Abstract:In this paper we define the Santalo region and the Floating body of a log-concave function. We then study their properties. Our main result is that any relation of Floating body and Santalo region of a convex body is translated to a relation of Floating body and Santalo region of an even log-concave function

Abstract:The Santal\'o point of a convex polytope is the interior point which leads to a polar dual of minimal volume. This minimization problem is relevant in interior point methods for convex optimization, where the logarithm of the dual volume is known as the universal barrier function. When translating the facet hyperplanes, the Santal\'o point traces out a semi-algebraic set. We describe and compute this geometry using algebraic and numerical techniques. We exploit connections with statistics, optimization and physics.

Abstract:Using a natural representation of a 1/ s -concave function on as a convex set in we derive a simple formula for the integral of its s -polar. This leads to convexity properties of the integral of the s -polar function with respect to the center of polarity. In particular, we prove that the reciprocal of the integral of the polar function of a log-concave function is log-concave as a function of the center of polarity. Also, we define the Santaló regions for s -concave and log-concave functions and generalize the Santaló inequality for them in the case the origin is not the Santaló point.

Affine invariant maps for log-concave functions

Abstract:Affine invariant points and maps for sets were introduced by Grünbaum to study the symmetry structure of convex sets. We extend these notions to a functional setting. The role of symmetry of the set is now taken by evenness of the function. We show that among the examples for affine invariant points are the classical center of gravity of a log-concave function and its Santaló point. We also show that the recently introduced floating functions and the John- and Löwner functions are examples of affine invariant maps. Their centers provide new examples of affine invariant points for log-concave functions.

A Santaló inequality for the $L^p$-polar body

Abstract:In recent work with Berndtsson and Rubinstein, a notion of $L^p$-polarity was introduced, with classical polarity recovered in the limit $p\to\infty$, and $L^1$-polarity closely related to Bergman kernels of tube domains. A Santaló inequality for the $L^p$-polar was proved for symmetric convex bodies. The aim of this article is to remove the symmetry assumption. Thus, an $L^p$-Santaló inequality holds for any convex body after translation by the $L^p$-Santaló point. As a corollary, this yields an optimal upper bound on Bergman kernels of tube domains. The proof is by Steiner symmetrization, but unlike the symmetric case, a careful translation of the body is required before each symmetrization.

Abstract:Given a lamina $K$ whose boundary $\partial K$ is convex we define the Bonnesen functional by integrating over the position and orientation of a disk of radius $r$ its intersections with the lamina and its boundary. \[ B(r) = \frac{1}{2\pi}\int (\frac{n}{2}-\nu)dx\,dy\,d\theta =rL-A-\pi r^2\] where $n$ is the number of intersections of the boundary of $K$ with the boundary of the disk and $\nu$ (with values either 0 or 1) is the number of intersections of the interiors. Analyzing the interval on which $B(r)\ge 0$ leads to a number of isoperimetric inequalities. For example Santalo observed that $B(r)$ is non-negative on $[r_{in},r_{out}]$ where $r_{in}$, the inradius, is the largest disk contained in $K$ and $r_{out}$, the outradius, is the smallest disk containing $K$. For this configuration if the bodies intersect than their boundaries must intersect in 2 or more points (generically) so the integrand is always non-negative and $B(r)\ge 0$. In this paper we show that $B(r)\ge 0$ on the interval$[\rho_{in}, \rho_{out}]$ where these are the inner and outer radii of the annulus of minimal width which surrounds $\partial K$. In this case the integrand is not always positive but we carefully analyze the integral and use an ``averaging trick'' to balance regions where the integrand is negative with regions where the integrand is positive to show that $B(r)\ge 0$ The final isoperimetric inequalities obtained are not new, the same results have been obtained by cleverly cutting $\partial K$ and doubling it to create two centrally symmetric curves and analyzing those, but I believe that the averaging trick is new in this context. The paper also reviews the concept of ``positive centers'' and shows how the isoperimetric inequalities can be used to the show that the final shape of the curve shortening flow in Euclidean and Minkowski geometries are respectively the disk and the isoperimetrix.

The $L_p$-floating area, curvature entropy, and isoperimetric inequalities on the sphere

Abstract:We explore analogs of classical centro-affine invariant isoperimetric inequalities, such as the Blaschke--Santaló inequality and the $L_p$-affine isoperimetric inequalities, for convex bodies in spherical space. Specifically, we establish an isoperimetric inequality for the floating area and prove a stability result based on the spherical volume difference. The floating area has previously been studied as a natural extension of classical affine surface area to non-Euclidean convex bodies in spaces of constant curvature. In this work, we introduce the $L_p$-floating areas for spherical convex bodies, extending Lutwak's centro-affine invariant family of $L_p$-affine surface area measures from Euclidean geometry. We prove a duality formula, monotonicity properties, and isoperimetric inequalities associated with this new family of curvature measures for spherical convex bodies. Additionally, we propose a novel curvature entropy functional for spherical convex bodies, based on the $L_p$-floating area, and establish a corresponding dual isoperimetric inequality. Finally, we extend our spherical notions to space forms with non-negative constant curvature in two distinct ways. One extension asymptotically connects with centro-affine geometry on convex bodies as curvature approaches zero, while the other converges with Euclidean geometry. Notably, our newly introduced curvature entropy for spherical convex bodies emerges as a natural counterpart to both the centro-affine entropy and the Gaussian entropy of convex bodies in Euclidean space.

The Geometry of Locally Bounded Rational Functions

Abstract:This paper develops the geometry of locally bounded rational functions on non-singular real algebraic varieties. First various basic geometric and algebraic results regarding these functions are established in any dimension, culminating with a version of Łojasiewicz's inequality. The geometry is further developed for the case of dimension 2, where it can be shown that there exist many of the usual correspondences between the algebra and geometry of these functions that one expects from complex algebraic geometry and from other classes of functions in real algebraic geometry such as regulous functions.

Abstract:The Blaschke-Santaló inequality states that the volume product $|K| \cdot |K^o|$ of a symmetric convex body $K \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ is maximized by the standard Euclidean unit-ball. Cordero-Erausquin asked whether the inequality remains true for all even log-concave measures. We verify that the inequality is true for all unconditional log-concave measures.

Abstract:We provide a characterization of those log-concave distributions in that are contoured distributions, through the -bodies of the distribution, defined by Ball. Our method uses the logarithmic integral for the solution of a Bernstein type approximation problem. In the second part of the paper we state a question for contoured distributions that would provide an alternative approach to the isotropic constant problem.

Abstract:In a recent work, Bo'az Klartag showed that, given a convex body with minimal volume product, its isotropic constant is related to its volume product. As a consequence, he obtained that a strong version of the slicing conjecture implies Mahler's conjecture. In this work, we extend these geometrical results to the realm of log-concave functions. In this regard, the functional analogues of the projective perturbations of the body are the log-Laplace perturbations of the function. The differentiation along these transformations is simplified thanks to the known properties of the log-Laplace transform. Moreover, we show that achieving such an analogous result requires the consideration of the suitable version of the isotropic constant, notably the one incorporating the entropy. Finally, an investigation into the equivalences between the functional and geometrical strong forms of the slicing conjecture is provided.

Abstract:We establish a Fenchel-Moreau type theorem for proper convex functions f : X -> (L) over bar (0), where (X,Y,<.,.>) is a dual pair of Banach spaces and (L) over bar (0) is the space of all extended real-valued functions on a sigma-finite measure space. We introduce the concept of stable lower semi-continuity which is shown to be equivalent to the existence of a dual representation f(x) = sup(y is an element of L0(Y)) {< x, y > - f*(y)}, x is an element of X, where L-0(Y) is the space of all strongly measurable functions with values in Y, and <.,.> is understood pointwise almost everywhere. The proof is based on a conditional extension result and conditional functional analysis.

Abstract:In contemporary convex geometry, the rapidly developing L_p-Brunn Minkowski theory is a modern analogue of the classical Brunn Minkowski theory. A cornerstone of this theory is the L_p-affine surface area for convex bodies. Here, we introduce a functional form of this concept, for log concave and s-concave functions. We show that the new functional form is a generalization of the original L_p-affine surface area. We prove duality relations and affine isoperimetric inequalities for log concave and s-concave functions. This leads to a new inverse log-Sobolev inequality for s-concave densities.

Abstract: A salami is a connected, locally finite, weighted graph with non-negative Ollivier Ricci curvature and at least two ends of infinite volume. We show that every salami has exactly two ends and no vertices with positive curvature. We moreover show that every salami is recurrent and admits harmonic functions with constant gradient. The proofs are based on extremal Lipschitz extensions, a variational principle and the study of harmonic functions. Assuming a lower bound on the edge weight, we prove that salamis are quasi-isometric to the line, that the space of all harmonic functions has finite dimension, and that the space of subexponentially growing harmonic functions is two-dimensional. Moreover, we give a Cheng-Yau gradient estimate for harmonic functions on balls.

Following a classical work by Schneider, both inequalities have been extended to the so-called higher-order setting. In this work, we establish the higher-order analogues for these inequalities in the setting of log-concave functions.

Abstract:We develop the fundamentals of a new theory of convex geometry -- which we call "broken line convex geometry". This is a theory of convexity where the ambient space is the rational tropicalization of a cluster variety, as opposed to an ambient vector space. In this theory, line segments are replaced by broken line segments, and we adopt the notion of convexity in [CMN21]. We state and prove broken line convex geometry versions of many standard results from usual convex geometry.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the notion of the realifications of an arbitrary \emph{partial holomorphic relation}. Our main result states that if any realification of an open partial holomorphic relation over a Stein manifold satisfies a relative to domain $h$--principle, then it is possible to deform any formal solution into one that is holonomic in a neighbourhood of a Lagrangian skeleton of the Stein manifold. If the Stein manifold is an open Riemann surface or it has finite type, then that skeleton is independent of the formal solution. This yields the existence of local $h$--principles over that skeleton. These results broaden those obtained by F. Forstnerič and M. Slapar on holomorphic immersions, submersions and complex contact structures for instance to holomorphic local $h$--principles for complex even contact, complex Engel or complex conformal symplectic structures.

This leads to new notions of weighted functional affine surface areas.
