based drugs and functional bioorthogonal reagents.

Abstract:A facile iron-catalyzed selenocyclization of N-methoxy-2-alkynylbenzamides enabled by visible-light irradiation is described. FeBr3 is used as the catalyst for the reaction between N-methoxy-2-alkynylbenzamide and diselenides, generating selenated isocoumarin-1-imines in moderate to high yields. Moreover, several selenium-containing seven and eight-membered-ring heterocycles were prepared using this practical protocol.

Abstract:A visible-light-induced multicomponent reaction of ethyl diazoacetate, diarylamines, and styrene-type alkenes is described. This novel 1,2-difunctionalization of alkenes can be readily achieved under a simple operation and mild conditions, affording γ-amino esters as major products. The reaction proceeds through the generation of carbon-centered radicals from diazo compounds by a visible-light-promoted proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) process. Abstract:Visible light promoted difunctionalization of alkynes is reviewed. The difunctionalization reaction is achieved by different reagents. Radicals such as carbon (sp3), carbon (sp2), and other heteroatom (P, S, N, Se, O, and halide) radicals initiated by visible light can undergo radical addition to a carbon-carbon triple bond. Upon further transformation, the desired difunctionalized products are obtained. Some organometallic complexes can be activated by visible light; the difunctionalization of alkynes is catalyzed by these species. Other reagents like 1,3-dipole precursors could also react with alkynes to give difunctionalization products; here, the 1,3-dipole derivatives are obtained by visible light photocatalysis. So far, the strategy has been succeeded in the formation of C–C bonds and C–X bonds. Several valuable chemical skeletons have been constructed under mild conditions. However, high regio- and stereoselectivities in some direct difunctionalization methodologies are yet to be achieved.

Abstract:The heterobenzylic amines, such as α-alkyl substituted oxadiazole methylamine skeletons present as essential motifs in pharmaceuticals and pesticides, due to their unique biological activities. Photoredox reactions mediated by electron donor–acceptor (EDA) complexes are more environmentally friendly methodology, which attract much attention in current research of organic synthesis. Herein, we report a C–H alkylation of heterobenzylic amines under visible light irradiation, involving an EDA complex which formed upon association of alkyl iodide and organophosphines in catalytic amounts.

Abstract:An efficient synthesis of sulfone structures through selenonium salts and sodium sulfinates was developed. Under the irradiation of a blue LED lamp, the two substrates generate aryl and sulfonyl radicals through the activation of the intermediate of the electron donor acceptor (EDA) complex, thereby synthesizing aromatic, heteroaromatic and aliphatic sulfones in medium to good yields. The advantages of this strategy are metal-free, mild conditions and the leaving group recycled to construct new selenonium salts.
